Hi there

I have been on the July thread, but it moves so fast and as I don't have time (or energy being so sleepy), I can't keep up with everyone who is on several times a day! If anyone else wants to join me in a slower thread to share how your pregnancy is developing, feel free!

FlowerBee my brain cells are obviously not working (again) as I am at the end of July (27th) and so you are much sooner than I am (lucky you.....)! Sounds like you will have your hands full as well what with sitting exams and moving house - are you a glutton for punishment! At least now I am not feeling so unprepared as have got an extra few weeks to start getting things ready!!!

HollyFP · 19/05/2010 12:49

Twittle we are due on the same day! Not sure if i knew that already.

Has any had Braxton Hicks contractions yet? I have had tightenings recently and then read yesterday that BH was exactly that...so i don't know if they were or if it was just my bump sitting in a funny position (as always!) Is very bizarre to think that my body is 'gearing up for labour' already

Twittle · 19/05/2010 16:13

Hi HollyFP I knew there was someone due on the same day as me! I am hoping that maybe I might be a little early - although obviously not too early!! Braxton Hicks contractions - I suppose I would know if I was experiencing those wouldn't I.... ??

Can't believe we are 30 weeks now and only 10 to go phewee, I suppose in a way it has gone quite quickly although then again it has seemed to be a long time since last October when I first found out!!

Hope everyone else is doing well?!

tobago04 · 20/05/2010 10:09

Hi all,
I had BH quite a lot the other other week, although still never really sure if it's that or just the baby getting into a strange position,
Not much going on with me really, had bloods done last week and anti d injection in my bum!
Oh and have started feeling like an old woman when i get up or out of bed,my whole pelvis aches until i've moved around a bit, thats what carrying no.3 does for you i suppose.
Am also getting a bit annoyed at the constant kicks, don't mind when it's at the side but it rally hurts when it kicks out in front!
My pushchair arrived yesterday, got a bargain on ebay, went for a Britax B smart in the end,it's great, really pleased with it,although it's quite big,but at least it will make people move out the way

WestYorkshireGirl · 20/05/2010 20:50

Hi

I started this thread, but had to leave when I had a mc early Jan at 12 weeks. I thought I'd drop by and let some of the original posters know e.g. Tobago and Gibbon that I got a BFP yesterday so am back in business and will be catching you up! Hope everything going well for you all.

Scruffers · 27/05/2010 12:04

Hello everyone. Has anyone else seen their bump drop considerably recently? I'm 34 weeks pregnant and although my bump has always been out front and pretty low it is now almost in my lap when I sit! Does anyone know whether this means the baby is likely to come soon or do I have a few weeks?

Twittle · 27/05/2010 16:06

Hi All - hope everyone has well, it seems to have gone very quiet on our thread again of late!

Scruffers sorry I have no idea what a low bump means but if it means not waiting for 40 weeks then I hope mine gets lower too... !

Had midwife check up yesterday, all well and she reckons that I am on target for a 9 pounder.... I can't see it myself but then who knows!

I know I shouldn't wish it away but I am willing on the next 9 weeks (or less)! My bump is really growing now, everyone keeps commenting on it from which I can only deduce that I was either fairly small and compact before, or that I really am huge now!!! Although I can still paint my toenails myself (only recently got the urge to do so) and so that's good news!!

tobago04 · 31/05/2010 12:54

Hi all,
hope everyone's having a good bank holiday,
not sure if a low bump means it will come early Scruffers but at least it's going in the right direction
nothing much to report just have really achy hips when i get up,hope it doesn't get any worse
Just about got everything for the baby now,we got rid off everything so I've had to get everything new,it's quite nice though, any excuse to go shopping!
Got my growth scan a week today, bit scared and excited,as long as they don't say it's already 7lbs or something!
Hope everyone else is ok x

Twittle · 02/06/2010 13:16

Hello everyone - hope you are faring better than me at the moment?! I am off to the doctor's tonight as am fairly sure that I am now suffering with SPD. Have been really active up until now (perhaps too much so) but last night I couldn't even turn over in bed as it was too painful .

I suppose at least I only have 8 weeks to go although at the moment even that is seeming like I will never manage to last it out!

ApuskiDusky · 03/06/2010 09:23

Hi all. Sorry to hear about the SPD, Twittle, mine has come back with a vengeance too, and I can't see the physio until next Thursday. I saw the midwife yesterday, and her only suggestion was prescription painkillers, but I'm going to struggle on with paracetamol for now.

I still haven't done anything more re my hospital bag, I must get a shifty on as I'm now 36 weeks.

Hope everyone is doing well! It's getting hotter again!

Twittle · 03/06/2010 10:01

Thanks Apuski saw the GP last night and am getting referred for physio so hopefully that will help!

It sure is going to be a scorcher today, I am almost glad that I am sat in a fairly cool office (as it's in the shade rather than has air con)....... I say almost as boy a sun tan would feel good at the moment!!

tobago04 · 03/06/2010 18:16

Wow Apuski only four weeks to go for you then! May be should start putting our EDD's at the top of our posts now it's getting nearer

mrscrocoduck · 04/06/2010 20:20

[28th July]

That's a good idea!

I hope all you suffering with SPD and other back/pelvis pain are getting help quickly. I had a physio appointment a fortnight ago and thanks to her advice I haven't had any more stiffness in bed or back ache during the day.

I'm getting fat fat fat now :-( but can't stop eating.... oh well!

tobago04 · 04/06/2010 20:48

2nd August [hoping it will be early like my other two]

What advice did she give you mrscro,i'm finding i get really stiff if i've been lying down or sitting for too long, although i also ache if i walk too far, can't win! I'm going to ask at my scan next week but any tips/advice you could give me til then would be great

skihorse · 07/06/2010 08:32

Oh dear - we're really, really having babies aren't we?

I'm now rapidly approaching 34 weeks and as he's due a bit early basically he's going to be here as early as 3 weeks, at MOST - 8.

Bizarrely I'm feeling (still) physically so much better than I did earlier in the pregnancy. I'm getting puffy feet in this weather but I'm just glad I can wear comfy sandals (not croc heaven forbid ) rather than having to squeeze my feet in to proper winter shoes!

I've had yet another 2 4D scans last week (monday and saturday) - I'm loving seeing him but I keep having to go back because the little bugger is sleeping! At least she lets us go back for free... although at this rate he'll be with me the morning after I get some decent photos!

mrscrocoduck · 07/06/2010 19:32

tobago04 I'll see what I can remember. I can't say that I'm without stiffness at all but am certainly without pain which has been quite a breakthrough.

When she first began I thought her advice was going to be useless but the more she said the better it got! Ignore anything obvious that you're already doing but give the exercise a go:

  • wear proper foot support. No crocs or ballet style slip ons. Go for sandals with support and a bit of a substantial sole/little heel like birkenstock. Trainers are great but not always in this weather as far as I'm concerned!
  • put a cushion/pillow in the small of your back when you're sitting.
  • avoid sitting or walking for periods longer than 20 minutes. Alternate so your circulation doesn't suffer.
  • Lying down flat on your back is not good if you've got back pain or stiffness anyway. She advised that you try to sleep propped up. She showed us how with a wedge of pillows behind her but I couldn't get them to stay still in my bed. There are triangular wedged pillows out there though so have a look on the internet. I found that my bedtime improved dramatically when I bought a maternity pillow
from john lewis. I didn't think it'd help because putting a pillow between my legs didn't. But it's helped a lot. I still wake up every time I need to move but it's not painful any more.
  • Exercise: this is great and I think has made all the difference for me. You do it periodically throughout the day - for instance when you're walking about, I try to whenever I'm out pushing the pushchair around. You need to breathe out and on your breathe back in pull in your abdomonal muscles as though trying to zip up some really tight trousers and hold the muscles like that for as long as you can. You need to still be able to talk and breathe normally whilst doing it. It's to strengthen the core muscles. She also suggested using it to brace yourself if getting up from a sitting position or reaching up for something, etc.

That's the stuff I remember the most. I hope some of it's helpful.

I'd also recommend a birthing ball. I love leaning on mine and resting my back like that in the evenings.

But sounds like we're both a bit worn out from previous pregnancies so I think that the core muscle exercise I've just described might be the best thing.

Hope the scan goes well :-)Can i be nosey and ask why you're having one so late on? I have one scheduled for 36weeks but that's post-surgery so they're checking the baby's growth.

tobago04 · 07/06/2010 20:28

Thanks mrscro really appreciate it,will defo try the core exercises as they definitely feel week after two other pregnancies,i have been sleeping with a pillow between my legs but it only helps a little so think i will try a maternity pillow,
i've got a birthing ball but have been to lazy to use it but will try that too, thanks again for taking the time to reply,
don't mind you asking at all,I'm having a scan tomorrow and I've got another one at 36weeks to check the babies growth, apparently dd2 was quite big for my frame, she was 8lb 2oz and I'm only 5ft 4" and usually a size 8,don't quite know what they will do if it looks like its going to be big, other than freak me out!
So I'm looking forward to seeing him/her again but worried at the same time, definitely feels heavy but that's probably just my crap pelvis
Will let you know how i get on

Twittle · 08/06/2010 11:56

(July 27th or 28th - I have both dates on my notes in different places)!!

Saw Physio yesterday and she said that the pelvic pain was due to too much exercise, have since knocked the 4/5 mile walks on the head but am going to try a 2miler today and see how I get on. I was told to do exercises that MrsCroc has mentioned and so am going to try and do them daily although I have to say I am not very good at core muscle exercises as am never convinced that I am doing them right as they are such subtle movements ! Can't believe we are all really on the home run now - I'm 33 weeks tomorrow (and getting nervous now....)!! I am off to Cornwall for a few days on Thursday so looking forward to a 3 day holiday with DH the last one for a while as a twosome no doubt!!

Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the cooler weather - boy how hot was last week!!

mumwithbumandtum · 08/06/2010 14:20

15th July

Hello everyone...newbie here. I've been reading the Due in July board for ages but not posted yet. Wanted to say hi and can I join in?? I'm due on my husband's birthday...bad luck me. Feeling pretty tired as still at work and have a 15 month old toddler, but finish up tomorrow and am looking forward to getting some quality rest. Look forward to getting to know you!

tobago04 · 08/06/2010 19:59

2nd Aug no.3

Welcome *mumwithbumandtum,

Well no wonder my bloody pelvis has been hurting, went for my growth scan today and it's just under 6lbs already!!!! I've got 8wks to go! Am seriously crapping myself now,the doctor said they put about half a pound on a week til full term so I'm looking at a 10 pounder!
Got to go for a diabetes test next week just in case it's that but doctor just thinks it's healthy,
It was nice seeing him or her again,it's got lots of hair and it's face was really clear, she said it had got chubby cheeks
Anyway hope everyone else is ok

Twittle · 09/06/2010 11:56

Hello & Welcome mumwithb&t Tobago, a 10 pounder....wow!! Hope that's not why I have got pelvic pain as well although I have been told that I am on target for 9 pounder .. although I can't quite believe it looking at my bump?! That's amazing that you could see so much of your baby, chubby cheeks already, sounds like you are having a little cutie!!
