kyte ethical is no good when you have a craving. I would say, have a take out, if you are going to even consider compromising your ethical values, you must do it for a curry, not a tinned steak and ale pie

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/10/2009 17:30

I can't believe it Lemontop
You were the first of us to pop
From this list for November
The rest of us will always remember
How baby Isaac made his appearance first
The countdown is on, we're fit to burst!
Who will be next to go?
That is something, no-one can know

Feeling poetic today!

Congratulations Lemontop!

I second Pavlov!! You must order a curry Kyte!! Damn I want curry now... Once really will not hurt, trust me

Pavlov I would just like to publicly sing your praises for being so amazing

ErikaMaye · 02/10/2009 17:32

LOL Becky that's genius!!!

skorpion · 02/10/2009 17:33

ursi well done on the self-control in Ikea - I have never been there and not left with at least one mahoosive bag of stuff. In fact we're off to go there now!! I do love it, though.

laugs I'm so glad you told us that you're wearing a black dress. We're going to a wedding in two weeks time and all I have is a nice black dress, I really want to wear it as haven't done yet. Wasn't sure if OK for a wedding but am going to accessorise with old gold coloured things (shawl, jewellery).

Right, mackerel, was it? Off shopping!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 17:40

erica you read the email then? hehe!

kyte agree once will not hurt. In fact, it will be repaid a million times - think of it like this. You will be producing a child who will likely follow your own ethics and only eat ethical food. Thus, you need to do whatever it takes to keep baby happy now, so she or he will be able to continue your ethics! you see? It has to be so.

I would recommend a lamb bhuna, saag paneer, pilau rice, chapatti, pickles and popadum

becky great poem, you need to do it for all of us now

Trikken · 02/10/2009 17:43

fancy a korma now, even tho thats one of the things i froze up yesterday, and had for dinner too. ah well, i got a jacket potato on the go now.

LEMONTOP Congratulations to a brand new Mama! And WELCOME TO THE WORLD BABY ISAAC!

So, the cook-athon was in fact labour? WOW!
Can't wait for pictures (and a labour story!) when you have a spare moment, although I realize those might be hard to come by. Hope Baby Isaac gets to come home soon.

By the way, loooove Ninja's suggestion for the anti-natal thread!

Ursi I second Pavlov about going to Ikea with a list. May the force be with you.

Easyeggs Glad you've got a bit of respite from the court. Given the circumstances, I'd be very surprised for it to not go in your favour eventually, but I'm no expert. Hope you can now put it in a box and file it away mentally until next time!

Pavlov Glad to hear you had a good day, and well done you for swapping numbers. I always shy away from things like that, and then end up regretting it afterwards. And, YAY for the pregnant boobies! ;)

Nothing exciting to report here. I was disappointed to NOT wake up to contractions this morning, so I guess that's it for the "stop-start labour". (I should probably be grateful...) Instead, I got up to find that my hands and feet look like they've been inflated overnight. Bizarre. Can just about get my Crocs on. Showed DH when he got home from work and he got me to call the MW. They've brought forward my 36 week check-up so will pop over to the hospital tomorrow morning. Am I allowed to say I'm sick of this?

DH has promised to cook lasagna tonight, so all is not lost.

Trikken · 02/10/2009 17:48

yes absolutely

Ninjacat · 02/10/2009 17:52

I just made a fish pie (it is in the oven as we speak) for dp, ds and two of ds's mates.
That's after baking cookies all day with teenagers.
I now have a pineapple that needs using up so going to turn it into a cake.
Ah I can be domestic sometimes (I did go to fishmonger and greengrocer too)

katster37 · 02/10/2009 17:52

Oh my god!!!! Just checked in after insansely busy week and seen Lemontop's fantastic news!!!!!!!!! Wow!!! Congratulations, and I hope you and gorgeous Isaac are doing well I am literally beaming, how amazing!!! (Sorry - mad pregnant lady talking, obviously )

tigger32 · 02/10/2009 17:56

Wow I go out for a day and baby arrives!!!

congratulations lemontop and a huge welcome to baby Isaac (love the name) I hope you are both doing well and that you can bring him home soon

BBL loving the poem

ursi great news about your house

erika I'm so pleased that pav is able to help you out, fingers crossed you can get things sorted now!

Well Dh went out an hour ago on a secret mission with the boys Its my birthday tomorrow, so I'm guessing they've gone shopping

Broodzilla · 02/10/2009 17:57

Erm, I came back as I forgot (as usual) to say something... and I've cross posted with a WHOLE ENTIRE PAGE LOAD! We must all be feeling the full-moon-loonies or something!

(And Ursi please write a book on how to succesfully enter and exit Ikea without buying something. You'll be rich!)

Meant to say - Laugs (although I think now someone else got there too...) how about you jazz up your dress with a massive bow in a bright colour? I know it sounds a bit silly, but a friend of mine had to go to a really posh dinner/dance while heavily pregnant, and she got this lovely wide, shiny fabric, made a massive bow (on her back) and you know what, it looked fab. Also, re heels, I'd have to give it a miss as I can barely manage Crocs at 35+4.

LissyGlitter · 02/10/2009 18:02

Wow lemontop! I must admit to a couple of tears when I saw your news. We really are on the home stretch now!

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/10/2009 18:05

I've just lit our wood-burning stove for the first time since about Feb. Autumn must be here! The DSs and the two cats are fascinated. We're toasting our toes.

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/10/2009 18:09

becky at your wood burning stove!

claired21 · 02/10/2009 18:12

Lemontop CONGRATULATIONS! Just read your post and the many posts that followed and I still can't take it in. Maybe I should do some baby shopping this weekend as my poor baby wouldn't have clothes to wear, a car seat to get home in or somewhere to sleep if it arrived now... So much to do, so little time!

Hope you can fill us in soon on the birth & how baby Isaac is doing x

Tamlin · 02/10/2009 18:19

Oh Lemontop, congratulations on the arrival of baby Isaac! When you feel up to kickstarting the postnatal thread with a birth story, we'll all be waiting with bated breath.

Is it just me, or does IKEA always seem full to the brim with heavily-pregnant women waddling about and looking fed-up? Come to think of it, we only ever seem to go there when I'm pregnant so possibly I just notice them more.

Broodzilla, yikes to the water retention. I hope your midwife gives you the all-clear. I've noticed that I'm probably going to have to take off my wedding rings soon, but it seems to be accumulating quite slowly. I think tomatoes and strawberries are supposed to be good if you're bloating..?

Lamb bhuna. Ohhh, now I'm hungry - and we're going to have low-fat chicken wraps for dinner tongiht.

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/10/2009 18:21

Oooh a lamb bhuna sounds good! Followed by strawberries to help with the bloating (my rings are pretty much stuck on my fingers!)

OP posts:
beepbeep · 02/10/2009 18:47

Congratulations Lemontop - hope Isaac is home soon and the birth went well (Love the name, but biased as my DS is also one!!)

Am in the middle of huge cookathon (hope it's not a sign!?!) done a chilli this afternoon with dark chocolate in it (never done one like that before) and now on with Jamie Oliver's turket & leek pie (tho using chicken). Steak and ale pies next!!

For those who know Chippy, had great knews this week that they will allow me to give birth there (all being well) despite the +ve strep B in last pregnancy. They are fully supportive of me not having the antibiotics if I don't want them and suggested if this was the case, why even be tested, and if I wasn't having atibiotics then I could go there - yippee!! So chuffed as had such a good experience there last time and now don't even have to worry about having the Strep B test done.

Becky - DH has been wanting to light our stove for a while, but have managed to put it off so far, I seem to be sufferring with hot flushes so thought of the stove being lit makes me want to crawl into the fridge!

A curry sounds like such a good idea, DH is working until 10, so not sure I can justify it just for myself, plus have cooked so much today!!

It is my birthday tomorrow and DH is working till 10pm again, he doesn't go until 11am so am hoping we can all have breakfast tgether at least, but a bit about it. Not sure what we'll do, DCs and will probably head up to Cotswold Wildlife Park.

ursigurke · 02/10/2009 18:51

OK, big misunderstanding! I never said, I would be able to leave an IKEA without buying anything! Actually when I just checked out the sofa and two or three other things (we still thought we could order EVERYTHING online), I got out with nothing. It really helps going there by public transport when you are 8 months pregnant
So list for tomorrow is to make sure that a) we do not forget important things like the dining table, b)we find the model we had already chosen the first time and c)we find article number and shelf number quickly.
We will than add lots of "very useful" stuff from the market hall. And I guess I have to cross the childrens area quickly or we end up with lots of soft toys.
Anyway, off to my picknick in the house (I never actually rented a house, it sounds sooo grown up to me)

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/10/2009 18:57

Oh my god I have nearly set fire to the house!!! We had the basket of wood next to the wood-burning stove and it caught fire!!!! DH is upstairs and hasn't noticed all the smoke yet. It's a good job DS2 and I noticed. We've opened all the doors and are hoping the smoke will disperse before DH noticed. Oh no. DH has noticed. He's just sent me an instant message from upstairs to say 'its a bit smokey up here'. I'd better go hide...

Broodzilla · 02/10/2009 19:34

I'm having a (0%) cider while watching DH cook. Bliss.

Beepbeep Glad you've got good news re birthing centre. Also, have you been watching Jamie's latest show? I'm such a saddo I had to get the book right away, made his mole chocolate tart last weekend and it was lush. I
