LissyGlitter · 11/10/2009 18:15

weston but I have been thinking that about every poo for the last few weeks! I'm only 34 weeks, this could continue for ages...you can't request an early section because of boredom can you?

beepbeep · 11/10/2009 18:41

Ideaanna - have you tried jojo maman bebe or blooming marvelous - I got DS a lovely red fleecy snowsuit (spotty inside) whch was unisex from Jojo - this was last year though, not sure what they've got now.

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/10/2009 19:18

I've just heard my friend expecting the big baby (mentioned earlier - due to be induced on Tues) has had a baby girl 11lbs 10oz. I'm feeling all gooey now. I said to her that once she had her baby the reality of me having mine would hit me!!!!

Hi all

Thanks for all your wishes of concern you're a lovely bunch!

Had another mini odd turn today so have now knocked the pain killers on the head as the whole thing is just too disoreintating. Get cramps in my tummy like with a dodgy tum, head to the loo then my brain gets confused as to what's going on - I wonder is it a contraction, panic, get hot, think no, try to go to the loo, nothing happens, panic, get hot ... can you see a pattern here?!?!!
Think it's a dodgy tum from the strong pills as once I'd finally got that sorted in my brain my body fell into line and I felt much better.

I have had a loose tum now for a good week though and get strong twinges now - think it's just practice ones but they're quite sharp.
And no, not really ready just yet for it to happen!

Ear is slowly on the mend which is good as I'd like at least one more full night's sleep before this baby arrives.

ideanna next do lovely snowsuits in neutral colours as well as blue/pink and they really wash well and last. Ds wore his for months and Erika has it now and it still looks as good as new.

pav would give anything to be a fly on the wall when your builder recieves that piece of news!!
ninja hope the court case goes well for you

Big wave to everyone else, off downstairs now to get a coffee and some biscuits before x factor results!

Trikken · 11/10/2009 19:26

Ive been having that poo/contraction confusion as well. twingy too.

had a good day seeing the in-laws, mil was happy as she got to feel the baby kicking today for the first time, as every time she has tried to feel her kick she has stopped, little minx.

Right think im off to bed now as am shattered, has been a long day.

hope everyone who is feeling ill feels better soon x

hobnob57 · 11/10/2009 19:59

Hmmm Erika I think I chucked out the driver CD for my MP3 player during the summer in my clear-out so my laptop doesn't acknowledge the fact that it's plugged in so I'll have to listen to the hypnotherapy CDs on full audio through the laptop .

I'll schedule it in for DD's nap times next week {smile].

Speaking of which, she has been developing this weird pustular rash over the past few days. It all started with one spot on her shin, and now there are ones cropping up on her foot, bum, back of neck, nose and scalp. She hsa a wee temp tonight. I don't think it's chicken pox (I'm ok if it is so no panic there) and it looks like molluscum contagiosum from Google pics but it shouldn't have the temp to go with it. I hope for her sake it's not as 12-18 months of nasty spots is not a nice prospect! Will try to fit GP in to my busy schedule of dentist, taxi driver, and general paperwork and admin tomorrow.

hobnob57 · 11/10/2009 20:04

scarlotti hope you have a good night's sleep tonight - you sound like you need it!

Laugs · 11/10/2009 20:23

scarlotti you sound like you're having a really rough time. Hope your body calms down and stops playing tricks on you.

ninja That must have been scary having to go to hospital with BH. Glad they've stopped now. I love the image of us having a chat over the garden wall as we hang out our washing. No garden here either, so we'll have to chat, hair in rollers, on the front step, while we are scrubbing it down (great position for the babies that need turning too ). Or perhaps more like this in our current states.
Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I am definitely not ready for this baby to arrive. I am fed up of pregnancy, but still have more than 6 weeks left before the due date, so I'll be having a little word with it to stay put for the time being. It's really frustrating me not being able to do things though. Went for a day out with DH and DD today and I had to keep sitting down all the time and getting lots of BH. My head is still up for normal life, but my body is not. I don't know what to do with myself, I go mad if I stay in.

weston last time I went to Birmingham, Krispy Kreme in Selfridges was our first port of call. Yum! You've made me very jealous. Glad you enjoyed your night away.

lissy your DP sounds like he was very sweet last night . Mine is out tonight with his friend who is getting married on Saturday. The friend is not having a stag do, so I'm guessing this might be it...

Laugs · 11/10/2009 21:23

Oh, meant to share a piece of advice I was given yesterday - take drinks with straws with you to the hospital.

The Active Birth leader reckons she'd only worked out by her third birth that she spent the whole end of the first phase of labour needing a drink, but was incapable of actually asking for one or holding a cup to drink it. By baby 3, she realised that if her birthing partner could just hold the cup near her and she could suck it through a straw, it would all be ok.

Another revelation: bra extenders. If anyone else is like me and hasn't bothered to buy new bras for pregnancy, they are a godsend! Apparently your rib cage expands by 1.5" (on either side?) during pregnancy, which explains why I couldn't breathe as soon as I got dressed in the morning.

Comma2 · 11/10/2009 22:17

Oh laugs, good straw idea! unfortunately i wasn't allowed anything to drink, they poke an IV nto you right away, in case of emergenc csection....not great. I had forgotten that.....

Today is one of this days when I just cannot stay hydrated. The thought of water makes me sick...have been drinking raspberry trea and OJ, but got diarrhea from it I think. Ugh. Oh well.

I am sorry to nor respond to more of you lovely ladies, always have somehting to say when I read through, but pregnancy brain doesn't allow me retain information lo*ng enough.

ErikaMaye · 11/10/2009 22:48

Weston glad you had a good night, though am SO jealous of the Krispy Kremes!! I even considered going up to London the other week just to get some

Ideeanna we?ve decided on Bryn, though was between that and Harvey at one point. Girls, we were going to go for Evelyn (Evie for short) or Lavinia. Have you got a baby name book? Sometimes its helpful to just browse through. For what its worth, I like Caspar, though would be worried about teasing! For sleepsuits, George at Asda are pretty fab

Lissy LOL am doing totally the same thing here!!! Had a few contractions earlier, and was getting all excited, but turned out to be nothing? And same with the trips to the bathroom. Have heard all this stuff about your bowels emptying themselves in preparation for labour. No luck so far!!

Becky 11lb 10oz?!? crosses legs firmly Congratulations to her!!

Scarlotti that?s exactly how I?ve been feeling today!!! Maybe it?s a South East thing?! Feel better soon. X

Hobnob oh no!! I can redo you a copy or send you the tracks individually if that?s any use..? Hope your DD feels better soon.

Laugs have been taking my bra off as its been too tight Though ordered one in that fab sale Pavlov posted about the other week, its arriving next week, can?t WAIT!!!

So yes, some contractions earlier, and just as I was getting excited, and started timing and writing them down, they stopped. I was truly sulking My ME is flaring up because of the change in temperature, the SPD is getting worse, and general pregnancy aches are doing my nut in. Think DP was really hoping he?d arrive today as well. Ah well.

Have been wondering though ? from today?s experience, and my scare the other week, I really don?t know if I?m going to have the energy to push. Five hours of contractions the other week and I could hardly walk afterwards I was so tired, and they weren?t even that strong. Today they were going on and off for a few hours, and I had to sleep to recover. Really thinking I might have to go for an elective because of the ME Midwife is coming on Tuesday, and she did mention it a while a go. Will discuss it with her.

May I just say how wonderful my DP is? He?s taken the best of care of me, always, but is being especially tender and kind to me recently. Corny as it may sound, I really do feel very blessed to have him. Sorry but had to share it with someone, and you lot can understand the hormonal outbursts going on

Ninjacat hope you and DS managed to get some sleep and that he's feeling better.

Anyone else feel like everyone wants a piece of them? Between DH, DD, the baby and my own back-ache I've had about 3-4 hours sleep. Fed up.

erika It's a good idea to talk to the midwife about how your ME will impact on labour (or perhaps to someone who knows more about ME, if your midwife doesn't seem to). Though the contractions you've been having are real contractions, they don't really give you an impression of what active labour is like. I know that for myself, the energy reserves I found in labour were unreal and I was capable of far more than I could have imagined. I'm not sure how/ if this would differ with you having ME though.

Comma is that the case with everyone, that you have to have an IV? Strange! I have been really thirsty too. Can you have water with a tiny bit of squash in it? Or ice?

Oh, my friend told me she had lucozade in labour and it was the Best Thing Ever, but that some hospitals don't like you to have it... anyone know anything about this?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/10/2009 08:25

erica do not worry about pushing. Firstly, it is amazing where you find strength from that you did not know you had, and secondly, if for some reason you need a c-section, thats really no biggy. I was talking with a frend yesterday who is due in 4 weeks too and her baby is still in breech. She said she is not happy about the prospect of a c-section, but she would rather that than the potential risks delivering a breech baby would bring. So just remind yourself, you just have to do whatever it takes to get your baby here safely, if that is pushing, great, if it is a c-section, so be it.

ninja good luck today at court hope he turns up and stops messing your DS around and that you get the results you want for DS.

ideanna I have stopped talking about baby names, apart from a thread here! People all have opinions about the names we have, and not all of them are pleasant. I wish people would keep their own negative views to themselves to be honest, as not everyone will like the names we have picked, and its just another pressure to worry that on top of parenthood we might lumber our children with a name that might be wrong. You have to go with the name you and your dp feel happy with. So, and we have decided it will be our choice and we want no other input if it cannot be 'oh they are nice choices, i think xxx is my favourite' . And FWIW, i think Casper is fab. Did not make me think of the ghost until you mentioned it and as you said, its something that will be long forgotten about by the time he is at school. And, you can think of links to so many names, or negative nicknames, or rude jokes. Can't rule them all out!

Oh, and we had a friend who has just given birth in the last few weeks, her DP said we could not call our boy one of the names, as they had wanted it if it was a boy, and so they will likely use it for their next child if it is a boy WTF? It was the boy name for DD, but she was a DD, so technically if we are going to be possessive about it, its our name anyway and secondly, can you really claim a name for a non-existent child who may or may not exist in 2-3 years time, and may or may not be a boy, and they may or may not like it then? (it was only one of 3 they liked, not the name). methinks not!

beepbeep · 12/10/2009 08:26

Was up at 6.30 - everyone else in the house asleep for once!! DS woke at 7.05, DD at 7.30 and DH at 8 AND DD was only up once in the night!! Woke up with horrible stomach cramps again, fed up of dodgy tum!

Laugs - haven't heard of people not being allowed Lucozade, but have taken straws boths labours -def good idea -they are packed already this time!! Makes having a drink so much easier as someone else can holdit for you.

Erika - agree with LAugs that the energy you find in labour is amazing - i'm always in wonder at what your body can do when it needs to. BUT there is absolutely nothing wrong with a CS and if you are really worried, maybe it would be the best option for you. Def speak with your midwife about it and if necessary see if you and MW can meet with someone who has more understanding of ME and discuss how to go forward between you all.

Hope everyone has a good Monday x

Laugs · 12/10/2009 09:00

Does anyone want to come and mind a beautiful 3 year-old for the day while I go back to bed?
She is lovely, honestly.
No trouble at all.

Please?

helips · 12/10/2009 09:06

Morning everyone,

My back is still really bad this morning, am really ed up as it meant we couldn't go out with friends this weekend and I haven't got anything done that I wanted to for the baby. Am going to the Chiropractor this afternoon so hopefully he will sort it out. It is so difficult looking after ds when I can barely walk. Also, he woke at 4am this morning absolutely soaking wet. This is the 3rd time in a week that he has woken up wet and I don't understand why. Ive put him in the next size up nappy but hasn't made a difference, am wondering if excess wee is part of teething? Either that or he is playing with his willy in his sleep and the wee is coming out the top and sides, boys!

ninja hope your ds feels better soon.

ideeanna I too think Caspar is a lovely name, would have likes it for ds but dh veetoed it. Love Cass for short too. Pavlov can't believe the cheek of your friends and the name, you should so use it for your ds to piss them off

Hope everyone feeling rough starts to feel better soon, this pregnancy malarky is hard work!

Oh, just realised its Monday! Shall I begin....

scarlotti · 12/10/2009 09:10

Morning all

Had a much better night last night, only woke once I think and it wasn't in pain so feeling much brighter today. Thanks for all the concern, feel a bit of a fraud really as am never ill normally and certainly don't have funny turns as a rule.
Think am going to have to give my body a good stern talking to and get it back to responding properly!!
More funny tum this morning with no pain killers in sight so maybe I am on the clear out stage - can it carry on for a few weeks?

erika can understand your concerns re labour as have felt that way for the last few days being quite ill. Was so worried it would start as even the thought of finding enough energy made me want to cry.
I will echo the other mums here though - when it does start, some sort of survival instinct does kick in and get you through it. Also remember that you can have plenty of pain relieft to help whilst still being on course for a vaginal delivery. I had pethidine with DD when I was your age and it was wondrous. Made me feel so light and floaty that labour felt almost effortless. Tbh, even the gas and air last time with DS helped a huge amount for the pain but not the effortless side
Also, if your pushing stage does take a little while then you're not pushing for the whole of that. It's a push, then rest, then push again sort of pattern. The mw will wait until Bryn is quite low down before she suggests you push too which helps, less of the birth canal to push him through then.

So, today is a new day with energy and the sore ear leaves me partially deaf so unable to hear children or husbands calling me from other rooms, so there is a silver lining with everything
Going to draw up my contact calendar for DH and DD today so they know who to call and when. Bag is pretty much now packed so going to try and finish off some of those little sorting jobs I'd hoped to get through over the next week or so.
Do you think a bit of enforced nesting can bring the whole show a little closer?!

scarlotti · 12/10/2009 09:13

helips x-posts. Sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish. My osteopath sorted my back and spd right out so hope yours does the same today.
Re your ds - do you put his nappy on with him pointing down? We used to get leaks if he wasn't.

Laugs hope you start to feel brighter soon, would gladly help if I was nearer.

Tamlin · 12/10/2009 09:14

Gosh, I couldn't get on all weekend as we had relatives camped out in my study, and now I will never ever catch up. I've been having unpleasant low-down cramps all weekend, but they go away when I go to sleep at night - I'd get excited, except I suspect that it's just going to go on and on due to this baby being bloody posterior all the time. (Hi, futile prodromal labour!) I still had one of my relatives - an A and E nurse - eyeing me up with speculative looks every time I stopped walking to puff and pant, though. He has enjoyed delivering three babies as a paramedic in the past; wanted to shout 'Stop looking at me like that, you are NOT delivering this one!'

DS decided to sleep in this morning until 7.45 am, out of the blue. Today I adore him. Also, he left me alone for the half an hour in the bathroom I needed to try and tidy the wild undergrowth before my midwife appointment.

Ninja sorry you had to go through the hospital thing! are you better? how scary...
good luck in court too..fingers and toes crossed.

scarlotti hope you're on the mend too. Its so rough at the this stage.. I was not ill at tall with DD but have been sick for a month and they say that the last trimester is tricky in terms of catching colds and infections..Take care

Laugs 3 year old eh?? I would but am in Geneva!..anyway I think DD will have something to say about it!.. I bought her a doll this weekend with bottle and nappy, to get her accustomed to me holding something and for her to used to caring and being gentle...do you think it will make a diff??????

Pavlov your friend is mad...names don't "belong" to anyone..we are quite happy naming our child that a friend has chosen for theirs. and Vice versa..I would be flattered. DD is Beatrice and I think its awesome. So there.

As for a name for bump DD have no idea..am totally stuffed..

Also dodgy tummy here..was up for ages last night with bad belly...digestion is going mad like you all..

southernbelle77 · 12/10/2009 09:30

Glad you're feeling better this morning scarlotti. I'm liking the not being able to hear other people thing - think I might start having selective hearing like DD and DH seem to have

Ninja I hope your ds is ok. And I hope today goes ok for you too.

Erika - talk to your midwife and see what she says. You need to do what is right for you and your body. You will get through it.

Helips Sorry you're back is so bad. Not sure what to suggest with regard to ds, sorry.

I'm not having a good day. I slept really badly again (not sure i can remember what sleeping well feels like) and keep getting stressed and bursting into tears at everything as I'm so tired. DH wants me to talk to the midwife about it which I guess is a good idea as it's not fair on dd and dh that I'm so miserable. I'm also starting to feel really detached from this pregnancy as I'm in so much pain. It makes me feel really horrible to say that and even worse to feel it. I just want it over now.
