Morning all.

Sorry about those of you feeling ill. I'll join you all though as I've got a heady sinus cold too and its horrible! I didn't sleep well either as it seems I can only sleep for 1/2 an hour before my hips are killing me and then I have to try and move which in itself bloody uncomfortable! I'm totally knackered now so might head off to bed soon.

Sorry your ds is not well Ninja. I hope he feels better soon and I'm sure you getting him a dvd to watch later will make him feel better.

Kyte can't believe your dh thought it would be ok to still eat sprayed meat . I also hope he does something nice for your birthday too.

Sorry I can't remember everyone elses posts

ErikaMaye · 14/10/2009 11:19

I hope everyone having pains / BHs / feeling generally crappy feels better really soon. Really not very helpful on top of everything else, is it?

Well, we could, if DH had not broken the curtain pole taking it down to paint in here! Hence no curtains. He managed to put it back up using gaffa tape but it fell on his head a couple of days ago, still trying to decide what blinds to buy so its bear until we figure it out! Nothing to hand curtains on as its upv double glazed bay. Its a rip to pay so much for cleaning windows. My mother used to pay £2.50 a month and he cleaned 3 times as many windows!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 14/10/2009 11:51

Oh cuddling newborns, its lovely isn't it? if you are feeling hormonal, you will cry

ErikaMaye · 14/10/2009 12:16

I'm currently cuddling my hamster, is not quite the same!!! But still very cute.

Trikken · 14/10/2009 12:47

just had lunch after picking up ds from playgroup, but now i feel i could quite happily just sit here and do nothing all day. i dont seem to have the inclination to do anything. I was naughty and did do cleaning yesterday on my child-free day, but actually it was more out of boredom waiting for dh to get home at half ten. this is like the opposite of nesting.

There was a gorgeous newborn being cuddled by everyone at ds's playgroup today, couldnt stop smiling at the baby.

hobnob57 · 14/10/2009 13:33

I'm so sorry for you guys that aren't sleeping - I don't know how you cope. My miracle pregnancy continues with (usually) 8-10 hours' sleep and the SPD disappearing again.

To compensate I don't think I'll be anywhere near birth at 40 weeks, LO's head is still swimming around freely in there and whilst you are cuddling your cosy bundles I'll be sleepless with BHs and going spare with hormones .

Lots of nasty bugs around, ninja take care of yourself as well as DS. You just don't need that kind of setback at this stage.

In a chicken-pox-induced fit or boredom this morning, DD and I made some potato print Christmas cards. They're not very good because it's tesco metallic paint on coloured card and it didn't take very well but They Will Do. It's going to be a meagre Christmas this year so I'm sure everyone will appreciate the homemade touch. I might stretch to some table confetti around the edges if this illness carries on beyond the weekend. The poor mite has pox on her tongue, and I can only get her to eat yoghurt. Her normally pot belly is flat .

kyte I know exactly where you're coming from. Last pg I refused to clean the shower due for chemical reasons but this time I've relented because what grew in the shower after not being cleaned for weeks and weeks was probably more dangerous! My birthday is in late November and is always overshadowed by Christmas do's, school reports deadlines, lack of cash flow and general run-down-ness (and of course, birth of babies - or in DD's case, lack of birth of baby). It's even an effort for me to summon up enthusiasm for it. But DH's is in mid December so he has it worse. I suppose that's why we don't make much of our birthdays because we both know how inconvenient they are!

helips I'm so in awe of you having the strength to ask for an HVBAC. All fingers and toes crossed for you and your plans. I just live that bit too far away from hospital to be comfortable with it.

Comma2 · 14/10/2009 14:05

Kyte, my dh is rubbish at birthdays too. Xmas he just goes into a foul sulk until I'm in tears because I want it nice for dd, then he feels better and accepts the presents I got for him. For my last birthday, 20 weeks pregnant or so, I got gardening tools we needed...yey. Nothing like a spade to make a pregnant woman smile. Oh well.
He'd also happily spray our dinner/room/nb with aerosols. I had to make a row to stop him painting everythign and sundry so the place can detoxify a bit before baby comes.

Now he sais he's getting sick...I told 1000x him to get vaccinated against the flu, so it had better not be that... I am sooo sick of being sick....

Laugs · 14/10/2009 14:58

Humpf. I was supposed to have a roofer round at 1.30 to give a quote for replacing our roof - still no sign of him and now we've missed going to Story Time at the library. It's not a great sign when you're late to give a quote is it?

Kyte You have my sympathy. Last week, DH decided to recreate this art project he had seen which was a bowl made of melted plastic soldiers. He was happily attempting to melt the soldiers on our hob, reassuring me there would be no fumes as the plastic would only melt, not burn, when I Googled it and all the advice was not to melt plastic at home because some plastics give off dangerous toxic fumes. Another crazy idea bites the dust.

I had a lovely morning meeting Wizzy for coffee. How are you doing now, Wizzy? Did you manage to bring on any more contractions pacing the streets of Newcastle?

southernbelle77 · 14/10/2009 16:37

Is anyone else really not enjoying being pregnant anymore?

I want this baby more than anything but I am hating being pregnant. I am either in agony or getting over stressed about nothing. Just had a row with dd about her reading and burst into tears. The poor girl is only 5 and it really isn't her fault. I'm just so so sick of it all

Trikken · 14/10/2009 17:01

im not enjoying being pregnant any more either. again this baby is really wanted, thats probably why Im not enjoying the pregnancy cos im desperate to meet her. Am paranoid about every little twinge now, and hate it when dh is at work in case anything kicks off.

Fruitpastels · 14/10/2009 17:03

Hello ladies, I've not been on for a few days. Partly because I can't find the energy to type or even think for that matter! I've not been able to catch up on all the posts, but I hope everyone is doing ok.

I'm feeling very different inside my pregnant body this week. Everything hurts and I can't sit or sleep in a comfortable position. Sleep is a thing of the past, and I'm fed up with going for a wee every half hr! My body feels like it's really gearing up for the big day now. I'm sure a lot of us feel like this . I have found this pg so much more demanding with having a child already. I did manage to have a sleep today after a nice warm bath, DS was happy to watch a DVD in his bedroom and I had a kip in the next room. It felt like bliss!

Hi all,

Managed to see my midwife afterall this morning and she said my Chiropractor is talking nonsense, the baby is definately head down and not breech, yay! So my home birth looks still to be in sight.

Hobnob I've gone with Independent midwifes who are very experienced with hvbacs, I've deliberately not seen a consultant so as not to be talked out of it! I used them when I was pregnant with ds because I planned a homebirth but obviously that was not meant to be, although I did manage 28 hours at home and because I almost got to fully dilated they see no reason why this labour should not be straightforward. Also, I only live 5 mins away from hospital should I need to go in so might as well see how I get on at home!

kyte hope your dh see's the error of his ways and spoils you rotten on your birthday, you deserve it!

Ninja and hobnob hope your dc's feel better soon, so horrible when they are poorly.

southernbelle hugs to you, it's not easy being pregnant, hormonal and dealing with other dc. Give your dd a hug and have some chocolate to feel better.

Took ds to nursery today and for the first time he didn't cry when I left him, result! Also, when I picked him up the staff told me that they had sat the children in a circle and asked them what there favourite things were and ds said 'mummy', so cute! They also asked him his favourite colour which he replied as pink, ha ha, can't wait to tell daddy that one

LissyGlitter · 14/10/2009 17:31

been to see the midwife today and she says something is engaged, she isn't sure if it is a bum or a head, but she doesn't think she will see me again until after the birth!

I also saw the GP, who said I have trapped a nerve and prescribed me some strong painkillers. So hopefully I will be back being able to walk again without feeling like I am breaking in two.

ALSO, the DWP were on the phone, they have mysteriously found the documents they were insisting I hadn't sent, and the "decision making" they said would take a week took half a day. I'm thinking it a strange coincidence that they have just received a letter off my MP... Anyway, a cheque for just over £900 will be waiting for us at the jobcentre tomorrow and we can finally apply for housing and council tax benefit. Feels like a load off my mind. We will only get just over £100 a week, but it is something, and of course the rent and council tax will be paid. Plus DP is still putting the hours in jobsearching, so he should be back at work soon.

hobnob57 · 14/10/2009 17:33

totally off-topic, but wondering if any of you have experience with electricians since kyte mentioned it?

We received a copy of the plans for the extension with annotations from the structural engineer for the building warrant to sign off. I played around a bit with scale models of our sofas and wondered if it would be worth having the TV socket in 2 places so we had a choice about how to arrange the room. So DH popped a note to the building people and they said it would be no problem but would cost £123 .

Seems a bit excessive to me, but then I know nothing of these things...

southernbelle I feel so sorry for you in all that fed-up pain and discomfort. I really hope that things hurry along for you. Nipple twiddling? Curry? Pineapple? raspberry leaf? ball bouncing? sex (ooch, but perhaps worth it)? Part of the reason I don't feel remotely ready for this baby is that things have gone so well for me this time and are still relatively comfortable that I haven't got to that fed up stage yet. But believe me, I did last time (and got an extra 2 weeks of it into the bargain).

hobnob57 · 14/10/2009 17:35

lissy great news all round.

Laugs · 14/10/2009 17:38

helips that is so lovely that he said "mummy". Did that make you cry? Glad he's getting used to going too

hobnob your poor DD only being able to eat yogurt! Maybe you could try other liquidy foods that might slip down easily - milky porridge or pureed food? Calamine lotion is also supposed to be good for chicken pox - though not on the tongue obviously... Also your potato print cards sound very cool. Christmas here is going to be a low key affair, I can tell. I know I should be getting stuff organised while I have the time, but just can't motivate myself.

That said, I have spent the whole afternoon cleaning and tidying the flat. I'm not sure if that counts as nesting because it really was becoming a bit of a tip! Probably more like screwing my head on. BUT I am just about to go and clean the kitchen and bathroom floors on my hands and knees because I have a really strong craving to do so... Odd.

kyte I have been in all afternoon and the roofer never came . I guess he must have forgotten. I'm not sure whether to ring him and ask him to come again or just leave it and try someone else. I normally like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but is that just really naive?

Laugs · 14/10/2009 17:41

X-posted with loads of messages there. I must be slow.

Great news Lissy!

Comma2 · 14/10/2009 17:49

Just went for exam, cervix still thick, finger-tip dilated, but doctor said I'd have a good chance of not going any early. Plus, he's bloody on vacation on my due date, so will be in the hands of strangers again for delivery. Could hardly keep myself from crying. Also, they have canceled my scan next week and pushed it a week back bc tech isn't there...then had dd scream in car for the hour-long drive back and now am really fed up. Nothing but cleaning the house to look forward to. If dd hadn't just started her terrible twos we could go for hot choclate and donuts, but I can't handle any more of her screaming fits in public today.

raggie · 14/10/2009 18:34

Oh Comma2, you poor thing, sounds like you are just about at the end of your tether

lissy glad to hear your good news. Fingers crossed it's head, not a bum!

Big lovely blankets round everyone who's unwell and a hot water bot and a cup of home-made soup. That's what the raggie orders! I am also ill, been sneezing dramatically all day and my head feels all spacey, meh. I had a cuddle from one of our school rabbits, but it's not the same as a newborn (eh erika?) or a DH. I miss him!

helips · 14/10/2009 18:37

lissy what painkillers did your gp prescribe? My back is agony and would love to take something stronger than Paracetamol...

Laugs · 14/10/2009 20:04

Oh, I've just realised it's Wednesday and we're due a baby. Has no-one obliged? DH is out, DD in bed and I am settling down with a pack of quadruple chocolate cookies and the Channel 4 Hotel Inspector rip off, so I'm afraid I am far too busy

I wonder how Isaac and Lukas are getting on?

helips did the chiropractor not do any good? I think you can take cocodamol. Someone posted it on here and it's also been in the news (I think)

raggie When do you get to see DH again? It must be really hard for you. Not long til the move now.

Trikken · 14/10/2009 20:12

not me im afraid laugs, tho i wish she would come out, im so uncomfortable right now.
