Hi there

I have been on the July thread, but it moves so fast and as I don't have time (or energy being so sleepy), I can't keep up with everyone who is on several times a day! If anyone else wants to join me in a slower thread to share how your pregnancy is developing, feel free!

Hi All

Due 27 July

Not posted for aaaages but no i'm on maternity leave so have some time to waste myself

Can't believe i've only got just over a month to go...all the babies i know were born this year have been early, is quite scary but very exciting!

Exhausted now, although hopefully midday snoozing will help. Also getting so used to disrupted sleep (5 times peeing a night ) that i'm sure it's all good practice for the real thing...

baby seems to get more and more active, which i find a bit odd...surely its running out of room by now?! sometimes it just sits in the most bizarre position, with its bum practically hanging out of my right side. Every midwife appointment recently it's been head down, which is good at least.

hope everyone's ok and looking forward to their new arrival

skihorse · 23/06/2010 20:46

hello everyone. Well I had a fright about 2 weeks ago when I found out my little champ had decided that no, he didn't want to be head down - and he turned breech for about 10 days. I was very very stressed and it would've been a c-section for me.

Thankfully he'd turned again by last Tuesday and has been engaged since at least then - a lot less wriggling - he's gone and got himself stuck!

I had terrible sciatica when he was breech but since he's been engaged no pain at all which has been wonderful. Pelvis feels good, all feels good.

Finish work on Friday which I'll be very thankful for as the last couple of weeks have been very busy as I've been covering for my manager - you always get the interesting work at the wrong time right?

Due around 16th July... so we'll see what he fancies doing. MW said last week she didn't think it'd be that long...

mumwithbumandtum · 24/06/2010 17:59

I don't want to be pregnant any more. I'm fed up. I haven't got the energy to look after my 15 month old. Or the dog. I just want to curl up and cry. I am moody, I yell at the dog, I feel sick most of the time and all I want to do is sleep for a million years. 37 weeks today and had a bit of blood in pants last night. Dreading labour. V negative post, scuse me. X

mumwith - sorry you're feeling down, maybe worth remembering that it will all soon be 'over' (well, pregnancy will be!). Definitely worth trying to get someone to help, even for a few hours so you can sleep/get some fresh air/whatever you need most.

Emsie I'm totally with you on the position thing - mine still seems to be turning loads. i'm bouncing on my ball like a mad woman every day in the hope the little monkey will just get its head down there and stop moving so much .

Still freaks me out a little that it could happen any day now...does anyone ever feel ready for the birth??!! i have everything i need practically, but mentally i'm not so sure...EEEEEK!

MelissaM · 25/06/2010 13:51

mumwith sorry you're feeling down. It is hard being pg when you already have a lo, esp if u can't get any help from anyone. I'm having the same kind of day today. Just cried in front of dd, and now bellowed at her as she broke the mouse on PC and lost the post I had been typing. Wish I cld get some help today but everyone I know seems to be on holiday, or busy! Typical - you always get offers when you don't need them and can cope fine.

Blood cld be a sign of things starting, especially if with jelly like discharge (sorry if too much info), but always best to get checked out if not sure. Although for first timers, don't get too excited when you have a show - I had one 4 wks before dd was born (and it continued for the whole4 wks).

Emsie where you are feeling the hiccups cld be the bum. DD had hiccups every day and I cld definitely feel it through her bum (if you think about it you hiccup with your diaphram, so it is your whole body that moves).

Right gotta go otherwise dd is going to drive me completely insane!!

lifeistooshort · 25/06/2010 16:21

Hi everyone

I thought I would pop in quickly to see how you are all doing and if we have had any babies yet on the thread. Not long now, who will be the first?

lifeistooshort · 25/06/2010 16:26

Hmmm sounds like mumwithabum is in the race! It might either be show and a sign that things are starting or not. If not, best get yoursefl checked at the assessment unit.

mumwithbumandtum · 25/06/2010 20:18

I'm still here...! Had a better day, thanks for your lovely messages. I found a herbal tea which really helps with sleep, it's made by Pukka and is called sleep time or something. Probably full of herbs I shouldn't take when pregnant, but I managed a full 8 hours sleep in a row, with no pee break! Amazing. Felt a different person today. No more blood in pants. no more yelling at dog. Managed to look after 15 month old all day whilst remaining calm. Now having twinges in bottom right of bump, but could be anything. Going to roll on birth ball, watch eastenders, have supper, bath, tea and bed. Am just dreading labour but must centre self and not panic. Good luck everyone else...any other grumps out there? x

mrscrocoduck · 26/06/2010 19:09

SO wish I'd read this yesterday mumwith. We had a shared experience. Day from HELL. Am also finding it IMPOSSIBLE to look after toddler (2.5) as have no energy left anymore and a slightly painful pelvis which is restricting my movement. We used to do loads together and were hardly in and now she's really frustrated and behaving abominally making it all worse. I cried in front of her and hubby... you are most certainly not alone.

Twittle · 26/06/2010 19:16

Hi All

MumWB&T glad that you are feeling better and that the herbal tea helped - shouldn't worry about the herbs in it, I'm sure they can't hurt now just count them as part of your five a day - that way things look even better!!

Lits I wondered the same about whether any babies had arrived early although doesn't seem like they have at the moment!

My little wriggler is head down but not engaged and back to back although with just over four weeks to go I am sure that the baby will get into lots more different positions before it chooses one - hopefully it's the right one...!!!

Just done a car boot today and did quite well , have been fruit picking, swimming (but only for 15 mins and washed my car so am now pretty knackered and am going to sit down I think for the rest of the evening (would like to be sitting down with a large bottle of white wine but shall take comfort in the knowledge that I will be able to do that soon(ish)!!!!!!

Hope everyone is managing with the raging sun (although it is lovely to have it warm), HollyFP you sound really prepared, I really need to sort myself out and make sure that I have the things I need, I did get a pram the other day but can't actually manage to put it up (am waiting for some lessons from my sister)..... how am I going to manage with a baby if I can't even put the sodding pram together....???!!!!

Apologies for the long post my fingers ran away with me on the keyboard!!

mumwithbumandtum · 26/06/2010 21:17

Hello Mrs Crocoduck - when's your due date? Think it's just infinitely harder when we're a) emotional, b)know what's coming and freaking out c) have energetic and perhaps slightly confused / clingy toddlers d) exhausted from getting up at ten to 7 ever morning, rather than pre-baby one when you could get up at noon on mat leave if you wanted.
Another gripe - my mum and step dad seem to think it's normal / perfectly ok to ask how 'fat' I am. (We live 6 hours apart so they haven't seen me in a while). I was expecting my mum to say it again and I had a response lined up, along the lines of 'I am not FAT I'm PREGNANT' but was stunned when tonight my stepfather asked how fat I was. I asked how fat he was, he laughed and said 'very'. I replied, 'well you'd better go on a diet then'. GRRRRRRRR And the most irritating thing is I've only put on 9 kgs, which makes me the least fat pregnant person alive. In my opinion....am sure there are lots of you who've put on less. Gripe over. Back to being moody and wanting to yell at the dog.

tobago04 · 27/06/2010 21:16

Hi all,
wow this threads got a bit busier,
pelvis hasn't been too bad thanks twittle, well it hasn't got any worse anyway,
Glad your feeling better mumwith,i know what you mean about relatives with no tac, last weekend i was eating chocolate cake and double cream and DH's nan said to me 'no wonder your fat'!! I've only put on about 9kg too! Good job i know what shes like and can just take it with a pinch of salt and laugh about it,
Had busy weekend, went to see mama mia on a London a day trip,it was great but very tiring, got picked up at 7.30am and got home at 10.30pm,had braxton hicks all the way home too and baby didn't stop moving all day.
Then today i've been to a Christening, looking forward to tomorrow when dd's are at School and Nursery and i can just chill
Who is due first? I know i'm the last, how exciting is it getting?!

randomama · 28/06/2010 07:48

New date 30th June (ELCS)

Hi,
Hope everyone's doing well and feeling ok in these last few weeks!

mumwith I feel the same - DS is 3 next week and it's sooo hard sometimes just keeping up the energy to be mum! He's HIGH VOLTAGE!!! Had his family party yesterday and I've got his friends party today - 10 toddlers plus parents... have sooooooo much tidying to do. Thank God it's sunny at least they can play outside!

I went to the consultant last week and had a scan - my breech baby is in the splits - one foot in my pelvic outlet and one up by its ears under my ribs - so basically she's impossible to birth. I'd been really excited about birthing my breech baby so it's been a bit of a mindfuck coming to terms with the fact that I'm going to have an elective c-section on Wednesday!!! I'm feeling positive now and ready to embrace this whole new experience, but it's taken some getting used to. I was so lucky with DS - had a beautiful home waterbirth - and I was expecting the same. But the main thing is she's going to come out and thank God we live in the 21st century and we get to know these things and do something about them.

Gah sorry, as ever, another long and self indulgent post!

Wishing happy healthy end of pregnancy vibes to all. Here's wishing for a breeze!!!

xoxox

WhatSheSaid · 28/06/2010 08:09

Wow, Randomama, elec c/s in 2 days!

Sorry it's not the birth you were planning but like you say, main thing is to get the baby out safely.

I'm having elec c/s 9th July, don't worry, c/ses are fine, though obviously not the same as a water birth! Make sure to take it easy and keep up with all the pain medsd they give you afterwards - though I was never really in pain, just uncomfortable - but that's prob because I kept up with the meds!

Also, if you're planning to bf, I found it easiest lying down - but everyone is different on that.

skihorse · 28/06/2010 09:01

randomama Congratulations on seeing your baby in just 2 days! But I am sorry it's not going to be the way you wanted it to be. When my little fella was breech a couple of weeks ago I went in to shock and got my head around the C-section... then went in to meltdown (again) when he turned and have had to get my head back around a regular birth. At least this technology will hopefully save us mad rushes, panic, pain & trauma on the day!

tobago04 · 28/06/2010 09:22

How exciting randomama ! Sorry it's not the way you'd planned, can't believe you'll have your little one in two days and i've still got 5wks!
Anyway good luck for Wednesday! x

MelissaM · 28/06/2010 11:33

Wow randomama - that's so cool that you're going to get to meet your lo on Wednesday. Shame not the hwb you had planned, but you sound to be at ease with the whole idea, which is great. Apparently, you can insist on your music being played during the cs if you want (rather than listening to surgeon's dodgy tunes), so can still make some choices. Hope you aren't too uncomfortable afterwards.

my lo is back to back, although does keep moving about. head down luckily though, and seems to be staying that way. We thought s/he was on the way on Saturday as was having twinges every 8 mins walking round Ikea, that continued when got home. But all stopped when I went to bed. Just packed pool back away, so dining table can go back as fed up of walking round it. Nesting instinct has set in now though (finally) - cleaned all the windows and mirrors in the house this morning.

mumwithbumandtum · 29/06/2010 17:12

Ramdomama - a mindfuck for sure but definitely a good outcome - better to have ELCS if she's in a tricky position.

Melissa - mine is also back to back, as was last one (36 hour labour, syntocin, 3 ARMS, manual turning of baby 3 times, forceps, epi) ARGH. V worried about a repeat so have been trying to turn it, but perhaps it's just the shape of my pelvis. Hope yours turns...!

Have been feeling nausea again, really irritable again (I promise I'm a nice person when I'm not 9 months pregnant!), twinges, period pains, back ache...I just want this over and done with!! Guess it's going to happen sooner or later hey.

Anyhow, good luck all for tonight / tomorrow in case anyone pops...

XX

mrscrocoduck · 29/06/2010 21:16

Hi all!
MASSIVE BEST WISHES FOR TOMORROW random so exciting that you'll be holding your baby soon.
Can't wait for the good news!

mumwith my due date is 28th July. When's yours again?

I'm starting to wonder if we're not the same person...?! I've been feeling nauseous today too and getting period pains and muchos pelvic and back aches. SOooooo tedious. I have the odd rare flash of excitement about having another baby. But, trust me, they're fleeting. It's so different this time round. You know (possibly) what's coming and how hard it'll be afterwards. Plus, I think family and friends make less of a fuss once you've had one.

I remember when we told family in january. Barely a whisper, apart from SIL who looked pissed off that it wasn't her and then went on to say as much! I'd happily give her my heartburn and painful pelvis right now!!

randomama · 29/06/2010 21:31

thanks so much for your positive vibes everyone!
I'm super excited about meeting her now (with flashes of utter panic! agh a new baby! I hope she likes me!!!)
I hope you all feel better soon and the twinges and period pains quickly turn into the pounding rhythms that sound out your little ones' arrivals!!!
I'll be back on to let you know how she is when I get out of the joint
x

HollyFP · 30/06/2010 10:13

Hi All

Just been for my 36 week check-up with midwife. The baby was doing some seriously mad movements in there, and she couldn't actually tell what position it was in...it kept moving every time she touched my belly. She reassured me there's time for baby to get into the right position still, but now I have some small dark voice on my shoulder whispering that it won't turn in time...it's been head down for every appointment for the last 4 times FGS!

is there anything i can do to help it move head down again? i am still bouncing on my ball, and most days am on hands and knees for 30 mins or so. any other tips?!
Thanks

HollyFP · 30/06/2010 10:14

Forgot to say, good luck Randomama! So so exciting!

mumwithbumandtum · 30/06/2010 14:59

I've heard that doing a handstand in a swimming pool or against and ironing board supported by a sofa can help (although not sure what the life guards would say if you attempted the first).

I've flipped mine from back to back to right position today :-) Went swimming for half an hour and next time I felt a kick it was in bottom right side of tum rather than bottom left.

Had a wierd old night - Mrs C let me know if we really are the same person - woke at 3.30 with mad BHs, one or two lasting well over a minute and with period cramps. Got overexcited thinking FINALLY something was happening, but true to form, they petered out, irregular and useless. Have just eaten more pineapple, and was actually thinking perhaps having sex when you're having BHs may be what's needed to get things going?? Will report back tomorrow (will be 38 weeks tomorrow, DS1 born at 38+4)

I just wish I could stop feeling nauseous and irritable, although I know the 6 months of leaking boobs and sleepless nights are hardly going to make me the most chilled happy person on the planet.

Randomama, I can't wait to hear your BA.

Twittle · 30/06/2010 17:29

Randomama hope everything has gone well today!

Holly I had a 36 week check up today as well and my baby has turned from back to back to anterior which is better but could just as easily turn back again so I shouldn't worry I am sure that there is plenty of time and you are doing all the right things i.e. bouncing on ball - midwife did mention to me that swimming really helps if you swim on your front she didn't say anything about the handstands - but maybe worth a try!!!!

MumWB&T & MrsCroc help the pains are subsiding for you both, I have just started to get fat ankles (don't think the heat helps) so I guess we have got to the stage when things start to go downhill?!?!

Off out for a curry tonight so hope I don't regret it in the morning!!!!!

Hope everyone else is well!
