Hi Girls - so here we all are and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed and wheelbarrow loads of baby dust abounding)

Thought I would start a new thread (new name too) as babies being found out about now will just about be into March so we are no longer the absolute newbies which feels good!

So maybe we should collate all our due dates(any one had a dates scan yet??)

Keep it up!

supposed to exchange on house today - nuchal tomorrow ,dull outside, children pre- pubescent , feel sick ! Thats today for me folks!!!!

Tabs · 27/07/2005 11:23

Sounds like a great day ahead Barefootmama!

Well I've got a storming cold and feel like cr@p. Had it yesterday too but somehow forgot to mention it!

FS - stick us up a link to where you'll be staying so that we can all have a nose then!

spacecadet · 27/07/2005 11:47

hi everyone- i had a scan yesterday as had a bleed before the weekend, every thing still ok though, went away for the weekend, to celebrate out wedding anniversary which was yesterday, not v romantic though with 4 kids in tow!

babylily · 27/07/2005 13:18

Womba & tictac - back to the old bladder and scan stuff...
My MW said 500 ml half hour beforehand is enough to drink for the scan - the papers I got from hospital said 'comfortably full bladder' when I had early scan i barely registered any relief at seeing the wee beanie on the screen - all i could think of was the urgent relief required before i wet my knickers!
I'm nervous and excited about monday. even though I had the early scan it won't seem real until then.

BarefootMama · 27/07/2005 14:27

Tabs - poor you and in summer too - there should be some clause that says when pg in first trimester AND summer you are allowed not to get colds - and any other ailment that requires painkillers - not fair

Well we have exchanged on our sale - hoorah - this means going into rented with 4 kids till purchase completes but -hey! (tries hard to smile!)

Lulu68 - thinking of you tonight - mine is tomorrow morning- cannot remember if you need full bladder for nuchal or not? anyone know?

teuch · 27/07/2005 15:42

hullo all!

Just a couple of things on the scans... didn't drink anything since was feeling sick and was no problem, although at 13 weeks the uterus is rising above the pubic bone! I couldn't see the sex although maybe that was because there was nothing 'external' to see...the sonographer did an amazing thing where she started 'looking' at the top of the head the moved down so you could see shoulders and arms, then tubby tum, then the wee bandy legs (which is when we could clearly see the big feet!). THen we got a photie of a side view and baby was waving...wish I could show you it, its dead clear...

Tabs · 27/07/2005 15:54

teuch - have you not got a scanner? you could stick it up on member profiles then!

teuch · 27/07/2005 16:10

Tabs - how do I do that? when I go into my member profile it only lets me adjust my name, etc...

MrsDoolittle · 27/07/2005 16:26

Hi, has anyone told their boss yet.
Mine is lovely, but I'm afraid to tell her. I'm going to have to tell her this week because I shan't see her till the end of September because of holidays.

teuch · 27/07/2005 16:30

started new job on monday and told them then...is only temp post until xmas though so doesn't make any difference to them.

Remember, once you have told your employer you are entitled to time off for ante-natal appts and it is illegal to take any action which can be construed as discriminatory against you - such as not considering for a promotion or even sacking you ...still happens you know!!

Tabs · 27/07/2005 16:30

Teuch - I mean in the member profiles discussion board, here . I've never done it, but there are loads of threads about how to post a piccie there if you get stuck.

Barefootmama - I told my boss the second I found out because she's the nicest woman you could ever hope to meet. Did I mention that I'm self employed

MrsDoolittle · 27/07/2005 16:32

I'm very lucky because I know where I am that can't happen. My poor boss has just had 7 of us off with pregnancies in the last years. I went back to work last September.

flamesparrow · 27/07/2005 16:43

Please can someone tell my DD to sleep I don't care if she's up all evening, I'm just so tired.....

spacecadet · 27/07/2005 16:50

Hi All

Just back from my scan, just the one in there - thank goodness, not a particularly good result from Nuchal test - one in 329 chance , although my age doesn't help much (37). Just have to wait for the blood tests.

I didn't need a full bladder thank goodness. Anyway, GOOD LUCK for everyone who is going for scans.

Lulu

Morning All,
Just playing catch up, it has been a busy little thread. Great news for all of you with good scan results, I am on Monday so I hope I can post good news too.

As for the clause about not being able to have any "extra" ailments when PG...loving that, I have tonsolitis at the minute and not very funny

Telling boss - I told mine when I was 6 weeks. I work for British Gas so they are limited as to any negative behaviours. I figured that if I needed time off because things where not working out, then I would not want to embark and big explanatory conversation at that stage...Seemed to work out well because a couple of weeks later I had that horrid bleed!

flamesparrow · 28/07/2005 08:32

I got out of bed without eating anything first this morning, and I haven't had to clutch my bowl yet!!!

DD is finally sleeping later (although I'm still having to get up early cos my mum is taking her every morning - frustrating but good at the same time!!!)

flamesparrow · 28/07/2005 10:23

Forgot to say... saw hygenist in the week and spoke to her about attempting to clean teeth with morning sickness. She advised buying a child's toothbrush - where the head is smaller, there is less in your mouth for you to gag on.

IT WORKS!!

BarefootMama · 28/07/2005 13:56

Just got back from scan - the whole thing was less than 10 minutes including going to loo and a full talk through results! My downs risk was 1 in 23,000 which was lovely - higher than last time but then I am older still very pleased! Worn out now though - its emotionally exhausting.

Lulu i think the biochemistry always lowers the risk - i had mine done first so i got the full result today.

Good luck for everyone else!

spacecadet · 28/07/2005 14:25

i find it helps to have a snack such asa banana or dry biccies by my bed in case i wake in the night feeling nauseaus, it seems to help with the nauseaus feeling when i get up, i am taking phenargan tablets prescribed by my gp, but i only take them if neccassary, sadly without them i would prob be in hospital.

BarefootMama · 28/07/2005 14:26

Poor you space- i am starving every night in bed bud just too tired and sickly feeling to eat anything!

spacecadet · 28/07/2005 14:34

i was hospitilised with the last 3 pregs and lost over a stone, this time i take a tablet and its the difference between being able to function or lying in bed throwing up all day, they make you feel like a zombie though!
