Hi Girls - so here we all are and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed and wheelbarrow loads of baby dust abounding)

Thought I would start a new thread (new name too) as babies being found out about now will just about be into March so we are no longer the absolute newbies which feels good!

So maybe we should collate all our due dates(any one had a dates scan yet??)

Keep it up!

hello all, not been around for a while as been home laid up with SPD (the joys of pregnancy for the unfortunate 1 in 37 of us!).
Got my scan next monday at nearly 13 wks so really should be able to see quite a lot of detail. I'm having the nuchal and the blood tests but am one of those who tries not to think of the consequences of a less reassuring result.

Anyone showing yet? I kinda thought I would be with 2nd pregnancy (I'm sure my clothes were tight by this stage last time), but nothing yet. I want to go shopping and at the moment there's no point!

TicTac · 26/07/2005 14:17

Hi There babylily, looks like there are 3 of us with a scan on Monday! I will be 13 weeks too. This is my first pregnancy and I am certainly showing already. I am overweight anyway but my shape has changed quite a lot. I thought I must have put loads of weight on but when I jumped on the scales this morning I have not even put on a pound so I think it is the baby shifting my bits arount. My waist line as pushed out about 2 inches or so!!

Tabs · 26/07/2005 14:32

It's my b'day on Monday, so does that qualify me to join in the joint celebrations ?

Glad your m/w was lovely TicTac. Surprised to hear you're reconsidering the Downs testing now - you did sound quite set on your decision last week. You already know my view so no need for me to re-iterate .

Kando - pleased to hear that nuchal gave good result, and good luck with the move.

Babylily - SPD doesn't sound like much fun. Hope you're not suffering too much.

BarefootMama · 26/07/2005 14:35

I am not showing yet (no5) not even the 'night bump' that i do normally get first. I am 12+1 and feeling a little despondant - cannot remember when i do show though....

My bank manager just came round and she is 18 weeks on friday and TINY!!!

TicTac · 26/07/2005 14:35

Hi Tabs - Feel free to join the monday gang
I think I am still as set on not having the test, I guess I just need to give DH another chance to air his views. I mean, in a lot of areas they would not even offer the test to a 29 year old. I still think that I could not make any decision based on a "possibility" I would have to be 100% and even then I think I would have to meet my baby no matter what!
Hmm, I hope the midwives don't put any doubts in my mind about my childbirth choices?!?!

TicTac · 26/07/2005 14:37

Oh Barefootmama don't be despondant...as soon as you do start to show you will wish you weren't!

This will cheer you all up.....149 days to Christmas

babylily · 26/07/2005 14:40

hello tictac,
Weight is becoming my obsession at the moment. I have gained 3 lb so far(all on my boobs which was NOT what I needed!) I have been eating for about 20 - chocolate, cake, chips - you know, all the really healthy stuff, but I'm blaming it on the sickness (if I don't eat I feel sick).
On my 1st pg I'd put on 7lb by 8 wks (I felt sicker so ate more!). This time I fully intended to watch what I eat and not use pregnancy as an excuse to worship maltesers. Maybe after the scan.....!
Very exciting day on Monday - but I doubt I'll enjoy it thatnks to the misery of the full bladder...

TicTac · 26/07/2005 14:44

Oh yeah...the bladder!! I had a poor experience when I had my early scan!! I drank enough to keep me full but then they kept me waiting for ages and I was in agony. By the time the nurse came to get me I could hardly move. She said I could have a wee because they had to do a preg test....could I then go...could I buggery!!!! Was hideous! I would much rather have an internal scan straight away then go through all that I will give it another go on Monday I supose!

Frizbe · 26/07/2005 14:52

Crikey you lot have been chatty today! great news re the scans girls, lol at the big feet!
Good luck to all of you who have scans on monday.
Kando can you take our family with you! would love to live in NL! much better schooling and social orientation than GB....ho hum..
Are you ok being around the pox, although I guess you have no choice right?!

Tictac, glad MW visit went ok

SPD, ouch, babylilly you have my sympathies {{Hugs}}

Hi to eveyone else, just pootling along at the back of the que here, not even got a scan until mid aug, as not due until end of Feb! still feeling sick and still drinking ginger ale....

TicTac · 26/07/2005 15:25

Frizbe, your scan will come soon enough. Mine seemed like a lifetime away and we are now less then a week away! So how far gone are you now?

flamesparrow · 26/07/2005 16:29

TicTac - I think the main thing you need to think of with the blood tests is - would you actually stop the pregnancy if there was a high risk? For me, I know I would want my baby whatever and would rather enjoy the pregnancy as it is than worry about how I would cope with a downs baby iyswim - all the worrying and planning in the world won't make a bit of difference when you have a baby in your arms . I'm having the nuchal scan, but that is cos its the only way I can get an early scan!

I'm starting to show too, and I'm only 9 + 5!!! To start with I thought I was crazy and its just where I'm eating more, but it is definately more baby shaped than blubbery shaped! I'm stunned by it - I was so sick last time that I lost a stone by 16 weeks, and looked the best I had in years! I only changed shape at 20 weeks - days before my christmas party and I didn't fit in my dress on the night A few hysterical tears later... I wore a suit

womba1 · 26/07/2005 16:33

Afternoon All.. hope everyone is fighting fit today!
Tictoc.. am pleased your appointment went well with your mw. Could you, or anyone , please remind me how much water i have to drink on Monday, in readiness for my scan? I haven't received my letter or any information about it. I remember it from last time round though and i've never felt so uncomfortable. When i was eventually allowed to pee, it seemed to go on forever and there was another expectant Mum waiting outside.. i felt under so much pressure to hurry up, but just couldn't stop!

Kando.. great news about your scan and sincerely hope your move goes well.

Babylily.. poor you with SPD and my heart really goes out to you. How are you feeling about your scan on Monday? I'm really nervous and just know that i'm going to be in a real state Sunday evening. It's silly really as whatever will be, will be.. but you can't help worrying!

Tabs.. i think we should all have a virtual glass of bubbly Monday night, to celebrate your Birthday and the wonderful news that Tictac, Babylily and i are all expecting from our scans!
Or, we could all be a bit naughty and have a proper glass of the sparkley stuff?!
It won't be bad for the babies as champers is made from grapes, which are fruit... ok,ok.. i won't go there!!

flamesparrow · 26/07/2005 16:36

Drink enough water so that you feel like you're gonna burst (was that not the kind of advice you wanted?)

I remember my 20 week scan with DD... I was wanting to wet myself, and she wasn't in the right position so they told me to go outside and jump about!!! I was ready to thump the woman!!

flamesparrow · 26/07/2005 16:36

Agree with you about the grapes and fruit too

womba1 · 26/07/2005 16:44

Thanks Flamesparrow... i had an awful feeling you were going to say something like that!!!

Tabs · 26/07/2005 17:19

Womba - the guidelines are 1-2 pints of water about 1.5 hours before the scan. I'd opt for a pint an hour and a half before, and then another half pint half an hour later and another half pint another half hour after that if you can. Seemed to work ok for my 12 week scan - I needed to go to the loo, but wasn't about to explode with discomfort.

womba1 · 26/07/2005 17:45

Thanks Tabs... just want to get it over and done with now!

JuA · 26/07/2005 17:59

Monday is a very popular day for scans! mine is at 10am! I am quite excited and nervous - just want to see peanuts heart beating away. That is all I looked at last time - the sonographer was explaining stuff and all I wanted to do was watch the heartbeat. We are taking dd - I don't know what she will make of it.
I have declined the blood test for downs - it wouldn't change what we decide to do and I know I couldn't have an amnio with its risk of miscarriage so we are not bothering.

flamesparrow · 26/07/2005 18:10

I'll be laying by a pool on Monday....

womba1 · 26/07/2005 18:12

JuA... we'll be holding our bladders at the same time as my scans at 10.10am!
My Mum is going to look after our ds while we're at the hospital, as he wouldn't understand what was going on and plus, i have to see the consultant straight afterwards.

Frizbe · 26/07/2005 18:17

tictac I'm 9 weeks today! and my boobs n belly have grown a bit today boobs seem to have gone all veiny again....ho hum...

FS, grrrr at sitting by pool! although you definately deserve it!

TicTac · 26/07/2005 21:11

Jua, I think that makes 4 of us now on Monday although I am not until dinner time. What hospital are you at, I seem to remember your in Lancs same as me. I am at Bolton hospital..

FS - Cyprus is beautiful, you are going to have such a great time, and well deserved I might add!!

Frizbe, my boobs where sore from really early on but I get you about the vein thing...I can navigate teh Country with all these new veins! 9 weeks today...congrats! Only 4 more weeks before you enter your second trimester! I have never been preg before but people keep telling me I am looking good?!?! I think they tell lies..I will start my second trimester next week I think so here is wishing a "blooming" phase!

ixel · 27/07/2005 09:32

We had a great hol in cyprus a couple of years ago. Except dh decided to travel light, so didn't pack any clothes, just had the jumper and combats he went in, and had to sweat for a few hrs before we found the best clothes shops!!! Those first few hol snaps were the best!
Had my scan yesterday... all fine. With a new due date, obviously, as they never believe your own dates . Am now due 11th Feb, which makes me 11+4 today. I even got a photo, which I wasn't allowed at the hospital I used for ds, so that was a nice suprise.
Who is on here that lives in Whetstone? I saw it somewhere, but cant remember who! WE might be neighbours..!

flamesparrow · 27/07/2005 09:37

I'm gonna be good and not do a dates rant

Off to buy DH some summery stuff today cos he has no holiday clothes (might be forced to buy myself a skirt or two too "I don't know how much longer I'll fit in my skirts for, so I bought slightly bigger ones" )

TicTac · 27/07/2005 09:52

Great reason to get shopping Flamesparrow!!!
