Got a delivery from blooming marvellous and figleaves this morning, a new dress and some hot milk undies, feel very glam! Really must pack my bag soon and get the rest of ds' stuff down from loft. Keep putting it off for some reason, like I don't want to admit that the baby will be here soon. Can't believe how little time we all have left, scary, but exciting too!

Pavlov, in this case, I'd rather prefer following my mum and sister who were usually rather 40+ something (My mum had been induced when she got me, just being a week overdue).
katster, I'm having the cheap Argos ball as well. Was a little concerned at first as well but as sometimes my husband uses it as well, I think we are both safe...

ninja hear, hear! I'm hoping the weeks will start stretching a bit - so far the time's been like lightning! Have nothing ready!

Although we have just been given the lovliest cot by dh's aunt. Her daughter slept in it good 30 years ago but it's in a really good nick.

Just added 6 muslin squares to my list of things bought. So that's a cot, burp cloths, a sling, few random clothes and socks. And the breast pads. And I already have some tea tree oil.

erika I think it was you that mentioned a laundry bag for baby socks. What a good idea. In a brilliant flash of thrift genius - even if I do say so myself - I've decided to use a mesh bag that my sainsbury's pj's came in for that. Eh, eh? I'm on a roll!

Hi all, it's been an age since I posted as my life has been remarkably dull, but just seen the midwife and my blood pressure and swollen hands mean that I get to see her every day for the next week

Must find out more about preclampsia, how to spell it would be a good start .

It's a bit odd as last week we were talking about the possibility of a home birth whereas now I think that might be out of the window.

laundry bags are good for socks. As long as you do not lose the laundry bags I bought 3, in order to be organised, 2 small mesh ones for DDs undies and socks and one large one for my bras and delicates. All that happens is that I lose them when I need them

fairybex i hope its not pre-eclampsia. Fingers crossed you get your home birth!

Report
skorpion · 28/09/2009 16:01

pavlov ha ha, yes, well at least the intention is there... Anyway, it probably is necessary to sacrifice the odd sock to the laundry gods, isn't it?

fairybex I hope you'll get your home birth.

Just adding myself on. Can anyone else actually feel when their skin is stretching? I feel mine pulling really tight then about 2 days later I get a new set of horrible purple stretch marks. My stomach resembles a tub of raspberry ripple ice cream. I really hope they fade. Am using cream but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. I knew I'd get them as I got them very badly when going through puberty and had massive purple lines across my back. My teachers used to think I was getting beaten at home!

Thanks Becks for the new thread. It only feels like the other day I started the last one. Love the title

Baby still seems to be in the same breech position. I see the midwife in a couple of days and guessing I'll be sent off for a scan next week. I'm having to think this baby may arrive before November if I get booked for a CS. I've got a move on with my hospital bag. Primark have got loads of PJ's with button down tops so I treated myself to nice pair and new dressing gown.

Sorry I can't remember who recommended the latching device. Looks a like a good buy as I was so engorged when my milk came through and this made breastfeeding even harder for me. I looked like Jordan for a few days and was liking the new look, speaking as a rather small chested women normally.

Also, hadn't heard of the Lanasol cream until recently so bought some of that, rather expensive at £9.99 or have I been ripped off!?! Scarlotti The savoy leaves, I used them with DS and it did help, but I've heard they should be soaked in water, I didn't try this at the time, not sure if this is true - anyone?

lemontop yes, me too. I haven't noticed any marks yet, but there definitely is tightness. I use BioOil at bedtime and a moisturise in the morning after shower. My skin itches, too. I do have stretch marks on my boobs, though, but they have been there for ages - Page 3 material they ain't!

As this is my first the world of nipple cream is a bit of a mystery to be but... I've had one sister swear by Lansinoh, and another who never needed it but insisted on having some in the house as so many people she knew used it so I'm following in their footsteps.

I think 9.99 is the standard price - I've not been able to find it any cheaper, especially when taking p&p into account for some online stores.

I've had colleagues who have used savoy leaves but I love eating savoy cabbage and don't really want to start associating it with sore boobs

Hi all, does only seem like yesterday since the last thread was started!

feeling a bit coldy with achy muscles today, hoping the aches will go away as really want to make crumble for later. dont think me playing wii resort yesterday helped the muscles, altho didnt do much on it, mainly was marvelling at dh and the in-laws sword-fighting each other and trying to out-do themselves at archery.

kyte, I think clothes is about the only thing you cant get online from tesco. (tried looking myself a while ago)

Just adding myself on to the countdown.

Sorry I haven't caught up yet. Been shopping today - properly, on my own, and am shattered and hot and got too tired to make it through my list . Now I remember why I never go!

Managed to get a waterfall cardi to keep me warm in all these summer matty tops I bought , some nappies, an ear thermometer (next door neighbour usually supplies, but she is moving!), etc.

But I FORGOT to get Next babygros with the scratchmitt bits & muslins. I can't be arsed with another trip so will have to enlist help I think!

LO has been moving around a lot and settling in very awkward positions which are NOT head down as far as I can tell. It's getting most uncomfortable and I'm a bit as bump has been behaving so well up to this point!

2 weeks of work left..... aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Report
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 28/09/2009 18:12

Cabbage leaves - yes, MUST be savoy, and must be soaked in cold water to work well. Lansinoh works well too, worth the money imo.

Stretch marks can be reduced by increasing water intake and increasing protein intake, as its to do with the elasticity of the skin, so I was told. Mostly genetic, but can be eased by strengthening the make up of the skin. Its not the surface of the skin its deep down, so while the lotion helps to ease the discomfort, it won't do anything to help the actual marks themselves. I did not get them at all last pg, then for some reason I got a good few across my back/sides while I was breastfeeding .

I cannot beleive still how organised every one is, with the exception of perhaps one other person . I have bought much more than I had this time last week - i now have pushchair/carseat, moses basket, cot, snow suit x 2, sleeping bags x 3, 6 x baby gros, 6 x sleepsuits, a couple of pretty things and a hat, tons of cotton wool, maternity pads, shower gel Getting there!

Whoever bought hotmilk bras from figleaves - how did you size up and do they fit ok?

Also - washable breastpads - any arecommendations? Couldn't find any in town today and the Tesco ones drove me nuts last time.
