Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 28/09/2009 23:47

Well, when I'm pregnant I have coldsore after coldsore, literally one after the other for weeks. With ds I had 6 in a row, with this one I'm now on my fourth.

Food! god, today I've eaten

coffee and peanut butter on toast, flapjacks and milk, an apple, cheshire cheese sandwich, fish chips and sweetcorn, grapes, a few dates, cheese triangle and mini cheddars, and a bag of cadbury's clusters. Oink oink!!

and I'm still hungry. Want more cheese. Not going to have any though.

Kaystar · 29/09/2009 07:03

Bessie so sorry to hear your news - look forward to seeing you back on an ante-natal thread soon.

Amazing to hear your stories of early scans and beans' heartbeats. I am counting down the days until my first MW visit and hoping I can get a scan shortly after that. Some days I feel really like there is a little one in there but other days I begin to doubt it all - damned hormones...

I am the same as you hobnobfanatic, once I've eaten something I cannot eat it again - the thought of it is enough to make me gag. Bran flakes, oranges and digestive biscuits are the only things I can repeat eat.

Oooh, Viv, please let's hear more about your wedding! I got married in May and I am still checking out all the wedding websites regularly. It drives DH crazy! But at least I am weening myself off them a little by spending more time on MN

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 29/09/2009 07:57

Hobnobfanatic - I found last time that I had to stop eating my favourite foods because I would eat them, throw up, go off them. I've only just started eating jacket potatoes again.

I'm so impatient for the 12 week scan! I want to start telling people but feel daft doing it before I've seen little bean.

Feeling very nauseous this morning, can't decide what to eat for breakfast.

mmmmmchocolate · 29/09/2009 08:46

LOL at JamesAndTheGiantBanana sounds like me!! Ive had a chocolate snowman and two ginger biscuits for breakfast... I really fancy cheese and potato pie right now, I might have to venture towards the supermarket later DD has got her 2 year check later quite excited but nervous for her. Shes very strong willed (not like me at all ) and if she doesnt want to do something she wont so I cant see her performing for the HV.....

LuckyC · 29/09/2009 09:20

james That is such great news!

I am so sorry if I miss something vital now and then on this thread - moves so fast.

I am about scans too. Last night (lying awake in middle of) I managed to convince myself totally that I am not pregnant, but have something else drastically wrong with me (hence no AF), and have managed to psyche myself into all the symptoms like a mad crazy person. {blush] I know I promised not to but I am going to have to get another test today...

hobnob my rules are:

  1. Once you have eaten something, do not eat it again for at least a week.
  2. Do not try to think 'What to I want to eat' - you don't want to eat anything and it will make you worse.
  3. Have tiny, tiny bits of food often.
  4. Marmite + crackers, cornflakes and (new news) crumpets (plain) all OK (just me.)
  5. Try it even if you do not want it.
  6. Eating when you feel nauseous makes you feel better (somtimes.)
  7. Fever Tree ginger beer.
  8. Do not feel guilty that bean is living on crackers - you are doing your best (I wish - feeling incredibly guilty.)
  9. DH cooking - makes me feel better because of no cooking smells for me, and also because I like to see him actually doing something in the kitchen .
Hollyoaks · 29/09/2009 10:33

Hi all, ms is still quite mild for me so managing to eat most things but then feeling really sick afterwards. Still early days though, waiting for it to kick in properly.

Took dd to the hospital this morning for an ultrasound of her kidneys as she had a nasty uti a few months ago. Glad to say all went well and it showed up no abnormalities so she's hopefully being discharged after we see the consultant in december. Glad I took my dad too as she was very wriggly on the bed when she was scanning her. It took two of us to hold her still and she's only 20mo and tiny . Told them I was pg to see if I could get a sneaky scan but they weren't having any of it

mmmchocolate good luck for the check-up, hope your dd's cooperative and shows off for the hv.

Carikube · 29/09/2009 10:39

This thread does move so quickly...

I've been distracted the past few days as we have just started BLW with DD; bit strange spending my time thinking about what food to give her when I can't even think about what to feed myself!!

I've got the booking appt with the MW this afternoon. We won't be having a scan until 12 weeks so won't have any official confirmation of a bean until then.

I think I'm starting to look pg though so I don't know how easy it will be to keep it quiet til after then. Oh well, off on holiday in a couple of weeks and as we're away for 3 weeks we'll probably be able to tell people almost as soon as we get back (dread to think what number thread we'll be up to by then!)

memorylapse · 29/09/2009 10:43

Im living on adiet of shreddies at the mo..its the only thing I can tolerate, I havent touched coffee for 3 weeks now and I was a BIG coffee drinker..tea I can still happily drink, but it has to be just so, too milky and it makes me retch..
I had terrible tummy ache last night, I barely slept a wink..had to rush to the loo this morning(sorry tmi)..I think Ive overdone the shreddies

LittleOneMum · 29/09/2009 10:51

viv that's totally stunning!!! Want to hear all about it. I got married in 2006 and I wish I was planning it all again... it's such a fabulous day. Maybe we should all start talking about our weddings on here, to keep our minds of the tiredness/nausea. OK, here's my vitals stats to get everyone started:

  • Got married in the south of France (I have a French Mum) in summer 2006
  • wore a really lovely (well, would you expect anything else) Monique L'Hullier dress - diamonte halterneck and all!
  • flower theme was hot pink orchids!
  • first dance: Grace Jones 'La Vie en Rose'

(by the way I don't mean to leave out any lovely mums to be who aren't married. Just reliving the dream!)

Hobnobfanatic · 29/09/2009 11:04

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Lentil soup sounds good - and I might give crumpets another go, too. I usually love cheese - it's my major downfall - but the thought of it makes me queasy. Could very easily eat a pound of stilton - but that's probably desirable only because it's forbidden!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 29/09/2009 11:06

Memorylapse - I find Shreddies pretty good too, they're nice and bland.

LittleOneMum - good idea Here's mine:

  • We got married in August 2006, in Devon (we both grew up here, met at school, stayed together through Uni, got married after graduation)
  • My Mum made my dress for me with ivory silk and antique lace.
  • Flowers were lots of bright greens including various herbs and Leonardis roses (a sort of burnt orange colour)
  • Honeymooned in a cottage in the Highlands.

Hollyoaks - glad your DD's scan went well

Kaystar · 29/09/2009 11:29

I really like Bran Flakes at the mo - and I guess the fibre must be good as they are about the only things that don't give me indigestion for hours afterwards. Like the rules LuckyC, especially the advice not to eat something again for at least a week - can relate to that

Ooooh, wedding memories - love it!

  • Got married in May this year in southern Sweden (where DH grew up)
  • Strapless satin and lace fitted dress with fishtail by small Kent-based designer (Christina K)
  • Flowers were white peonies
  • First dance was to "Dance me to the end of love" (Madeleine Peyroux version learned for us by the band we had)

Was craving sweet things so just ate a wine gum and now I feel all woozy - from only one wine gum - must be all the alcohol they put in them

memorylapse · 29/09/2009 11:32

my wedding stats:

married in July 1999, had a small wedding reception for close family and friends in an exclusive restruaunt that used to be a fire engine house!

Honeymooned in the cotswalds, visiting avebury, then on to glastonbury tor etc..my mum had ds and dd1, was a lovely wedding,my wedding dress was a long sage green strapless dress with a satin bolero jacket..it was a size 10..doubt Id get one thigh into it now!

Hollyoaks · 29/09/2009 11:33

LittleoneMum good idea, I'm getting all nostalgic.

  • we got married in September 2004 at Langley Castle, Northumberland (we're both from round here though met in Crete!).
  • I wore a Forever Yours dress, it had a red embroidered bodice, huge tulle skirt and rosebud shoulder straps and trim.
  • flowers were long stemmed red roses.
  • first dance was Barbara Strisand & Brian Adams, I've finally found someone
  • Honeymooned in Orlando at all the theme parks

twentiethcentury thanks for the kind words.

Positivethinking · 29/09/2009 11:36

Hi There, I would very much like to join this thread. I've recently found out that I'm pregnant. Early days (nearly 6 weeks) and due May 27th I think. All very new to me, first pregnancy, and a little scared to say the least! I've been quite focused on my career during my twenties and we became pregnant very quickly after we decided that we should get a move on if we wanted to have a family! So a little shocked and overwhelmed that it happened so soon. Have felt a little strange over the last few weeks, sore nipples and backache. But no sickness as of yet. I'm looking forward to sharing our journeys together.

LittleOneMum · 29/09/2009 12:14

Oh bless !!

I am loving these wedding memories...

White peonies? Mum making your dress? Orlando on honeymoon? Gosh, I wish I was planning it all again. Jesus, are we ever going to look that young and glam again?

Viv - see what you've started??!

LittleOneMum · 29/09/2009 12:14

Oh and hello positive thinking - welcome! Great thread to have found...

Carikube · 29/09/2009 12:21

Positivethinking congratulations and welcome to the thread!

LittleoneMum here goes :

  • married in Nov 07 in Cheshire (where I grew up - family church)
  • wore a v simple dress from Debenhams (DH's suit was more expensive than my dress and he can't fit in to it anymore )
  • flowers were red carnations in the same style as my Mum had for her wedding in the '50s
  • honeymooned in Argentina and it was FAB
LuckyC · 29/09/2009 12:51

positivethinking welcome and congratulations! I am also a first-timer and it happened VERY fast for me too - so if you need someone to panic/feel overwhelmed with, I am definitely your girl.

viv I am LOVING hearing about your/everyone's weddings - awww...

  • Married in September last year on a farm in Somerset
  • It was Wedstock, with all my friends camping all weekend
  • Friends all helped with hair, makeup, flowers, table/ tent decorations (all made by my genius mum)
  • Honeymooned in Cornwall - with all my family who had come out from Zimbabwe and all DH's family, who were all meeting for the first time... went well (phew)
pigleychez · 29/09/2009 12:58

Positive thinking- Welcome aboard!

Lovely the wedding memories Heres mine :

-Married June 2007 in a Castle in Kent (our hometown)

-Wore a big Maggie soterrio dress encrusted with Swarovski crystals and a huge train!

  • Flowers were White roses and white Orchids with pink centres.
  • Honeymooned in Thailand and the surrounding Islands... Fantastic!

My friend is getting married in May so been loving helping her plan hers -- Although havent told her that i'll be waddling be then yet!!

BuongiornoPrincipessa · 29/09/2009 13:41

Hello Everyone, I hope I can join you, have just found out I'm pregnant too - due May 21st. It's my first pregnancy and I think I am definitely in the "happy but in shock" camp

LotusPalm · 29/09/2009 13:42

Hello LAdies,

I'm new here. 9 weeks pregnant with my first and just starting to not be sick a million times a day. Still very nauseous though, and am (charmingly) sick every time i brush my teeth - oddly this only started when the rest of the throwing up stopped!

Naturally worried that somethings gone wrong now!

Am 31, married on August the 8th and pretty much preggers straight away. I knew (LOADS of symptoms) 5 days before AF due but waited a whole 3 days to test. Rather shocked... Go through moments of absolute elation and then terrible fear that i'm just not ready yet. Then have fear that Ziggy (short for zygote - fetching dont cha think) isn't ok in there...

Had a early scan at 6 weeks and saw tiny tiny (3mm) fetal pole with strong heart palpations. Isn't this very small?

Anyway, i've rambled rather too much. Hello!

x

LittleOneMum · 29/09/2009 14:06

Hi lotuspalm ! No, that's not too small. I had an early scan also at 6 weeks (as I had a MC before) and also saw a 3mm fetal pole with HB and they said that was totally normal and fine and perfectly happy! So not to stress!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 29/09/2009 14:11

Hi and welcome Positive Thinking (could do with some of that on this thread!) and LotusPalm.

LotusPalm - just wanted to say don't worry about your morning sickness changing to just retching when brushing teeth, I had that throughout last pregnancy, it doesn't mean anything but it is horrible! Try to avoid brushing your tongue, that's the worst bit.

So nice hearing about people's weddings! we aren't married (yet?!?)

Now I'm not on bedrest any more, and after the stress of the past few days I'm knackered today. Had to drag myself to mums n toddlers so I knew ds had had some fun and exercise, really didn't feel like being there!

Positivethinking · 29/09/2009 14:19

Thanks for the welcomes and best wishes from everyone.

LuckyC I will definitely take you up on your offer I think I might need a bit of hand holding along the way

Hello to the other new joiners LotusPalm and BuongiornoPrincipessa

-Married January 2007 in Wales (Husband's home town). Lovely winter wedding, it snowed a little.
-Wore strapless taffeta Ian Stuart dress, bodice encrusted with Swarovski crystals and full skirt opening at back to show antique lace train. Loved it!
-Flowers were simple white roses
-Honeymooned in Malaysia.
