Arrrgh i am awake ! My bump is very big today, grown significantly in last couple of days, and is hard and sore, sore in one particular spot at top slightly to the right, a sort of burning feeling, but feels perhaps muscular rather than acid indigestion...anyone else had similar? Baby also has hiccups, and is moving around so much has been for hours, and, while he is moving, he is prodding me in my cervix, and i keep getting horrendous stabbing pains in my lady garden area (externally) grrr.

Oh well shall take this opp to catch up on some posts , methinks loys of us will be here at this time soon...

I wonder how lemontop and broodzilla are doing with their boys?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 03:01

erika oh did not not read your post before i posted - snap we have the same things happening, hard belly, stabbing pain! perhaps its a 35 wk thing? I do not recall the stabbing pain last time...

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 03:12

tamlin that your news was not good for the breech. How utter crap for you. I would echo the acupuncture. It is at least worth giving a go. It works for so many other things, i do not beleive it to be mumbo jumbo. I know some people who swear by it, and it definitely releived sickness symptoms, even if only for a few days.

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 05:05

Pav I could have written your post on the aches and pains, mine are identical. I have a burning sensation on the top right of my bump, not sure what that is all about.

I'm awake and can't get back to sleep. The 4am starts seem to be rather common these days.

Thought I might have been going into labour last night (no such luck), I keep wishing each day that it will happen. I have it in my head I will be early or at least on time, like I was with my DS. I can't imagine having another possible 5 weeks (inc 2 weeks over my EDD) left inside my pregnant body!

Erika my bras feel too tight as well. I normally have a 32 back measurement, now wearing a 34 but think I might need a 36. I don't want to spend out much money on bras at the moment, well not until I've figured out if I'm breastfeeding or not, so I think Primark will be getting a quick visit from me this morning for a couple of cheap non wired bras.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 06:50

Ah fruit, sorry you have it too, but sort of pleased someone else knows what on earth i am going on about! you just missed me, i went to sleep about 4:30am, up again at 5:15am gently woking to the soft padding of dd coming into the front room where i am crashed 'can i watch teeeeeeveeeeeee? pleeeeeeeeease?' no, hop in and we will doze for a bit. So she hpped in going 'shhh can't wake daddy' lucky him eh? she was very cute, but alas no dozing, only cuteness and now she is watching thomas the tank engine.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 06:53

6:15am dd woke, not 5:15am. i would definitely have sent her back to daddy at 5:15am!!

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 07:09

I had a 30 minute power nap, then to be woken by a very busy baby, doing what, I have no idea?! I thought movements slowed down at around 37 weeks, mine seems to be running a blimmin marathon several times a day.

Pav I remember having these sleepless nights with my last pg. At the time I didn't cope with the lack of kip as wasn't used to having my full 8hrs of blissful sleep uninterrupted. I think I've become immune to broken sleep now, and the odd 10 minute power nap really helps me, I've had a few of them at late. DS & DH are still asleep, I'm not jealous

DS in pre-school this morning, It's either I hit Primark or I come home for a nap. I could really do with a change of scenery.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 07:28

dh said i woke like this last time, not recalling! iused to need 10 hours sleep, end of. but i have had broken sleep forever since, just not this bad! i suffered from serious insomnia ever since mum passed away. 'diagnosed'' of sorts with ptsdm, as my dad died 4 months after (not so bad impact wise, did not know him just weird becoming an 'orphan') i was preparing for wedding, had a tribunal at work for sex discrimination re maternity status, being a new mum - dr said ptsd would be a common reaction and insomnia is how it would often manifest itself. it never really returned to normal but now realise its probably got nothing to do with anything else other than being a parent

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 07:37

I am going to make cookies today, for the builders. Although not sure its a good idea as the main bloke has raging tooth ache and is due to have it pulled today. Might be rubbing it in a bit! I shall make a lot so they can take some home with them.

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 07:37

My mum sufferes from terrible insomina and it has caused so many health related problems for her. I can normally sleep very well, when I'm allowed to do so! I'm sure the problems and experiences you have gone through haven't helped your sleep, now its added to with being heavily pg as well as being a parent. It's not easy this pregnancy malarky eh?!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 07:40

fruit not this one. I really do not remember it being so hard with dd, but perhaps its partly a memory editing thing . I am a very fussy sleeper, i reckon that is my main problem - i like it pitch black and no noise. Not likely with a child! I am for the most part fine with it, when it first used to be sleep deprived i hated it, now i am much more used to it!

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 07:41

Thats sounds nice Pav Make sure you get to eat a few of them [grin}. Ah suddenly remembered I have a New York cheesecake in the fridge, ready for just little me to devour! DH hates cheesecake, yum! yum!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 07:44

I love NY cheesecake. It is the only one i do though. The others are nice enough, but NY cheesecake is the best...pref with some raspberry coulis poured around the edge of the plate, but on its own is fine too! You must eat it for breakfast... all on your own, shame!

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 07:44

Can you imagine if all this had to happen to MEN!!! My DH wouldn't know what had hit him!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 07:45

lol, if it happened to men, there would be far fewer children in the world, we would only have one for sure! .

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 07:46

Don't tempt me Pav It already feels like it's lunch time!

helips · 16/10/2009 07:47

Morning everyone,

sorry so many of you are having sleepless nights and pains.

Erika think the black poo is very common when taking iron tablets. Sorry you are having a stressful time at home but I'm sure your dp will look after you next week and you can have a well earned break from your family!

Tamlin sorry to hear about your day yesterday, just echo what everyone else says about acupuncture, it's definately worth trying and I've heard Reflexology is meant to be good too. Good luck!

Pavlov Thats very sad about losing your mum and dad, with everything else it must have been a very stressful time and no wonder it's affected your sleep. I hope you manage to catch up on some sleep this weekend, can you get your dh to take dd out so you can have some me time?

I am really pissed off with dh. He went on a work do last night and promised me he wouldn't drink too much and be back by 10-11pm. Anyway I wake up at 11.30pm and surprise surprise, no dh. Try texting and ringing him but can't get hold of him. Am really annoyed that a. I can't get hold of him, what if I had gone into labour? and b. him saying trust me, I won't be late home what with you being 8 months pregnant, and then rolling in at 1.30am stinking of booze. Then his alarm went off at 5am waking me up but he goes back to sleep whilst I lie in bed seething. I must say, he got some very angry texts last night and today I am going to ignore any texts, emails or phonecalls, give him a taste of his own medicine! Honestly, why are men so rubbish when they go out?

helips · 16/10/2009 07:48

mmmm cheesecake for breakfast, drool

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 16/10/2009 07:55

helips on your behalf re your dh. how annoying, what is it with men and self control? you have had to stop drinking, partying completely and he is still able to go out and have a good time, you would think moderation is ok wouldn't you? DH goes out til very late but he drives so no drinking. until halloween party. he says he wont get drunk. hmmm.

Thing with losing my parents and everything else. I never felt stressed, or anxious, or upset mostly. I never really dwelled on it (possible never dealt with it either though) but it manifested itself at night, by waking me up for several hours. Dr said this was classic of mild ptsd as no signs of depression or overt stress. It was a very weird time as in the day i got on with things just fine, although according to my friends i was much more withdrawn. I did not think so though, and although i know i was now, i put it down more to being a new mother, which i absolutely loved and threw myself into, it was the best way of coping, having a newborn, i just loved it and spent a lot of time nurturing, going out to beaches with her, walks in the woods, helping her experience things. No time for getting pissed any more!

Tabbykat · 16/10/2009 08:05

Morning all - sorry to all those who have had trouble sleeping or feel rubbish.
DD has thoughtfully given me her cold from which of course she is now fully recovered so have spent all night up coughing. Baby is so low down that every time I cough I can feel her pushing down the bottom - can you cough out a baby? Had so many BH last night that were actually really sore that I began to panic this was it, but it seems to have tailed off, thank goodness....

Horrible day coming up - it's BIL's funeral this morning. Still no news on what he actually died of, looking increasingly likely it was a reaction to the new medication, as it definitely wasn't an overdose. It's all over the front pages of the local papers as well, because of the medical angle, and cos he was only 27, which is just horrible. No idea at all how to get DH through today as his parents rely on him so much for everything anyway - think just trying not to go into labour will be my main job.

And to top it all off BIL's favourite artist was Leonard Cohen, so they're opening with that bloody Hallelulah song, which I can't stand listening to at the best of times as it makes me sob even if I'm in the happiest of moods - would it be rude to surreptitiously listen to my ipod during that bit so I can't hear??

Sorry for teh me, me, me post - hope everyone has a good day,xx

Tamlin · 16/10/2009 08:14

Tabbykat, it sounds as if you've got a very rough time ahead of you - your poor DH, I hope he gets through it all right.

Woke up this morning feeling very tired and deflated. I rang the acupuncturist, and she said - very nicely - that 37 weeks was too late for acupuncture to be efficacious in turning the baby. So that's that, then - even the hippies won't help me.

I am trying to list all the positives about having a planned section. No worries about delivering the baby with no medical staff in the room! No risk of fourth-degree tearing with a resulting vaganus or assgina! Being able to SIT after delivery (if not cough or laugh)! And much prettier newborn with no conehead or bruising!

And - uh, yeah, that's all I've got so far.

BeckyBendyLegs · 16/10/2009 08:21

Tabbycat I will be thinking of you today. I've got that song in my head now too - sad song - the DSs like that song too. Big hugs for today xxxx

I've had a persistent cough for three weeks now and the baby is still in there...but I'm sure it'll find the sound of coughing soothing when it comes out!

No news here - DH and I found some video tape of DS1 when he was 3 weeks old (December 2003) and we sat up until 11.30pm last night watching it. As DS1 was born 16 November it was coming up to Christmas and I'd draped tinsel around his carseat handle and there was one scene of me rocking him to sleep in his car seat while listening to cheesy Christmas songs by Wham and Paul McCartney, et al. There's probably rules now about not letting babies fall asleep in carseats! There was nothing then - I was always rocking him to sleep in it.

BeckyBendyLegs · 16/10/2009 08:23

Oh Tamlin sorry that the acupuncturist says she can't help. That's really annoying for you. Try to stay positive many people have to have a CS - I'd say a planned one is better than an emergency one at least.

Fruitpastels · 16/10/2009 08:26

Tabby Thinking of you today. Take care

Tamlin Up until last week my baby was breech and it turned itself at 36 weeks, the day before my presentation scan. I was very upset at the thought of having a CS as it never crossed my mind that I might have to have one. After a lot of worry and stress, I got my head around it, mainly knowing the baby will be born safely. You and baby will be fine. I think it just needs time to sink in for you.

Laugs · 16/10/2009 08:33

Tabbykat I hope today's not too stressful and provides some sense of relief/ outlet for all of you. I'll be thinking of you.

Tamlin That's such a shame about the acupuncture. Like Becky says, an awful lot of births end in CS, so at least this way you can prepare yourself in advance. I know that's probably little consolation though at this stage.

Pavlov So sorry to hear of the loss of your parents.
