Hester, it's great to hear you sounding so happy! I'd love to hear more about the cashmere knitting, saddo that I am. I have to say, all the garments I was given with both mine were age 3-6 months, so they had extensive wardrobes when they got to that age but I had to buy a load of newborn things in a hurry

hester · 26/06/2005 10:47

Hi tamum, great to hear from you! I am hoping to see my consultant this week, and have also arranged to see the Prof of Fetal Medicine at the hospital where I work, so am hoping their advice will further reassure me. But yes, I am feeling much happier. All the information I have got has helped me feel much calmer and more relaxed - and the advice I got from you and Blu was particularly great, thanks so much once again.

Feeling my little girl kicking away is also wonderfully cheering. She may have little bent feet but she can still pack a punch!

I have started knitting a little kimono jacket out of the Debbie Bliss baby knits book (have you seen it - it's great, if just for the gorgeous baby photos - pregnancy porn!). It will of course be very impractical, but for a 'special outfit' I reckon it'll be good because it just wraps round - no fiddly buttons or need to pull over head. Sadly it's a real struggle to get baby wools in good colours - even John Lewis has got very little that I like. In the end went for a teal blue with olive green edging. There's also little matching trousers, but I'll not knit them until she's born and I find out whether she'll be having her legs in plaster casts.

Sorry, that was probably just TOO boring! I've just been watching The L Word on DVD and there's a very funny scene when the pregnant character's girlfriends sit her down for an 'intervention' - halting the progress of a destructive behaviour - because she has become such a complete and utter baby bore. I said to dp, "I'm not like that, am I?" and she said kindly, "Well, not always..."

YOKEFLEET · 26/06/2005 21:27

Evening Ladies, Hester - I don't know of anyone called Ava, I think that sounds lovely!! I would love Lucy Beth for a girl and Thomas James for a boy but my sister called her daughter Eleanor Lucy, she has said she wouldn't mind if we used Lucy but I aren't sure, opinions please???
It's my birthday tomorrow (28) but in this heat I feel like a little old woman, I can tell that the photo's taken tomorrow aren't going to be very flattering!! lol
Hope you all have a good week!

Elf1981 · 26/06/2005 21:47

Yokefleet - not too bad as both not named the same first name. I am a little sensitive about naming my baby with a name of somebody I know. It's me being over sensitive. My aunt named her baby Ellie-Jade, my step sister named her daughter Hollie-Jade and it just got a lot of comments etc. I really liked Isabella but DH's niece (who we never see) is Isobel, but girl at work naming her baby Isobel too, so have changed my mind. BUT, you have to weigh up how much you'll regret it in years to come if you don't use the name you really wanted to make your final decision

tamum · 26/06/2005 22:59

Oh hester, I missed this, I'm sorry! The cardigan sounds so lovely. I am v. jealous of all the lovely baby knitting books that are around now. Even 10 (gulp) years ago when ds was born you could only really get standard matinee jacket type patterns. I made a couple of cool little fairisle cardigans, but they were pretty impractical. There's a Jaeger book with a baby on the cover wearing a gorgeous little top, it's here , but you have to scroll down to JB29. I always feel like knitting it even though I don't know any babies.

I hope you get some more reassurance this week, and I am sure you're not really boring dp

jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 23:01

Happy Birthday for tomorrow York!!!

SusiS · 27/06/2005 07:39

happy birthday yoke!!!!!

bonniej · 27/06/2005 10:40

Yorkefleet, I've done the same thing. My mum's name was Jean so am using that as Ruby's middle name, even though my sister called her first daughter Laura Jean. I wasn't sure whether it was the done thing or not, so I rang her to check with them all that it was okay first. None of the family minded and her daughter was thrilled that the new baby would share her middle name.

The sister of my ds (16) best friend was pregnant with her baby due last week. She'd been to the hospital for monitoring (standard procedure when overdue) and everything was fine. Her contractions started at 5am this morning so she went to hospital only to be told that there's no heartbeat She's only 19 I don't know her personally but feel so sad for her. It's made me hug my bump tighter today

Joseyjo · 27/06/2005 12:59

oh god how scarey - poor girl. at least i got to meet my ds before he died.

i was just happily laughing away at the knitting pattern discussions and that has knocked me for six.

i am back from holiday but not really in the mood to post now so i will go and update the stats stuff and post later,
hugs...

bonniej · 27/06/2005 13:16

she is very young and should have plenty of chances to try again - i was the grand age of 27 last year and i am already expecting no. 2, fingers toes and everything else crossed that this one is ok .

bonniej · 27/06/2005 13:29

I should have thought about other people's personal experiences before posting, and again I'm so sorryxxxx I'm sure everything will go alright for you this time, Joseyjo.

I could really kick myself sometimes.

as you said she is young and has plenty of years ahead of her.

Well done for doing the stats again, it's great to keep track

fastasleep · 27/06/2005 13:33

Happy birthday yoke! Been a bit busy with Theo's teething for much MNing...and I'm feeding my bead obsession online whenever I come on these days too... CPT poor you on that train ... bonnie it must be hard trying to think of anything else at the moment, with your bump there reminding you all the time! poor girl..

Hope you're doing ok Hester!! Remember to be extra annoying with the millions of questions when you see those consultants

Joseyjo · 27/06/2005 13:33

just realised that i am also incredibly stupid as I got my age wrong!!!!! i was 26 last year!!!

Blu · 27/06/2005 13:59

Hiya hester - I left a message on the 'old' thread - can't keep up with you speedy pg folk!
Glad to hear you feeling cheerier....as far as I remember the scary and v rare trisomies they raised with me would have also shown things like small growth...i thik the fact that you have been so thoroughly scanned and there is nothing else to show is a v good sign. AS I said on the other thread, they brought it up with us because they said that talipes IN CONJUNCTION WITH echogenic focii could be a soft marker for a v slight risk of other problems.

Anmyway, hope you are getting some good advice from your prof.

And I agree with Tamum - everyone gave us 3 month-clothing..so that he wouldn't grow out of it so fast!

motherinferior · 27/06/2005 15:53

I will confess that I didn't know you could get newborn stuff - pretty well all DD1's clothes were in fact handmedowns from her cousin - so she just flapped around inside 0-3month babygrows for a while. IME all the stuff you get given is for when they're bigger too.

She looked terribly sweet flapping

Jockey · 27/06/2005 17:11

Bonniej so sorry to hear that - it's incredibly sad. Am thinking how lucky I am at the moment & don't want to take anything for granted...

Yokefleet - many happy returns. I don't think there's anything wrong in using Lucy, particularly as that was used as a second name. My dh is also mad keen on Lucy and is determined to get his way. Haven't thought of any second names yet. I quite like Louise too, Sophie & Amy. My dd wants Annabel (something to do with her Baby Annabel methinks!).

Good list JoseyJo.

morningpaper · 27/06/2005 20:52

Well Lucy is a name that is, ahem, very close to my heart and I recently said to DP, "What does the name Lucy make you think of? Is it a sensible name?" and he said "Oh well, you know if you have a date with a Lucy then you are definitely going to get into her pants. Lucys are easy."

And of course I said but then again I did shag him the first day we met so I can't really argue.

Moomin · 27/06/2005 20:58

i was getting used to having my posts ignored but now i see i'm off the list as well!

morningpaper · 27/06/2005 21:20

Did anyone hear something?

Moomin · 27/06/2005 21:55

Oh, chuff off! [sulky-face but trying not to laugh emoticon]

marinda · 27/06/2005 22:18

Hester - got message I am here - although can't keep eyes open !!!!!! Glad to hear of your better news ! Hi to everyone else- espec those like me who are just tooooo tired ! Will post more when energy level permits!!!

Joseyjo · 28/06/2005 12:54

Moomin - i appologise profusely for ignoring you (although i can't actually find your post but that is probably blonde + pregnant = 0!!!)
Here is the list with the details i have for you, but i am not sure whether your bubba is girl/boy/surprise/secret. if you let me know then i will add it in. i am also missing hester's baby number (is it number 1?) and also Jai38's bubba's sex. There are a few other people that i have some details from the stats thread but i am nervous to add them as we have not heard from them for a while. i think i will wait until i get positive requests to be added so that i don't stick my foot in it!!!
