Thats good your dd seems to have come round to the prospect of being a sister, ds has his days, but think he will be ok when the baby arrives. it will be a big adjustment for all the brothers and sisters, having to share mummy and daddy's attention.

ErikaMaye · 10/10/2009 14:16

UGH PC problems - again - and of course, PC crashed just after I'd typed a long post!! And of course there are more now I'm back Off to read and type again!!!

Comma2 · 10/10/2009 14:22

Ugh Erika, you poor thing. Forget 'em. At least they are not coming now.

Pavlov, I'm from Hamburg, Germany. Married over here and now I'm stuck. I spent some time in London as a teen, absolutley loved it and we might try and get a job in GB once baby things settle down a bit.

I think Healthcare is more expensive here, haven't been following the current discussion on this very carefully...
but we don't have to pay extra for it, it's just a modern hospital where they don't even have group rooms anymore. Other hospitls I looked at have those and you have to pay extra to reserve a private room, or you get one for free when all the group ones are taken. (actually at one really close to me where you do get champagne after delivery. Unfortunately they don't have a baby emergency unit in case baby needs immediate special care). So I just got lucky with my hospital. On the down side, everythign is very regulated and you don't have many options as far as the labor goes; doc decides and you better do it. Bit of a trade-off there. Also, it's an hour through thick traffic, which is a bit nerve-wrecking.

We asked a friend to take care of dd1 if she comes before MIL comes in from the other side of the country... but really am not sure how this'll work, she has two kids of her own etc. Better call her and ask what exactly we should do if it's 4 am and thigns need to move ahead...also, she is 40 min away...

Is anybody else afraid this labor will be a 45 min thing and you'll be giving birth on the way to the hospital?? For some reason I think this will happen to me, and I keep playng through in my mind what I'll do...

Fruitpastels · 10/10/2009 14:32

Becky DS had a temperature for 2-3 days but no other symptoms, so not sure what that was all about. I then got ill with a cold and have felt very rough, typical!

I think I'll have a problem with DS when visitors arrive to meet the baby, or when we visit friends and family. He is so used to being the centre of attention. We will have to take things slowly and warn everyone beforehand to include him as much as possible.

Fruitpastels · 10/10/2009 14:35

Comma2 are you offered the option of a homebirth?

ErikaMaye · 10/10/2009 14:45

Pavlov DP is exactly the same with me being naked, its quite funny. We had a "serious" conversation last night where I reminded him that when the baby gets here he will have to share my boobs. He said they could have one each Oh, and as for the builders... Do you think it might shut them up if a whole thread load of pregnant women turned up on his doorstep? Because I could do with a trip I hope it gets better soon.

Laugs so not shocked at out status, we tend to manage it quite a lot - high fives and cake all round!!!

Becky I hope your DS is feeling better now, poor lamb.

Scarlotti how is your ear? And hey, if its a weekend I'll be just down the road, so give me a call if you need an emergency baby sitter!!!

Sleepless yey for a day off, I hope you bloody well enjoy it, you've been working so hard recently!!!

Helips I have no idea... Thing is, this is the same group of "friends" that stopped talking to me when I went to sixth form, took the mick out of me when I fell ill, and recently called me an unsociable bitch for not wanting to go and see a comedian I don't find funny the week before my due date Plus the fiasco at my birthday. They regularly go out and don't invite me, and to be frank, I don't care any more. But was just so shocked at how rude it was!!

Comma2 I'd rather it be 45mins than 45 hours!!! Though the first stage of labour is supposed to typically last longer in my age group... How far away if the hospital from you?

Fruitpastels if its any help, I was six when my brother was born, and remember it quite fondly. Yes, I was VERY jealous at times, but then again, when he had colic, I was the only one who he'd stop crying for and feed for and go to sleep for. As for visitors, my parents were fab, and I realise now they must have asked everyone to bring a little something for me if they were going to bring a gift for him, to celebrate me becoming a big sister. I was very proud of myself, actually

DPs mother called earlier, and has apparently booked the 17th and 18th of November off. Not being funny, but considering DP was 3 months early, surely she should know that babies tend not to appear on their due dates?!?

Is anyone else really pig sick of being pregnant now? I would just really like my body back, my old wardrobe back, and be able to eat pate!!!!

LissyGlitter · 10/10/2009 14:51

The other day, I had to have an internal examination, and DP asked me if he should leave or just avert his eyes I pointed out that he has actually seen my bits before!

longwayaway · 10/10/2009 15:06

Erika those people don't sound like anything resembling friends! They sound jealous to me, like they're trying to drag you down to their sad, petty level. Ignore! And what is DP's mum thinking she'll do on those days? Was she hoping to be at the birth?

Spent the morning at an active birth workshop, led by the woman who teaches my prenatal yoga class. Really lovely to be able to chat with all my yoga friends and finally meet their partners. Also feeling like DH and I are on the same page as far as what's expected of him while I'm in labor, which is good.

Fruitpastels · 10/10/2009 15:07

Thanks Erika it's his 4th birthday on the week of my EDD, so I'm hoping there will be lot's going on for him with presents, cake and visitors, and a big fuss made of him And yes, I'm very sick of being pregnant now!! I so want to be back in my old clothes, well I'm hoping to be! But strange as it may seem, when I had DS I missed my bump for a while and it took time to get used to seeing a different body

lemontop · 10/10/2009 15:37

Hi all

Anyone else feeling ready to pop? I'm in limbo land waiting for everyone (after 37 weeks though!)

Things are starting to settle down at home although Isaac seems to sleep all day and favour waking every hour through the night for feeds! He's so cute though and seems to be gaining weight which is good. I'm struggling a bit with breastfeeding and having to do a lot of expressing but I reckon the most important thing is him getting the milk and not how he gets it.

Just a taster of what's to come. I was up at 5.00 and changed Isaac, his very dirty nappy and clothes. As I was feeding him he filled another nappy I had to change after the feed and while I was doing this he peed all over me. Nothing like illuminous yellow poo that time of the morning!

LissyGlitter · 10/10/2009 15:41

lemon oh how I remember those days with DD!

Comma2 · 10/10/2009 15:50

@ Fruitpastel: I can do that somehow (no Idea how), but it's not offered by my doctor/hospital...There are birthing centers though, and if I wasn't so lazy slash paranoid about not having all the state-of the art medical equipment next to my and baby's bed, I would find out about it....

@Erika: bringing dd1 to friends house is maybe 1h 30 min, drive to hospital is 1 hr...just read too many stories where people got to hospital only to deliver within 45 min...and prob didn't have 2-3 h driving before. That said, my last labour was 24 h, so no particular reason to expect a rush

Trikken · 10/10/2009 15:52

hey lemontop, good to hear from you! love the baby stage though, even with all the poop and sickies.

I feel like i could pop, my spine keeps clicking when I walk and I have the constant need to wee even when my bladder is empty. (not like cystitis though) cant get comfy and get niggling aches, but she's probably having me on, knowing my luck she'll be late.

Comma2 · 10/10/2009 15:59

Oh Lemontop, the joys of tiny babies! Hope you can catch upon sleep durig the day?

Just put the diaper table in my bedroom. Last time I had to get out of bed and into baby room every time baby needed to drink/be changed, and DH didn't help and kept whining about not beign able to sleep (sigh).

So this time, all baby action will be in my bedroom, baby will sleep in my bed for first few weeks and DH will sleep in guest room. If I have to do it by myself, I might as well make myself as comfortable as possible.

Trikken · 10/10/2009 16:02

sounds like a good idea comma, only just room in my room for the moses basket.

ldeeanna · 10/10/2009 16:03

Hi everyone just to wish you all good luck-I was on here in my first 3 months but I couldn't keep up!! But i come and check every now and then what you are all up to!! I wish I had more time to get on here!! Cant beleive we are all nearly there-its gone so quickly (sort of)!!!
Got so many gross things that have happened to my body-can't wait for it all to get semi normal!!! Got-im sure-the worst V Veins in the world!!!
I am going to be a regular here till the end-so judst to reintroduce myself!! My name is Liza and i'm 34+3 and cant wait for my baby but terrified of labour!!! Has anyone had there baby yet?!!
Speak soon, take care!!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 10/10/2009 16:46

Hi everyone! We're back from the party and poor little DS2 is exhuasted. I had a stressful car journey back with DS2 complaining his eyes hurt and his 'poorly' was back and DS1 telling me: 'I've eaten too much cake and sweeties so please may I sit in the front seat next to you with a bag in case I am sick?' He was fine but he's so funny with the way he phrases things. DS2 is having a bit of relapse. No idea what is wrong with him. They are watching Trumpton at the moment.

Ideeanna I remember you! Welcome back

Fruitpastels just make sure your visitors give your DS lots of attention when they visit. It is my DS1's birthday two days before my EDD too! I'm hoping I'm late so he can enjoy his birthday.

Trikken hope your DS feels better now.

BeckyBendyLegs · 10/10/2009 16:48

PS Lemontop so good to hear from you I hope the feeding gets easier, it can be hard, it is a skill that can take some time to muster. At this party my friend's sister breast fed her 1 year old little girl and she made it look so easy and effortless, and so discrete, I was so jealous as I never managed to get to that stage. I really want to this time! Good luck with the feeding

ErikaMaye · 10/10/2009 17:02

Ideeanna welcome back Two have "popped" so far, Lemontop and Broodzilla have both had beautiful baby boys. I'm terrified and excited too, think its all normal!!

Lemontop lovely to hear from you. I hope the feeding gets a bit easier. I just showed your pictures to DP and he was cooing for at least ten minutes!!!

My brother was due on my birthday I think, though because of medical reasons mum had to have a CS - she argued with the doctors to get it done far enough from my birthday so they didn't clash!! Bless her

katster37 · 10/10/2009 17:10

Hi everyone, and yay for baby Isaac, Lemontop! Lovely to hear from you. Sounds like you are doing great with the feeding, too, and he is putting on weight.

Just checking in to see how everyone is. We have to set off in a min for a 30th birthday.. Not really looking forward to it, will be full of p*ssed people, but nevermind.

Saw the MW this morning - baby is 1/5th engaged, but is oblique, and back-to-back at minute, which is terrifying me. So I will be bouncing on that ball in the hope that he turns soon! She also measured fundal height 3 times and got three different measurements - 31, 33 and 32 (I am 34 weeks). Slightly scared but she said it is probably because he is diagonal hence not actually using the top of the uterus.

Welcome back Ideanna! We are similar gestations and I too am absolutely terrified of labour! Have you tried a hypnobirthing CD? I have no idea if it will work, but am trying it just in case!

BBL glad you made it home with no pukes!

Sleepless yay for a day off!

Helips How is the nerve? Trapped nerves can be so painful, I feel for you

Right, have to go but will catch up later on. x

wook · 10/10/2009 18:27

Not at all surprised this is one of the busiest threads- I can't keep up at all but good to hear you're coping well Lemontop. Fruitpastels ds is very excited but I do wonder how he will cope with the reality of his sister as opposed to the concept!

Dh and I took ds (he's 4) to see Up today as a treat outing before baby arrives. We all really loved it but I have to warn you, if you are as soppy as me you'll be awash with tears in the first five minutes. In fact, I was blubbing at the trailer for Where The Wild Things Are (which looks amazing) and just carried on from there really! ( I blame the Arcade Fire song in the background, coupled with the cutely expressive eyes of the boy playing Max!) Ds too engrossed in his naughtily large bag of treat pic n mix/ jumping up and down in the action scenes to notice that his mummy was disgracing him in public!!

Erika I can understand the impatience as due date looms!

I'm veering between desperately wanting it over and wanting to keep on till Halloween at the mo. On one hand, we're ready and I'm sick of not being able to wear nice shoes or inspect the bikini line. On the other, there is something to be said for having time to relax and do nice things like have a swim or go to the pictures.

Also, quite resigned to the Scorpio thing now. Have been doing some more investigations: Marie Curie, Sylvia Plath, Katherine Hepburn all quite cool Scorpio ladies for a start. Then there's also Winona Ryder, Hilary Clinton, Vivien Leigh... it's a good list

helips · 10/10/2009 18:28

welcome back ideeanna i remember you too! It's hard work trying to keep up with this thread, we are just too chatty!

lemontop sounds like isaac is keeping you busy! Don't worry about expressing, like you say it doesn't matter how isaac gets the milk and it will help to keep your supply up. I promise you it does get easier, I struggled for the first 6 weeks with ds but suddenly it just clicked and I loved it.

My back is still really sore and I am really fed up. Got so much to do and in too much pain to do anything. Also, starting to feel really overwhelmed about the baby coming. How am I going to cope with 2? Anyone else feeling nervous, not just about the birth but with what comes after?

katster hope you have a lovely time at your 30th party and everyone else have a nice evening. I am going to veg in front of Strictly Come Dancing whilst dh cooks my dinner, yum! Steak and chips followed by lemon cheesecake, bring it on!! (might even have a glass of wine to cheer myself up!)

southernbelle77 · 10/10/2009 19:54

Lemon cheesecake?? Lemon cheesecake??? Ohhhhhhhhh I WANT lemon cheesecake!!! Enjoy it for me too please helips !!

Glad Issac is doing so well Lemon! I can't wait to meet my little one!

Mifwife phoned this am and is going to talk to her manager about getting me to see someone else as she wasn't happy about how I was treated. As it goes I am starting to feel more calm about the whole thing and will just have to take it as it comes, but at least she is with me and I'm not being paranoid about the horrible consultant, lol!

Right, off to have dinner now and then bed. Full of a head cold and am knackered!

helips · 10/10/2009 19:58

Thats great news about the midwife southernbelle, hope your cold feels better soon...(passes over a slice of cheesecake)

BeckyBendyLegs · 10/10/2009 20:08

Yes please me too for lemon cheesecake.

We're having spag bol tonight and might also have a cheeky glass of red to go with it. It's funny how huge a treat a glass of wine is these days.

We started watching Sleepless in Seatle last night so will finish that (were interrupted by DS2 and I decided to go to bed at that point expecting a bad night - I had been right to!).

I smell of massage oil. Just had a bath and oiled my belly up.
