Come in, come in to the new haven for diffed BESHies. I think a group effort is needed here (and I'm being a lazy preggo), so please add to the deli whatever you crave/love/can stomach.

Nominations are also open for sexy fathers we can hijack to serve our mouldy cheese and cured ham

And the best mocktail recipe wins...well, bugger all to be honest

Ooh missed that about the scan VAG - good news!

skihorse · 02/02/2010 11:11

Skater Yes... are the takeaways beckoning you yet? Craving a Big Mac? Maybe a frozen lasagne? It's all perfectly normal - variety = cheddar AND brie on your Jacobs.

VAG I'm delighted to hear you're one of us fo shiz. No escaping now!

iggypiggy · 02/02/2010 11:13

Anyone else gone off eating meat?? I can't be doing with any chunks of meat eg. chicken breast/ steak etc... Am carb obsessed at the mo

skihorse · 02/02/2010 11:13

skater The reason they suggest you take folic acid in the first trimester is that your diet will go to pot and whilst your normal food would contain plenty of B-vits your pregnancy diet mostly consists of stodge.

skihorse · 02/02/2010 11:15

iggy I had a pepper steak last night but I'm much more in to fish right now. I've actually come out the other side of the junk-food plateau and I'm enjoying food groups other than fat + salt again.

iggypiggy · 02/02/2010 11:28

I could eat some fish I guess... but would rather eat pasta... oh dear!

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/02/2010 11:50

Another carb obsessive here.

And yougurt. God, I could eat them all day.** Possibly fear related as my preggy friend's baby has leached all the calcium from her body and her nails are splitting vertically. Eek!

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/02/2010 11:50

yoghurt rather.

skihorse · 02/02/2010 11:52

Oh god. I haz done sumfink grown-up and terrifying.

I saw a 3-wheeler Quinny combo on the Dutch version of ebay the other day for 125 euros "if you come and pick it up today". I'm going to look tonight. 125 euros is a bargain isn't it?

CurlyCasper · 02/02/2010 11:58

Nice one ski. Of course you can ignore. Just wish I had space to ignore the bits I've bought.

still pizza and baguette addicted here. Gone off yoghurt completely, but eating jelly. Meat's ok (lovely mild beef curry last night). Fish not so appetising, as I've started to have smell aversions. Cans of lager stink like glue - repulsive. Anything creamy like soups and thick sauces also turning my stomach. And the mash aversion remains in place.

I made my own squash/carrot/onion soup on Sunday then could not stomach it. Meanwhile, SFF can't get enough of the stuff.

I am a joy to feed at present

CUNextTuesday · 02/02/2010 12:08

Meanwhile everything over at Cunty Towers tastes really bland so lots of salt and spicy food here... good job constipation has passed or I'd be rotting from the inside.

Cosmosis · 02/02/2010 12:25

My eating has pretty much gone back to normal now. I am craving quite healthy things like fruit salad and stuff My hot drink aversion has thankfully gone as well so our super bean to cup coffee machine is no longer feeling neglected (and yes we only drank decaff before anyway as non decaff gives TGO palpitations).

So less than a week till scan no1 (8th). then private nuchal fold scan on 16th.

CUNextTuesday · 02/02/2010 12:33

why you having private if you don't mind the ask? Does nhs hossie not do it?

CurlyCasper · 02/02/2010 12:44

NHS doesn't do nuchal here - but I didn't find that out until it was too late, thanks to fucked up appointments Friends recently did it privately a week before 12-week scan.

cosmo you're getting even more perfect with your cravings for fresh fruit. Bah.

at insides rotting cunty. Sounds like you get exciting food though.

OP posts:
Cosmosis · 02/02/2010 12:47

As with cassy, our NHS only do a dating scan, the nuchal fold is "coming soon" apparently. yeah thanks.

cas does the packet of licorice allsorts I scoffed on sat make you feel better

CurlyCasper · 02/02/2010 13:05

ooooh yeeeessss!

Isn't licorice banned in pregnancy

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 02/02/2010 13:12

cossie without wanting to piss on your healthiness jag - I only craved fruit for ages - but last couple of weeks am carb monster

Cosmosis · 02/02/2010 13:15

iggy your views on carbs are repulsive.

curls I care not. Nothing on earth will keep me from alsorts when they are desired.

iggypiggy · 02/02/2010 13:20

cos I am mainly replusive

I love allsorts...

CurlyCasper · 02/02/2010 13:25

I prefer comfits

Random thought: does anyone know if pregnancy eventually makes it difficult/non-advisable to drive? (seeking good excuses to work for the shortest time possible despite lack of funds)

(Never mind driving, I'm seriously thinking about taking a jigsaw to my deak at work to fit my belly in. I think the pressure is why I can feel the baby moving)

OP posts:
skihorse · 02/02/2010 13:26

I told my dutch colleagues about licquorice being "banned" during pregnancy. They howled.

I iz with Cossie, I iz craving fruit, leafy green salad and lean protein. Thank the fucking lord - any more carbs and I'd have resembled the marshmallow man. This 'back to normal' eating has resulted in a loss of 1kg. Get in!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 02/02/2010 13:54

I'm constantly nibbling carbs and salty items and have totally lost interest in sweets and pudding. And tea. Is v odd. Am also v thirsty all the time.

And ironically, given that, I have toothache. What, if anything, am I actually allowed? [too lazy to google emoticon]

Was going to say something else. But have forgotten.

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/02/2010 14:14

You need this VAG: Food Standards Agency advice

I have gone right off coffee. Loving tea but FSA website says only 2 mugs a day.

Booked my private early preggo scan for a fortnights time when I'll be 8.5 weeks.

Apparently you can see limb buds and everything.

Ponymum · 02/02/2010 14:15

I need peanut M&Ms. Why did I forget to go to the shop when I was out this morning?

Other than that I think I am eating normally now. Pity as now the cupboards are full of all the weird things I was convinced were the "only" thing I could eat at the time. Does anyone need a month's supply of pot noodles, Cheerios and Mars bars?

There is a new emoticon. What could it possibly mean?

iggypiggy · 02/02/2010 14:17

VAG you can haz paracetamol if you want - check NHS webiste here

dunno wot else - isn't clove oil meant to be good for toothache?
