Doing well lemontop! Feeding loads at night and putting on weight sounds good to me. Like helips I struggled for six weeks both times, then when it clicked, it was brilliant.

Thanks Tamlin for the home visit suggestion (a couple of days ago), I don't like to bother the vicar, not being ill or anything, but perhaps I could ask for just one visit.

helips - I'm just Not Thinking about what it'll be like when sprog arrives. Head in the sand except for choosing nice baby things on the internet. I always find the first six weeks tough though so I just don't want to think about it.

LissyGlitter · 10/10/2009 20:56

I am going mad for this baby to get here, I am so impatient in general life, and I was like this at this point with DD. Luckily she came at 36 weeks, by then I was desperate to have her! Only problem is, I keep thinking of 36 weeks as my "due date" so if I go after that, I will be really annoyed! I'm kind of glad that I'm having a section, at least I won't be late. I am NOT good at being pregnant. I am not one of these women floating around, glowing. I am generally stomping about, bumping into things and swearing, or stuffing my mouth with cake.

Do blokes get the nesting instinct? DP is cooking like a man possessed and filling the freezer. He is also moving furniture around in a way that seems to make no difference, but is apparently vital to the smooth running of the household. Bless him Last night he snuggled up to me in bed and put his hands on my belly and told me how well I am doing and that there's not long to go and it'll all be fine. Just what I needed

scarlotti · 10/10/2009 22:39

Hi all

Busy chatting as ever

Feeling a little better today, called the emergency doc and they have prescribed antibiotic drops for my ear which seems to be helping. Last night was awful as I was awake and in pain for most of it so today has been a restful one.
Had a bit of a funny turn earlier in the afternoon and DH had to come and help me up to bed. Think it was the combination of pain killers, ear infection, virus etc. but got overwhelmingly hot and had to strip off whilst on the downstairs loo!! Reminded me of when I'd got to hospital with DS last time - made me realise I need to shift this before attempting to bring a baby into the world!

Perspective check for me - if this one arrives like his sister then he'll be born on Monday

Went to see my osteo last week and the spd has been so much better since which is brilliant.

DD will be looking after DS whilst we head to hospital (she's 15) and is happy to be here at home alone with him. I will have a list of numbers for people she can call if she needs and my Mum will head on over but is 5 hours away.
My labours are very quick (5.5 then 3.5) so am just hoping to get to the hospital in time really!
erika my DD was born when I was 19 and she was 5.5 hrs from first contraction to birth, with waters going 5 hours before so it doesn't always follow that they're long if you're young

Right, off to bed to dose up some more. Hopefully manage to catch up more with you all tomorrow.

Oh, and the debate on a name for this poor chap continues ...

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/10/2009 22:49

lemon Sounds like you are doing a fab job. Very normal for them to sleep in reverse, and rather tiring! I also remember the poo/change/feed/poo scenario in the middle of the night - luckily DD did not pee over me and I am not sure I am looking forward to that part of having a boy Maybe i'll let DH do the night nappies .

ideanna welcome back

erica I tell you what will be shutting Mr old B of a builder up - receiving a court counter claim for £19k through the post this week. That will take the smile of his face .

So, this whole knocking of the cervix - anyone getting hit down there so hard it also hurts externally? This baby is head down, but can certainly head butt hard!

And for some reason, by the end of this evening, my face has lost all its colour, it has gone grey/pale and my eyes are dark grey/ashen around the sockets, I look made up for halloween - very odd, I look sick Feel ok though. Well, feel pregnant, tired and

ErikaMaye · 11/10/2009 05:41

Southernbelle I hope you feel better soon.

Helips You will be sharing the cheesecake right?! Oh damn I want cheesecake now... We have one in the fridge for lunch at a friends tomorrow. But it looks so yummy!!!

Scarlotti I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a similar experience I think!!

Pavlov Ohhh do let us know how that goes down, won't you?! And yes - babys head keeps wacking my cervix. Ouch.

I can't get back to sleep... Ahhhh...

southernbelle77 · 11/10/2009 07:54

Morning!

Hope you managed to get back to sleep Erika. Alas, I've been up since 5.20am when dd got up and hasn't been back to sleep since. Please tell me how I'm going to cope with a baby being awake half the night and a 5 yr old dd who sleeps dreadfully and wakes up so early every morning! I'm going to give dh another hour (if I can handle it) and then go back to bed and he can get up!

Thanks for the cheesecake helips! I can almost feel the mouthwatering taste in my mouth

Oh pavlov I keep getting that feeling too. Every so often I yelp in pain with it! Feels like my pelvis is going to snap in half!

Hope you are starting to feel a bit better scarlotti and the antibiotics have kicked in.

I am getting really impatient for baby to arrive too Lissy! Did have a little chat with her last night and told her if she wanted to come soon I would be grateful as the pain is just getting too much!!

Not sure what today holds. DD wants to go on a picnic so if the weather is nice I'm hoping that dh will take her and I can have some more rest! Am feeling a little guilty because, as dh pointed out last night, he has not had any time to himself for ages! I'm on my own all day while dd is at school and then he often takes her out at the weekend too. I am just too tired to do anything!!

beepbeep · 11/10/2009 08:17

Morning all! Ended up with DD sleeping with me last night & DH slept in her bed, don't think any of us got a decent night's sleep - apart from DS who snored all night!

Meant to be swimming this morning, but DS has a bit of a cold, so think it'll just be DH & DD - quite glad cause can't be arsed to try and see things 'down below' in order to tidy up!!

Well got the nursery put back togeher last night, curtains ironed and hung again, before DD was born we spent quite a lot on doing out the nursery in Mamas & Papas winnie the pooh (cream & neutral), glad we did case it's lasted through to thisone and still looks good, and there's no way we'd have the money to spend now - amazing how children can drain your bank account isn't it?!

Also got rest of the walls finished in lounge and half the woodwork done - rest will have to wait for day in the week when DD is at preschool.

Pavlov - I sometimes feel like the baby is trying to poke it's hand out through my cervix - it can really hurt, is this what you mean? Baby is head down but going i andout of being engaged, DD was born hand first (superwoman like!) so I wasn't sure if this one was heading same way.

Bloomin iron tablets are making me feel sick and giving me dicky tummy, seem to be constantly at the toilet (TMI!!). Doc called last week to say results from bloods should my iron had gone up but not by much, had been pretty slack and just taking 1 tablet a day, so now back to 2 and feeling crappy. See MW this week sowill speak to her about liquid form I think - pharmacy weren't happy giving me it - said it wouldn't increase my iron levels and contains alcohol - it was Floradix (sp?) we were looking at - anyone else on this? He told me that MW can prescribe pure liquid iron which would be better and quickly absorbed by body.

Ninjacat · 11/10/2009 09:05

Good morning. It's a shame we can't put the washing out whilst on mums net. I often feel like I'm leaning over the virtual garden fence on here (which is nice because I don't have a garden or a fence - front door opens on to large city centre park though so don't feel too sorry for me)

Spent a couple of hours in delivery suite last night with braxton hicks (or branston pickles as dp affectionately calls them) and neurosis. All is fine, baby is not even engaged but bump is measuring 39wks . I am 34wks exactly. I don't really know what the consequences are for that but have been booked in for a growth scan next week. My ds was 2wks late. will they let you go over if you are carrying a monster baby? I really don't want to be induced .

So court date is tomorrow. We have representation this time (although Pav would be grateful if you could keep your lip gloss on stand by). Had a call on Friday from my solicitor to say that ds's dad wants to postpone as he has to work! I have said no. The boy has been terrified about going to cafcass and if we put it off now it will be at least December until he sees them and I can't leave him worrying until then - not to mention I want this sorted before the baby arrives for ds's and our sakes.
Will let you know what happens but at the moment we don't even know if his dad will turn up or if he will put in an application to the court for adjournment? Grrr it's all bloody game playing and I'm just not interested. Ds deserves better.

Hope everyone is well.

Lemontop it's lovely to hear your news. You will be a wise sage by the time our lo's are all here.

Erika I had a baby at 19. Baby was back to back so for me it was a long labour but it's ok because things start slowly and build up. You have time to get your head around what's happening and hopefully you will get plenty of pampering. Just remember your not doing it alone, there is a little baby there with you who is preparing for the most incredible moment of his life and you'll be doing this together. So trust your body, trust your baby and if you need help instruct dp to make sure the medics explain to you exactly what they are doing and why. Remember "your body, your rules".

skorpion · 11/10/2009 09:48

Morning All! Goodness, another thread almost full!!

ninja what an image - I hope you're wearing a pinny and have rollers in your hair. I'm getting into a weekly baking habbit - well, it's what mums do, isn't it?

I really hope tomorrow goes well for you - the court must surely see that your son mustn't be used as a pawn in his father's little games? Good luck, will be thinking of you.

My cousin came back from Poland with a huge bag full of wee clothes from my sister - very exciting, don't have to buy anything else, as I already have some new vests and socks. Well, a couple of hats and cardies and the LO is kitted out.

Also dh's colleague has just offered us masses of stuff he got for his son, now 2 years old - A pram, a carseat and other bits and pieces. Would be wonderful to have it and I would suddenly go from having nowt to be almost there!

33 weeks today and not fed up at all yet. Only four days left at work and the fun begins then.

Enjoy your Sunday!

pinkfizzle · 11/10/2009 10:18

i'm exhausted by this pregnancy malarchy so am just waving hi to everyone and congrats to lemontop!

Good luck everyone

I hope everyone's bags are packed, i packed mine and then unpacked it and am now too tired to repack it.

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/10/2009 11:22

Hello everyone! I've just phoned my mum who told me she's just getting over swine flu and didn't want to tell me because I'd come rushing around to help her and get it myself. I last spoke to her on Tuesday when she said she felt a bit rough and thought she had a cold coming. I feel bad now because I didn't ring her again until today. She said she's been fine because she had her friend do her shopping for her and my sister walk the dog but given that I am preggers didn't want me to come over, which I would have done!!!!

Ninjacat I hope you are ok. That must have been quite scary for you. BHs can be quite painful though, can't they? I think they can induce you if you are carrying a larger baby. A friend of mine has had 11lb / 12lb babies in the past and is overdue with her fourth but they are waiting until 9 days over before they induce (day after tomorrow). They think this one is at least an 11lb-er.

I'm seriously exhuasted today. I can't even muster up the energy to dust the house. DH has sweetly offered to do the hoovering and the bathrooms for me. I'm glad because I just want to lie and sit today.

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/10/2009 11:32

Morning all. I am exahausted today. skorpion I am of your lack of fed upness! I feel so so so tired its unbeleivable! I am presuming this is in prep for the next few years ahead with 2 and all. I have been told by so many people that the jump from 1-2 is the hardest .

I am also feeling emotional. Just been listening to Sinead Oconnor who I have not listened to for ages. I for some reason listened to her last pg too and had forgotten all about it, but she was on my ipod and I was listening to it on the docking stereo thing in the kitchen while tidying/cooking brekky and I cried at 'emperor's new clothes'. There is section in there about pregnancy/motherhood and it is really poignant and I just burst into tears luckily i was in the room on my own!

if I treated you mean
I really didn't mean to
but you know how it is
and how a pregnancy can change you

I see plenty of clothes that I like
but I won't go anywhere nice for a while
all I want to do is just sit here
and write it all down and rest for a while
I can't bear to be in another city
one where you are not
I would return to nothing without you
if I'm your girlfriend of not

maybe I was mean
but I really don't think so
you asked if I'm scared
and I said so

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/10/2009 11:35

ninja I have the lipgloss at the ready, for both you and erica ! I really hope they don't adjourn for him to work. He needs to prioritise his son. I feel so annoyed for you and your ds. He clearly has no idea how this might be impacting on him.

BH resulting in hosp must have been scary for you, i have the odd twinge from time to time which makes me go and I then panic, but i don't think he is ready yet. Rest lots.

ErikaMaye · 11/10/2009 13:12

Southern try not to feel guilty - right now you need to rest up and take care of you and baby! Also its brilliant for your DH to spend some time with your DD one-on-one before the family is added to I hope you get some extra sleep today.

beepbeep I've been really lax about taking my iron tablets too The GP told me to take three a day, but midwife said one. So I've been taking one - when I remember. They make me feel really yucky, and my iron wasn't down that much. MW suggested them more to try and perk me up a bit than raise my levels... Got bloods again next week though, am in for a rollocking I hope they give you the liquid, if you find that easier.

Ninja thank you for your kind words I think I'm more worried because of my ME - I don't want to get too tired and have to have an emergency CS. Anyway, I hope it goes very well tomorrow, we'll all be thinking of you I'm sure. x Oh and DP calls them "Branston Pickles" too!!! Glad you're home and well.

Skorpion fab news about the stuff from your sister and friend And am very jealous that you're not fed up yet!!!

Becky don't feel bad, you weren't to know, and you're so kind, your mum was probably right!! She's okay, you're both okay, so that's what matters.

Pavlov we'll have to co-ordinate lip glosses if it comes to that, we can't be clashing now, can we??

My back is killing me this morning. Though am feeling better mentally after deleting everyone that was causing me hassle on facebook last night!! Deleted 100 people...

Going round to a friends for lunch today - he offered to do a roast dinner drools So DP is having Quorn, and we're having steak. Oh my goodness, I can't wait Have been craving one all the way through pregnancy and have resisted because I don't normally like beef. Ohhh hurry up three o'clock!!!

Fruitpastels · 11/10/2009 14:41

Ideeanna I remember you as well. Welcome back

Southern Don't feel guilty. I'm finding it very difficult to be active with DS and visit the park and do exciting things together. DH has to take over when he's here and that's just the way it is. It won't be for too much longer now

I'm very bored with life at the moment. I have no energy for the shops, my house is pretty much tidy, I'm fed up with organising and then re-organising the kitchen cupboards! my nesting instinct has nothing else left to do in the house. I'm hoping this baby gets a move on!

Scarlotti Hope you are feeling better. I can't budge this cough and cold. I'm on antibiotics and waiting for them to kick in.

Erika Hope you had a lovely lunch - sounds yummy!

Well I'd better go and put the chicken in the oven. DH is back soon after 7 days away!

Fruitpastels · 11/10/2009 14:47

Ninja Sorry you had a bad night, must have really worried you. Hope you feel better today. The growth scan will be far more accurate than measuring your bump with the tape measure. Try not to worry and you'll know more when they scan you

weston · 11/10/2009 15:11

keep forgetting i don't have any work tomorrow and keep checking my work emails, a day of sleeping can't wait!

had a great 24 hours child free in brum in nice hotel - slept for 12 and ate for the other 12! krisp kremes..yum yum...is there is a sleep pattern here..still don't feel refreshed DD up at 1am telling me that we need to buy fruit and fibre...

katster37 · 11/10/2009 16:18

Hi everyone!

Scarlotti poor you, having to ring the em doctor - glad you are feeling a bit better though.

Ninja I hope you're OK and I hope they were nice to you at the hospital. I am also exactly 34 weeks and worrying that I am too small after MW measured me at 31, 32 and 33 weeks (did the measurement three times in three minutes). I am not entirely convinced the tape measure is all that accurate so hopefully it's a similar thing for you too. She also said the position the baby is in can hugely affect the fundal height. Did they say what position he/she was in?

My bump really hurts. Just had a lie down for 20 mins and feel like it has been stretched/squished or something. Am also desperately trying to stay on all fours to try and make him swivel out of his back-to-back position. Quite stressed about it. Grrrr.

Has anyone else got a DreamGenii pillow? Are they any good?

hobnob57 · 11/10/2009 16:35

Good afternoon - gosh we're all knackered today aren't we? Sorry to hear about the interrupted nights, especially ninja. Fingers crossed for the court proceedings to proceed.

I think now that I've stopped work, I'm sleeping less well. I'm definitely getting a nightly 4am wake-up call for no apparent reason. They say it's to prepare us, don't they? I'm utterly shattered now, so glad I stopped when I did. DH and I lolled our way through yesterday in an exhausted haze, so today we made ourselves go out for a walk in the woods with DD. My pelvis is really aching so I'm now lumbering around like an 80-year old, trying to attend to items on our List Of Important Stuff To Do in fits and starts when I get the energy. I'm pretty limited to filing and washing though! DH has been good though - painted the en suite ceiling again after 2.5 years of waiting and is now attaching the broadband cable to the wall so we don't keep tripping over it. I've (finally) washed the newborn baby stuff so I'm now in a position to pack my bag. I anticipate much indecision and procrastination to come. Don't know why it's so hard? I'm currently dithering on whether to bring the stuff downstairs and iron it. Current feeling is no: I never iron DD's stuff.

Lots of you sound pretty ready for these babies. I think I'm still in the 'nearly there' category. A bit of maternity leave feeling as uncomfortable as I do now (have been fine until recently) and I think I'll be there. I haven't had much cervix-trampolining action at all, but I remember it from last time. Baby is definitely lower but not that low. It's changed sides recently from LHS to RHS, which is the side DD preferred. Sitting on the sofa is now too uncomfy so I'll have to dig my ball out. I have a guilty secret: I won a MN competiton years ago which gave me a huge bean bag with a hole in the middle of it for bumps. It's great for those really swollen days, but my pelvis finds the suspension of bump a bit straining sometimes. I just remember, like ursigurke craving lying on my front last time and I can now! Pity - DD just loves sitting in the hole and won't let me near the thing until she goes to bed.

BeckyBendyLegs · 11/10/2009 17:17

Hobnob I am not ready yet...

I am sooo tired and feel sick with heart burn from lunch. I've had a cough for 3 weeks now and every time I cough the bile comes up. I'm feeling really sorry for myself today. Everything is an effort, even making the DSs a drink or finding the remote control, reading a book to DS2... Bad mother.

Sorry for being all me x a lot again. I feel so bad for moaning at DH because it feels like all I do is moan sometimes.

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/10/2009 17:27

hobnob not ready here either! physically, absolutely! but the house is not ready i have too much to do yet, 3 weeks, then maybe (that is when i am thinking he will arrive anyway, 5th november i have bet dh!)

ldeeanna · 11/10/2009 17:39

Thanks for the welcome back-and remembering me, quite touched!!!!!
Kaster Sorry to hear he is back to back but he has time to move!! Have you staryed taking raspberry leaf yet-might start next week!! Wont try hypno birth-too lazy!! Its like excercise dvds-never get seen twice!! Im just going to breathe and bathe in the bath! I say that now!! My friend just had a baby and she said take fruit pastels for dry mouth on G&A and energy food for after the birth as she didn't get enough food from hospital.
Well done Lemontop and Broodzilla and congratulations!!!
Ninja Have the hicks gone?!! Dont think i've had one yet-just the baby catapulting into my cervix-does it mean he/she is trying to escape-I hope not!! My pram hasn't arrived yet and im just not organised in general!!!
Everyone help!! I need to get clothes/sleepsuits for the hospital bag but all the clothes I have 2big! Where can I get warm cosy sleepsuits in a small enough size-in unisex colours!! They are all pink or blue!!
And also is anyone getting really upset about choosing a name? Im finding it so hard-I want something a bit different but I hate the shocked and bemused looks you get when you say your ideas!! I really like Casper for a boy but everyone says-ooh the friendly ghost!!!! That finished years ago so hopefully by the time he is at school it wont be mentioned!! Anyway it has a nice meaning-it was the name of one of the three kings who visited baby Jesus!!!!!And Casper the friendly ghost-when he turns into a boy in the film-he was a little looker!!! Sorry to go on!! What have you all got in the pipeline?!! Or have you already gone over that loads!!
Yuuuumm they are talking about mars bar cheesecake on come dine with me-and they didn't like it!!! They must be mad!!!

LissyGlitter · 11/10/2009 18:04

Is anyone else making every single thing they do into a symptom of impending labour?

Tired? Labour.
Energetic? Labour.
Hungry? Labour.
Not hungry? Labour.
Every single little twinge? Labour.

And so on. I have been convinced I am about to go into labour for about a week solid!

Although, saying that, I am feeling fluey and having loads of BH and did a massive poo...STOP IT LISSY YOU FOOL!!!

weston · 11/10/2009 18:07

LissyGlitter big poo is def a sign of labour
