hophop..so sorry to hear your news..good luck with TTC again

can someone please change my due date to 4th May??? cant copy and paste as my keyboard is cranky!

Kazmog · 15/10/2009 18:19

Hello

Thanks for your messages - LolaAnn I don't have a date yet for a scan, I phoned the hospital yesterday and they said that they haven't received my referral letter yet - the doctor says it was sent 2 weeks ago. I hope that it is soon! I really want to tell my mum as she has noticed that I have been under the weather and is convinced I have an ucler!

Moggmum - I hope that the nausea eases soon for you. I tried everything - ginger, falt coke, ginger beer, sparkling water, fruit sweets, grapes etc. I am finding I feel ok now as long as I don't let myself get hungry.

cupcakefairy · 15/10/2009 18:29

Hi al. Thanks for sympathy re my dh but we have known it was coming for a while. Still kinda really sucks though!

memorylapse so pleased for your good news

hippity so sorry. You sound very positive about moving forward though so that is great. Take care of yourself.

James my birthday is Saturday hope you enjoy your weekend! And everyone I've spoken to says the change from 1 to 2 is nothing like as shocking to the system as from 0 to 1! You'll be just fine.

9+1 for me today. Time is draaaaagging!

memorylapse · 15/10/2009 18:40

Im 11+2 today and having a wobbly moment today as I draw closer to 12 weeks...I had a friend who was expecting a baby same time as me when I was having DS2...when she was 12 weeks..she lost her baby..I remember asking my consultant why this could happen at 12 weeks and the consultant said that miscarriage can occur at 12 weeks because thats when the placenta starts functioning..so if there is a problem with the placenta, the baby dies...so im feeling a bit wobbley as obviously my placenta isnt fully attached to my uterus..so im really nervous

alexiscolby · 15/10/2009 18:48

memorylapse its hard not to worry but am thinking positive thoughts for you.

Hollyoaks · 15/10/2009 19:26

hippity so sorry, good luck ttc again.

Don't want to upset anyone, but for all those who have lost babies either through miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after birth there are candles being lit tonight from 7pm till 8pm. It's done worldwide and should create a wave of light across the world in memory of all the littlest angels. Mine is lit for my nephew and all those on here who have suffered a loss.

Hope I haven't upset anyone.

Den26 · 15/10/2009 20:21

Hi All

Hollyoaks thats a lovely way to remember

Memorylapse i am so happy for you that you have had good news for a change - scan and boiler! Try to stay positive

Hippity so sorry to hear your news, you are being strong! Look after yourself...

Happy birthday to James and cupcake when they come!

My nausea's back seems to be before meals but kinda lingers all day. Got a scan next thurs to check everything going ok (will be 9 weeks) and meeting with Midwife the week after. I'm hoping booking scan can be booked soon enough as hoping to send pic in my parents anniversary card as a way of telling them! Their anniversary is on the 13th November!

Hello to those who have joined us!

Suey you are being so strong! It must be difficult but you have to look after yourself and shouldn't feel guilty about being excited about you pregancy.

Also good luck to those looking for jobs!

sweetkitty · 15/10/2009 21:20

Evening ladies been reading and lurking but trying to get 5 mins to post and catch up. Nothing much exciting happening here, tomorrow have booking in appt and on the 30th my one and only scan at 12+6 weeks I feel bad I remember being all excited about my first booking in scan with DD1 now it's right lets get this over with it's so boring. Still feeling sick constantly and couldn't get off the sofa today, luckily it's school hols and DP is off work this week so easy week for me.

memorylapse - I don't think any of us will be truly happy until we are moaning about being kicked in the ribs and the heartburn but hey we are counting down the days and ticking them off, great news about your scan but for you for the MW who said you would probably mc

hippity - sorry for your loss, a nice way to think about it, also once you are pregnant again and have a baby you will think well I wouldn't have had X now, it's some comfort. Someone once said to me that there is a belief that every woman has a number of souls with her that are her unborn children, sometimes the wee body is not strong enough for that soul so the soul leaves and gets back in line for the next body so they never leave you. Nice way of thinking about it I thought.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

memorylapse · 15/10/2009 22:27

sweetkitty..I probably wont be happy un til Ive given birth tbh!

I felt fab yesterday...nausea had eased right off and I ate a good evening meal..today its back with a vengence and Ive been sick a few times...so Im off to bed now..night ladies

TomlinTowers · 15/10/2009 22:36

hippity I'm really sorry for your news.

sweetkitty - I love the way you described the little souls getting back in line for the next body, that is lovely way to think about it.

Happy birthday for those celebrating this weekend!

Feel rough today for some reason, and am reverting to childhood food. Ate a huge portion of my mum's trifle for tea - I figure that it had fruit in the bottom and cream so good for calcium... !

Told my team manager about the pg today, she was really supportive and positive which was great as my work will fall largely on her when I am off. But branch manager was away today grr, so got myself all psyched up for nothing! Will have to wait til Monday!

hophophippidtyhop · 16/10/2009 06:59

Many thanks for everyone's kind words, my mum came round for dinner after work so couldn't get back on. I'm just thankful it happened when i was 8 weeks instead of later. Just feel in limbo now, waiting to be able to try again!1

Yorky · 16/10/2009 08:54

Hello again all

This thread really takes some keeping up with!

Nice to hear about all the scans, but that there's still a trickle of mums in waiting leaving us. My fingers are firmly crossed. I am always nervous before my 12wk scan - with DS I had no symptoms at all, nothing felt real and I was convinced they were going to tell me it was all in my imagination. With DD a good friend had just had a mmc so that brought everything too close to home, and this time SIL has just lost her baby at 11wks so not very relaxing here!

DS was only 22 mo when DD was born so we didn't tell him very much at all, lots of people asked him where mummy's baby was and did lots of pointing to bump but I think it just confused him tbh. Not planning on telling him for a while yet as kids don't get how long it takes.

suey2 · 16/10/2009 08:59

morning all
9 weeks today and going for my follow up scan so they can date me more accurately. I'm looking forward to it: last time it really was just a fuzzy blob (only 7mm) so I hope it looks a bit more interesting this time!

I have a couple of times, pointed to my tummy and said 'baby' to my 21 month old: she just looks confused. But will step it up if the 12 weeks scan goes well.

Feeling a little more energised this week, although i have deliberately reduced my workload. Sadly the business is not busy enough and i have all new staff: hopefully they'll stick around.

LuckyC · 16/10/2009 09:07

Hey all. Anyone else completely lost the ability to walk through a room without crashing into something? Have no spatial awareness left and stubbed my toe twice before 9am today. Durr.

Also, please will someone explain to me, when you say 'I am 6+3' - what does that mean? Does it mean 6 weeks and 3 days??

VivClicquot · 16/10/2009 10:03

Morning all

LuckyC - you've got it spot on, so I'm officially 9 weeks and 3 days today.

Feeling v sick this morning, but by and large, I've been feeling really good ... can't help but think the general lack of MS adds fuel to my theory it's a boy.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 16/10/2009 10:16

hophophippidtyhop - so sorry Good luck with TTC.

Welcome to any newbies, this is a huge thread!

I'm in my maternity dungarees already, sooooo comfortable. Although they do make me look a bit like a scarecrow I think.

TomlinTowers - I really want trifle now! Hmmm, not sure if I can actually be bothered to make one though

pigleychez · 16/10/2009 10:42

morning all,

Hoppy- Sorry to hear your news. Good Luck TTC again.

Viv- I had no morning sickness last time and had DD.

Suey- DH has been saying to same to DD (14mths) and she has picked it up really quickly. She quite often points to my tummy saying baby.

Feeling soooo tired lately and hard to be motivated to do things with DD.. poor little thing!

DH was laughing at me last night gaging over the toilet. Thinking of a suitable way of repaying him!

LotusPalm · 16/10/2009 10:44

Mmmmm crumpets! I'm so glad that it's winter time - it means that we get to indulge in some good treats.

I'm feeling much better today - almost like before i got pregannt. It's amazing, being able to function in the real world without feeling like you're wading through treacle and viewing everything through a veil of tamazipan!

Still feel nauseous if i am not putting food into my mouth every 10 minutes but the sedated feeling has certainly lifted and i feel like i have more energy.

By the scan i am 11+6, but by LMP i am 11+2 - the scanning unit at the hospital told me that scans are more accurate for dating, but the private sonographer explained that they take an average. Does anyone know which is more accurate in terms of the magical 12 week mark? And why is 12 weeks magical?!

Jennylee · 16/10/2009 10:54

sweetkitty, I remember you from the thread from last year when we had babies july/august. It is so bad feeling ill when you already have a toddler. I still can't believe I'm having another one already. start of may sometime.

memorylapse · 16/10/2009 11:27

Lotuspalm, they usually date you by your scan

12 weeks is considered magical because thats the time when your odds of miscarriage drop considerably, its also when the placenta fully takes over the role of supporting the pregnancy, which is why some pregnancies fail at 12 weeks because there are usually problems with the placenta. Once the placenta takes over..MS usually starts to ease off.

I feel so sick today.I just want to go back to bed..sorry to be a moaner..11+3 today..4 more days until 12 weeks

LotusPalm · 16/10/2009 11:50

Hi ML - Is that right? I was told that the placenta completely takes over at some point between 12 - 14 weeks, but that it has already taken over some of the hormone production by 10 weeks?

Its so confusing!

LuckyC · 16/10/2009 11:59

lotuspalm at your description of feeling better - I have had hours/days like this too - it's so amazing to feel normal again. I have even start to exercise go for gentle walks again without feeling like death. Yay for normality!

memorylapse top info on why 12 is the magic number. Thanks. Hang in there, you are nearly there. Nausea a good sign (though appalling feeling.)

I have also started to feel less freaked out, rollercoastery and generally miserable. Tendency to burst into tears when I tell people I am pregnant has stopped (am no longer a freakish unfit mother.) Wouldn't say I am desperately excitedly OTT happy about The Future, but feeling more positive. La la la.

memorylapse · 16/10/2009 12:09

Lotus- I was always led to understand that the placenta has taken over 99% of the hormone production by the end of the 12th week..but Im sure its not an exact science though

suey2 · 16/10/2009 12:11

lotuspalm i find it all pretty fascinating, too. I remember being gutted that i was less PG than i thought last time, but apparently some people ovulate late and sperm can live for 5 days after DTD, so LMP and date of shag not reliable re date of conception. I still stuck to my original due date, though it was more than 2 weeks out. This time, i will have an elective cs so will probably have the baby at 38 weeks in any case: does anyone know when they do an elective CS?

OP posts:
memorylapse · 16/10/2009 12:17

suey..they tend to do Elective Sections between 38-39 weeks.IIRC
