hello winkle - eeep - I forgot the T - how Freudian was that? It's staying! I think it's just all hormones right now and always feeling tired because really and truly I'm one of these tremendously gung-ho, stfu and get on with it type of women. Right now I'm just being a big baybeeee.

carrots Maybe she's one of those women who orgasmed her entire way through!

OK, horsey gals. There's an international showjumping competion this week/weekend here in town. As tonight's the first night, entry is free - there will be stalls where I can buy horsey stuff and I can look at horsey fings etc., etc. But, I'm going to fall asleep at bang on 9pm and it's a 20 mile drive home. Please to do what?

givecarrotsachance · 25/11/2009 14:19

ski if I'm honest, I'd like to be one of those wimmin too

Can't believe I'm fessing this but I am one of those wimmin what - um - enjoyed breastfeeding . And it's fair to say that the enjoyment of my breasts "in the right environment" has never decreased .

BSF, winkle it's true, it's not so bad is it. I didn't have a bad labour either thanks to me muvver - it's the support that often really makes a difference. ski honey, honestly, it'll all work fine and also by then your hormones will have settled all nicely so you will be able to just get on with it. No problems.

You're being a big bayybeee, you're making a big bayybeee (sure there's a song there).

Now look here, young skiier-me-lass. You've told lovely iggy off for being a bit of a poncy worry-wort and getting a stressy, worry-wort baybee. You're gonna have a baybee wot's too scared to come out of your tum tum and THEN you'll be sorry. Stop It.

(iggy I didn't mean I thought you were being a ponce - but so glad you are feeling more positive.)

wwooooooo pony's here! We still go to BESHland pony but try to keep all the baby talk on here (not always easy) in a bid not to upset BESHes facing hard times. Of course, we'd rather they wuz all over here.

Sorry to hear things not been great - but temp nanny sounds very helpful! I'm jealous and I don't even have kids yet

all the virtual booze and banned foods you want here - crack on!

givecarrotsachance · 25/11/2009 16:43

Hey there pony. How's the MS?

Been on AIBU just to be controversial but can't find anything to be controversial about. Just stated my opinion a few times .

Ponymum · 25/11/2009 17:50

Neigh! Neigh! OK, caught up now.

It's only 11 weeks and I really wish this pregnancy thing would hurry up and end. Unlike others, I do not enjoy this bit. But had first scan a week ago and saw heart beat!

Now, as for all the probs with you lot:
-Horse riding: no for me this time, but def will take it up again afterwards. I just can't risk the SPD thing.

-Skydiving: I used to skydive like a mad obsessed woman. Was even in a team. Lots of regular skydivers would jump when pregnant, and apparently it gives better stability in free fall. (I'll never jump again though.) I have also bungy jumped and imho that is way more dangerous.

-Baby not fit: ski I can be honest with you, I was also terrified of this last time too. I was actually relieved when they told me I had to have a horribly risky major operation so she came out through my tummy instead. Is that bad?

Ponymum · 25/11/2009 17:55

Oh, and by the way, while in the topic of baby not fit, my favourite ever moment of ante natal classes last time went like this:

Teacher: If you have to have a c-section the surgeon will make an incision approximately 10 to 15 cms across.
Someone else's husband: No, that can't be right. Surely that's not big enough!
Me (without thinking) (pointing to my lady parts): What, and you think this is?!

Twas priceless.

CUNextTuesday · 25/11/2009 19:23

I R Here, back from my conference. Knackered, wiped out.

ski my scan is also on 23rd December - we are scan twins!!

Hey pone good to have you with us

skihorse · 25/11/2009 19:28

cunty what if we have twin twins?

I've realised my diffedness is all down to cunty, she gave me such a stern telling off the other week when I was saying it'd never happen to me. My wee was afraid to say no.

I didn't realise you meant real dead people at your conference cunty.

I spent another mind-numbingly dull afternoon in a meeting led by Adolf. Adolf is ¬55, what were his parents thinking? Yes, he's German obviously. Imagine, it's 1955 and you have a baybee and you say "Gunther, what do you think of Adolf?", "oooh, that's nice Greta, nobody will make the link". Has anyone in the UK called their child Myra since 1963? Seriously, I know I'm a bit obsessed by the Adolf thing because I was moaning about it last week too, but c'mon, Adolf? Life before mn babynames I suppose...

skihorse · 25/11/2009 19:31

PS Ponymum roffle at birth class comment! I feel a lot better today actually, just more confident generally... I hope it lasts! I'm going to talk to my boss tomorrow to tell her I'm diffed and that for the next "while" I'll be going in at around 10 rather than 7... just so she knows!

TwinkleToes76 · 25/11/2009 20:19

No orgasms for me giving birth but having read about your skills in that area Ski, you might be in for a treat! Your Adolf story is very peculiar. I had a great aunt called...Fanny Hertz!! How awful is that? Quite appropriate for this thread though

Cunty - do you work with dead people? Me too! Bit grim actually

Ponymum · 25/11/2009 21:26

ski We went skiing in Austria a few years ago and the age 60-ish manager of the hotel was named Adolf. We thought exactly the same thing!

And ski, as I'm just catching up with everything here, does this mean you got diffed in the middle of the moving house stuff? Cos if so, I now realise the missing piece of the puzzle I forgot to tell you about my last updiffment. I got diffed just after I bought an eventer AND moved house! Makes sense now, doesn't it?

I'm in bed now. So happy as tonight I managed to brush my teeth without vomitting up my dinner! Makes such a nice change.

givecarrotsachance · 25/11/2009 22:23

poneeee oh tell me about the skydiving! YOB was in a team, too, back in 1893 when he was a student. I would really love to parachute jump but am a scardie wuss. Have done a bungee jump and hated it. I just don't do being scared and other than a fear of mushrooms which is clearly rational and therefore can be safely ignored, I have systematically worked through all the things I've been scared of and that's pretty much the last thing. I really need to sort it aaht. Why wouldn't you do it again?

Very funny re hole comment. Are you going to use the same hole this time or try to see if it fits through t'other? How many kids do you have already?

winkle I've got to ask, what do you do with dead people??? My understanding is that if cunty has dead people round at work she's done something wrong.

ski Very bizarre. You'd have thought that he'd have thought it through and gone for a name change . VV pleased to hear you sound much better today .

winkle you can stay here too and love the name Fanny Hertz.. I read an article in times magazine or similar about woman who had orgasm when she gave birth - sounds rare tho!

ski and cunty scan twins - like me and curly

rots I did not fink you fort i woz ponce

Ponymum · 26/11/2009 10:29

carrots Have just the one. I think the next will come out the same way according to what GP and midwife have said so far. Will find out more today as I have an appt with the obstetrician at 2:30 pm. Not looking forward to seeing her again. Last pregnancy she gave me a huge lecture about how I wasn't to have a second child! So I have blatantly disobeyed her, naughty me!

Skydiving... hmm I was crazy adrenaline junky in my ancient past. I did 150 jumps but I was, shall we say, "accident prone". Here's a history (sorry, very long - skip if not interested!):

Incident#1 (jump 12): When still learning how to stay stable in freefall I freaked out in a tumble and lost altitude awareness, so as instructed just opened my chute - while tumbling. Found myself hanging at 6,000 ft with what felt like 10 washing lines wrapped around me, pinning my arms to my sides, etc. Floated off miles away from the dropzone until I decided that I could just reach the cutaway so I cutaway and deployed the reserve. Miraculously the main chute cleared me or it could have been a horrible mess! Lucky I was so ignorant at the time or I would have shat myself at the predicament.
Incident#2 (jump 31): Had trouble exiting an unfamiliar aircraft and ended up sliding down the fuselage and becoming hooked on a strut underneath the plane by my leg strap. Hanging upside down underneath a plane at 12,000 ft - yep, that was me! The two skydivers in the plane made a human chain holding each other's legs to reach out down the plane and pull my leg so I could unhook myself. People still don't believe this really happened!
Incident#3 (jump 140): On a 4-way dive three of us somehow tracked away in the same direction and opened our chutes. While trying to avoid a collision with one I nearly flew straight into my friend's canopy. She screamed like buggery and pulled down, and I lifted my legs over my head and skimmed right over the top of her canopy. I could have grabbed hold of her pilot chute - that's how close we were. Still have chills thinking about it.
Incident#4 (jump 150): After a 6 month break went to a boogie a did a 2 way with my friend to get back in the groove. The next load was a 10 way star which we decided to watch from the ground before our next jump. On exit a good friend had her pin knocked and was dragged out the door, smashing her legs on the tail of the plane. Her chute was open but her legs were smashed to pieces. She managed to stay conscious until landing but it was ghastly. My friend and I cancelled our next jump and neither of us ever jumped again.

But hey! Don't let me put you off! It was a blast! Though if you are goinig to do just one, do AFF or an tandem. It's all about the freefall.

skihorse · 26/11/2009 10:43

Ponymum I did indeed get diffed the week I moved house and possibly the week I didn't have sex! We moved on the Tuesday and Wednesday - I was due to OV around then and sex went totally out of the window as we were knackered. I ate nothing except take-outs for 48 hours and chainsmoked myself a good'un. So there you go - worked for me!

twinkle That was early-diffed symptom nips I swear! Although I must admit my bits seem a lot more sensitive since I'm diffed which I suppose is more than possible with the increased blood supply et al.

I have almost no nausea today, is this because a) my body is adjusting or b) my pants will be full of blood by dinnertime? Ack, I'm only kidding - I feel in a lot better spirits today and I feel quite confident about the whole thing.

Told my parents last night by text. Got one back about 2 hours ago "We hope it goes well. Your mum's bought a new horse and we're going to London for an Indian wedding this weekend."

skihorse · 26/11/2009 10:44

As for the other side of the family, they're all thrilled, knitting and even jailbait's brother & sister (21 and 20) are really excited. His mum is absolutely thrilled that it wasn't his sister who made her a granny first!

CurlyCasper · 26/11/2009 10:51

talk about blood rushing - my nips have gone purple!

off to docs now to get the ante-natal ball rolling and have a winge about everything else going wrong...

skihorse · 26/11/2009 10:57

Show him your nips obv.

ponee

I was planning a tandom as I'll never jump out alone. YOB has about 450 jumps so is very experienced but just won't try to make me do it although I wish he would as I need the persuasion! I will, next year, after this is born.

No, I was very interested in all the things which happened. YOB has told me about a few near misses that he's had, but none as extreme as yours really! There was one time he deployed the reserve but he tells it like it was a breeze. He was an instructor at the time and he'd been teaching a bunch of students about cutting away, and then by coincidence had to do it that day, and he describes how he cooly breezed back in past them with their mouths dropped open, really amazed, but I'm sure that once he was out of their way he collapsed on a chair for a while!! He just didn't mention that . Mind you, he's totally fear-free. Once we took LC rock climbing when he was about 2 1/2. I was watching him jumping down from a huge rock with a really sloping landing surface and I just screamed, burst into tears, climbed up and screamed at him, "Give me the child, NOW!". To be fair, he's an absolute mountain goat and not at all a risk taker - he's exceptionally good at knowing his limits and his abilities - but it scared the bejezzuz out of me.

LC has picked it up brilliantly, from being a bit wimpy when we met YOB, to now being a thrill-seeker himself. I'm chuffed about that. He loves climbing trees, camping, and whizzing down hills on his bike.

I've got to ask, why would the MW tell you not to have another child??? Do you want another section or would want to try for a VBAC?

ski I felt much better yesterday and even my boobs deflated, so was a bit worried about it. Came back with a vengeance today though. Doesn't help that all my factory staff have terrible BO and bad breath

My boobs are still comedy - jailbait likes. But does not touch. I don't even want him looking too hard. I've not had the killer sense of smell yet but I'm sure it'll come.
