Hi there

I have been on the July thread, but it moves so fast and as I don't have time (or energy being so sleepy), I can't keep up with everyone who is on several times a day! If anyone else wants to join me in a slower thread to share how your pregnancy is developing, feel free!

Wishing you all the best for today Randomama!

I love this thread. Was feeling really fed up that my nausea has returned, and what with the headaches, crampiness down below etc etc....but is so good to hear other people feeling grumpy. Not in a sachenfreude way but just that i'm not alone in my irritability!

EDD tomorrow though since baby only engaged yesterday am thinking he's gonna be a while yet in hotel uterus!

Hope everyone else is well!

ApuskiDusky · 30/06/2010 18:19

Hello all, things have been busy here! Hope everything has gone well today, randomama.

Today is my due date (according to my 12 week scan though according to my dates there's still another few days to go) and nothing is happening as yet. After being pretty chilled, I'm now feeling impatient waiting for things to get going, especially when the midwife starts talking about the plan of what they would do next re induction. Plus the arrival of the due date is the start of all the calls of 'have you had it yet?'.

Hope everyone else is doing well, and coping with the weather!

tobago04 · 30/06/2010 20:48

Hope all went well today randomama
God so many of you are near your EDD,hope it all happens soon for you
Felt really fed up today, was feeling ok about the big baby thing then went and watched a birth programme where the woman was induced 2weeks early due to them thinking it was going to be large and it was nearly 9lbs,they also said that the shoulders can get stuck even if the head comes out,so am totally freaking out now Oh well, will just have to see what they say at my next scan, also worried about my pelvis,it's agony when i turn over or get out of bed and my bump looks huge today and i've got about another 4 and half weeks left, sorry for the moan just don't feel like i've got any one to talk to about it all, have mentioned pelvis pain to midwife and doctor but they just don't say anything

WhatSheSaid · 01/07/2010 07:53

Ooh, I've got a bit of nausea back too, which I didn't get at this stage with 1st pg. Mw said it's prob cos of changing hormone levels. When I saw her Mon she said the baby had moved right down and she kept asking things like "Was your first baby early?" and "Any twinges or contractions yet?". So she obviously thinks labour could start early.

Not sure what I'd do as I'm booked in for c/s on 9th - if I went into labour before that I suppose I'd give it a go...

Got that weird nesting thing going on too, just got a huge urge to clean today, very strange...

ApuskiDusky · 03/07/2010 22:41

Grr, 40+3 now, trying really hard to not get impatient, as it could still be a long time to go.

Hope everything went really well, randomama, looking forward to hearing all about it!

ApuskiDusky · 04/07/2010 11:23

Well, the impatience has worked - ds2 was born this morning at just before 7am, a CS delivery after it was established that his head was not going to fit given his position - after I got to fully dilated on gas & air!

So I'm being looked after well, baby is gorgeous, and I am very tired. And my top tip for getting things going - nipple stimulation! My waters broke after about 20 minutes of 'fiddling'!

tobago04 · 04/07/2010 12:06

Congratulations Apuski, how exciting! Glad you are both doing well, how heavy was he?
Think i might try nipple stimulation nearer the time then as i really don't want to go over, hope you get to have a bit of a rest and recover well x

Twittle · 04/07/2010 12:23

Congratulations Apuski that is great news!!

mumwithbumandtum · 04/07/2010 19:29

Apuski that is BRILLIANT NEWS. Thanks for the tip on getting things going and well done for not being too impatient. I hope you're ok - fully dilated on G&A only then C-section must have been farily tough going so hopefully you've been able to rest a little.

I'm now 38+3, my DS was born at 38+4 so I am leeeeetle impatient now. No signs of anything and each time I go to the loo I check my pants eagerly for a) massive plug or b) start of waters going. Nada.

On the plus side, DS is adorable and has learnt to roar like a lion, spin around with arms out, say the word 'shoe' and generally amaze us with his beautiful personality. (He's 15.5 months), so if I can produce another one like him, I'll be delighted.

Mrs C, I'm eager to hear how you've been getting on. Randomama, likewise. We're in it together...! Whatshesaid - nausea sucks doesn't it...I've found sweet drinks like coke make it 100 x worse. Hope yours clears up x

WhatSheSaid · 04/07/2010 22:11

Congratulations Apuski , I'm pretty impressed you're posting 4 hours after an c/s as well! It must have all happened pretty quickly after your Saturday night post.

Is anyone else due this week or am I likely to be the next one? (c/s on Friday)

randomama · 04/07/2010 22:16

WOW! fab news Apuski! hope you're getting plenty of rest.

well, my little girl, Vita Seabright, joined us on Earthside at half four on Wednesday afternoon, in perfect condition and weighing in at a dainty 6lb 12oz. She's lovely.

Am back home now being looked after ridiculously well. The op was over an hour and a half and I lost a lot of blood and have a HUGE (like 9 inch) scar, but I'm healing well and we are both perfectly fine. The cord snapped as he lifted her out so I'm feeling full of respect for her decision to stay breech (and relieved I went with my gut and didn't do ECV).

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, I can't wait to hear more birth announcements. Sorry it's taken so long to post, this is my 4th attempt!

WhatSheSaid · 05/07/2010 06:26

COngratulations Randomama, glad all went well, great name - is it after Vita Sackville-West?

MelissaM · 05/07/2010 11:52

Congratulations Apuski and Randomama. Hope you are both recovering well and enjoying time with your lo's.

Haven't posted for a while as been v busy with organising DD's 3rd b'day party which went off very smoothly yesterday and we all had a great time. Did have a couple of really painful BH's during it, which made me gasp and hold my breath (not recommended - please remember to breath when you actually have contractions as it hurts much less!) Nothing going on today though. 38+6

randomama · 05/07/2010 13:29

it is indeed after VSW. A passionate, fearless, interesting and inspiring woman.

And Seabright is a family name on my mum's side, and was the name of my Great-Grandmother, who had a c-section for my breech Grandad in 1910!

ApuskiDusky · 05/07/2010 14:56

Congratulations, Randomama, and what a gorgeous name! Hope you're resting well at home, I'm still in hospital, whiling my time away on my iPhone, hoping to be discharged tomorrow.

I have been scanning mumsnet for info on c section recovery, I never really looked into it beforehand . But the arnica is proving useful!

randomama · 05/07/2010 19:53

Apuski I've got arnica, hypericum and bellis perennis all 200c and I am healing well, although I do heal quickly generally anyway. My cut is enormous though. DP had a look this morning and reckons it's nearer 12 inches than the 9 I'd thought ah well, I'll just have to gaze at my baby instead of my belly then eh?!

I've also heard calendula and rose oil are great for massaging the wound with.

Think the most important thing for recovery though is to rest. I'm still mainly hanging out in bed and intend to spend as much time here as I can - it's nice to bed in with Vita as well while she adjusts to life on the outside.

How's everyone else doing? x

skihorse · 05/07/2010 22:42

Just a quickie - my guy was born 1st July )36 + 5)by c-section following a somewhat "traumatic" induction due to a rather sudden onset of pre-eclampsia... it never rains but pours right?

Came home today and he's lovely.

MelissaM · 06/07/2010 08:45

Congratulations skihorse. Hope you manage to get lots of rest and are recovering well from your experience!

Still hoping my lo is in the right position when I go into labour! When I get up in the morning s/he is on my left then moves back to back during the day. Obviously prefers it that way, but killing my back! Anyone got any tips?

mumwithbumandtum · 06/07/2010 12:03

MelissaM try swimming, or spending time on hands and knees - you want the kicks to be on the right hand side. I'm paranoid about this as my DS was an OP birth which was truly tricky.
I'm 38+5 today - DS born at 38+4 so this is the most pregnant I've ever been :-) Had period pains through the night in waves, ate half a pineapple for brekkie but everything has simmered down...going to take the dog for a walk now. Just wondering, does anyone live in Glasgow / surrounding area?
MWB&T x
p.s. C-Section ladies - very impressed by your high IT tech knowledge, being able to use internet in hospital, pretty cool huh! Wishing you all quick and comfortable recoveries.

tobago04 · 06/07/2010 15:51

Congratulations Ski,sorry it was traumatic but glad you are both doing well now x
Just come back from my growth scan and am soooo relieved,it's weight seems to have slowed down and it's about 6lb 7oz at 36+1,so i can start relaxing a bit now,
I'm also doing all i can to reduce the chance of a back to back baby but think they just get into a position they like, have been watching tv whilst leaning on my exercise ball and sleeping on my left side, only time will tell if it's worked as baby still feels like it's doing somersaults!
Good luck everyone, wonder who'll be next!

MelissaM · 07/07/2010 22:32

Thanks MWB&T will give your suggestions a go. Annoying lo was is the right place this morning, but is back to back again (and making some very bizarre movements) . Hope you get to meet your lo soon - sounds like s/he is getting ready to make an appearance. Sorry I don't like in the Glasgow area - I'm in Winchester.

tobago I'm glad that your growth scan has put your mind at rest and that you can relax.

WhatSheSaid · 08/07/2010 00:11

Congrats Skihorse hope you are doing OK. I had an induction and emergency c/sec with dd due to high blood pressure so I remember how it feels! Take it easy and hope you're both well.

24 hours to go for me...

Twittle · 08/07/2010 21:54

Good Luck for tomorrow WhatSSaid!

Congratulations Ski glad that everything is ok and now you can enjoy your little boy!

MelissaM I second what MWB&T said my midwife told me that years ago when we had floors that needed scrubbing lots of babies turned the right way and so it sounds like getting on your hands and knees should help, also swimming (or floating around on your tummy in a pool...)!! Fingers crossed, my baby has now apparently turned at the last appointment but goodness knows which way he or she will be next week - certainly keeping me guessing with the kicks so fingers crossed!!

Hope everyone else with bumps are still hanging in there and those with babies on the outside are also hanging in there and getting some rest, we are all on the countdown now!!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 09/07/2010 17:27

Scrubbing will indeed make a baby turn, mine was fine until I had to scrub floors (very sick dog!) and then he turned breech! [hmm

Good luck whatshesaid - any news for us yet?

I am enjoying my little boy, although a little over-tired as my boyfriend is proving to be more neurotic than any first time super-neurotic mummy - which means he's not looking after himself and now I'm worrying about him.

mrscrocoduck · 09/07/2010 19:48

Congrats to all you mummies!

I've been having persistently strong period pain all afternoon. Baby also seems to have dropped rather dramatically. Was hoping earlier today it was early early labour but not so sure now. Would be early if it was (19 days to go) but still hoping! I've definitely reached the 'get-it-out' stage!!

ski I have a wonderful hubby like that. I always end up worrying about him because he's always insisting he can do everything as well as worrying about everything. Nightmare! Hope he gets a rest and calms down a bit for you soon!

random love 'Vita'! x
