Welcome to the March Preggos. Here's hoping we see nearly 1000 posts before anyone pops!

hi kellze- welcome to the thread, xxxx

poor you arcadie with you flat pack hope they are worth all the effort!!LOL

swingsofglory · 24/01/2010 09:21

Oh God arcadie, Ikea flatpacks are designed to make you angry. I think they prescribe them to people with low blood-pressure. Actually, that's a point, maybe they should carry a health warning - not to be attempted during pregnancy. I leave all such things to my DH, who actuallly likes doing that kind of thing (alien emoticon). Maybe I could send him round!

Hi, Kellze, I'm due my second on the 15th and am also anxious. For me it's about being able to cope with newborn + toddler more than anything else. I'm sure we all will cope though (gulp).

Manda your jury service sounded horrific. I'm sure you're delighted to have finished and hopefully you can put your feet up and have a well-earned relax.

annamamma - another vote for Sarf London here. East Dulwich is the yummy mummy area of choice in SE London (the Stoke Newington of the South!) or Honor Oak Park - quite close to where I am now is the up-and-coming nearby alternative - East London Line connection opening shortly and rather nice shops / loads of child / baby stuff local and tons of good parks within easy walking distance. This end of town is cheaper than N or SW too but it all depends what you're after.

Hello to everyone else. Hope everyone is OK.

I am slowly returning to normal here after suffering with the most excrutiating piles after my D&V bug last week. I literally could not move for the pain last weekend and couldn't sit down for most of the week. I had to drag my poor old Mum up from Cornwall to come and help out with DD while I got better. Thank God the doctor was able to give me some serious cream which has massively shrunk the beggars.

It's so glamorous this pregnancy business!

Shroomer · 24/01/2010 12:18

swingsofglory I've got the dreaded piles too. Mine seem to be on their way out, or is that 'back in'? Steroid cream seemed to help. I've started to think up new rhyming slang for them. My latest is 'Jeremy Kyles' ; or perhaps 'Tates and Lyles'.

TMI alert!! The mild bleeding which started on Wednesday (very light, latte coloured, tiny amount), became a tiny amount of red last night. Just before I was about to make something to eat - what timing. So I rang the maternity assessment unit at the local hospital and spent 3 hours there last night. Lovely. Everything is fine - they monitored baby for 20 minutes, did an internal to see if cervix was ok, prodded me, etc. The obstetrician couldn't see any blood inside, but there was blood in my urine, so that's been sent off for testing. I don't have any UTI symptoms. I hope it's not kidney stones.

Anyway, I'm happy it's all fine, urine results due on Wed.

pureeandpearls · 24/01/2010 12:31

Welcome Kellze- with you in the worrying department, all down to my long-held belief that the jump from one to two will be harder than the jump from none to one (kids that is.)You're in good company

Swings- piles here too as my thrush was coming to an end. I swear I've had everything bar the sickness this time round. Waiting to find a varicose vein somewhere.....

I vote for South London- we're in Bromley so South East (I know some people don't count it as London but it's Zone 5 so i beg to differ)...lots fo parks nice schools and lovely houses. Plus ten minutes from M25 and 20 or so from Bluewater . What's not to like??? Easy for me to get elsewhere though to meet up, just after babies are born rather than before since the only driving I do these days is the back seat kind!!

scooby26 · 24/01/2010 12:47

Mornin all- is it wrong to still be in bed? My last grown up night out last night turned into a suprise baby shower courtesy of twin and dh ! Il update you when i get my bum outa bed! Needless to say there were no fajitas!

Sariska · 24/01/2010 13:34

The jump from one to two will be harder than that from none to one, P&P? No no no no no. No. And no again. Surely not. (Sorry to all firstimers. It's just that I like to tell myself that that sort of adjustment only needs to be gone through once regardless of the number of children you end up having.) Anyway, I guess it can safely be said that the idea of juggling a baby and a toddler is bringing me out in a cold sweat. Especially if the toddler has finished teething. He's just started (I think) on his last set of molars and, jeez, it's hard work for all concerned. He cries at the drop of a hat, wants to be cuddled and carried all the time (and only Mummy will do), wakes hourly at night and is right off food unless it's ice cream or cheese sauce.

Any news on the potential buyers, anna? I don't really know your preferred areas of London too well. Before we moved out last year, we lived very centrally, near L'pool St station, which was great for work, great bars, Brick Lane and cool shops but really not so great with a LO in tow. Way back when I lived in Muswell Hill, which always seemed like a really nice place for families but really rather rubbish for transport into the City. Sometimes it would take me as long to get into work as it now does from deepest darkest Hampshire!

Glad to hear everything seems OK after your scare last night, Shroomer. And hope you got some dinner in the end.

Sariska · 24/01/2010 13:36

Has not finished teething. Really should preview before posting.

MummyElk · 24/01/2010 16:39

Afternoon all.
Batteries not included on ITV3! love that film. DH asleep on sofa and DD asleep upstairs [bliss emoticon].
Right:
rebeccad how's the thrush? in the past i've also tried putting topical cream on a tampon applicator, i'm sure it's not medically tested or anything but might bring you some relief
Sorry to all of those who've had hospital trips recently, it's quite likely we'll all be in and out a bit more over the next couple of months... fingers crossed with no really early arrivals!!
db so exciting about your house, brilliant news! camping in new house is somehow so much more acceptable than when you actually think, I'm sleeping on a mattress on the floor!! it'll be a good adventure
arcadie LOL at wardrobes, i do hope today sees them up and looking beautiful..... Can you get your vicar to do a sermon on IKEA flatpacks...? "I was putting up a pax wardrobe the other day, and I thought, God is like a flatpack, except, He doesn't come with instructions" (can you tell i produced religious radio content for several years?!!). Anyway I do hope you and MrRKD are not filing for divorce..
iwcas v good news on the Ex front. excellent.

hecklephone · 24/01/2010 16:50

I'm with you sariska- I'm trying to convince myself I'll feel like an old hand at this baby lark as soon as no 2 pops out (although am secretly wondering how on earth I'm going to get myself and 2 children ready every morning, even when we don't have to go anywhere!)

shroomer- loving the 'jeremy kyles' rhyming slang! . It seems so appropriate somehow...!

Emlou- glad everythings ok just now, hope your night away was v relaxing.

We had a child-free evening courtesy of a sleepover at GPs house last night, but all relaxation has dissipated with DD's super-clingy behaviour today.

Plus I seem to have an ear-ache which is slowly spreading across my head, so no energy to fight the constant demands...i'm being Pathetically Soft Mummy today and currently in the middle of an Angelina Ballerina marathon.

Arcadie · 24/01/2010 18:04

Laughed my arse off on BOTH counts Elk! Especially the Wash your hands bit.........

Off to eat tea before church - doubt there'll be any IKEA comparisons.

OP posts:
rebeccacad · 24/01/2010 19:07

Well, the thrush is still ehre of course, but the cream is quite soothing. Will see the doctor tomorrow as keen to make sure it has 100% gone before I have the baby so we don't pass it back and forth - that sounds like such a nightmare.

hecklephone hope the earache is better - any way you can have a little sleep I often find that sorts headache/earche out as your muscles relax...

Mummyelk so glad the hips are better - keep getting the rest.

Welcome to the madhouse kelize Shroomer hope the urine results come back clear - maybe it was just one of those things?

arcadie - it's hard not to set fire to the ikea flatpacks sometimes isn't it. I think doing it little by little can be better for your sanity. I recently tried to line the inside of a cupboard with fablon. It was so fiddly and annoying that I did one shelf at a time for fear of setting fire to the bloody thing.

IWCAS so glad your ex is improving his behaviour and being supportive - fingers crossed it'll last for good.

Right, off to munch on dinner and sit in my lovely armchair we picked up yesterday. I love ebay bargains!

Henrietta · 24/01/2010 19:17

Bending, did someone say the could still touch the floor?? and Im only 31 wks, slim build but huge football/hot air balloon stuck up my jumper - which everyone seems to need to comment on

from 0-1 deff most difficult you have to decide everything - what nappies what feeding method, figure out how to change them dare I mention sleep...but 1-2 most diff was the sibling thing once no 2 was crawling. no 3 adding in the school run so no 4 - Just whether Ill stay sane?

welcome Kellze - did you say any particular worries?

laugh for everyone - took DD to a party, felt like a spare part as didnt have the boys, but the mum wouldn't let me blow up balloons as apparently hyperventilation can cause labour to start - told her I hadn't heard that one before, so if we go overdue - get out the balloons??? Then again you may need to save your breath for labour...

I'm here to whine again!

I spent from 2am until just after 5am on the toilet having what can only be described as water shoot out of my bottom. And awful gripey pains in my stomach. And a vague feeling of nausea that persisted through most of the day.

I think it can only be the lasagna I ate at about 9pm last night. It was a marks and spencers, and had yesterday's date on it... I have to admit, I'm very funny about best befores and often won't eat something that has that days date on it (I know, paranoid). But there was very little here and I was very busy having a lazy day yesterday so didn't go shopping (not that I can carry much these days. I have no car).

Just hope to get a decent night tonight as I have a scan a 9.20am tomorrow morning (checking placenta position) so have to be up and out by about 8.15.

Hard to believe I'm 34 weeks today. 34. I really need to start preparing/buying stuff/organising.

Oh, and I think I found the transition from 1 to 2 slightly harder than 0 to 1. They both have their... difficulties. I guess it depends on your personality as to which you'll find more trying! I'm someone who really doesn't cope well on little sleep. With one, sure, sleep is disturbed lots, but you sleep when the one does. When you have two, that's often not possible. For me, that was the worst.

THis baby may be number three, but in many ways, he'll really be like a one. And luckily, my real number one will be 15 and able to give me a helping hand

mumbot · 24/01/2010 20:29

major at pixie getting stuck behind a fridge, you are a lady after my own heart...

just had to shout DP to rescue me and help me sit up in bath after I decided to lay down to wash my hair only to find I couldn't get back up again .... doh!

All pampered and recovered now though

welcome kelize manda that sounds awful, you poor thing I always find that yoghurt and milk helps settle my stomach after something like that

x

mummyscrummy · 24/01/2010 21:21

evening ladies,

manda hope ypur feeling a little better and you dont have the same 3 hours stuck on the loo tonight. I'm finding if I eat late then i can almost always guarentee to get up in the night to throw it back up so sympathies are with you.

pixie big big at you getting stuck behind the fridge!

shroomer glad everythings ok now and the bleed stopped and fingers crossed for your urine results on wed
mummyelk glad your hips are better just keep resting so they dont get worse again.

kelize welcome, and i too also share your fears on the jump from 1 to 2! One of the mums at nursery told me she found the transition from 1-2 harder than 0-1 and then 3-4 even harder! luckily we're stopping after dc2 arrives so wont get to 3 -4! I can't help but wonder how i'll cope with 2, all my free time goes on DS1 and he's permantly attched to me wherever I go!

sorry to anyone i've missed its so hard to keep up sometimes!

Today I went out for lunch with the girlies and DP and DS had a boys afternoon, which i think was nice for us all! I normally take DS with me so it was nice to eat a full plate of food in a pub without having to leave most of it when DS gets restless !

A birth afterthoughts midwife is coming to see me tomorrow to go through my notes from DS birth to see what went wrong where and why etc etc and why I had to have a EMCS. My CM thought it would be a good idea and wants me to try for VBAC this time round, but I'm not sure and personally I would rather an elective section, which my consultant is also aware of and says he'll decide when I have my growth scan at 36 weeks. Has anyone spoke to a birth afterthoughts midwife before or similar?

oooh also i have had my stair carpet fitted this weekend! only 18 months after moving in , seems I have to get pregnant to get anything done in this house

Anyways hope you are all ok
