Welcome to the March Preggos. Here's hoping we see nearly 1000 posts before anyone pops!

If you don't have padding - is it dribbling down your leg?

rebeccacad · 26/01/2010 13:40

Nope, not dribbling down my leg (gulp), so am thinking it's just normal as Sariska says. Will keep an eye on it, but sure it's fine. Ah the joys of being neurotic.

Thanks!

MandaHugNKiss · 26/01/2010 14:14

Note to self: shaving, uh, intimate parts when you can't see them is one thing, epilating is another. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Cease and desist forthwith.

(I now have two patches that look like big love bites where I judged things badly. Woe is me)

Shroomer · 26/01/2010 14:25

I?ve just got off the phone with my grandma. ALL she talked about for the whole conversation (20 mins) was the forthcoming baby. I tried to change the subject, but to no avail. It?s all she wanted to talk about (insert a smiley with eyes raised to the skies). I really hope I don't become a baby-bore.

Here's a question for you - can you have a glass of champagne just after you?ve given birth (I'll be in a hospital)? Or is that frowned upon?

My goodness this thread is moving fast these past couple of days. I'm going to try the multi tab method and remember to say all that I want to but I can't see I'll get too far through.
Firstly shroomer there was a thread on champagne recently - all the 'ladies' were on about champagne after birth. I have to admit there was nothing further from my mind but we're all different. If you fancy it then go for it. here
I've been thinking that the lady garden needed a bit of attention but haven't got any further than thinking. . . . liked the link though siamese chuckle at the 'tulips on the mound' and mummyelks tufted eagle!
rebecca hope the pessary has started to do it's job. The only time I had a pessary was after DD's birth. I thought I had thrush but it turned out to be GBS, anyway there was a lot of crumbly tablet in my towel afterwards, I was still losing lochia so can't really comment on the discharge. Anyway hope you get some relief.
Books - I read a variety of things from chick lit to crime thrillers, detective stuff, not so into bios or heavy going stuff. The Swedish one is that the Kurt Wallander series? My parents have been reading them and left one for me to try. I got quite into it. Currently reading the backpacker which has been sitting on my shelf for ages and TBH is making me very green - reminiscing about pre baby days and long adventures round the globe. The main character is in Thailand right now . I was awake from 1.30 til 5.30 last night which wasn't good
74sb glad the problem with the car wasn't terminal!
Arcadie sorry to hear about the pox. Hope she scabs up quick and is safe to go to the wedding and fulfil flower girl duties!
hecklephone hope you're feeling better - I'd call your mw and report a 3 day headache TBH. They will probably want to check your BP etc just to be safe. I was hospitalised twice last pregnancy with severe headaches. Better safe than sorry.
henrietta hope you are feeling a bit more human and some one brings you a big bottle of lucozade to rehydrate yourself with.
mummyscrummy glad you had a good appointment with the birth afterthoughts mw - I've never heard that term before! I had a debrief with my consultant at my request but my notes from DD's birth were rubbish. I'm still down for a VBAC but wobbling a little at the thought of it all TBH! Keep repeating to myself in a positive mantra type manner '2nd time will be better'
pureeandpearls woo hoo a February baby for sure! 3 weeks isn't long, I am due day after you, dates changed from 28th and was pretty sure I'd be late so joined this thread rather than Feb like you said. I suppose you, EmlouT and pixie are our clear front runners then! I don't have any personal experience of SPD but it sounds grim.
siamese I love that dotty fabric you linked to. I was also surprised when I tried on a lovely monsoon dress for DH's mother's (3rd) wedding and he announced he didn't really like spots! What's not to like! Completely threw me as it was a lovely dress that had a flattering cut when I was at the fat but not obviously pregnant stage.
Your CTS sounds really nasty as well. I've started to get shooting pains up one thumb but very mild compared to your pains.
pixie I'm still wondering why you store your mayo behind the fridge but glad you have recovered. The mw I spoke to today told me she delivered the mw who booked me in 's twins at 36 weeks. I remember I asked you about natural delivery. Anyway my mw was keen to try natural as she had had 3 natural deliveries already - like you ? yes ? Anyway both babies were head down so they agreed she could try, first baby came out fine then second baby moved when the space was created and Consultant went in with his hands - sorry TMI and beginning to sound a bit like All Creatures Great and Small now - found a foot and pulled 2nd twin out. MW turned round very surprised to see second one out but at least it saved having to do emcs for 2nd twinnie. Sorry hope that hasn't put you off but you don't hear about many natural twin deliveries these days. Hope scan was good today.
Also hope we have 2 new drivers amongst us. I have to say that in late pregnancy I feel much less confident behind the wheel as I feel my spatial awareness starts to go and I'm just generally big and uncomfortable so hats off to you ladies who are putting yourselves through the stress of a test whilst pregnant.
Right I'm not going to scroll through anymore otherwise I'll be competing in the lengthy stakes with manda . Manda hope you are feeling better and good news about the placenta and the GBS.
I had mw appointment today and all is fine apart from ketones. Still measuring big but not too much. Ordered another repeat prescription of Gaviscon and I'm trying to eat my evening meal earlier to give me a better chance to digest it but TBH haven't noticed much difference.
Sorry for missing anyone,nothing personal.

Pingpong · 26/01/2010 15:41

Hey IWCAS sorry I was writing an essay and we crossed. Not great that you've got SPD but it is great that you're working from home and an understanding MW that will sign you off if you need it. Also good news on the ex - hope he keeps it up

Caitni · 26/01/2010 16:09

Very quick post from me but I passed - woo hoo! Am officially no longer a learner driver . Nearly cried when he said I passed and he looked scared, probably because he thought passing an 8 months pregnant woman would mean she didn't cry...hormones

Anyway, DrSkid hope you had good luck this morning too. I checked before I set off this afternoon to see if you'd posted so will keep my fingers crossed it was good news for you too.

Loads of posts to catch up on so I'll (try to) be brief

P&P crikey, 3 weeks is soon! But since it means (hopefully) rapid relief from your awful SPD then it's officially A Good Thing in my book . I'm 35 weeks today, so it is all starting to feel a lot more real (and exciting!)

Manda yay for the clever placenta! Glad to hear it's officially all clear on that front . And good news about the GBS too.

Shroomer at the camouflage bum! Must say I love my reusuable nappy colours/patterns - so cute! Probably won't like them so much when they're full of poo but in the meantime I'm loving them

Siamese lol at your husband's secret anti-polka dot thoughts . That's something I could imagine my husband saying.

IWCAS sorry to hear it is SPD, but at least it means you're now working from home. And good news on your ex-P's behaviour. Must be a relief that he's stepped up before your baby arrives, especially when you have SPD to deal with...

Pixie glad that you made it out from next to the fridge! Tis funny how often I forget the size of my bump...must be even harder to judge spaces when you've two little ones squirming away.

Smac hope the ketones don't cause too much worry. And glad you've got your gaviscon prescription filled, as your heartburn sounds horrible . I find a glass of milk helps mine, but I get it quite infrequently...

Mummyscrummy another spatone fan here - and no constipation! Although when I had inexplicable constipation in the first trimester prune juice was my saviour...nothing to add about your birth options, other than good to hear you're not being pressured (and I think Pacific had a good VBAC experience?)

mummyelk tufted eagle . I'm staying well away from my nether regions so hats off for your bravery (and for all you other topiary-tastic ladies ).

Sariska totally at that driver - how awful and scary! Unbelieveable how bad some drivers are...but to not even get an apology . Rest assured, as a brand new driver I do solemnly swear to not drive so stupidly...

Heckle hope the headache clears soon - day 3, poor you

arcadie so sorry to hear about your DD

And sorry to not mention anyone else by name...so much for my brief post! But really hope all sufferers of nobby stiles/thrush/colds etc get some relief soon.

We had a scan on Sat and baby's kidneys are fine - relief! Dalrymps, if you're lurking, I think your LO had the same thing at the anomaly scan so glad that both of our babies are fine on that front . Looks like it's going to be a "good size" - head at 98th centile and currently estimated weight of nearly 6.5 pounds (at 34 + 4). But long babies run in my family, so not too worried about the size (gulp).

Anyway, am ruddy knackered after my test. Was so convinced I'd fail that I didn't sleep too well last night and my husband's away for work at the moment and don't sleep so well without him (despite finding his snoring a trial at times ). Think I'll sneak a nap since I'm off work today...

angfirsttimer · 26/01/2010 16:23

Am very comforted to hear that you lot are struggling to control your 'ladygardens' too! I had thought that I would keep up my salon waxes but I have decided that the itchy growing back and ingrown hairs (sorry if TMI) in the post birth phase would not be a good idea.

siamese- I am suffering from CTS too -its a bloody nuisance and very painful. Hope the wrist splints are helping you. I haven't yet dicovered anything that works!

Sympathies to those suffering with various ailments/illnesses

Shroomer - I saw my mum yesterday and we spent pretty much the whole day talking abut nothing else but the baby. I am wondering when we will ever enjoy a conversation that doesn't involve babies again?!

fayzalmoonbeam · 26/01/2010 16:25

Well done caitni on passing - fab news!

arcadie I hope you and DD are bearing up - poor thing! Fingers crossed she'll be better soon

Been in and out of hospital over the past week for checks on high blood pressure (went up quickly, but now on lobetalol and it's coming down again, thank goodness!) and also for a growth scan.

Baby not measuring small as they suspected because of BP thing - quite the reverse, she's 2 weeks ahead of herself, so now I've got to have a GD test! The fun never stops after such a peaceful 31 weeks. But seeing her face on the scan was rather lovely, and she's got hair, too!

Never mind, hospital have been fab and very thorough, so hopefully it'll all get sorted soon. I'm hoping it's not GD and she's just a bit of a porker, as I haven't had any other symptoms of it!

Bestest to everyone - hope you're having a fab Tuesday

pureeandpearls · 26/01/2010 16:26

IWCAS- remember to take cushions to class and don't be getting into all sorts of contortions, or getting down on the floor a lot. Sorry SPD hat on.

Thanks everyone for taking it so well- don't think that anything would happen drastically if I went over, but the longer pg goes onthe worse the pain gets and tbh now that she is engaged, it f@cking hurts (think mummyelk asked). Off to write "How to deal with my SPD notes" which MW has told me to stick to front of my notes!!

I love spots- our nursery has spotty wallpaper.

Undercarriage hair removal- I got scornful looks when I asked this last time I was pg, and ended up buying a ladyshave thing. TBH if I were braver I'd do the whole wax thing but can't get to the salon, so that leaves what I actually do, which is shave, mainly by feel. I do reasonably well, and will never be desperate enough to ask DH to help. He's categorically not that kind of man if you know what I mean (said with love, naturally)

Thanks for Million Pieces commmnets Manda it amkes me feel better knowing that it's almost fiction....

Pingpong · 26/01/2010 16:26

great news Caitni congratulations. I remember when I passed my test I wanted to shout and tell the world and I couldn't find anyone to tell. This was back in the dark ages before mobile phones and widescale internet use!!!!
I ended up telling my Dad's secretary on the phone (who I had never even met!) but I just had to tell someone

pureeandpearls · 26/01/2010 16:30

x-post Great news Caitni about test and scan!!

LMAO smac!

MandaHugNKiss · 26/01/2010 16:32

Congrgats, Lady! No doubt, an emotionally trying night/day you've had (whoo-hoo for babe's kidneys being a-ok after all too!) so relax and be extra smug this evening, you full licence holder, you.

Hmm, it seems I've missed a post or two in my back-scrolling - arcadies DD has some sort of lurgy? I'm guessing chicken pox from the posts. Swift recovery for her wished... with no pox scarring to boot.

And, oh, ex is behaving like a human I see IWCAS. I feel a little jekyl and hyde in my response to that - my cynic says 'yeah, all well and good. Can he keep it up?' but my optimist is jumping up and down squealing 'This may be the beginning of him really getting it... there may just be a happily ever after here!'. I'm pleased he's at least supportive right now, especially as you're officially all SPD'd. Hope that doesn't get too bad

C'est quoi, this Wasp Factory? It sounds like a bit of 'me'.

MandaHugNKiss · 26/01/2010 17:05

So I just ordered a second hand copy (condition - very good) for a penny! Ok, so postage is £2.75 but still nice and cheap. Thanks for alerting me to what appears to be a twisted piece of literature!

Caitni · 26/01/2010 17:05

Thanks for the congrats - just been for my first legal drive...drove up to Ally Pally just to enjoy the view (felt like a teenage petrolhead!! Vroom vroom).

Smac I was like that - straight onto my DH in Germany - where he was in a meeting so he had to pretend it was a pregnancy related thing . Then onto the texts to my mum and sisters and friends...I know it's something the vast majority of adults have but I felt like I'd cracked the human genome or something

Manda wasp factory is very good (am casting my mind back a bit, as read it many years ago). I found The Road too depressing to finish - turns out I had guessed what happened (forced a friend to reveal the ending ) and just didn't have the stomach for it. The joys of pregnancy! As Cormac MacCarthy is one of my all time favourite writers...and I haven't not finished a book in years!

Currently, rather righteously, reading this book on food waste - fascinating, albeit a bit serious. Shall have to pick something more lighthearted for my next read! Big recommendation for Colm Toibin's Brooklyn if anyone fancies a good bit of fiction (it's the last book I read).

Hi all

Been lurking since the weekend but barely had time to do more than read - so heres my attempt at catching up on you all!!

p & P OMG - how exciting just 3 weeks to go!!!!

pixie You made me chuckle at the thought of you getting stcuk - sorry! - but why do you keep stuff BEHIND your fridge??!!!

siamese I do like your polka dots!! & hilarious spoof advert!

mummyelk i so chuckled at the hollywood !! I'm still sufferring regular waxes but getting far too many ingrown hairs - not sre if this is some cruel side effect of pregnancy!! Looking to be lasered asap after birth - can't be chowed any more!

heckle sorry your ick - hope you're feeling better soon.

arcadie Sods law or what! As someone else put - better now than as an adult. I caught it about 5 years ago from my godaughter just in time to be godparent for my nephew!! Hopefully being so young she at least won;t be poorly with it - just spotty!

caitni whohoooooooo!! well done you!! How much easier life has just got for you!!

iwcas Soo pleased for you that ex is starting to step up to the mark - so hope it lasts. Sorry your are sore with SPD but at least you are now getting the help and possible sick note you need.

No news really from me- my twin threw a suprise baby shower for me on Saturday. Ten or so close friends and family whilst the male partners went ot the pub. Some lovely sweet gifts and a home manicurist/pedicurist so at least my toes are now dutifully coloured!! Played a few games - articulate which is fab but also home made game of gase the baby photo - inevitably got 2 of my DH wrong!!!Is it my fault he doesn't look like himself!!!

To those of you that read 'proper' books - well done!! My book reading extends to autobiographies, chick lits etc. Ie pick up and put downs suitable for a beach - it tends to be the only time I get to read. I'm dipping in and out of Gina Ford (still!) and have Ant and Decs autobiography at my side where it has been shouting out to me for at least two weeks - still to be opened.

Shroomer I'm reasonably sure that you can sneakily drink champers at the RVI - I'm sure my twin did. I think after the birth whilst still in your private delivery suite rather than overtly on the 4/6 person ward.
Got my mw appt tomorrow - lets see if I get to see a mw I've actually seen before - that would be novel!! Also got my next parenting and labour classes at the weekend. Get to acually see the delivery suite - not sure if thats good or bad!!

In light of my desire for a 'natural' birth I have relented and bought the natal hypno cd's. Anyone used them either this time or previously - any good??

xx

scooby26 · 26/01/2010 17:39

pixie can't believe her snottiness for your decision not to tell !!! I completely understand why you choose not to - for the same reason me and DH know the sex vut aren't telling in RL. We want something to be a suprise!!

I can understand peoples curiosity and asking but no one has the right to be arsy or offended when you choose not to share something so personal that you would rightly want to share firstly with your family/friends - of which she is not!!!

mummyscrummy · 26/01/2010 18:54

Evening ladies

pixie congrats on the driving test!

Manda never heard of spatone, where do i indulge please?!! need to do something! Although the iron tabs i'm taking are pregaday which also contain folic acid, but surely i could take the folic acid seperately?

arcadie sorry to hear about DD pox, i will keep my fongers and toes crossed that its ok by Saturday

smac yeah i'm still a little scepital about the VBAC, but good luck to you with yours and if you are due before me let me know how it went!!

caitini ive just sent DP to sainsburys to get me some prune juice to try so thank you for that, and then hopefully i can get some spatone too!

Now a little moan from me. well maybe a big one! I was in sainsburys at dinner time browsing for some lunch when a COMPLETE stranger came up to me touched, yes touched my bump and said oooooh when are you due? When i replied 8 weeks she then retorted oh my goodness you are big already, its going to be a whopper! Was not amused and preceded to tell her that i'm actually smaller this time round! the cheek!, Then I got to the checkout and the very nice checkout lady also commennted that i was big too! Up until today I thought I was looking quite neat and average, getting myself a bit of a complex! Just amazes me how people think its ok for them to come up to you when pg and touch your bump and comment on how big/small you are!

Anyway rant over, going in the bath with DS before he goes to bed!

i'll check in later

MandaHugNKiss · 26/01/2010 19:06

I'll tell you where to get spatone if you tell me where I can get some fongers. Deal?

Ok, so it's not exactly cheap, but you have to weigh up the benefits (ie, no more awful, pile-inducing constipation culminating in lovely black stools...). Boots usually have it on a 3 for 2 offer, here: Spatone 3 for 2

You and pixie should have a conflab about what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to comments regarding our bumps

annamama · 26/01/2010 19:17

Hurrah for Caitni, well done!

Manda no I'm not in nappies yet but not a bad idea!

Tip of the day: If you're constipated and trying to have a poo... have a good cough when on the loo and it comes right out! Discovered this today. Need to buy prune juice.

mummyscrummy · 26/01/2010 20:56

ooops! right fongers you can only get them if you have diagnosed pregnancy brain
Thanks for link manda i shall get on and order some after i finished here!
anna next time i'm on the loo i shall give it my best cough and see!

Arcadie · 26/01/2010 20:59

Mummyscrummy I am currently wearing one of

these:

See if that helps!

Caitni Well done you! Vrooom vroooom.

Pixie Replied to your AIBU in GLORIOUS technicolour. Sorry about length of rant.

Everyone Thanks for all your kind wishes about DD. I've had Chicken pox as has DS. All the preggos at the wedding have also had it. She's doing ok but is getting more spotty by the hour.

OP posts:
BlueyDragon · 26/01/2010 21:24

Congratulations Caitni! Fab news. I burst into tears on the examiner who passed me, too, and I wasn't even pregnant - they must be trained to deal with crazy over emotional people surely?

Smac - you don't have preg brain, you're right - local surgery's midwives won't attend the birth but do most of the antenatal and the postnatal. So I suppose I'm being a bit unfair on them as they do do lots of hard work. I just don't like being the pig in the middle.

Siamese, I agree with you on Avatar. Looked beautiful but rubbish plot, thinly written and cliched. And 2 hours 40 was way too long. I'm hoping Alice in Wonderland will stay in cinemas for a while so I can see that in 3D instead.

Welcome to the newbies and sympathy to the sufferers of piles, thrush, lady garden traumas, IKEA flatpack and children's chicken pox - hope everyone's getting better. And Kellze, I'm feeling the 1 to 2 fear too but I'm hoping the expecting the worst tactic will get me through.

puree at your 3 weeks. Does the SPD go quite quickly after the baby's born?

Discovered yesterday that I can't run when 34 weeks pregnant. I was trying to run for a train, like an idiot, took one stride and felt something go in my knee. Lovely reaction from my boss, who gave me her physio appointment so it's feeling better already; at my (male) colleague who then chose to pass comment about the fact I'd been half an hour late as I'd missed the train. Gggggrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Book wise I'm trying to read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Unfortunately I'm mired in the rubbish books so struggling to get through; excellent cure for insomnia though!
