Southernbelle you sound like you're having a really hard time. I hope the midwife can offer you some good support, or point you in the direction of some. I imagine most of us who are parents already feel like we're not being the greatest parents we could be at the moment, so try not to worry about that too much. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting through the day ((hugs))

Sleepless DD got a doll recently that I have been very encouraging about. I feel a bit manipulative doing it though! She does actually like playing with it, so I was thinking of getting her a little pushchair to push it around, but I feel mean because to her it would be a toy and to me it would have some other purpose.

Well I've had a nightmare weekend!

Friday night my Step Dad was rushed into hospital with chest pains, we sat in A&E for 4 hours waiting for someone to tell us something, eventually they decided to admit him, so we got to bed at 1am!!
I have visited him 2or 3 times a day since and it has now been confirmed that he had a heart attack , he and my mum had just had their longe re plastered on friday so the house was upside down, dh and I have all our spare time helping my mum get it to a semi normal state.
we hope he may come home on Wednesday but it will be a slow recovery.

I have had loads of BH all weekend and today have sharpe pains in my bump

Sorry for huge moan, will go and catch up on the thread now.

tigger so sorry to hear your news, hope you and your family are all managing to cope ok. Thinking of you.

southern do you have an osteopath near you that you could see? One appointment with mine really did wonders for my spd and meant I had a full night's sleep. Also, I've found acupuncture really helpful.

Laugs oops, are we not supposed to surreptisously (sp?!) encourage our DC's to want presents that actually benefit us somehow?! A spiderman duvet set meant we have had dry nights ever since night time nappies disappeared, and he's happy to give up his cot bed for a single 'spiderman' bed now

tigger sorry to hear you have had such bad news over the weekend, I really hope your SD makes a good recovery, how scary for you all. Make sure you find time to rest, although I know how easy that is to say rather than do.

helips How old is your DS again? DD has started to wake up with soaking nappy and bed, although DH did buy some cheap nappies because they were, well cheap he won't be making that mistake again! But even with pampers or huggies she still has leaks now, they are sodden. Its funny because she went through a phase very recently of waking up for a wee at night, having some dry nights, some nights with no nappy on and we thought she was well on the way to be dry at night, but then over the last couple of weeks, last week in particular, that has stopped completely. She does wake up at 6am or so wanting a wee now, but normally as her nappy is too wet!

I really enjoy reading this thread, and now that I'm running a little lower on energy for the endless DIY, I intend to spend much longer reading and taking part in it. Plus I'm not really sure baby is going to actually notice if there is a second coat of paint on his bedroom door for a while.

Best bit is that so many of you lovely ladies aren't first timers, nice to have a bit of experience out there to draw on.

Scarlotti, good reminder about the contact list. Must get onto that. Like the idea of a calendar to go with it, presumably so you can stagger the calls depending on importance. Day 0 - Mumsneters, Day 1 - Family. etc!

welcome venusinfers
My calendar is a little more military manouevers than that sadly - it's a list of who is available when to be on call for DD when I go to hospital as she will have to look after DS.

Am a bit of a list and control freak so like to have everything organised!!

sleepless - DH's aunt just suggested Beatrice, how funny... I like it but we already have a name picked out. (Just not telling, for exactly the reason that we don't want to hear other people's opinions on it!)

southernbelle - I forget what sleeping feels like too

tigger - so sorry to hear about your stepdad! I hope he recovers well.

I wonder if Beatrice is part of a new naming wave? There are four little girls in DS's toddler group, and three of them are Beatrices - Beatrice Rose, Beatrice Flora and Beatrice Isobel! We call them by their full names to avoid confusion. I never met a little Beatrice before we moved here, although I do think it's a gorgeous name.

We're probably calling this one Sebastian, but right now, I am referring to him as 'you little stinker'. The midwife thinks this baby may be breech. What I thought was a bony little bottom sticking up may, in fact, be a head. I said, miserably: 'But I can feel and see feet sticking out in front there!' And she said 'Ye-es, but if he's got his legs sticking straight up, that's where they'll be. And I think I can flex the "bottom" as if it's on - well, a neck.' We both agree that the little stinker is posterior, but it's a question of which way up - he is either a right occipital posterior baby, or a frank breech. I am not loving either option.

I have a scan booked for Wednesday morning. There may be a lot of brooding and chocolate-gorging before then.

scarlotti alas I am not so organised. I am winging it and hoping someone will get out of bed and have DD if it is the middle of the night. But, I might talk to the nursery...

We do have a few people on standby, but for various reasons, our actual plan has gone out of the window. DH is more s social expert than me anyway, if anyone can be cheeky enough to ask people favours, its him rather than me!

welcome* Venus! Not long for you!!! How has the pg been so far? Do you have children already? Where are you in the country?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/10/2009 12:41

I lurve sebastian! BUt we have a friend who has a dog called it, so we can't as we think if Zeb every time we say it !

DH keeps saying he likes Crowley after Alistair crowley only as I like playing Mr Crowley by Ozzie Osborne on Guitar Hero) and he is telling everyone that it his name [grrrr].

I feel a bit odd. This pg third trimester malarky is a pain is it not, agree with all symptoms being made to be some they are not - currently though, considering calling gp for some more paranoia filled reassurances. I have what feels like a migraine coming on, headache of a very dry nature, floaty bits and feels like my head is swimming, feeling light headed. I felt light headed since yesterday. Not fuzzy, more like some one is moving the floor/walls.

Tamlin you're kidding! I've never met a Beatrice before our cherub...we obviously set a trend I love Sebastian and we were going to call bump that if a boy..its the name both DH and I agree on.

tigger big hugs to you at this difficult time. Hope he gets better and great that you are looking after your mum.

laugs all toys are a means to get the brain stimulated and keep them busy..they all have their purpose! I think she needs to learn to care and be gentle. Anything to avoid me telling her off later. I don't want her put out one bit. She isn't, however, bowled over with it.. she prefers puzzles, books and plastic fruit!

I agree pavlov third trimester is a pain..everywhere. I see floaty things all the time. Def feeling sharp pains low down when I walk..I wince all the way down the road running after DD.

Hi venus hope you're feeling better than the rest of us!

Dd fell out of bed at 4 am with huge bump, then walked around whimping, searching for her rabbit...I gave it to her, then rocked her to sleep in the rocking chair, then brought her to bed. Not a word from her or me the entire time. Then, when I was about to close the door with baby peaceful in bed, she lifts her head a bit, looks at me, and says in a really shrill voice: CHICKEN?!

So today have to go to children party, have to rush to get presents on semi-holiday becasue I totally forgot about it, then look at loathsome zoo animals and smile...want to watch TV....

btw, some of the menstrual cramps right now might be the sort of contractions that lower the baby into the pelvis. They have a special term in German for them, and my doctor mentioned them, too. They can be quite pronounced, so maybe that's what some of you experience? It's all progress! Wished my lo would get out of my throat...

sleepless that's true about all toys having an educational purpose. I suppose I just feel bad as I know I am putting more effort into her liking this one, because I know something that she doesn't (really). But of course it is done with the best intentions - to make her life easier and happier and less confusing.

Beatrice, Sebastian and Caspar are lovely names. I am keeping ours quiet for the moment

Thank you all for the kind messages and hugs, I'm off to see him again later and hope to get an update on his condition.

Fubble Sorry you are feling so bad, hope you have more energy soon!!!

I have made a timetable of the boys activities today so that I can give copies to my mum and Dh and have put an extra ready to go into the boys bag (incase they end up with my Dad or sister) Not sure now whether my mum will be able to help as she may be too busy with my sd.
I have also made up a list of phone numbers of people who can help out with the boys for school runs etc and a list of up coming parties, school fayres etc, infact on paper I'm very well prepared just not organised in the house yet.

sleepless and longway I love the name Beatrice and pav take no notice of your friends, call your baby whatever you want to.
Venus Hello and welcome, yes do tell us more about yourself.

scarlotti glad you are feeling a bit better.
