Hi arolf!

yes I was up at 4am till 6... sorry missed your post while middle of the night internet shopping!...

On top of my SPD I started getting some lovely sciatica yesterday while testing out folding the new pram in John Lewis!!
I can only sleep for about 3 hours at a time anyway (I know some would say I am lucky!) but woke up in agony last and just had to get up for a while to try and ease it off.
Got another couple of hours this morning.

It's our wedding anniversary today so despite the sciatica, we are going for a walk/hobble.... hoping it help this baby along a wee bit.

mrswee · 23/09/2009 11:56

poor you nitnat! what a pain! hope it's a just a 24 hr cold!

AprilMeadow · 23/09/2009 11:58

Congratulations PeppermintCream & TigerFeet

Baby Lucy is settling into the Meadow family really nicely. She is really chilled and feeding well. Sleeping is getting batter, although for a 4 day old she is doing really well.

Popped a picture on my profile.

Fingers crossed that all you overdue ladies get to meet your bundles very soon x

arolf · 23/09/2009 12:31

well, I just went to see the midwife, and she tried to do a sweep, to no avail. She's fairly sure I'm going to need induction. So am now having another sweep attempt on sunday, then another next wednesday before the hospital will even contemplate induction (so cannot even make appointment for it until term +12). Likely to end up with an october baby, which bizarrely annoys me!

Am feeling quite miserable and very uncomfortable, as the sweep attempt has set off some grim cramping (and there was a lot of blood - is that normal?!).

Poor DP came with me for the appointment and was made to sit outside, so he's a bit pissed off at the moment too!

oh well, need to make plans to enjoy our last weekend together as just us, I suppose.

good luck everyone else, and hope you all get september babies!

StealthPolarBear · 23/09/2009 13:36

happy anniversary mrsw!
nitnat, hope the cold goes very soon
oh arolf, sorry the sweep was so bad why did they make your dp sit outside??

StealthPolarBear · 23/09/2009 13:39

AM, L is beautiful! She looks so big (was she??) and alert though - I would have guessed she was about 6 weeks!

arolf · 23/09/2009 13:41

no idea why - the student midwife was allowed to come in, and I was told I could hold her hand if I wanted to . all very odd, but have lost the will to live argue/question anything now!

mummyhill · 23/09/2009 14:55

Hi Bexaa - I am going to Good Hope how about you?

Right sweep performed today apparently only got a bishop score of 3 so not particularly favourable. Have been booked in for an induction on Wednesday. Have to be on the ward for 7.30 in the morning! So will be dropping the kids off at mil's on Tuesday night. I am hoping that maybe will start off naturally before then but am not holding my breath.

Minshu · 23/09/2009 15:04

Congratulations PeppermintCream and TigerFeet!!

Looking forward to news from Labella, Gonnab, StayFrosty and Fairysparkles.

Hope your cold is like mine, nitnat - threatened to come on over the weekend, and fizzled to nothing in 24 hours!

Arolf - most bizarre about DP not being allowed in with your for the sweep. Sorry it's not been pleasant, and hope that it does trigger something for you.

Think mine will be an October baby. I was told by a complete stranger in the middle of town last night that the baby was so high that there was no way I'd go into labour this week and that "they'd have to start me off". If I hadn't already come to terms with that from what the obstetrician and midwife had said, I may have been a bit upset by it, but it coming from someone selling the Big Issue (who'd had 4 kids), I found it almost reassuring

So, I'm not letting this due date nonsense change any more of my plans - just been out for lunch with a friend and her little boy and going to a works leaving do tonight. We're seeing the obstetrician tomorrow, so may know something then...

FairySparkles · 23/09/2009 15:12

congratualtions PC and TF - and WOW what a birth story bigbang!!!

So.... still quite a few of us still here then!

Minshu and Frosty - so none of us actually gave birth when we should have then!! - dd is keeping me busy so the days are still going quite quick for me which isn't too bad - pretty sure lo has no intention of moving out tho - perhaps it has its wires crossed and is planning on leaving mummy's tummy at 18 rather than 'leaving home at 18!'
Had a sweep yesterday; midwife said baby still has 2/5 of head out (so 3/5 engaged) I was 1cm dilated but cervix still very thick - got another sweep 2morrow morning but not holding my breath for anything happening much before next week -bollocks!!!! I'm a VERY impatient person at the best of times - this is sooooooo frustrating! May as well go and say hello to the october thread girls I think! Frosty - think it sounds like you'll be the 1st out of us 3 anyway

Some of you sound to be having a really rough time of it - arolf - you especially!! So sorry your hardly getting any sleep - don't worry, when the baby comes it sounds like you actually will get more sleep!

sending out strong to all who want them ....(all of us then yeah!??!)

FairySparkles · 23/09/2009 15:16

Minshu - cross posted!
How strange; I had that funny 'coming down with a cold' thing that turned out to be nothing!?

LOL at the big issue seller - why is it everyone is an 'expert' about pregnancy!

Minshu · 23/09/2009 15:33

FairySparkles - I was hoping that you were being quiet because your LO was being obedient.

My DP had a cough / cold most of last week and until Monday (difficult to tell, as he just got on with things as he's not a stereotypical male "flu-victim"), so I really thought something would come of it when my throat started tickling, it but must have been a strain I'd had before.

In Taiwan, you're not considered overdue until 41 weeks. Does that help, at all, anyone?

mummyhill · 23/09/2009 15:37

Don't you dare decamp to the October thread you are still one of us whether early or late cause we started this journey together and we will damn well finish it together!

mummyhill · 23/09/2009 15:40

The chief registrar this morning was asking if we were doing everything we needed to try and start this labour off naturally so dh has decided to up the ante on that score bless him. Good job he still finds me attractive at this late stage I suppose and that I actually still have a sex drive even if I do giggle a lot. It can be uncomfy but well it is less painful than the sweep was.

StealthPolarBear · 23/09/2009 16:57

lol Minshu, you should have asked her (hoping it was a she...) for a sweep!

mrswee · 23/09/2009 16:59

Arolf, I have been told reflexology and or accupressure can be quite effective when you are over due. Also my aunt tried homeopathic remedies the day before both her births when she had, had inductions booked. She did get prescribed by a herbalist rather than just looking up the net and taking remedies though.

Possibly worth a try if you believe these things can work. I will book myself in for some reflexology next week when if I go over due next week, see what happens and then try homeopathy if that doesn't work!!

mrswee · 23/09/2009 17:01

Thanks stealth! having a nice day so far... last childless anniversary!
