welcome mrsS77

mrsZaC · 13/01/2010 11:42

owh bigmuther you poor thing, hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear your news Geo but echo other posts in saying best of luck for your next jelly bean

Fingers crossed for you underneaththestream hope all is dandy

yey missus glad you got your scan date through, I was planning on telling work the week before I go for mine, so I can get the time off more easily. but it's whatever you are comfortable with, but you might feel better if you tell them, like you've got something off your chest?

alice glad to hear all is well with baby, hope they find out what is up soon, sounds like an odd one.. must be really frustraiting!

chulita I'm the totally opposite, been really enjoying myself if you know what I mean.. but been getting a sore lower back afterwards DH is away for two weeks working now so I might have to explore the rabbit option, or have a rest.. either is good

oh and welcome MrsS77 and your 2 jelly beans! - congrats! how are you feeling about it? in the nicest possible way i hope I don't have two (currently raspberry-sized) beans hiding in my tummy!

has anyone been lusting after the ? I keep catching it out the corner of my eye on the screen and tummy says YES PLEASE!

MrsS77 · 13/01/2010 11:50

Thanks for the welcome mrsZac - of course it was a shock at first, but honestly, I have felt nothing other than blessed since we found out (the DH and I keep bursting into fits of giggles!) I had a bad missed mc in July last year and I was struggling to come to terms with it, and somehow knowing that we are having two now, has made sense of it a little.

I know it's going to be a challenge, but bring it on!

mrsZaC · 13/01/2010 11:59

owh that's so lovely for you S77 I'm so pleased sorry to hear about your previous mc

Chulita · 13/01/2010 12:01

Yay! 2 sets of twins...no more now cos that's what I predicted I was a bit disappointed to see the one snuggled up in there but I really think DD would've been a bit left out at the start with two more!
bigmuther - I hope things sort themselves out for you quickly, eggs...my grandad swears by them, and as grandads are wont to do, he's always telling me about his bowel movements... is that just mine that does that?
mrsZac and [biscuit}

Chulita · 13/01/2010 12:02

or even...

driedapricots · 13/01/2010 13:22

hello S77 welcome and huge congratulations on your twins. Goodness, I hadn't even considered the possibility...please god not me either (again, in the nicest possible way)
So who else is snowed in today?
I'm having to work from hubby's office today ddue to the snow which is very odd, but rather nice too ;)
i'm gonna have to tell work next week about my scan and booking in apt as they both clash with big client meetings that a 'doctors apt' would just not wash with!
starting to get worried about it now, i'm just presuming if i've got all good symptons and no 'bad' ones it'll all be fine but you never know eh. it's been said, but there are too many ladies dropped off this thread, so sad
moving on...OMG i can't believe all the talk of rabbits on here, i've turned into a right ffrigid bridget!!
so, it's a 'special snow day' - does that warrant a special lunch as i have a major craving knowing there's a fab chippie across the road!!! shall i...?!

Chulita · 13/01/2010 13:30

sorry driedapricots - maybe we should make the rabbit name a bit more cryptic...any suggestions?
And, yes, yes, yes, on another thread I'd have said YANBU to want chips but YABU not to have them if there's a fab chippie across the road. at fab chippie across the road...

ha ha , no chulita i meant i can't believe you're all using them, not talking about them! i'm not THAT frigid yet!!!!

Aussieng · 13/01/2010 13:35

Mmmmm chips... It's a vending machine lunch for me. Not setting foot outside until DH picks me up at home time.

Welcome MrsS77 - that's a lovely story. I'm so glad your twins have helped with the healing process.

Been feeling knackered the last few days. Not helped with the morning sickness. Anyway I had my scan yesterday and because I am 35 was given a nuchal scan. The picture of the baby was really clear and "he's" a proper little wriggly poser too . It was so lovely. Also I got a nice low risk rating on my NT (much lower than the average for my age) which really set my mind at rest. I would almost certainly not have had an amnio anyway but now I just feel like I can relax on that score.

I'm less relaxed about being told that I have a fibroid. Obviously at this stage they do not know if it is growing but it needs to be monitered especially as it is inconveniently situated - right next to the exit route. So I've been transferred to a consultant and we shall see. Been thinking scary thoughts about casaerians etc but trying to just relax and wait and see what happens over the next 7 weeks leading up to the 2 week scan.

Finally, I was re-dated which I am a bit about since I know my cycle practiccally to the hour. My due date is now 20 July and apparently I am now 13+1. Personally I think that if I am 13+1 then it must have been a case of immaculate conception but apparently that is the date I am now stuck with and if it does come to a casearian then I guess it will be July. I'm going to brave the July thread but can I check in here too please - I want to know how you are all getting along....

ElusiveMoose · 13/01/2010 13:48

Hi Aussieng, so glad to hear your bean is lovely and healthy. Sorry to hear about the fibroid, but watching with interest to hear how you get on. I suffered from a long period of chronic pelvic pain last year, and although it was ultimately undiagnosed (even after an ultrasound and laparoscopy ), they did find a small fibroid while they were poking about. So I'm waiting rather anxiously to see whether it's still there, and/or has grown in the last year...

Anyway, although it's a slight concern, it's good that they've found yours now. Apparently they sometimes miss them until it's too late, and they can then cause complications with labour if the baby hasn't got a clear passage. And it means you'll probably have lots of lovely scans and chances to see your bean growing .

Sorry we're going to lose you from the August thread, but do pop back and see us!!

bouncingblueberries · 13/01/2010 13:48

Oh Aussieng don't leave us! Stay and obsess over crazy stuff with us!
Great news on the scan though I've got to wait another 11 days - boo!

mrsZaC · 13/01/2010 14:00

aussieng yey with the low risk rating and glad you got a lovely little view of baby! rubbish news about fibroid.. hope all goes ok on that front...think you have the right idea relaxing and waiting to see what happens

sparkle101 · 13/01/2010 14:27

Hi everyone

Thanks to everyone for the advice - it was good to put my mind at rest and I can confirm that am 8 weeks today and no more spotting! Thanks again!

Have had a really emotional couple of days. I cried today because the snow looked pretty coming out of the sky (who'd have thought!!) and continued to cry for the next half hour. Always good.

Added to the fact MS is bad today - I hope to god it stops at 12 weeks, not sure I can cope after that.

Am loving the pink french fancy idea - have just invested in multi pack of roast beef monster munch - continuing the 80's crisp theme! Although now I've bought them I'll probably go off them!

driedapricots · 13/01/2010 15:02

mmm..chips; wouldn't recommend for lunch. feel fat, sick and very tired now. that'll teach me!
aussieng i agree, don't leave us! i might have to 'double-thread' too as am hoping for an elective c-sect this time which i'm sure will put me back into July...

Chulita · 13/01/2010 15:09

driedA this is going to sound really nosey but can I ask why you'd like an elective c-sec?
and I feel fat, sick and tired after a bowl of salad so I'm not convinced chips are entirely to blame...

driedapricots · 13/01/2010 15:23

course...i had a very long and (in my book) traumatic labour with DD1 and just don't want it to happen again. i was told there was no reason i couldn't have a normal delivery next time but i just feel i'd rather not risk the same thing happening as psychologically i think i've a bit of a block there now and i'm sure recovery after a planned c-sect will be a lot easier than after 48 hours of no sleep and 22 hours in agony!! feel a bit bad about it and am slightly worried about looking after #2 plus a wriggly toddler whilst recovering, but i have lots of help.

Rubena · 13/01/2010 15:39

DriedA, I'm having another elective section and I've just realised as well that it will probably mean i'm the last day of July... I'm sure there will be some people who have babies early on here, but perhaps I should jump across when I know for sure as well to July?
Also, I left hospital the next day and was out sightseeing with family visiting on day 5 so hopefully yours will be a similar experience.
Finally got my scan booked for a couple of weeks time yay

bouncingblueberries · 13/01/2010 15:39

I'm really struggling this afternoon

My nose is totally stuffed up, I've got a vague headache, I feel sick, I've got an horrible taste in my mouth and feel far too full after a mini salad from Pret.

Woe is me. And I've got some really boring copy I've got to write that will actually require some concentration. Triple woe.

Sorry for whinge.

I might have to get chips with ds on our way home from nursery to cheer me up (grr, damn you apricots and your chip teasing ways! )

Rubena · 13/01/2010 15:43

driedapricots · 13/01/2010 15:46

that's reassuring rubena..i forgot to explain that my last labour ended in an emergency c-sect anyway. it did take me quite a while to recover from it but then again was a bit wimpy then and am much more prepared this time round i reckon!

Chulita · 13/01/2010 15:49

drieda I only ask because DD and I fought each other for days before ending in an em c-sec anyway. Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be better to have an elective - I'm absolutely terrified of labour, not thinking about it (or trying not to at the mo) but I don't want to have to go through that horror again...it did take me just over 10 months to be pain-free though so the recovery time puts me off. They say that elective recovery is far quicker though...

Dibbydab · 13/01/2010 16:02

Hello girls,

Big hugs to everyone who needs them and congrats to those who have had their scans and had nice surprises.

Am feel a bit "meh" today. I have been offered 2 trips for work to the Caribbean and Monaco, but I will be 6 and 7 months pg respectively so I'm going to have to say no and I know I won't get the opportunity again once Baby Dib comes along - I wouldn't want to do all of the travelling I do at the moment, but it's still a bit gutting to have to turn these trips down.

Had my bloods done today the results of which will be ready when I have my Nuchal and Dating scan next Thursday (will be 12 weeks). Feeling a bit blue about that as well - the first thing the nurse said to me was "you're an elderly mother, will you be having the Down's Test?", feel like it's all really negative - I'm nearly 35, I know the risks are higher, I've read the literature and endless articles and one of my best friends has a 3 year old with DS, I know it happens, but please, let me enjoy this time like any other first time mum.

Am also really worrying about a missed miscarriage and terrified that at the scan they're going to say "sorry Dib, there's no heart beat we think it stopped growing at 8 weeks" or something awful like that.

So all in all, I'm not feeling very positive when I'm usually quite a "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" kinda gal. Need a big hug from DH and for him to tell me it will be alright roll on 5pm...

Sorry to be self indulgent and whiney, but it can't all be yummy crisps and cherryade can it?

Chulita · 13/01/2010 16:20

She said you were an 'elderly mother' at 35 My mum's not an elderly mother yet and she's had 7 kids and we're all grown up...the cheek of it!
