oh memorylapse thats awful. i'm so sorry you're having a rough time. thinking of you & hope all is ok xx

mollybob · 26/11/2009 19:05

Oh memorylapse that is disgraceful. If a gynae ward cover up to 20 weeks then they need to be properly set up for it - gestational diabetes is pretty common so they really should know something about it. If you can face it then go back to A&E tonight.

Really really hoping for a good outcome for you xxx

memorylapse · 26/11/2009 19:28

Im not setting foot in that hospotal again..Im so upset I cant stop crying..they refered to my leaking as a gynae problem..Im 17 weeks pregnant fgs..Im so upset I feel like changing hospitals..Ive lost all faith in them..DH is still at work..It looks like if Im leaking they dont care basically..the hospital policy is under 20 weeks..its a gynae problem

Carikube · 26/11/2009 19:43

Memorylapse, thinking of you and hope that everything is ok

Yorky · 26/11/2009 19:53

memorylapse - that is disgraceful! I'm not surprised you're upset. Are you at home on your own with the DCs? It may be worth trying A+E tonight, surely getting some information would be better than worrying?

Sophie2008 - DS has had a temp all day and been really nice and quiet and cuddly and just wanting to watch fireman Sam so I'm thinking of keeping him off nursery tomorrow so shouldn't really bring him to tots instead - its a shame as it would be nice for DD to go without him but I think the little bit is still closed?

mollybob · 26/11/2009 19:55

is there another hospital you can go to that's not too far from home?

I understand the whole obs/gynae split is upsetting but the issue is how you were treated too. The same doctors will be doing gynae and obs at this time of night. I just wish there was a way of knowing what the leak is - it is impossible to tell amniotic fluid from other vaginal discharges without proper testing and such an easy thing to check. I have seen women gushing with clear discharge that has turned out to be excess CM.

when is DH home - hate to think of you on your own dealing with this

memorylapse · 26/11/2009 20:11

mollybob..I know the actual docs will be from the obs/gynae team..the issue for me was that the nurses didnt seem equipped to care for 4.5 month pregnant ladies..
Ive decided Im going to change hospitals..apart from anything when I was nursing I would never have spoken to a patient the way that nurse spoke to me...

mollybob · 26/11/2009 20:27

I absolutely agree with you - I know it's so upsetting to be relegated to gynae because of some stupid protocol but the worst thing is that she was horrible, unprofessional and bloody ignorant. Fine if the WRVS want to take care of pregnant patients if they actually know what they're doing (TIC but you know what I mean, hopefully)

I mean - have they never had a patient on the ward with diabetes??? Have a bloody mars bar. Ignorant witch - did you get her name although with all the distress I know how easy it can be to forget to complain/have other priorities.

How are you coping? x

Sophie2008 · 26/11/2009 20:31

Memorylapse - So sorry to hear the way you have been treated. Can't believe what they have been like with you. I really hope it is nothing serious and that you and LO are fine.

Yorky - I think the little area is open again, it was open a couple of weeks ago, unless it's been closed again. Not been for a while as DD and I have been ill.

We could always make it another time.

memorylapse · 26/11/2009 20:33

mollybob..yep I got her name..and when Im calmer will be lodging a complaint...Im definitely changing hospitals anyway because the other hospital I have in mind seem to be much better equipped and have a better rating on Dr Foster..I phoned their ante natal ward and the MW I spoke to said although they still refer to gynae under 20 weeks, with my history I would have been seen on labour ward..she also said they had a dedicated high risk pregnancy unit...
one thing I didnt realise was that the hospital Im currently under dont have a special care baby unit..and tbh Id rather be at one with a SCBU in view of my history

mollybob · 26/11/2009 20:44

how far away is other hospital? can you go tonight or first thing in the morning? are you ok? Is DH home yet?

memorylapse · 26/11/2009 20:51

the other hospital is about 40 mins away..DH is home now...going to ring my MW tomorrow and see what she says

mollybob · 26/11/2009 20:53

good luck xxx

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 26/11/2009 21:16

Oh Memorylapse, that's terrible Definitely complain, that's awful treatment. I hope you're able to get some decent treatment and advice tomorrow and that you're both fine.

Cith · 26/11/2009 21:54

memorylapse I am so sorry - you have had such a stressful time - what disgraceful behaviour from a health professional - regardless of whether a gynae or obs ward. I would definetly make a complaint so she can not continue to treat patients in that way. Good luck tomorrow. I hope it all works out well for you.x

Hollyoaks · 26/11/2009 22:06

ML so sorry that your having a rough time with your health and home, hope things start to improve and you get some good news tomorrow.

cupcake I was at the end of the month for dd as well so used to it, just at everyone reaching their milestones ahead of me. Especially hearing the heartbeat and feeling movements.

april mines on the 12th January, it will be a slightly late birthday present for me. Can't wait Hope you make it to nearer your edd this time.

molly fingers crossed your a May mam this time.

schipo · 26/11/2009 22:14

memorylapse · 27/11/2009 10:50

suey2 · 27/11/2009 11:07

oh ml! everything crossed for you. At least you don't have to go through to circus of A&E again.

Schipo i got your message and have sent you an email today.

I'm getting nervous about this amnio....

itshappenedagain · 27/11/2009 11:55

hi Ml...thank god that you are now going to be seen by people who care. hope things are ok and do keep us posted, keeping everything crossed. althought dont know why midwife didnt listen in as they can do as of 14 weeks! im a little less than you and heard Hb for the first time yesterday, although am still bleeding on and off, so have to go and see her next week and if its still happeneing then i have to go for yet another scan!
keeping my fingers crossed for CM ( not something i wish for often)

AnAngelWithin · 27/11/2009 12:59

thinking of you ML x

memorylapse · 27/11/2009 14:12

right well Im back..lovely lady doctor examined me with a speculum..not overly pleasent but ho hum..she said my cervix is tightly closed, not thinned or anything but theres lots of dischsrge..so theyve actually done a swab to check for thrush.
MW had a quick listen in, HB nice and strong and regular..baby obviously completely unperturbed..as per usual!

when I arrive the HCA was going to put me on the ctg because looking at my bump she thought I was about 28 weeks!

so embarrasingly..its looks like a heavy discharge..nice..thanks everyone for being so reassuring..the maternity day unit was lovely..complete contrast to the gynae ward.
theyve taken bloods too and will let me know if anything shows up.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 27/11/2009 14:32

Glad to hear everything's OK ML
