skorpion was it you who had to reach a certain iron level to use the birthing centre? Hope you get it sorted. I have switched from iron tablets to spatone - haven't been tested again, but I definitely feel better. You could also try eating loads of iron-rich food and remembering to combine it with vit c.

pavlov sounds like you had a lovely morning! Great to make a new friend too. I always wish stuff like that would happen to me, but I'm quite shy so don't really help myself.

erika I'm so glad you're feeling better. Hope you have a lovely evening with your DP (and I wouldn't feel remotely guilty about him carrying your bags: you're carrying his child! )

I've been ALL over town today looking for baby clothes and all I've come home with is a cardi. I'm finding it so hard as we don't know the sex and everything suitable looks a bit bland. I think a trip to hell on earth the MetroCentre is in order as they have loads more baby shops. Just have to build myself up to it!

It sounds like the consensus on heels is a resounding no! I can't afford a new dress (esp for only one occasion), so I'm going to wear a black jersey maternity dress, which is fairly casual. I had been planning to dress it up with heels, but I'll have to see if I can find some nice, cheap ballet pumps to go with it.

DH and I are going out tonight for our 5 year 'getting together' anniversary. He is surprising me with the destination, but what I really had to ask was if he'd be back in time for me to have a nap first. Oh, the romance

mumsiebumsie · 02/10/2009 15:45

Oh wow!!

Lemontop that's amazing! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! Wishing you and baby Isaac all the very best. Please keep posting so we can hear how you get on!

Laugs · 02/10/2009 15:45

OH MY GOD! - LEMONTOP!!

I knew you were going to be first! I really had a feeling the other day and didn't know if I should say or not.

How lovely and exciting! Are you starting a postnatal thread??

Give Baby Isaac Lemontop a big kiss from me xxx

ps hope the labour and everything was ok? Or is that just a forgotten memory now you have a beautiful baby to look at??

Trikken · 02/10/2009 15:47

see all that cooking was nesting eh Lemontop. who else has been stocking the freezer up good and proper? you could be next!

ErikaMaye · 02/10/2009 15:47

Kyte may I once again advocate for the FridayAd? Last week on one near me (we're right in the middle of two) they had a Phil and Teds in good condition for £100 I think, might have even been less.

Laugs if you want something more colourful to wear I have my maternity dress that I've worn twice that you're more than welcome to borrow And George in Asda have some fab pumps in at the moment. Have a great time tonight!!

I want Starbucks

mumsiebumsie · 02/10/2009 15:52

Just looked back at what Lemontop posted on Tuesday when she was having what she thought were Braxton Hicks. So cool....

The nesting fever had really caught her so ladies watch out for that!

Trikken · 02/10/2009 15:54

i myself made six meals last night, but i have a feeling baby girl will be late.

mumsiebumsie · 02/10/2009 15:54

Sorry Trikken - see you beat me to it!

ErikaMaye · 02/10/2009 15:56

I have Halloween stuck in my head for some reason, have nearly said it several times when people ask for my EDD. Maybe its a sign?? I really have no idea when he's going to show up...

Ninjacat · 02/10/2009 15:56

Lemontop WOW. WOW. WOW A September baby on a November thread. I think our postnatal thread will have to have an alternative theme to the month! "Lovely Lady Lemontop Leads The Way As The First To Pop" or some such?
Hope all is well with you and Isaac. Lots and lots of good wishes coming your way across the eather xxx

Trikken · 02/10/2009 15:57

lol thats fine mumsiebumsie, its a good point. I am really excited now.

Trikken · 02/10/2009 15:59

ooh love that thread name Ninja we so have to use that.

mumsiebumsie · 02/10/2009 16:00

Good point Ninjacat baby was born in September. Didn't think of that...amazing.

Really like the title for the postnatal thread too.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 16:02

Lemontop oh wow! I am all tearful I feel so excited for you! Welcome to baby Isaac and I am so glad he is doing well I bet you cannot wait to have him home. Well done you and send us piccies as soon as you can. Hope the birth was as ok as it could be. congratulations, i am very proud of you and I don't even really know you

Laugs · 02/10/2009 16:03

This is so exciting isn't it? I feel quite in shock and am just sitting grinning at my laptop.

lemontop I've also remembered that doesn't gestational diabetes normally disappear as soon as you give birth? So you can treat yourself to lots of donuts, cakes and all the things the rest of us have been banging on about for weeks!
Hope you are well in yourself and enjoying the first few days of being a Mummy!

ErikaMaye · 02/10/2009 16:04

Ohhh Ninja like that, definately

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 16:07

laugs I am the same. I am not so much shy when I know someone, in fact, some people say I am a bit gobby but people I do not know, I do not put myself out there, feel a bit silly I guess. I am an introvert/extrovert, think its a Cancerian thing. But I decided, when she said 'its been lovely to meet you both, maybe we will bump into you again one day' that it was now or never and that all she could do was say no, or ignore my texts! So I said, 'why don't we swap numbers and if we are heading this way again we can hook up with the children, seeing as they get on so well' and she was very enthusiastic to meet, big smile, like she had wanted to ask but was not sure. DH was amazed/pleased as he thinks I am a recluse! I had to do it. DD only knows boys really, at least who are similar age to her, and she so needs socialising as she is a very friendly happy little girl. She does not need to learn by social bad habits

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 16:31

erica - 'It is an offence under Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 and Section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988
·to harass debtors with a view to obtaining payment including the issue of letters which convey a threat or false information with intent to cause distress or anxiety'.

. i have emailed you how we should proceed.

ErikaMaye · 02/10/2009 16:32

Ohhh Pavlov I could kiss you right now !!!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 16:35

There are several other sections which might apply, which could result in them being investigated as to whether they can hold a consumer credit licence and could result in prosecution!

I shall email you the link.

ursigurke · 02/10/2009 16:37

Congratulations lemontop and welcome Isaac! What a lovely surprise. I'm hoping you are both well and had a nice and good birth!
And we were all just concerned that you should get a dishwasher!
Suddenly all of today's other posts have disappeared from my mind. But I think, most of you are rather fine and will hopefully have a nice weekend with partner and family.

Had my 36 weeks appointment with the GP today. Everything is fine. The baby seems to have the back on the right side which is the second most common position and is not yet engaged but she thinks just about to do so.
And we got the keys for our house, will have a picknick there for dinner and finally make a list for tomorrows excursion to Ikea (we could only order a couple of things online)

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 16:54

ursi don't even bother with a list for Ikea. it won't work. You will still come out with a ton of crap, and probably not much on your list. At least that is what happens to us! I need a few things from there, but I am afraid to go for that reason!

ursigurke · 02/10/2009 17:05

Pavlov, we are moving from furnished to unfurnished, so we will definitely need that list. We have already been there to see what we want, I went back there on my own to check out one sofa that looked better on the homepage then the one we had chosen, and now we have to go there again because we could only order the bed, the sofa and a couple of bookshelves. All the rest like dining table, chairs, changing table (which perfectly matches with the two pieces of furniture we already have), TV- unit, coffee table, desk,... we will have to get tomorrow. As I do not want to waste my time anymore, I just try to be prepared as much as I can (but I agree, we will still bring back lots of nicelooking useless crap )

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 17:10

OMG you have been to ikea several times to check stuff out? that is impressive ursi I have spent hundreds before I even get up the stairs

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 17:11

I have seen a changing table there too which I am getting , and matches other stuff we have too!
