Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Minshu · 23/09/2009 17:09

Oh - meant to say that the friend I had lunch today told me that she'd had acupuncture for two consecutive days coming up to / on her due date and the baby was born one or two days after the second session.

arolf · 23/09/2009 17:17

thanks mrswee - I'm not even contemplating homeopathy as I'm not a believer - think it would annoy me too much to pay someone to advise me on it tbh! I'm thinking about reflexology though, if I can find a practitioner locally. I'm also contemplating just taking a huff and stomping around town every day until baby arrives, being a mad pregnant lady.

just had a short nap, so am feeling much more positive now than I did earlier!

oh, and fairysparkles - I've had the 'this baby is going to be born ready for school' worry recently too I'm already forseeing problems with all our newborn baby clothing and the moses basket being too small for him, so have suggested to DP that we spend our last free weekend together traipsing round mothercare - needless to say, he was not so keen on the idea...

come on september babies, hurry up and be born!!

LJ29 · 23/09/2009 17:19

Sorry I havebeen absent for a few days, I seem to be glued to the sofa breastfeeding Harry 24/7. Just thought I would chip in that I had reflexology the day before my waters broke and I was 'niggly' as soon as she started so I do think its worth a try.

Best of luck to all those still waiting.

arolf · 23/09/2009 17:54

ooh, think I just had a show! I know this could mean sod all, but in my bored waiting-for-baby existence, it's exciting stuff - clearly the sweep attempt this morning did something!
(TMI alert - a show should look like an enormous blood-tinged slug/bogie, shouldn't it?!)

just hope it doesn't regenerate too much, and that the baby isn't far behind...

sorry, getting all over excited here, as there is nobody else I can tell this to!

Minshu · 23/09/2009 18:08

That's what we're here for, arolf!!

Not having experienced a show yet, I don't know for sure, but sounds promising . And really something to look forward to.

Fingers-crossed for you!

Gonnabamumma · 23/09/2009 18:12

Hi lovely ladies. Baby girl born this morning at 2.15am. No name as yet. She was 8lb 14oz and I am in love for the second time in my life! After my post yesterday, contractions continued to itensify, went to Queen Charlottes at 8pm, they sent me for a long walk, as the baby had turned to posterior (which explains all the mad wriggles over the weekend!). Said I could still try the birth center, had to beg for G&A for the second stage and didn't even get a sniff at the birthing pool (apparently no good for posterior babies), but only had to push for 1 hr, and she turned just before she was born. Had to have a few stiches, nothing major and let me leave at 12pm today Was intense, painful and wonderful!

Good luck to all the ladies still waiting and hope your birth experience was as wonderful as mine!

arolf · 23/09/2009 18:15

oh, congratulations gonnabeamumma! sounds like a nice experience, and fairly straightforward! lucky you!!

thanks minshu - it was quite a shock seeing it, as midwife was so pessimistic this morning, so I very nearly called DP to have a look, then remembered I'm british and settled for telling the internet

FairySparkles · 23/09/2009 19:28

Congratulations Gonnab

Oooo arolf - fabulous news about the 'show', hopefully the start of things for you now then! - when is/was your due date (pregnancy brain does not allow me to remember anything other than the last 2 posts in one go!!)

My baby is gonna be huge - had a scan last week and it was put on 90 centile!! God help me going over due - I'm going to give birth to a fecking toddler - I'm seriously the size of a house!!....and not impressed at the stretch marks!! Managed to escape quite lightly when pg with dd - got loads more now tho!! {angry]

FairySparkles · 23/09/2009 19:30

....anything from frosty?? Minshu - it looks like she might have beaten us to it!?

StealthPolarBear · 23/09/2009 19:48

Congratulations Gonnab
Does she have a name yet?

StealthPolarBear · 23/09/2009 19:49

arolf, exciting that things seem to be happening. I never had a full on blood tinged show but the bits of what I assume were show I had in the few days before were like a heavy sneeze when you don't have a cold HTH.
And yes, I did deliberately post that in a separate post so as not to have a single post congratulation gonnab and then talking about sneezing into my knickers

arolf · 23/09/2009 19:55

yup, but that's all that's happening! I'm hoping that something more will happen in the next few days, not keen on induction!

fairysparkles, I'm 40+3 today, so not THAT overdue, but still unable to see past the end of each day!
(oh, actual answer to your question - september 20th )

stretch marks are a bugger, aren't they? my midwife kept wincing whenever she saw mine, said they were awful - nice of her think positive, it's not much longer now, plus which, will you care so much about them when you've got your new baby snuggling in your arms? (I'm hoping not...)

SPB - yes, know what you mean - it's a bit grotty, isn't it?! but am overly excited by it now, and that's much much better than my recent weepiness!

nitnat84 · 23/09/2009 19:56

Congrats Gonnab
Arolf- I had a sweep on monday and have had a lot of show since then. Fingers crossed for us both! I have my second sweep booked for tomo.

mummyhill · 23/09/2009 20:01

Congratulations gonnabeamumma

newbie36 · 23/09/2009 20:16

My EDD is tomorrow, but as far as friends and family are dealing with it, I might aswell be overdue for the number of texts and calls I'm now receiving on a daily basis. Have decided to put a message on facebook on my status to see if that puts at end to it - how ridiculous is that? Having to declare to the world I have no news for them! (And surely if I would they would know??) Will never ask a pregnant woman again if she has any twinges or signs because I know it's too bloody annoying!!

Right enough of my rant, congrats to all the new mummies on here - particularly to Tiger feet who I seem to recall had a rough time with morning sickness. Congratulations! Hopefully the rest of us will be joining the mummy brigade soon!

JRocks · 23/09/2009 20:20

congrats to TF, Gonnab and peppermint..!!

What's going on with SF ?

I never did get around to posting my birth story, seems a bit late now

Gorgeous pictures Stealth!

I have so much reading to catch up on now I'm home, those hospital internet things are rubbish...

Aww huge hugs SF I could of cried when they told me I would have to wait for my induction too love. But thinking about it now I can see why and I would much rather have another normal delivery than increase the risk of a section iyswim.

JRocks · 23/09/2009 20:56

Oh I'm sorry SF, I was really hoping you were underway! FWIW With this induction I didn't think I'd be very favourable - DS wasn't engaged and I hadn't had much of a show or anything bar strong BH. The pessary only took 3 hours to work, and Madok arrived within 12 hours of it being put in place with no intervention. I hope that's the case for you too if that's the route you go down x

Aw frosty - sorry your still hanging on too! we're not too overdue just yet so don't get too down - dp said to me (bless his cottons trying in vain to cheer me up) "at least everyday the baby doesn't come is one less day to wait until it's here" (I actually told him to fuck off at the time but he does have a point if you want to try and put a positive spin on things!!)

....right, I'm off to bed; stayed up past 9pm tonight woo hoo - got a sweep 1st thing in the morning so if anybody fancies crossing their fingers for me I'd be very grateful

JRocks · 23/09/2009 22:37

fingers crossed for you fairysparkles

Snowfalls108 · 24/09/2009 06:00

Morning all. So induction is not a simple process. I've been in hospital since tuesday morning, had 3 lots of gel, and my cervix is only 1cm dilated. Feeling very much like rachel in friends, as different women are brought in and then head off before me. They are now waiting to break my waters but the labour ward is too full, so I've been on standby since yesterday evening. Unfortunately they can't guarantee there will be space today. Agh!!
