Hi Girls - so here we all are and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed and wheelbarrow loads of baby dust abounding)

Thought I would start a new thread (new name too) as babies being found out about now will just about be into March so we are no longer the absolute newbies which feels good!

So maybe we should collate all our due dates(any one had a dates scan yet??)

Keep it up!

Hi all, sorry for little mermaid
Can't help with the aches and pains Tabs, but I can say I can't eat a full meal in one sitting now?! I seem to have to give it a rest for 15mins or so, before going back to it again!

womba1 · 17/07/2005 21:54

OH MY GOD!!! I bumped into an old friend today in town... her first words to me.... when's it due? I'm showing and i'm only 10 weeks and Dh is now convinced i'm having triplets!

Anyway, after being made to feel like a beached whale....i promptly came home and sought solace in a whole bag of maltesers, 2 cherry muffins and a bag of Dorito's!!
HMMMMMMMM... maybe it wasn't a baby bump my mate saw... just my calorie un-controlled wasitline!!

kando · 18/07/2005 08:16

Morning ladies! Just checking in before they cart my PC away today Had an appointment with my m/w on Friday for blood results (all fine) and actually heard baby's heartbeat, which was great. Took them a wee while which was worrying, but it's very low down and was thumping away loud and clear - phew! Got my nuchal on Wednesday so hopefully will see baby then - have told the dds who are both quite excited, keep asking me when the baby's going to come out of my tummy (dd1 also asking how it gets out ... not going down that road quite just yet, she's only 4.5!)

So ladies, not sure if I will get a chance to log on until I get my PC back sometime in late August. Should be back by September at the very latest, so until then, cheerie bye and hope all goes well for everyone!

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2005 09:06

Thank god for that Womba! I'm starting to think I'll be in maternity clothes by 14 weeks at this rate!!! Only 8 weeks, but a definate bump coming.

Spent the weekend reading Harry Potter ... and being sick

Feeling slightly better today.. only queasy, no sickness yet.

ixel · 18/07/2005 09:09

Womba1; I thought I was showing earlier this time, but mine truely is just the 2 stone I didn't lose after ds, and the copious amounts of ginger nuts I feel justified in having for brekkie . How refreshing to not have to worry how big my tummy looks though, now there's a valid reason!
8 days till my 12 wk scan now, and I'm counting every second. I've had a few good queasy moments to make me feel safer, but there's nothing like seeing it on screen!
I'm itching to start searching for double buggy etc etc, but its still way too early. I've bought a crib off a mumsnetter, and thats probably bad luck enough.
Dh is totally apathetic about names, whereas I'm panicking that we've only got till Feb to decide! Girls are ok, but if its a boy I need something short and unusual (so its like ds), and ideally it would begin with an L or an A. Not much to ask!!! Ideas appreciated please!

Did anyone hear Radio 4 this morning? Apparently it could 'only' be 5 years before we get really good maternity services on the NHS! Well, if i'd known that, I would've waited to have number 2!!!

ixel · 18/07/2005 09:11

how is the new Harry Potter? Worth getting? But bear in mind I cant remember the content of the last one, it was so long ago!!

Flamesparrow · 18/07/2005 09:21

Ixel - re-read the last one first. I had forgotten loads, and decided to re-read last week, and it made everything so much easier with the new one.

I loved it. Still not as much as Prisoner of Azkaban, but I have a strange Sirius obsession

BarefootMama · 18/07/2005 09:28

In our house we have to have a two hour battle over which ( of three big children) gets to read it first! Pain!

Feeling a little icky still and want sickly bit gone now.Have had enough - want to enjoy eating again and know what I want for tea without a half hour debate!

kando - best of luck for the next few weeks and nuchal - i could have done with you to compare notes - anyway see you late august!!!

YeahBut · 18/07/2005 10:19

I can't wait for the new Harry Potter but because we're overseas it will be at least Wednesday before I get my copy. Have spent the entire weekend trying to avoid news / papers telling me the plot!!!!

Womba, I look so pregnant it's not funny and I'm only 11 + 2 today. Am putting it down to a bit of fluid retention and the fact that after 2 previous pregnancies and 1 c-section I have no stomach muscles left to hold anything in!!!

Tooth (or lack thereof) is actually OK now. Feeling much better! Am having a bit of a rant about NHS services atm as all the dentists outside the UK that look at my mouth take this horrified sharp intake of breath on my first visit and then ask where on earth I've had such bad dentistry. Not very reassuring! In Australia the dentist actually stopped what he was doing to get all the other dentists in the practice to come in and have a look at my teeth!!!

Have any of you seen the report about standards in maternity units? I'm a bit disappointed that things don't seem to have changed a lot since I had dd1 in the UK 6 years ago. The unit was dirty and chronically understaffed - couldn't wait to get out. AND I was in one of London's flagship hospitals. They've known for years that maternity units and midwifery services are at crisis point so why don't they do anything about it? I get so angry that it takes women and babies dying before anyone sits up and takes notice.

Will go now and take my hormones with me!

YeahBut · 18/07/2005 10:20

Completely forgot why I came on in the first place!! Serious note - has anyone heard from LibbyandBensMummy lately? Do we know if she's OK and how things are at home?

teuch · 18/07/2005 11:21

just popping in briefly to say hello, its so exciting that ew are all getting to the scan stage now...I'm next monday!

We told my 5yo niece and the first thing she said was o DH - 'are you proud to get a baby?'!!! Then all the tricky questions like how did baby get in there, how will it get out, what does baby eat, what if baby cries...so sweet.

I am suffering with a mystery rash, mainly on legs. Driving me mad itching all night but i think it is just supersensitive skin...need to check with docs methinks!

TicTac · 18/07/2005 13:39

Hi all,
No new news from me, still feeling a bit sickly (although it does appear to be easing off a bit). I have bought a couple of longer tops now to hide my tummy that I am convinced is growing. I think I look pregnant now and I really feel it. MW appointment next week and scan 2 weeks today so am starting to get a bit apprehensive... I hope all is ok!

Looks liek Tesco is selling the Harry Potter book half price if any of you have not got your copies yet. I have been reading mine this weekend....half way through now!

Frizbe · 18/07/2005 15:05

Oh thanks for that tictac, I haven't picked up a copy yet!
Teuch, get that rash checked out asap! probably just heat, but better to be on the safe side...
Womba, I loved Doritos until 3 weeks, ago, now I can't stand the smell of them! bizzare isn't it!
Well just a note to say I feel ok today, queasy am, but all ok at the mo! so catch you ladies later.

BarefootMama · 18/07/2005 15:06

Dry heaved a dozen times and then lay on bathroom floor feeling like cr** this am with two year old saying ' Mama Burpin'

I could try to laugh but.....yeuch

Frizbe · 18/07/2005 15:22

Lol at your two year old barefootmama

TicTac · 18/07/2005 20:09

So how are you Dopler owners getting on...any heart beats??

Tabs · 18/07/2005 21:50

Evening all.

What's all this obsession with Harry Potter? Am I the only person (apart from my DH) who's never read one of the books or seen one of the films, and has no interest in doing so?!

TicTac - no more joy on the doppler for me. Had another 4 goes I think, but couldn't find it again - think he's moving up and there's too much flab to go through now! Am going to see where they find him at scan tomorrow and use that as a guide next time I try.

Yeahbut - haven't heard from LABM either, but I'd echo your hopes that she's okay.

JuA · 19/07/2005 07:57

How are you all?
I have been feeling very sick and am having to drag myself out of the house - but it's not fair on dd if I lie on the sofa all day! I felt really rough yesterday - I am sure part of it is to do with the fact that we lost our first baby around 10 weeks and I am really stressed. It's crazy I know because I feel much more pregnant than I did then but.....
The midwife was supposed to come last week but cancelled at the last minute - and I still haven't got a repeat appointment - they were meant to ring yesterday but no one did! but I have got a scan date.

flamesparrow · 19/07/2005 08:09

Rough weekend for sickness, but we have had slight improvement again yesterday and this morning - I even like the taste of coffee again!!

I've worked out that my sugar getting too low sets off queasiness, so I have bought dextrose sweets which seem to be helping.

First midwife appointment today - it makes it all seem much more real.

TicTac · 19/07/2005 09:25

Sick....so sick

Frizbe · 19/07/2005 09:44

Oh {{{Big Hugs}}} to all the sick people out there.....still recommend ginger ale...

TicTac · 19/07/2005 10:57

Thanks Frizbe...I really hate ginger ale though...any other suggestions???

flamesparrow · 19/07/2005 11:34

Nux Vom homeopathic...

I've just realised that mine is a drop in blood sugar causing sickness, so dextrose sweets are helping make it go away.

Stay hydrated.

That's about it for the time.... (I'm not a fan of ginger either).

TicTac · 19/07/2005 12:45

Thanks Flamesparrow...I am at work at the minute so just go a can of full fat coke and am sipping that....hopefully the sugar rush will make me feel better long enough!!

YeahBut · 19/07/2005 16:21

I'd echo flamesparrow - I've found that making sure I eat a little, but often means I get less nausea. I'm hoping that it will all start to fade soon! Still dog tired though!
