Congrats legscrossed

Whoever asked about sex - spooning or on top works best. If you go on top, get your DH to sit on the edge of the bed, and hold the bottom of your back and help you move too iyswim. We are all not going to be swinging from chandeliers as heavily pg as we are! You don't have to have full sex either.

Re discharge - yes, same as you. Is very normal indeed.

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 29/11/2009 19:07

Hmm tried going on top, on the sofa, but DH seems to have put on a bit of weight since the last time we had sex (poor bloke, not much else to do but eat!) so it just proved impossible.

We are not deterred and will try the spooning with pillow! Thanks! x

And discharge, yep, feels like I've wet myself all the time - grim

ARGGH - after waiting for the plumber to come and mend our water pipe leak ALL weekend (from 9am yesterday) he finally turns up at 3:30. By 4 he's gone, says all fixed and we went straight out. Came home to run DD's bath and no water... Seems he has 'mended' it by stopping water working at all. Just waiting to go into labour and have the old 'hot bath' speech from the maternity ward only to find we have none.

Glad to hear that the other kind of watery leak sounds normal. Ah the glamour of pregnancy!

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 29/11/2009 22:38

Congrats to all who have their little ones since my last message!

A friend of ours who was due a few days after me, had her DS this morning and I'm now getting impatient! Finally got round to packing my hospital bag today, although it only has basics in it. Filled a change bag for Baby, whoever asked earlier, only packed 2 vests, 2 sleepsuits, socks, scratch mits, hat and a cardi. Have a blanket and baby coat rolled up in the car seat as won't need them in the hospital. Remember there isn't a lot of space to store things in the hospital cabinets.

While DH and I were sorting out the bags in the nursery, DD (age 3) was fussing around the moses basket and put her doll in there. She then set the baby monitor to play songs (was very that she could remember it played songs and how to use it) and stood there gently rocking the moses basket. DH and I then got told to Shh as her baby was sleeping. It was so so cute and hopefully this means she'll have no problems being a big sister . Also sorted her out a little basket with nappy changing bits for when she helps me with the new baby.

DD has finally got a "best friend" at pre school. Only problem is this girl has the same name we'd picked for the new baby. Should we have a girl (as last scan seemed to indicate) will calling her new sister the same name as her friend confuse DD?

Scorps · 30/11/2009 09:26

biscuits - in our hospital you have to pack nappies too

I'm in for a home birth so i have a very small bag:

2 vests
2 sleepsuits
hat
jacket (& blanket in car)
4 nappies

pyjamas for after
big tshirt for birthing in
breast pads
sleep nursing bra
BIG pants
maternity pads
Shower gel/shampoo in one (ok for a day lol)

If you are planning a stay in hospital, even one night, i would double the sleepsuit number and the nappy number. They dribble/spit up milk loads and you have never seen anything like their first poos You need ALOT of maternity pads too, breast pads not so much as milk doesnt 'come in' for 3-4 days. Cotton wool and warm water best for small bums, you get the cotton woll in our hospital but you might not in yours. If you want to FF the hospital give you that for your stay.

Baby has to have a car seat to go home in too.

I'm 36+3 now, and slowly starting to have enough and really slow down. She could be here in 2 weeks, but it could easily be 5 weeks. Arrgghh!

Catz I hope you get your hot water back!! Our central heating keeps playing up

I am now 2 days overdue and fed up..... especially of well meaning people saying.....'have you not had that baby yet' I just want to reply.....'does it look like i have. slept for 2 hours last night and was in agony with hips, shoulders, arm, wrist (carpal tunnel is getting me down as now cant drive with it!!). dp took dd to school so i could avoid the constant questions but even at my local shop they are asking me!!!!! NOw to cap it all i have turned the house upside down looking for something that was exactly where it should be! NOw i have a bad tummy and can hear next doors baby crying adn want to SCCCCRRREEEAAMM!!!

Congrats to legscrossed and all the other lucky ladies!!!!!!

Scorps · 30/11/2009 09:30

Buscuits - my ds2 was 3.5 when dd1 was born, it has been the best age gap yet! He is still ever so loving of her, though he was very keen to 'help' and once picked her up at 10 days old when i was in the toilet! I think the same nmae will be fine, she is old enough to differantiate (sp?) between the two now, and a familiar name may be helpful. She will be fine

I'm worried about dd1 (19 months), she is VERY clingy to me, sits next to me all day, holding open her arms for hugs and won't even let Daddy (usual favourite!) to do her bedtime milk. I could be BF dd2 in only 3 weeks all day, am a bit worried but at least Xmas is coming up and we have enough £ for DH to have 4 weeks off, thank goodness. He is self employed so no paternity pay here, have to save.

I think we have changed our minds about Maisie....it's not feeling special enough, especially as some of your baby names really are very lovely

OP posts:
Scorps · 30/11/2009 09:32

oh no sparkly God i was 7 days over with Millie and the asking really really did my nut in. Thankfully school finishes at my 39th week exactly so i won't get too much hassle!

OP posts:
sparklycheerymummy · 30/11/2009 09:37

My dd is 7.5 and i am hoping she is fine.... have got her little presents from baby and from mummy and dp for when its born! ALso made her a baby doll changing bag with 'real' nappies, wipes, bottles..... though i have seen her pretending to breast feed!!she has had me to herself for this long and for many years i was a single mum so big adjustments to be made!!!! Told her she can have 2 days off school when we come home but just hope i can cope with 2. am more worried about dd1 than dc2 when it finally arrives!! OUr names are Alice Elizabeth and Toby Alexander and we love them...... though a mum at school has chosen Alice since and is due the same time.... we have had a chat and neither of us care if they end up being 2 girls with same first names!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 30/11/2009 09:38

it's a nightmare people asking because you know they mean well but i just feel like crying today and telling them all to go away (but using non polite swear words beginning in f and off!!!!! ....ooooppppssss)

Mybox · 30/11/2009 09:45

Congratulations legscrossed - well done.

I've 2 wks to go & after lots of bh last week that had me thinking I was about to give birth now I have hardly any bh!

Have problems with my circulation in my leg - will see my doctor tomorrow.

GoldenSnitch · 30/11/2009 10:09

Someone at Center Parcs told me I looked like I was about to pop!. We were just on our way out of a restaurant and it was only after wards that I realised I should have said something about not having that dessert!

Too tired to be witty right now!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 30/11/2009 10:16

Im having awful problems due to baby resting on a nerve and sending the most excrutiating pains down my left leg.
Ive collapsed 3 times due to it and cant help but cry out when I get it. I know its not contractions or "baby coming" but yesterday my mum drove me mad saying everytime I had one of these pains that "I have to hold on another week because thats the week she's booked off work" ITS NOT THE FUCKING BABY COMING. grr and even if it was how the hell am I going to "hold on".
I know the comments are made in jest but the fact they are said every single time is getting to me now. Im being treated like a time bomb thats ticking away.

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 30/11/2009 10:29

Ferret I've been having that exact pain for about a month - it is so annoying as I never know when it's coming, eg the other day I was carrying two cups of tea and my leg 'went' so had to try to put them down on the floor carefully as I sort of collapsed. It is impossible to explain to DH, again he thinks I'm having contractions and gets all excited.

I find squinting my eyes and growling at people who say anything resembling 'oooh haven't had it yet/didn't expect to see you this week' works quite well. At least none of us will EVER say that to a pregnant woman again, nor will we ever say 'blimey, you're enormous' which I had from about 5 months.

Mybox · 30/11/2009 10:31

Ferret have this nerve problem as well. Mainly when coming downstairs so is dangerous if with dd5 who's 2. I've not slipped yet but it's a worry sometimes.

Milliemuffin · 30/11/2009 10:35

I'm also planning a home birth but have a huge hospital bag packed as that way even if I do transfer in (which is quite common and thats what happened with DS), DP will just have to grab the bag and not worry about whats in it.
It also makes life easier knowing everything is in one place (even for home birth so DP doesnt have to disappear upstairs looking for something) so whatever I need, stuff for labour (tens/food/lucozade), stuff for baby(clothes/nappies) is all in separate bags in one big bag. Means I dont have to send DP home with lists of stuff I want/need and no fear of him forgetting anyting. It's put my mind at ease already knowing everything is there and ready and I've even shown the MW where the bag is which is next to the birthing pool in our larder so I'm all set! I'll probably go 2wks overdue now but at least I can concentrate on xmas now.
What are the chances of a boy called Jackson being referred to as Jack? DP's sister is called Jack (Jackie) so I don't want another Jack but we do like Jackson, I'm just worried people will end up calling him Jack... what do you think?

Milliemuffin · 30/11/2009 10:39

Is anyone suffering with a nervous twitch of any kind? I've had it in my right eye on my top eyelashes for about a month and yesterday I had it at least a dozen times. Mum said to hold something cold on it which does help but ten minutes later it's back again. Doesnt hurt but is very annoying. Not sure if it's a pregnancy thing or a lack of sleep thing?

madmissy · 30/11/2009 10:43

oh what a weekend!
girls have had horrid cold and cough which i now have! well mostly cough now and i sound nothing like me

i have the consultant today to see whether they will agree to induce me early again im scared

ABF that sounds horrible

we're nearly there girls!!

BexJ78 · 30/11/2009 10:44

Hi Millie i have had them before; generally when I am tired.
in terms of the name, as someone whose maiden name was jackson, i would think he would more than likley get called jacko rather than anything else, partcicularly when he is a bit older. My DH calls me it and we have been married 3 years!! My brother is also known as jacko with all his friends....

AmazingBouncingFerret · 30/11/2009 10:48

Well im sorry others are having the same pain but im glad its not just me! I was getting worried because I have a rather rare problem with my spinal cord where it splits in two at the bottom and was worrying it might have something to do with that.
Thank you. I feel a bit better now!!

Millie I really like Jackson, but he will probably get called Jack as he gets older.
I havent had the twitchy thing whilst pregnant but I have had it in the past and know how annoying it can be.

sparklycheerymummy · 30/11/2009 11:08

i've been getting ringing in the ears..... is that linked to pregnancy..... my bp is ok and no stars or swelling so maybe its just me!!??

madmissy · 30/11/2009 11:20

sparkly i have that! but i have a tail end of cold so bunged up and still bit of a cough so putting down to that oh and headache lol

have you been full of snot at all?

madmissy · 30/11/2009 11:21

how cool is the name jackson!
i'm sticking to carter i think well today anyway!

Scorps · 30/11/2009 11:21

Millie - my ds1 surname is Jackson and I agree with the jacko comment. I have seen it spelt Jaxon too, maybe that will help people use the full name? You might hate alternative spellings though!

Whoever liked Carter - it's funny cos if this one was aboy we would have used Dexter or Mason! Mason probably.

OP posts:
madmissy · 30/11/2009 11:28

Scorps that was me lol my list is...

Carter
Dexter
Mason
Ashton

Had/has been Carter the whole pg! and now i'm wobbling
