Skorpion those xmas pressies sound lovely. On the cleaning front, it has never before been known for me to open the cupboard under the sink, let alone use the products in it so I have to put it all down to hormonal madness. If I still have this manic energy when my house is finished, I may be able to jog over to yours!!!

scarlotti · 19/10/2009 11:44

I've only bothered to pack towels as I'm hoping to use the pool. Last time I didn't bother and it didn't seem to be a problem.

Primark nightie here too, button front and just the next size up for the grand old price of £5

great news on your GTT wook

longwayaway · 19/10/2009 12:20

oo you ladies with your Primarks! Ours is supposed to open any week now... not sure I'll be in any condition to brave the crowds by the time it does open, though.

Finally felt cold enough this morning that I wanted a proper coat. Of course mine doesn't close but I thought I'd just wear it unbuttoned over a sweater. Combined with my ill-fitting maternity trousers and my only pair of comfy shoes I realized I look like a bag lady! I think I'll start working from home next week... really no reason to leave the house anymore.

Wish I could get another scan but I guess there's no need for one... I think my MW would schedule one if I made up some excuse but I think I'll just wait and see. Maybe she'll come up with an excuse for me.

wook congrats on the GTT results - between your mad cleaning binges and the crazy dreams, you're surely getting close!!

hobnob57 · 19/10/2009 13:19

long I had a scan for placenta praevia last week and it's really hard to see much clearly this time (the sonographer's elbow in the way didn't help either). I have pics but I don't look at them.

Fubble enjoy the rest . You lasted a long time at work! I just don't know how koumak is doing it...

turtle I was thinking of you the other day and wondering how you were getting on.

Been given the all-clear by the optician today. Osteo this afternoon and dentist tomorrow, then I should be ready for anything! Scarlotti do share your physio's SPD/labour nuggets.

I think I'm undergoing some big hormonal change just now. My bouncy hair has gone flat and my scalp is itchy - it was like this before I was pg and I was really enjoying not having to wash it every day and it still looking pretty decent

hobnob I'd just like them to double check the sex We've become so attached to this girl we think we're having, it would be a real shock if she turned out to be a boy. So if I got a chance to go in for another scan, I'd take it. Hope your placenta is behaving!

Just adding myself. I can't keep up with you ladies any more! I'm enjoying my maternity leave and have almost got the nursery and baby shopping completely done now. Just a couple more things and I'll be all sorted. On the other hand I'm not incredibly sick of being pregnant. Everything hurts, I've got permandent reflux and I'm always tired. Ah well....
Sorry this is all about me, I just haven't managed to read through everything yet but will come back and post properly soon.

Oh, it's getting close! Had huge emotional, uhm, emotion? about last days with DD as only baby...will take her to the zoo after nap and spoil rotten, as really very lovely child. Aaaaah, have to cry...

Nothing else here, envy everybody with a body capable of getting labour started and giving brain hope in manner of on-off contractions.

Had dream that water broke and everything went wrong, DH couldn't find car keys, didn't know what to do with DD, then left without me, then baby was in trouble. Not like horrid rodent-dream though, so not to complain.

helips · 19/10/2009 14:07

Can't remember who it was making Christmas cards and potatoe printing but I fancy giving that a go tomorrow with ds. Never done it before though and was just wondering do you score a pattern into the potatoe or sculpt a shape with it?

raggie · 19/10/2009 14:31

longwayaway I know what you mean! I am havingan extra scan tomorrow and I want them to double check if poss that it's a girl too. We talk about/to her all the time - if she turns out to be a boy, it will be SO weird!

helips when I've done potato printing at school found it works best to cut potato inb half then carve a shape out of the 'face' of it pot, preferably a clear bold one e.g. star, triangle, cross.

Then you can print away to your hearts content!

scarlotti · 19/10/2009 14:40

Comma don't be of my short lived burst. My last 2 labours have had a definite start with waters breaking so I'm not used to this at all! Feel like a first timer not knowing if this is the start of anything, or just junior settling further down with a bit of fanfare

Feel a bit better now, went and did some sorting that's been on my mind and my body hasn't reacted to it so hoping it was a little blip and I still have a little way to go. Mum is coming up to help from 5 hours away but step-dad has a hospital appt on Weds that they really can't miss!

hobnob physio said no squatting positions as your legs can splay outwards (which is what I used boht times before ) but to go for positions where your knees/feet are solid on the floor - so knees bent hip width apart while leaning up against the bed or whatever, or standing in the same position, or on all fours. This was for the second stage, i.e. pushing. She said if you have to be on your back on the bed (monitoring etc) then to have someone brace your leg from the side so it doesn't move outwards from your body when you push.
For any stitching needed, it's likely the good old stirrups will come out. For this, you are supposed to lift (with help) both legs up together before moving them sideways into the stirrups. Don't put one leg in, then the other as that puts a lot of pressure on the pelvis.
Hope that makes sense - she was showing me at the same time!!

Laugs · 19/10/2009 14:48

If you have to be monitored, do you have to lie on your back? I know I was last time, but would like to avoid it if possible. Could you, say, be kneeling up on the bed?

eeyore2 · 19/10/2009 15:17

Have finally caught up with a little bit of the thread. Loving the rodent dream!!!

beepbeep · 19/10/2009 15:47

Laugs - I was monitored for a while with DD but most hospitals have a strap the can fit round your stomach so don't have to be on the bed. Most births don't require constant monitoring, after taking off strap and with DS the just checked baby every so often with a dopler (sp?!)

Rodents - scary things!

Really sorry not had chance to catch up properly, I've been out all day and I'm off to visit my dsd tonight, he is still in hospital and has been told today that he needs a full heart bypass not surprisingly he is very upset. Anyway on the bright side it means he will be off work for a couple of months so will be around to hold screaming baby while I see to my other 2!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 19/10/2009 16:43

Hello everyone, I have a problem: I can't stop playing Bejewelled on Facebook. It is highly addictive and I need to stop!!!!! I knew I shouldn't have clicked the link yesterday. Sigh.

Hope everyone is ok. V. impressed at those of you organised about cards / Christmas presents / potato printing, etc.

I have to get DS1's birthday out the way before I can think about Christmas and his birthday is two days after my due date...so Christmas is definitely going to be a post-baby thing. Thank goodness for online shopping.

Starting to get a bit nervous now...keep having breast feeding dreams - they are very nice dreams though with no toe-curling nipple soreness. I hope this means that this time things will go better

beepbeep · 19/10/2009 16:53

Tigger - my DSD's father had a full heart by-pass, he feels so much better having had it, it didn't take him as long as he thought to get over it and it has made such difference to his life. Hope your DSD is feeling better aout it soon, must be very daunting mind.

helips · 19/10/2009 16:57

raggie thanks for the potatoe printing tips, I will let you know how I get on tomorrow

tigger hope you dsd operation goes smoothly, when is he having it?

tabby hope you and the family are ok, how is your dh baring up? hope you are able to get some rest after your false alarm on Friday.

Just got back from the Chiropractors and my back feels worse than ever. I had to hobble back to my car that was parked hardly any distance away from the practice but took forever to get to, and a man stopped me on the way to check that I was ok, how embarrassing. I have booked myself in for some acupuncture tomorrow morning so hopefully that will do the trick. I don't know how much longer I can put up with this pain, it just seems to be getting worse. I'm really worried that the baby is in an awkward position meaning another long labour and potential cs. Ds was posterior and part of me wonders if my body is incapable of positioning a baby properly, feeling a bit emotional

raggie · 19/10/2009 17:29

Oh poor you helips, sorry to hear you're in pain. Can you take it easy tonight? Is it a case of it has to get worse (after the chiropractors) to get better? If not, hope acupuncture helps.

If it makes you feel any better, a man stopped me on the escalator up from Kings X last night to ask if I was 'off somewhere in a hurry?' i.e. the labour ward, as I was having severe BHs and holding my belly and groaning/sighing loudly!

Ninjacat · 19/10/2009 17:37

Hello all, just back from monster baby confirmation scan.
My notes read: Head 343mm TERM PLUS
Abdominal Circ 340mm 40 WEEKS 0 DAYS.
Current est weight 7 1/2 pounds.
I AM 35 WEEKS AND 1 DAY!!!!!
I am currently curled up in the corner of the room shaking. Was also told baby is no where near ready to come out yet and still moving around freely (it doesn't feel that freely to be honest)
Oh and sonographer was excited to show us that baby has hair. I'm sure that will make all the difference.

Tigger my friends mum had a tripple heart bypass and said she felt 10years younger. Hope it has the same effect on your dad.

OP posts:
wook · 19/10/2009 17:41

ouch Ninja did they have any ideas as to what to do with baby?

Ninjacat · 19/10/2009 17:46

I have to have a second GTT test just in case anything has changed. They wont induce baby because although he is big that is no indication of being fully cooked as it were.
Have consultant appointment 17th Nov and MW appointment next week.
No clear answers today really other than it's baby not excess fluid.
I'm very scared now though

OP posts:
hobnob57 · 19/10/2009 17:48

Ninja you must 'do' great placentas! I bet it's a monster too.

I'm not trying to say you're baby's a monster - sorry!

Happy potato printing everyone. We have done stars, Christmas trees, Xmas puds (just a round potato) with separate holly and snowmen. I think the puds have been the most successful so far.

scarlotti thanks for the tips. I had written squatting as a birth position in my notes since this apparently cured a friend of her SPD, but will revise it to kneeling I think.

BBL you have reminded me that I must pay attention to DD's birthday in early Dec rather than Christmas. Far too easily distracted .

wook · 19/10/2009 17:50

Hmmm glad I did not know ds was going to be big, ignorance is blis!
Presumably they won't let you go beyond 40 wks though? Were your others big? (Am I right in thinking you have more than one Ninja?)

wook · 19/10/2009 17:52

Bliss even!
