Hello!!

MN hasn't been working for me since Friday!!

IDOB, I second the Lamzee stuff. It is fab!!

Tink, you sound like me when I first went on the pill. They changed the pill I was using and I was fine.

We were woken up loads of times last night by fireworks. I am exhausted and was at work this morning. It was really quiet except for the leaking roof!!

Tink - not suprised you need a moan and want it taken out! IME, you just need to try different things until you find one that suits. Before ttc, I had the injection every 3 months and it worked brilliantly for me with no periods at all. Only downside was it took about 18 months for fertility to return. I have friends though that hated injection. What else have you tried? Definitely worth discussing options with GUM clinic.

Took O swimming yesterday. He wasn't convinced bur coped better with the splashing than me Glad my cousin was there!
He then slept from 8.20pm til 1am last night. Longest he's ever done. My problem though is that in the early hours if I sit up and feed him, I drop off to sleep which is dangerous as I think he could fall so I end up bringing him into bed. I need to try and find a way round this. Maybe try and nap when he does during the day or MN in the early hours on my phone!!
Also wish I wasn't still feeding him to sleep. Advice is to tackle this with naps first but mist of his naps are out and about due to his busy social life!

Has anyone heard any more from STT?

Diege · 01/11/2009 15:02

Hello! Have also had problems getting onto mn this weekend, and the message box is all scrunched up to the side of my screen - anyone else?
KAYZ, how was the goth weekend?
SES, shudder at swimming - not my favourite thing either.Good to get O used to it though, must think about taking J at some point
TINKS, agree, sounds like implant isn't for you. I've heard the mirena coil is good and without some of the side effects of other methods?
Have just realised that the schools go back on tues, not mon . Just in the nick of time otherwise there would have been a majorly embarrassing scenario for the dds come tomorrow morning
A bit as I had a dentists appointment at a posh private place to talk about straightening one of my teeth and don't know now if I should cancel. It would have been hard enough taking just ds and my gut is to rearrange...maybe I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say. Also have appointment with another dentists in the pm to sort out a possible bridge for a broken back tooth but dh can get back for that one (sadly!)Honestly, haven;t been in 15 years and now in a sudden fit of post-baby/pre-40 vanity I am confounded by my incompetence circumstances!
Have also been thinking about STT - hope things are going ok if you are lurking xx
Hope everyone is ok - wonder who'll be out on x-factor tonight! And so much for the twins' swine flu!!!!

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 01/11/2009 15:20

afternoon cheers ladies for support;p
before i had dd2 i was on the combined pill and worked for me so will be going back on that

diege - good luck with dentist

Starshinetiger · 01/11/2009 20:18

Tink - for problems with implant. I have never gotten on with any hormone contraceptive. We really need to sort something out now re. contraception - DH is seriously considering snip, but not sure I am 100% convinced that 2 is our number

Ses/Diege - have been wondering about STT too. Hope all is well and she is just busy settling into life with 2 boys.

Have started a topic on facebook wagon about a southern meet-up if anyone is interested?

Ses - totally sympathise about night waking. I have fallen asleep several times on middle of night feeds with DD - I know it shouldn't happen, but she's on a pillow on my lap in chair (fingers crossed emoticon). I prefer not to, as I'd prefer her to go down in cot not totally asleep. Have to say that as well as working on naps for not feeding to sleep, I did do some of it at night - i.e. taking her off when she just started limp sucking, rather than actually feeding. Also, when she was waking only 2 hours after a feed, I really perservered on not feeding. Sometimes this meant that I rocked, picked up, put down and cuddled her for 1.5 hours before then giving in and feeding, but I think she got the message. In the last week, I have seen some more developments - twice have transferred her from car seat to cot when we've got home, she's opened her eyes and then gone down for a good nap (1 hour plus), so I think she's getting on with it. She still wakes every 3-4 hours during night (i.e. usually at 10-11pm and then at ca. 3ish before getting up 6-6.30am), but she's still mainly eating fruit and veg for her meals and I'm struggling to get her interested in other stuff, although she did have a good suck on a piece of roast beef today

Sounds like you are moving in the right direction with O. We are struggling with teething here - tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since her bottom teeth started poking through gum and there was blood yesterday, but they still haven't popped through . DS used to go: runny nose, squitty bum, tooth pops through - I am so not used to this long-drawn out business!

Right, now going to focus all my attention on X Factor (loving Bon Jovi - big fan!!)

Starshinetiger · 01/11/2009 20:18

P.S. Diege - please tell me you're not still voting for Jedward?!

Diege · 01/11/2009 21:34

Hi STAR! lol, no didn;t vote for Jedward tonight (in fact would have voted Danyl if at all) though I have to say I was willing them through at the end .
Good advice there on night feeds; remember doing the same with dd1 who was bf. Think you;re spot on about gradually getting tougher. Even if you do 'give in' at some point, I really think they do get the message with attempts at toughness. Lucky that J is an easy baby and seems to love his routine (not that I've given him a choice ). So when are you ttc no.3 ??
Just watching xtra factor, then bed for me!

essenceofSES · 01/11/2009 21:41

Diege - thank goodness you didn't vote for Jedward again! I'm hoping others will gradually stop too

Star - thanks for your advice and encouragement. Sounds like you are doing really well with DD.
The last couple of nights have felt a little bit more routine again. I think the trip to Ireland and his stomach bug did upset things for a while.
This evening he was asleep at 6.50pm but then woke up at 8.30pm. I had him back asleep (by feeding within 20mins. I know he didn't need feeding and I took the easy way out (in the short term).
I think he often wakes himself when he rolls over and hits his head on the cot bars. I've got a cot bumper but am reluctant to use it as there's so much posted about risks.
I know I have to get tougher but I still seem to have this feeling of "needing to stop him crying whatever" kicking in. It's worse when I'm tired so maybe I'll go to bed in a minute...

Diege · 02/11/2009 08:45

Morning! Hope you had a good night SES, without wanting to sound condescending I was very much like you with dd1; would do anything to stop her crying and it was only with dd2 (probably out of necessity with her being just 15 months younger)that I started to toughen up a little!
Going to ring dentists and see if I can move my appointment (the cosmetic one)to when they're back at school. Will have to wait until back at work to start the treatment anyway as ds will need to be in nursery. I know I'm making a fuss about this but I have a real fear of the dentist's chair!
Hope everyone is well on this rainy Monday morning!

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 02/11/2009 09:08

morning

lol jedward cant believe they got through i am glad rachel went though lloyd is so cute and bless him for croaky voice.
my favs are jamie, lloyd and danyl

we are still suffering here with ill :-

dh is blowing , coughing and sneezing, i am all fluidy and keep blowing and sneezing
dd1 has got 7 pus filled spots on her back since yest says not itchy and she has had cp any thoughts ?
dd2 still suffering runny noise very tired she finally ate some lunch yest first in 4 days
dd1 has inset day today back tom

essenceofSES · 02/11/2009 09:33

Morning!

Feeling quite pleased this morning as O and I were up, washed and dressed and I'd hoovered and swept floors downstairs and made a bowl of porridge by 9am!
(I did then think that when I'm back at work, I'll need to have done all that by 7am but I'm not dwelling on that!)

Tink - I was quite disappointed Rachel went. I think they should have told Lloyd to come back in a couple of years.
Mt favourites are Jamie, Lucie, Stacey and Olly.

Diege - not condescending at all. In fact reassuring that I'm not being a rubbish mum by being such a softie

Nursery visit at 11am snd then I'll see if I can get him to nap this afternoon (and maybe even try self-settling again!)

Diege · 02/11/2009 10:41

Hi SES, good luck with nursery visit. Very impressed with your morning so far! I'm also wondfering how I'm going to fit it all in come January and a 6.45 target for leaving the house! Realistically it'll be over to dh, at least for 2 of the days.
Hope you feel better soon TINKS; not sure what the spots of dd could be if she's had cp; no doubt dr would say some sort of 'viral rash' as they usually do
Well have cancelled dentists for this morning, back there wed at 12 noon Still have other regular dentists this afternoon to talk about a bridge, so not totally off the hook for today. Don't know why I feel so nervous
Oh and about x-factor, don't think Lloyd is all that great tbh. A fair voice for a boy band as Louie says, but don't think it's strong enough or he has the confidence to make it (yet) as a solo artist. Glad Jedward have made it through, just for the guilty pleasure factor but want Danyl or perhaps Lucie to win.
Right, better get dressed..

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 02/11/2009 10:53

any other thoughts ladies on dd1s spots?! has 7 on her back are pus filled!!
worried as she is due back to school tom

cantmummyhaveabreak · 02/11/2009 11:15

didn't want to say it but you can get CP twice- my sister did....

Diege · 02/11/2009 11:26

Hi CANT! How are things? Yes you're right, you can get cp twice. Did pass throguh my mind TINKS so maybe worth seeing GP? It's the fluid-filled nature of the spots that make me wonder.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 02/11/2009 11:28

not so bad- AF finally arrived yesterday. Bit busy now as have to set off to collect DD1, so can't catch up properly, but should be on this afternoon.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 02/11/2009 12:05

oh no didnt know you could get cp twice !!! god i hope not last week was bad enough with both of them. i didnt go to gps last time she had it just kept her indoors.
there arent anymore spots than yesterday.
she is now saying that they are abit itchy!!
would never get a gp appointment now before tom. she doesnt seem ill!! shall i send her 2 school?
i will keep an eye on the spots.
she does seem herself last time with cp she was very moody and out of character and very dopey

Diege · 02/11/2009 12:32

TINKS, I think the second time you get it it is milder, but still contagious. They would probably fit you in at the gps at end of the day (think they have to if it's a child). Re: school, if it is cp they have to stay off until spots have burst and scabbed over. If I were you I'd see gp, but if not would keep her off for sure until spots have started to heal.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 02/11/2009 14:10

Hiya ladies.

Tink- i dont think from the look of that pic that they are CP- however i would be inclined to try and get an app to be sure.

Dad had just taken me to the local sainsbury's and i managed to get DS lots of figures for xmas- 6x Ben 10 @ £2.49 each and 3x Power Rangers @ £3.49 each.... now i'm wondering if i should get DH to take me to the one near where he works to get some more???... it'd be another hrs round trip not included time in the shop....

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 02/11/2009 14:28

have booked appmnt to have implany out [shcok] dreading it was horrid to put in

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 02/11/2009 16:15

tried drs no appmnts so will be sending dd1 to school.
dd2 has brown poo and ate lunch again
our sainsburys was packed on sat people stock piling toys what a great deal you did very well

essenceofSES · 02/11/2009 16:44

tink - sounds like DD2 is on the mend. I take it no more spots have appeared on DD1?

Can't - great shopping!

Nursery visit was ok. Made me realise that I want to visit at least another one, despite recommendation on this one. This one had good points (plenty of secure space outside for supervised play, only 9 babies under 1yr at any time, lovely staff). My concerns were that they hadn't heard of BLW and their menus are mainly purees so I'm not sure how easy it will be to continue BLW (if we find that successful!) and also there were 3 cots in the baby room but from about 9mo and older children sleep on mats covered with sheets on the floor.
This may all (good points and concerns!) be quite normal but I guess I won't know until I visit another!
My friend recommended this one as she used it for both her 2 boys and despite 4yrs between them, the same staff were there both times.

After nursery visit we went over to my parents. My mum is hilarious sometimes - don't know whether to laugh or cry tbh!
She got me a drink and put it on the table next to me and said "Is that alright there?" "Yes thanks" I said. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Yes" I said. "So it's ok there?" "Yes" I calmly said a third time! It's only a drink!!!
She also commented that my DB and SIL were flying back from Egypt yesterday and she'd looked on text and seen a flight from Egypt delayed and wondered if that was them. Dad joked that he didn't know what they'd have done to cause a flight delay. She then snapped at him and told him he always made things complicated!! This is how she always treats him!
She's having keyhole surgery on her shoulder on Thursday afternoon. She's going to be a nightmare!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 02/11/2009 17:34

OMG- i've just been offered a really good 2yo cooker and hoover washing machine from freecycle- came in very good time as our cooker is very old and could do with being replaced, and the washing machine has started not doing a full spin so i'll open the door and water will flood out- i'm so excited- i think it's the best thing we've ever been offered!!

GruffaloSoldier · 02/11/2009 20:22

Evening all,

Sorry havent been around for a while. I have loads to catch up on!

Went to Scotland Thurs-Sat as DH was on half term and I wanted to see my mum. Her chemo starts on Thursday. Was good to see her and she was loving having us all there, especially GC of course! My Dsis and her DH went with us too. GC was an angel on the plane, despite flying back at bedtime!

Ses and others, we are doing BLW which is going well but I do give purees too like CANT said i think. it works really well, but GC doesnt seem to care how it comes as long as its food and it comes quick. LOL! He bangs his hands on the table and gets very excited with every mouthful

SES I would be a bit with sleeping on the floor too. I'll ask my BF who works in a nursery what they do. I guess it depends how comfy the mats are, I dont think GC would do that he is all over the place at 6.5 m, he is going to be a nightmre by 9m...I dont know what the alternative would be though.

tbh, i don't imagine many nurseries will do BLW, but might be open to it like Gyo's was once you explained more about it.

Tink - hope dd1 is ok.

IDOB - glad you are enjoying mummyhood and DD being so good. Hooray!!

Star - very good idea to post on FB about meet up - will check it out after this post. RE xmas presents I have a 12 year old nephew and niece and they tend to like computer games, itunes vouchers if they have an ipod, books, science type sets, hmv vouchers, cool t-shirts...i know some people might prefer to give presents than vouchers but I find that at 12 they are gaining independence and like being able to get stuff for themselves...just a thought.

Diege - hope you get the house sale all wrapped up soon!the house buying malarkey is such a stressful thing. it does not surprise me that moving house is one of the most stressful life events!

Gyo - looking forward to seeing you and SG on Wed!

Hi to everyone else.

GruffaloSoldier · 02/11/2009 20:25

Oh and Star - if 8 y o niece anything like my 7 y o niece then a trip to H&m is called for or similar to get groovy clothes. My 7 y o niece is into fashion big time!so clothes/jewellery/funky pjs etc...
