Well found out this morning that I am pg!! 3 weeks and 4 days so pretty early days yet though!

Been trying for a fair while but first month using OPKs so would highly recommend them.

Will introduce myself anyway - dh and I both 26 with a 17 month old ds. Am so excited to be pg again even though it was a bit of a rough ride last time around!

Crumbs I'm going to log on tomorrow lunchtime to see how you are marne. Not too long to wait now - I hope you get some sleep and rest tonight. Old FOol had a similar experience I think and I think/hope she is ok?

ahem, just to add to other debate -- we haven't done it for ages!! I simply can't be bothered and I don't fancy having my fat tummy squashed. Poor DH. Feel a little bit guilty about the christopher ecclestone thing..

New maternity jeans arrived today yippee!!!

where did you get your mat jeans from newgirl?

Report
swiperfox · 24/08/2005 17:04

lol i was just about to ask too! Mine from Next are useless!!!

Report
desperatehousewife · 24/08/2005 17:05

I bought mine from a little local mat shop and paid a huge amount for them (stupidly) and I hate them. They are really comfy but they're too big and do nothing for me. Just look like a stocky geezer (and I'm 5foot 11"!)

swiperfox · 24/08/2005 17:07

I've had to buy a belt for mine but they are such an odd shape (either that or i am!) I guess they might be better once i've actually got a proper big belly but for now i look ridiculous!!

We're not doing it either - mainly because of my SPD, meaning I have to keep my legs closed at all times. Dh not happy, but when he complains I ask him if he'd prefer a wife in a wheelchair.

I had a massive craving for home made cauliflower cheese today, so I bundled the children into the car in this weather, drove all the way to sainsbury's, bought the ingredients, drove home and cooked it from scratch - took about 2 hours from start of craving, but it was soooo worth it!

yum rosie. That actually sounds really nice. Maybe I could eat that...? I'm sick of thinking I can eat something and trying it and throwing it away...grrrrr.

Sorry rosie to be ignorant, but what's spd?

Report
swiperfox · 24/08/2005 17:12

RP have you had spd before? I didn't have it with DD but had it terribly with DS, I had to wear a big elastic belt thing all the time, just wondering if it's likely to come back now i've had it once...

SPD - symphisis pubis disfunction, where ligaments soften in pregnancy too early ( this happens during labour to let baby out, but much earlier with SPD ).

I didn't have it with first pregnancy, and had it in the last trimester of my second pg. Blimmin' painful! I'm getting quite twingy again already, so am doing everything to minimise the damage - ie no sex, no walking etc. .

I've heard some people say they've had it once, but not again Swiperfox, but I think the general pattern is that it gets worse with each pregnancy . I've even borrowed my SIL's old crutches just in case, and have bought a big physio belt.

oh god - what a nightmare. This pregnancy lark isn't all it's cracked up to be is it? I know so few people who have actually had an easy ride with it (either pre-natal or post-natal).

Hope you are both going to be alright this time round.

Thanks DHW. Atleast I know that however disabled I get whilst pg, the SPD almost always goes once the baby is born. Must admit though, this baby wasn't planned, and when I found out I was bloody terrified! Dh's family has been great though and have said they will pay for a cleaner or even some help with the children if I get too immobile.

Report
desperatehousewife · 24/08/2005 17:29

get a cleaner NOW girl - seriously!

swiperfox · 24/08/2005 17:30

How much was your physio belt? i threw mine away but i better get one in case.

DHW when the ligaments soften too early your pelvis moves apart slightly and thats what hurts!

RP this one wasn't planned for me either and i'm terrified!!!!

Report
RosiePosie · 24/08/2005 17:36

thanks swiperfox - yes, sorry I didn't explain it very well. You can feel the pelvis kind of clicking and grinding together, really painful! I found the only thing that stopped it hurting last time was basically sitting on my bum all day doing nothing! And of course as the baby gets bigger it gets more and more painful.

I got this one swiperfox www.physiomedhomecare.co.uk/catalogue_detail.asp?cat=CaringForYourBack&name=Caring+for+your+back&offset=15

sorry, can't do links - you'll have to copy and paste it. It's VERY attractive, lolol.

That one was recommended to me by someone on another site who has SPD - her physio recommended it to her.

Report
swiperfox · 24/08/2005 17:40

32.00?!?! Blimey!!

Mine was free from the physio dept at the hospital, looked pretty much the same but white and really did help.

Report
RosiePosie · 24/08/2005 17:46

Yeah, I know! I'll sell it on eBay afterwards though. I'm avoiding the physio if I can because if the MW refers me she has to inform the hospital consultant and I'm avoiding him too, because he might get iffy about my planned homebirth, and I can do without the hassle. So, unless things get too horrendous I'm diagnosing and treating myself. The MW is on my side though, I've got a good one - the one I had last time hadn't even heard of the condition.

Report
swiperfox · 24/08/2005 17:52

My doctor was like that - i figured out myself that i had it and when i told the doc he juist said "What?" "never heard of it"!!! Made me feel very stupid!! Luckily the MW was brill about it!!
