bettymum do you mean 3 months and not 3 weeks left to grow???

slightlycrumpled I hope your family soon start to feel better.

stinkypinky · 04/01/2010 16:37

slightlycrumpled - poor thing! Hope things improve very soon for all.

dani - glucose test is very common at this stage if you are a bit older, a bit overweight, or there has been glucose in urine. Need to starve for about 12 hours prior to test, drink the prep, then have test 1 hour later. may need repeat. blood test if I recall. To rule out gestational diabetes, which is treatable, and usually resolves after birth - varies from diet control to insulin injections, but worth it for safety of mum and baby.
I will be having test as old, fat, and ketones in urine, but was the same three years ago, and test was ok.

Hi all. Anyone else suffering from heartburn / indigestion? I had been fine until a week ago now it seems to be taking over!!! There really don't seem to be many positives to being pregnant

AdelaideJo · 04/01/2010 18:40

slightlycrumpled sorry to hear your Christmas was not very nice at all, I hope you can relax a bit more now.

linkey I have to have Rennies or Tums in the car, my work bag, the kitchen, make up bag. My heartburn is awful, as it was with DS but I am prepared for it this time around.

pillia78 · 04/01/2010 20:12

Bettymum am with you on the bump size! With my previous 2 I was tiny but this time I feel huge!!
Stinkypinky you made me laugh out loud, hope that was the intention?!!!
Well, I have now finished work and have survived my first day at home with my 2 boys!! I know it sounds silly but I am really worried about keeping them amused especially with a browing bump and sore hips! Bought a birth ball today which kept them amused for half an hour, I had forgotten how comy they were!

stinkypinky · 04/01/2010 21:04

Pillia

lineky heartburn is manageable at least - I am taking Manuka honey for mine (well, really taking it for hideous cough, but will keep taking it for heartburn...) There are few positives to being pregnant I agree... Baby at end of it, being able to demand or refuse sex with legitimate reason, erm...

I miss pate!

stinkypinky · 04/01/2010 21:09

Plus I lived with ten years of infertility, so every day is a positive.. piles and stress incontinence included. There are so many folk who would give pretty much anything to feel as rotten as we do

helenwombat thats what im dreading not being able to have breakfast as i go all funny if i dont eat in morning im not allowed anything from weds night until test is over apart from water. they have said to take in something to keep me occupied as it is a long test

stinkypinky they are doing the test as they found sugar in my urine well im abit overwieght i would say so that could be the reason my bmi is bout 30 i think. the one midwife wasnt concerened as it was 1st time having sugar in urine and they only do the test if its more then once but then the consultant was like no we need to do this test straight away.

stinkypinky · 05/01/2010 12:08

Sodding chest infection here! On antibiotics, and signed off for a week at least.

How long are you guys working until? I plan to work until 37 weeks, with section at 39 weeks. I finished earlier with dd and was bored beyond belief, plus she was late.

lineky · 05/01/2010 12:49

stinkypinky I am also planning to go till 37 weeks. Just hope I'm up to it! I'm a secondary school teacher and will be planning lessons carefully for max sitting down behind my desk

hoops997 · 05/01/2010 12:50

I'm going next week, I'll be bang on 29 weeks, I seem to be having all the horrible things in this trimester that I should have had in the first!!! So I'll be glad to go early, especially as I work in a Crematorium and seem to cry at all the funerals!!!!

Also I can spend some much needed time with my lovely DP before he goes off to Afgan in March, so will have plenty to do, I have to find myself a new flat and then buy everything!!!!!

When is everyone packing their hospital bag, have been thinking about it for a bit but is it a bit early or what??

Bettymum · 05/01/2010 14:50

I'm going to 37 weeks, DD was 10 days late but who knows when number 2 will turn up! I am hoping to get a couple of weeks of peace before he arrives .
I am feeling shattered at the moment, I have a cold and so does DD so she keeps waking in the night and then coming in to our bed and just coughing, coughing, coughing. I feel so sorry for her it outweighs the irritation of not being able to sleep. I would love to just give up work now. I'm keeping an eye out the window though as snow is forecast and I want to get out before it starts and I end up stuck in the car for 7 hours like DH was last time it snowed!

Neeko · 05/01/2010 15:39

I'm stopping at 35.5 weeks (6 weeks on Friday) as I'm looking forward to spending some time with DD beforehand. I'm a secondary teacher too and have so much to do before I stop.

DD starts nursery on Thursday so I'm looking forward to being involved in all that (not to mention the 2.5 hours to myself in the sfternoon before the baby comes! )

Wish I was stopping at the same time as you Hoops...

Neeko · 05/01/2010 15:41

Meant to say Hoops I've also been thinking about my bag but think it's because it'll feel closer once it's packed.

slightlycrumpled · 05/01/2010 16:28

I'm a SAHM as DS2's carer so I am either already on maternity leave or will never get any depending on which way I look at it!

hoops Whenever you pack your hospital bag you will unpack and re pack it several times ime. It's just so exciting seeing all the teeny vests that I just had to keep getting them out.

Bump here is massive, I lost half a stone when DH was poorly (not great when up the duff I know) but the tummy has kept on growing, and growing...!

In amongst the chaos that was December I did have my 20wk scan and all was well, we also discovered that it's another boy!

stinkypinky Hope the meds work quickly and that you are soon on the mend.

AdelaideJo · 05/01/2010 18:19

Not decided when i'm stopping yet..have a mammoth commute Essex -> London which is a bit knackering. I ended up stopping at 30 weeks with DS as i'm on my feet in my job all day and the varicose veins object!

Mind you, I only work 1 or 2 days per week on a really ad hoc basis so I shouldn't complain about anything! But my journey yesterday took 2.5 hours and began at 5.40am and took in overground, massive walk in central london, tube delays and then another massive walk at the end of the journey - I just wanted to cry!

BedtimeBear · 06/01/2010 12:28

Hi everyone,

I have popped in to this thread before but I've namechanged... (used to be MissMackenzie). Just popping back to wish everyone a happy new year, and I hope nobody is snowed in!!
I've booked a private scan this weekend as they couldn't tell the sex at the last one. I'm excited and a bit nervous at the same time! I'm finishing work at 35 weeks but wondering now if that's too early having seen when everyone else is finishing!
Slightlycrumpled, I hope things are improving for you.
xx

katgod · 06/01/2010 14:52

hello, been off over Christmas and while dealing with DD broken arm and knackered car, plaster off, new car bought, so back on internet! Planning to see how journey to work goes - have been doing pretty well so far getting seats on tube and train, but if that changes and people stop being kind may stop earlier than planned. stopped at 36 weeks for other 2, one was early, one was late so think 4 weeks is a good time to be off. But am really tired and have SPD so just may not make it that far.

Also get every week or so this terrible stitch like pain that is much worse than anything else I've experienced - went to MAU last time and they said just muscular/ligaments, and I can still feel baby moving so nothing to worry about. Have pain killers for it but makes me pretty miserable. Anyone else get it and have a different explanation?

pillia78 · 06/01/2010 19:59

I have finished work now as was doing a contract role and finished the project I was doing, have decided not to look for anything else now and spend time with DS1 and DS2, oh and complete sale/ purchase of house and move house!! It is such hard work though, I'm knackered already! With DS2 I stopped at 36 weeks and he was then overdue but to be honest I was ready to finish by that stage!

ReneRusso · 07/01/2010 09:27

Hi everyone and happy new year. I've got my follow up scan today, to check on baby's dodgy kidneys, so wish me luck. Just hope I get my scan and its not cancelled due to staff shortages snow etc.

Bettymum · 07/01/2010 09:40

Good luck Rene!!

stinkypinky · 07/01/2010 10:31

Thinking of you Rene x

ReneRusso · 07/01/2010 11:24

Phew that was quick. I'm back and everything was normal! Kidneys normal size. So happy . Have everyone has a great day.

stinkypinky · 07/01/2010 11:41

Yay! I must admit I shed a tear when I read your post after you found out there were concerns. Soo chuffed for you X
