add another chocolate digestive to that last

NorkyButNice · 10/11/2009 12:35

Welcome all newbies!

I'm panicking as my nausea has completely disappeared. Last time at 6 weeks it came on in full force and didn't go till 7 months in, so this mild nausea stopping and starting is worrying me.

My SIL had a baby girl on Sunday - newborns are just so snuggly and lovely!

yesway · 10/11/2009 13:29

Congrats to your sil.

When I had my second I convinced myself I was going to miscarry as I had no symptoms at all after the first couple of weeks. I ended up in a real state and went to the early pregnancy unit (who seemed to be quite used to seeing mums as wound up and in retrospect utterly paranoid as me). Needless to say all was fine.

Am now on #4 and fell pretty normal. My pregnancy symptoms were so much more pronounced with #1. I think a lot of it was down to adapting my body to be able to grow a baby and having done that once it doesn't take as much effort next time. Also I think I've got used to it after 3 pregnancies in 4 years!

MumfieMagic · 10/11/2009 14:25

Moan away WWSW that's what we're here for. I hear you too Spirael, I am in constant panic after MC too but I think everyone will be for a while yet.

I too am dizzy, sleepless, hungry, not hungry, nauseous, THIRSTY and soooo freezing (anyone else get numb fingertips and uncontrollable shivers??). Just tucked away soup and 3 loaves of bread, I think I might make it through the night!!

FlowerBee · 10/11/2009 14:58

Hello ladies....been a little while since my last post sunday pm...reason being have been puking my guts up since then.

This is probably TMI but literally haven't been able to keep anything down (food, supplements, lucozade) and have been sick non-stop. Easing a little today, only sick every 2 hours or so.

Have rung my GP, she said will probably need to go on anti-emetic cyclizine (an anti-histamine also), be checked for dehydration (may need drip if bad enough), and possibly scanned earlier to check if i might have twins (hoho, more likely a useless stomach). I would be hysterical if i had the energy. Anyway seeing my GP 6pm.

Anyone been on antiemetics last time ?? - hopefully someone can make me feel less guilty.

Also how likely is this gonna go on for. May just lose the will to live if it lasts until 11-12 weeks!!

GibbonInARibbon · 10/11/2009 15:23

Hello all

Oh flower that sounds awful! and here I am feeling sorry fo myself and I am not nearly as poorly as you, you must feel dreadful. Someone on the thread may have been where you are and can put your mind at rest I'm sure. If not do a search on MN and I bet lots of threads where people have been in the same position

WWSW, yes I have been pondering how I can feel so sick but keep shoving food into my mouth? I keep thinking it will make me feel better but it doesn't really.

I am out tonight and much as it will be lovely to see my friends (not seen either of them in months) I am dreading it. I feel tired and sick and it's an hours drive there and back but it's been arranged for ages. Hope I can get through the meal without throwing up or falling asleep

If I have missed any newcomers I apologise and welcome you!

Champagneforlunch · 10/11/2009 17:00

The nausea this time doesn't seem as bad as the last times and no sore boobs, neither of which fill me with confidence but being positive this time. I really don't want to go the EPU if I can help it. Its terrible I'm feeling worried because I'm not being sick.

I finally told DH last night and he was caught a bit off guard don't think he had suspected it at all put was very happy. Though about telling my mum today but might leave it a few more days just to make sure.

Champagneforlunch · 10/11/2009 17:06

sorry but not put

grumpypumpkin · 10/11/2009 18:16

Hmmm, am now feeling a bit jealous of all you lot with your symptoms!!
I seem to be exactly the same as usual, with only a few little cramps to complain about!! And am a bit tearful.

So much so that I am going to do another test in the morning. I have had 3 positives but can't shake the feeling that I am making it up and its all in my head.

Have now told my parents (absolutely delighted!) and been to the GP, am booked in for my preebooking appointment with midwife next week.

I am going to have a private early scan at 8 weeks to try and get things in perspective, thinj it will really help to see a kidney bean!

Congrats all newbies, it really helps reading all your posts and the variety of symptoms, or lack of, and to see that there is no such thing as "normal" !!

WhatSheSaid · 10/11/2009 18:19

Flowerbee that nausea sounds awful. Someone from my antenatal group last time got ms so bad she was hospitalised for dehydration, I don't know if she had the anti-emetic drug or not but the whole thing sounds miserable. I don't know how long it lasted for - hope it's over soon for you.

Norky nausea till 7 months pg, how awful, hope it's better this time

Yesway I like that theory about the symptoms not being as strong second time round as your body has been through it before. I feel a bit sick and tired in the middle of the day but nothing major and I'm sure I felt much sicker with dd. Still only 5 wks though so early days. No other symptoms - don't feel very hungry at all, for anything though I did really fancy an ice lolly yesterday - last time my cravings were for fruit and ice so maybe it will be the same this time.

Hope everyone's hanging in there, especially those with really strong symptoms.

ApuskiDusky · 10/11/2009 18:34

Sorry to hear people are feeling so rough, especially flowerbee, that sounds extreme. I'm also feeling really rough, and am drip feeding myself coke, wine gums and biscuits to limit the nausea, then panicking that I might be making it worse with short sugar hits.

Well, I told my boss today. This was always going to be difficult, she is really supportive, but 2 out of 3 people who report to me have just gone on maternity leave for up to a year so I am creating a difficult situation to be dealt with. I have no idea what we are going to do.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 10/11/2009 18:47

hello all

I'm such a pig today, but as long as I keep something in my tummy and no horrible taste in my mouth then I'm ok!

flower oh that sounds so awful. A friend of mine had the anti emetics with 2 of her pregnancies - they were twin pregnancies tho, sorry.... My best friend had it bad and got signed off for 3 weeks! Don't remember her taking any drugs tho. Seriously, being sick that much is going to do the baby much more harm than having the drugs in your system. Hope you don't need the drip. Oh and the silver lining is that you get an early scan! Now what are the odds on there being twinnies in there!

apuski what a nightmare. Not much you can do though, don't worry too much about it

yesway i wish that were true! I'm worse this time around than with dd! Just hoping it doesn't go on too long, I had mild nausea with dd until 11 weeks - norky 7 months sounds like hell! How did you function?!

Hoping to get dh to cook tonight...it's something simple, just sausage & mash and I KNOW he can make that!!

Oh me & dd had a lovely afternoon out together today, I had to pick her up a couple of times and really regretting it now, have a very sharp pulling pain in my lower right Maybe a nice bath would help?

Irishfairy · 10/11/2009 18:54

Hi all

flower sorry to hear about how sick you've been how did it go with the GP?

Also hope everyone else with the nausea is feeling better...

And there I was wishing for nausea! I am the same mumfiemagic and spirael I've been getting myself worked up because I'm not really feeling sick at all and last night freaked out because the soreness in my boobs seemed to have gone. But it's back today with a vengeance! This is my first pregnancy so really don't have anything to base it on and everytime a new symptom appears I run to MN and Google to make sure it is a good sign, which it always turns out to be so must try and relax a bit more!

My symptoms now are tiredness, sore boobs, hunger, heightened sense of smell, some mild cramps every now and then, metallic taste sometimes, creamy cm (sorry if tmi but if you can't talk about it on MN where can you!) and today a headache. So even though I haven't had any ms still a good few strong symptoms so will try to be less of a panicker (not a real word I know!) and more positive

Oh and also another symptom - bad moodiness and no patience at all!

How's everyone else feeling this evening?

keevamum · 10/11/2009 18:59

Spirael and Mumfie I am the same as you. I won't relax and start enjoying this pregnancy until I get to at least 10 weeks. I have m/c twice before so am not taking anything for granted. Also I have not had many symptoms this time which is also making me worried...but hopefully it is just because it is still early days. Obviously I don't think I'd like to be constantly throwing up either and sympathise with anyone in that boat.

Emster30 · 10/11/2009 19:02

Hello all! I have been feeling generally a bit under the weather and crampy, and I've been feeling nauseous for the last couple of weeks anyway, but nothing too bad for now. Bad luck to those who are really suffering.

I called the doctor earlier and made an appointment with the nurse for next Thursday. The receptionist was lovely and congratulated me (once she'd ascertained that I wanted to book in for maternity care rather than an abortion!). It was lovely to tell someone out loud!

mousemole · 10/11/2009 19:06

hello can I jump on too ? . Number 3 is due mid July. Feeling really tired and sick, sickness mostly in the evening. YUK !
Odd pains down there which strsss me out as paranoid about mc'ing.
I am so happy to be on this thread. I was on the TTC buses for far too long, my season ticket almost ran out !

WinterMadness · 10/11/2009 20:00

Evenng all!

I'm the same as you whatshesaid, seemed to sail through the last time with nothing but exhaustion and a bad back but getting really bad waves of nausea this time Common thread seems to be cleaning teeth, how I wasn't sick this morning I'll never know!

No growing boobs though not painful either so maybe that's a good thing. They've never recovered from bfeeding so I'm looking forward to them growing in time!

Sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly flowerbee hope it passes soon. Wonder if that scan will show a surprise pair of twins in there?

Hello to all newbies too

WinterMadness · 10/11/2009 21:36

Sorry it was WWSW who feels worse this time than last not whatshesaid! Maybe I also have early onset of babybrain

WickedWitchSouthWest · 10/11/2009 22:50

hurrah, dh cooked! I've had my feet up all evening now and the cramping in my stomach is not half as bad. It nearly had me in tears earlier I was so worried. He's got me some barley water and plain digestives too so I can just keep shovelling them in Now all I need is a massage, a facial and a day lounging about doing nothing...not likely is it?

Firerise · 11/11/2009 07:26

Flower hope you feel better soon!

I am in need of some advice or reassurance please! (the neurosis begins )

I very suddenly got really painful left shoulder ache last night for no reason at all and it kept spreading down my arm. I was so bad it woke me up several times and the 3rd time was accompanied by a really sore pressure at the bottom of my ribcage.

I am sure I have read that shoulder pain can sometimes be a symptom of ectopic pregnancy and I am now freaking out.

It could be something else totally unrelated couldn't it?

Sorry, I am probably being stupid but any one experienced similar before?

violetbubbles · 11/11/2009 08:23

firerise - sorry, I can't offer you any advice but hopefully someone on this thread will be able to offer some reassurance or provide a link to reliable information on the web. Keep us posted!

violetbubbles · 11/11/2009 08:25

So, I visited my GP a few days ago and although he was perfectly pleasant he didn't tell me much more than I've learned by reading posts on these forums. He has referred me for an antenatal appointment (exciting!), however, when i asked about scans he said, very casually, that in an ideal world scans happen at 12 weeks, but in reality, 16 or 20 week scans are not uncommon - it depends how busy they are at the clinic.

Well, you can imagine my despair! I'm keen to have a scan at 12 weeks (if all goes well in the early stages of my pregnancy), so I did some Googling and apparently if I pay about £90 I can have a scan done privately. Does anyone have any experience of private scans? I'd be keen to hear your thoughts as I'm seriously considering booking in for one.

Thanks!

[flowerbee I hope your situation improves soon! ]

MumfieMagic · 11/11/2009 08:41

Violetbubbles i've got my GP appointment this afternoon, i'll ask the same question and see what the response is.

GibbonInARibbon · 11/11/2009 08:47

Morning all,

firerise, I would ring NHS direct and chat to them and they will advise if you need to go to doc/A&E. I went in with DD as I had bad pain and was given an early scan to check for ectopic, did put my mind at rest

violet - wow having to wait till 16-20 weeks is tough! I am surprised as I thought it was standard practice to get 2 scans? one at 12 weeks and one at 20weeks? We are considering a private scan this time, mainly because my nature means I worry still not decided as we will get the 12week scan here and the private one we are thinking about is around the same time...so not sure yet.

Apuski, glad you have the weight of telling your boss off your shoulders, try not to worry about work too much

Hope everyone has a good day.
