Thanks Sweetheart, thought I was being too optimitic but obviously not - hurrah!

My bf is having a baby at the end of August but she lives quite a way away (I moved away from most of my friends & family when I moved in with DP). I'm worried that I won't be able to afford petrol once I'm at home.

Oh well, signed up for NCT classes & will be putting my hand up for any coffee morning going. I know I sound like I'm a bit wary but I can't wait really.

You are so going to have to give me a list of what to buy - I'm getting so confused by all these baby things!!

dramaqueen72 · 04/07/2005 15:59

MINNIE1 · 04/07/2005 16:01

OMG!

164 to maternity
116 day left at work!!!
I have a long way to go!!!

george32 · 04/07/2005 16:02

Grrr, DQ I'm so !! Please can you make us some nice cakes to make the afternoon go quicker?
Only 1 1/2 hours to go.

I accidentally spent £130 on the Blooming Marvellous site yesterday. Can't bear not having many clothes to wear. If I spend my money now I can make some back by selling everything in Jan!!

george32 · 04/07/2005 16:03

Minnie, PMSL at "popping the buba"

ninah · 04/07/2005 16:03

sweet car seat! I just got given one from lady at work so I am sorted
Let's do a list of essential baby stuff for george and a list of what NOT to buy (there was a good thread on this a while ago george, lots of pple saying don't buy bottle warmers etc - tho I have to say I found mine vg - burping cloths and top and tail baths a nono tho)

Nemo1977 · 04/07/2005 16:07

pmsl
Goerge 10th oct is good day to give up as its my ds 2nd bday

I love being a sahm but it can be monotonous and it is isolating even if u go to mother n baby groups..it has taken me the past 21 mths to become even a little established i.e. to have someone else to talk to..lol Also hard socially as i have lost most of my pre ds friends as we just have different focus now which is sad
God not selling it very well am i...ideal would be working 1/2 days a week just to get out but being home most of time...and those jobs that need doing still dont get done with tots around..pmsl

george32 · 04/07/2005 16:14

Oh, I'm so going to miss my salary!!
Oh god, I'm not supposed to do household things when I'm a SAHM am I?

I bet the sun is shining too isn't it DQ

Nemo1977 · 04/07/2005 16:15

sorry just realised my post is a bit miserable...of course its worht being at home to see ur bundles of joy...just mine being demon today...lol

dramaqueen72 · 04/07/2005 16:15

actually...........yep

george32 · 04/07/2005 16:18

I have a question for those of you who have done this before. During the AML can I claim any money from anywhere apart from child benefit? What about if I leave work at the end of my AML, anything I can claim then?

The intention is that I stop work for a while but it really is scary once the realisation of losing all my pay kicks in.

Nemo1977 · 04/07/2005 16:20

u can also get tax credits if u r entitled

sweetheart · 04/07/2005 16:21

george £130!!!! Wow - even I'm not that bad!!!!!!

not sure about claiming other stuff I'm afraid - I'll be back to work after my maternity leave

Nemo1977 · 04/07/2005 16:22

mmm SH dont i remember u spending £75 on one dress last week..mmmmm

sweetheart · 04/07/2005 16:25

OH DEAR

I can see my credit card getting a hammering soon!!!!!

sweetheart · 04/07/2005 16:25

lol - yes I did. But I'm sending it back!!!

ninah · 04/07/2005 16:27

that's a great link
just stay away from the buying to blow a budget section - how cruel!

This baby is using DD's old stuff. And I'm going to give breastfeeding a try again. Mostly b/c making up feeds is SUCH a pain and I am a lazy git.

Nemo1977 · 04/07/2005 16:40

im gutted that i dont get to do all the shopping again this time [unless i have a girl] as we kept ds stuff. However i did have a pram mission to fullfill and have got it into my head i may buy a new stroller to to cover both events dh will not be happy
