Come in, come in to the new haven for diffed BESHies. I think a group effort is needed here (and I'm being a lazy preggo), so please add to the deli whatever you crave/love/can stomach.

Nominations are also open for sexy fathers we can hijack to serve our mouldy cheese and cured ham

And the best mocktail recipe wins...well, bugger all to be honest

I haz got a baybee!!!!!!

It was amazing he was really moving around and waved at his daddy (before the sonographer turned the screen so I could see as well).

Then it started stretching and jumping about and at one point TGO is convinced it was practicing pedalling.

Then it turned its back on us and mooned us

got new dates (again!) am measuring 12+1 so new edd of 22nd Aug.

iggypiggy · 08/02/2010 12:27

Afternoon all.

Fuck all to report from here - except my 'bump' appears to have risen up - and am now a strange shape with a tiny bump...

I already have THE FEAR about the scan on weds..

Anyway... cunty it's always hot in June and raining in July - that is what we have to look forward to

Ski I haz no knowledge of your bumhole problems - as I've already said... the aptly names poo will have to assist

RunLyraRun · 08/02/2010 12:49

Many many congratulations Cosmo! Brilliant news. Not an artichoke after all, then?

skihorse · 08/02/2010 12:55

Cossie Is it really a he or are you just assuming and thrilled it's not going to be soup? We had a real wriggler too with arms and legs going mad - which I was so chuffed to see!

Did you cwy? Did TGO cwy? How different are your dates?

iggy Surely you in a state of fear is pretty much a given? "Relax and it won't happen". etc., etc.

My bumhole doesn't hurt today which is a relief eh? Stabby bum = not nice.

Cosmosis · 08/02/2010 13:05

ski no idea if it's a he, but feel uncaring calling it it! And yes, lyra thankfully no vegetables in sight!

Neither of us cried.

But we did a lot of oh my godding and hand squeezing and grinning.

tbh I thought today would make it sink in, but it hasn't!

Although we have got rid of the cd tower and computer desk in the junk room now, so have started on the pre baybee clearing up.

iggs your scan will be lovely.

CurlyCasper · 08/02/2010 13:23

Fab news cossie! Sounds like we've got a right bunch of wrigglers. (though mine has been quite still over the weekend. I worked out why when I went to check HB last night - it's moved quite a bit, heart on the opposite site and fainter, so I think it's moved across and turned over or summat)

iggy why you having a scan it 17 weeks? I'm guessing it's not the anomaly one. Is it just an extra in your care package? I see my MW for the first time on Friday morning. (after I've done dentist tomorrow and physio on weds).

Dragged myself out of bed long enough on Saturday to visit the MW/consultant units in the next town (where I have to go). So many tiny babies! I stood in the birthpool room and a few delivery rooms - talk about THE FEAR. There was actually more space in the consultant unit room, so if I can't get in the pool (or rather, over sized bath) I'd really rather go there. All the other wimminz on the tour had mahoosive bellies and probably thought I was a fraud, but I wanted to see what is was like before deciding to fight the doctors over their desires for my birth.

givecarrotsachance · 08/02/2010 13:41

Excellent news cossie!! Really chuffed for you.

iggs best of luck with your scan. I'm sure all will be fine. Are you feeling movement yet?

cas You can only feel it move when it's in certain parts of you at this size so if you don't get any movement for a while, that's why. The doppler's really reassuring, isn't it.

ski yes - I had to sign a disclaimer even though the only thing I could see causing a problem was if the ropes failed and I fell - in which case my pregnancy would be the LEAST of their worries!!

Feeling very neck-stiff this morning following the swimming but will have a really hot baby-boiling () bath later today.

skihorse · 08/02/2010 14:13

haha 'zackly rots. Given the harness, as you say - if the rope snaps, ickle baybee and you have bigger things to worry about. Although I rather like that about abseiling... leaning back over the abyss and "letting go" - you know that if your number's up, it's up.

iggypiggy · 08/02/2010 14:13

cossie I must have x-posted - soz. That is v. excellent news! Is a shock how much they move innit?!

ski is quite right - I iz in permanent state of fear..

cas in theory this would be what they call the sexing scan, which can be done from 17 weeks onwards - but we are choosing not to know - so I guess is just a reassurance one for us.. Then the anomaly scan is 21-23 weeks - which is the one after. I don't see the midwife till 26 weeks.. is all v. confusing I just do what they tell me!

rots not feeling anything yet - fuels THE FEAR... but I know some people don't until 20 weeks...

skihorse · 08/02/2010 14:14

iggy If your baybee is "not good" why haz you a bump?

iggypiggy · 08/02/2010 14:38

I eated and entire bar of chocolate covered marzipan today - like a big bar - meant for sharing... maybe bump is made of marzipan?

skihorse · 08/02/2010 14:55

I took a photo of my bump this morning. Every monday morning from now until "that time" there will be a photo taken.

skihorse · 08/02/2010 14:56

(Photo has to be taken in morning due to fart-baby bump which appears mid-afternoon.)

givecarrotsachance · 08/02/2010 14:57

iggs Ski makes a fair point about the bump. Is it possible to make an earlier MW appointment? I've seen mine 3-4 times now and each time there's a doppler thing done which is nice (although of course I have mine at home if I want to use it).

It's most likely that you won't know you're feeling it for a few weeks yet. For me it feels like I'm being tickled from the inside with a feather which if I didn't know otherwise I wouldn't put down to baby movements.

If your bump is growing, you'll be fine I know it's nerve racking, so some MW visits would surely be good. Mine knows it's fine just by looking at where the top of my ute is.

skihorse · 08/02/2010 15:01

Every time I puke/cry/feel sick I know my baybee loves me and is growing well.

CurlyCasper · 08/02/2010 15:16

Hurrah for more bump photography! Mine gets its close-up every Tuesday before I go to bed (and then wake up another week gone).

Good news - I have now managed to secure a promise of new windows and a new chair for my office thanks to diffedness. Another Hurrah for H&S people!

And if physio confirms SPD I'm going use that as grounds to ask to do lots of work from the comfort of my bed. (well, from at home at least, boss doesn't have to know I'll probably be in me jim-jams or less as I email him)

iggy you'll be fine. I'm jealous that you have a scan again so soon. March 5 seems such a long way off. Lahndahn baby, on the other hand, is just a fortnight away and I have now booked my train tickets. well, at least I have asked someone else to do it.

at ActionHeroPreggoRots

My baby loves me in the form of trapping farts and causing mucho belly agony...

givecarrotsachance · 08/02/2010 15:48

LOLOL @ me being heroaction!! The most adventurous part TBH was lying on the declaration form . I did feel pretty uncomfortable about that as I don't do lying. Well not normally. Obviously I did there. But the form had a "yes/no" thing saying "delete as appropriate" so I sort of draw a scrappy circle around "no" which "could" have been interpreted as me crossing it out, maybe, so it sort of wasn't a lie. Sort of. .

iggypiggy · 08/02/2010 15:55

rots I didn't read your centerparcs thing - sounds good. I don't reckon I'd be up for abseiling tho - diffed or not!

Also - my MW thing doesn't work how everyone elses does.. but I do have scan on weds - then another one only a few weeks later - so not really complaining.. might invest in doppler maybe!

cas it will be good in lundun innit we can go crazy with the OJ...

givecarrotsachance · 08/02/2010 16:35

iggs I remember you saying about the MW thing - are you private? Remind me why your system is different? Is there any way you can ask to be seen for a dopplar thing? Obv not worth it RIGHT now with scan on Wed but, you know...

Abseiling is not really scary other than the actual stepping off part (which is really quite scary until you trust that there really is a rope and harness there to support you). Once you're sitting in the harness and on the way down it's fab. And there's a safety rope so if you totally screw it up you just stop and hang for a while. Although our guys who were running the show got cocky and on my third descent, just as a stepped off past the point of no return, he said, "NO! Not yet, wait!". Haha, very funny.

iggypiggy · 08/02/2010 16:42

rots yes is private - is consultant led care. The MW appts don't come till later. but i do get appts quite frequently at these weeks: 12, 22, 26, 30, 33, 35, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 40+ weeks

Who knows why I have one at 17 weeks... I think he thinks I am nuts and can't wait very long between appts without going menkul... suspect he is right... bear in mind they offered me a reassurance scan at 10 weeks in case I couldn't wait a whole 4 weeks from 8 to 12.. I obviously appear nuts..

And in case you wondering - the care package is paid for in one fixed price. I don't pay per appt.

I think I would just hate the stepping off the top bit rots am not afraid of heights as such.. but I am a wuss...

givecarrotsachance · 08/02/2010 16:50

iggs you horse ride - one of the most dangerous and extreme sports there is - hardly makes you a wuss.

Good thing having the 17 weeks if it reassures you - best for you and babe if you're as relaxed as you can be.

iggypiggy · 08/02/2010 16:56

rots I know - but I was 6 when I started riding - I didn't think of the risks and am now immune to them...

I am having wierd feelings this afternoon - don't want to say they are kicks -but they are wierd things...

CurlyCasper · 08/02/2010 17:04

that would be "quickening" iggy! I haven't had actual kicks yet - just the wierd wiggles!

OP posts:
givecarrotsachance · 08/02/2010 17:09

igg describe weird...

Cosmosis · 08/02/2010 19:15

Oooh weird things iggs! sounds citin.
