Morning. EDD+2 and I am still here. Getting a bit fed up. Had 3 people ask me yesterday and 2 so far this morning where baby is! My other two were late so why anyone thinks this one is going to be any different I really don't know.

Back hurts this morning but I think that has more to do with sleeping on my side and when I roll over my lower back clunks and goes into spasm. Have a tummy ache but no contractions and I feel sick. Kids are playing me up and I want to sit and cry! I am doing the nursery runs today as I have toddler group to run this morning am hoping that the time spent on my feet may help! MY mum is doing the afternoon school run for me though.

Have MIL collecting from Nursery and mum collecting from school tomorrow. DH is off on Weds as we have a hospital app where I will beg to be induced asap so mil will do nursery and school collections if need be. Rest of the week is all up in the air till we hear what the hospital say on Weds.

Gonnabamumma · 21/09/2009 09:02

Morning Ladies, still here too EDD+5, no signs of anything happening.

Am still sleeping really well though, so can't complain. Hugs to the ladies with insomnia - that sucks!

Am a bit concerned that the babies head isn't engaged anymore - it managed to wriggle round my right hand side yesterday evening, so I literally had a bump sticking out on my right hip - even DH who brushes off every concern/niggle said it was very weird to look at - can they move that much at this stage?

Fabulous birth story bigbang, am , can't wait to meet my lo now.

Labour vibes to all!

Minshu · 21/09/2009 09:29

Gonnabamumma - my LO seems to be very mobile, still. A lot of yesterday I was hopeful that the head was engaged at last due to the pressure on my bladder, but yesterday evening seemed to be back to random movements everywhere.

I'll not be beaten by insomnia - went back to bed for cuddle with DH when the alarm went off and managed a little nap, so feeling far better now

Hope you are feeling better after getting the DCs off to school etc, mummyhill.

It's weird - since working out the due date after the BFP in the middle of January, we've had our EDDs to repeat over and over again, getting locked in our hormane-ravaged brains. Now we're here and those of us left on this thread have little certainty over exactly when things are going to happen. It's relatively easy for us first timers, but the logistics are a right pain for those of you with kids and for all our DPs & DHs who are working. In the grand scheme of things, this is only a short period of time That's no comfort to me at the moment, either, before you start throwing things

Labella77 · 21/09/2009 09:40

Morning ladies,
Amazing to hear your birth story bigbang, a real surprise for everyone, except you! And Good luck to Mumslady.

Well, i'm still here and have 2 days to the cs, and i'm ridiculously excited.

This does not stop me trying to entice the wiggliest baby in the world out however. I even tried sex the other night, which was hilariously uncomfortable and i didn't think it was possible to manoeuvre into such a position, i thought we were going to have to call the fire brigade to lever me off at the end. Poor husband.

Anyway it didn't work, I'm still here hobbling around on the crutches, having BH's all night long and sleeping for around 4 hours a night. I'm also now getting a little worried that she's turned into the proper position and I'll be turned away tomorrow at the assessment unit and have to wait it out.

GOOD LUCK LADIES AND BABIES, all fingers crossed and legs uncrossed.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Minshu · 21/09/2009 09:42

hormone not hormane

arolf · 21/09/2009 09:49

hiya, I'm a september-er too - but haven't really kept up with these threads - baby was due yesterday, so am fed up today! Dragged DP out for a curry last night, then was kept awake all night with awful cramping - as was he - so think the curry is likely to be delivered today...

I'm getting so so sick of every family member, plus many friends, calling me every half hour to ask if baby is here yet, so am just ignoring them now.

good luck everyone :-)

Snowfalls108 · 21/09/2009 10:21

Morning all.
So 41+ 1 or 8 days overdue here.
Induction booked for tomorrow.
Anyone here any experience of induction - ie how long did it take for things to kick in?

Minshu · 21/09/2009 11:14

No experience here, snowfalls, but wishing you luck and will be following your progress, as I reckon mine will need that kind of encouragement (based on obstetrician's comments the other week, not just being pessimistic for the sake of it).

Minshu · 21/09/2009 11:16

And welcome, arolf - hope that the cramping is indicative of something else and that DP is just coming out in sympathy.

Gonnabamumma · 21/09/2009 11:33

Hey Minshu, thanks for letting me know your lo is still all over the show too, feel a bit reassured that baby hasn't got itself into a random position. Glad you managed to get back for nap too - is all about the power snooze, although I seem to fall asleep any time and place and drool copiously

Arolf, we also tried a curry and my DH suffered badly!! Didn't make a dent on me

Fingers crossed snowfalls that something might happen today for you and if not good luck for your induction.

Come on lazy babies, out, out, out!

arolf · 21/09/2009 11:40

nah, cramping was def. curry! baby is wriggly and kicking me like mad at the moment, so I'm thinking he's in no hurry to be born!

I'm wondering what other old wives tales there are that I haven't tried yet?
Have done:
curry
mercy shag
pineapple (copious amounts thereof)
clary sage oil on my bump/in the bath
long long walks
tempting fate by going out for the day without my notes!

are there any I've missed that people can recommend? I'm not touching caster oil, and raspberry leaf tea makes me vomit, so they're out!

I'm also thinking that artificial hormones are the only way this baby is going to be evicted Minshu - at least by telling myself that, anything else will be a bonus

Right, off for another lengthy walk now...

twinklegreen · 21/09/2009 11:40

snowfalls My induction went like this. Got to hospital at 10am, monitoring etc till 1.30pm when gel was inserted, felt tingling straight away, 'knew' I was definately in labour at about 4 ish, examined at 4.30pm and was 6cm dilated, contractions no more painful than my previous spontaneous labour. ds born at 6.50pm home at 10.30pm. Not a bad days work really!

nitnat84 · 21/09/2009 11:58

Congrats BigBang!
Well I am 41 weeks today and off for a stretch and sweep in a bit. Petrified! Have had loads of pressure down below since yesterday so hoping baby is finally engaging as last week was only 1/5th in! Problem is that I need to pee the whole time now and scared that when they insert fingers I may pee on them, lol. No idea what state the ladygarden is in either, so midwife may get a real shock. Oh god! So scared.

Thusnelda · 21/09/2009 12:13

Yes, well done bigbang! I'm glad you got her out so quickly! That'll be a good story for the midwife to pass on as well...

Things are happening here too! My due date was yesterday and nothing happened other than that I felt a bit dizzy with the funny weather. But first thing this morning - my boyfriend was just about to leave - I went to the loo and found the water didn't stop! Shouted after him, 'come back - my waters have broken!'. That was at ten to seven. Called the labour ward who wanted to send me to the day assessment unit at 9 or 10 o'clock but after I pointed out - again - that the head was not engaged at all yet and that I was told that there may be a risk of cord prolapse, the midwife said to come to the labour ward after all.
I had no idea just how much water there is! A litre I'm told, it felt more like I lost a litre at home already and than a further 4 or 5 at the hospital... All clear though. But every time the baby moved there was another gush.
They monitored the baby's heart for an hour or two - nice and strong - and there was a gentle but regular contraction activity too, which I felt nothing of. When the midwife examined me, the head was still free, but when the doctor finally came, the head had at last started to engage. So I was send home to wait for things to move on, if not, I'll be back in hospital tomorrow morning for induction.

Still no news from tigerfeet?

mummyhill · 21/09/2009 12:49

oohhhh good luck thusnelda hope things get moving for you now.

StealthPolarBear · 21/09/2009 15:04

Good luck Thusnelda
Getting very excited now about TF!
arolf, I found that wingeing lots about being fed up on MN and in RL brought on my labour - could have been a coincidence I suppose but I doubt it

StealthPolarBear · 21/09/2009 15:30

can I post some photos?
A at one hour old, waving at her fans
A at ten hours old, all that waving has worn her out

arolf · 21/09/2009 15:36

aaw, SPB, she's gorgeous! so cute!

I am whinging a lot at anyone who will listen comes near me, but to no avail.

good luck Thusnelda - just read your post to DP, and he said 'what, you mean your waters can break anywhere, at anytime?', so I'm glad to see that our ante natal classes weren't a total waste of his time... He's just shouted down to me to check if I know where my notes are. for the 4th time today. think the poor dear is starting to panic!

Minshu · 21/09/2009 15:40

Aw, stealth - what a gorgeous little cub!!

Thanks for the advice - will step up the whingeing.

Now waiting for a tiger cub!

Hope that the sweep went ok, nitnat. And good luck Thusnelda.

Thanks for the info on your induction, twinklegreen. Not a bad day's work at all!

Thusnelda · 21/09/2009 16:08

Thanks, everyone. Not much happening yet. Went for a walk, drank more raspberry leaf tea, but contractions, if there are any, stay more or less unnoticable.

Stealth! Gorgeous pictures!
Can't wait to post mine now. Well not long now, one way or another.

Arolf, it does feel like dragging the mensfolk along to classes is a bit pointless, doesn't it? Mine just seems to think that it's all terribly mundane, children are born everyday and everywhere and it'll all be alright. That's all true of course but it's not mundane to me at all and that's why I tried to soak up as much information as possible about what might lie ahead!
I've exchanged notes with a couple of my German friends today and they're all extremely surprised that I was send home again! Apparently, in Germany they keep you in and start induction pretty much straight away. I'm glad I've got a chance to start off naturally though and shall resume my climbing of stairs now...

Good luck to everyone else!

Snowfalls108 · 21/09/2009 17:46

Thank you twinklegreen - that is very encouraging!

So just had a bit more of a show - so maybe soemthing is happening anyway. Have been doing lots of walking around.

Also I've been to have my hair done, and had a pedicure, so feeling very glamours - probably the last time in a while hey!

Hope all is going well Thusnelda.

Love the pictures Stealth. Beautiful.

Very weird to think this time tomorrow I'll be in hospital.

arolf · 21/09/2009 18:03

have just heard from a friend who is due 10 days after me that she's had her baby. and another friend who was due on october 10th had her baby already too.

I know it's not a competition or anything, but I'm just so so so sick of hearing about everyone else having their early babies whilst I'm the size of a house, every part of me aches, I haven't slept in a month, and there is no sign of my baby ever being born. Has anyone ever just not had the baby, and reabsorbed it or something? I'm having nightmares that I will

is it wrong of me to feel utterly pathetic and a teensy bit jealous of my friends?

(sorry, need a whinge, and DP just laughed when he found me in tears at the computer - not much help!)

nitnat84 · 21/09/2009 18:08

Stealth- gorgeous pictures.
Well had my stretch and sweep and it was AGONY for me! Baby is still only 1/5th engaged and I am 41 weeks! Could not believe it. She said how unusual it is for first pregnancies. Now I am worried.
Told me Cervix was soft and I was 1cm dilated. She put down that I was 50% effaced and the baby was 'very prosterior,' I guess this is why is hurt so much. As soon as I left and got home I went to the toilet and I noticed my plug. Now feel very sore and nauseus I just want to cry
Just feel like things are never going to progress.Have another sweep booked for Thursday and then will be induced next monday if it comes to it.
Just thought I would share this with you all in case any of you have had a sweep and you can compare.

mummyhill · 21/09/2009 18:11

Awww Arolf it's perfectly normal to feel jealous and have erratic thoughts love. The baby will arrive but unfortunately they do it in their own sweet time. I am fully resigned to the fact that I have to wait till Weds to be given a date for induction and really hope they don't leave me to go 16 days over again this time! Although people asking haven't you had it yet/any signs? is pissing me off a lot more this time than i did the last two times iyswim.

newbie36 · 21/09/2009 18:28

I'm still lucking around too - EDD this Thursday, but absolutely no signs of the little one yet. Your sweep sounds like a nightmare Nitnat, you poor thing. Don't fancy the sound of that at all. I'm coping OK as long as I don't include having to go to the toilet a million times a day (and night), the weirdest dreams, and an unpleasant bout of SPD. Plus have had an unprecedented number of people call/text me today for news....MY EDD ISN'T TILL THURSDAY - GRRRRRR!!! Talking of which, have an appointment at the hospital for my 40 week check on Thurs, and not sure what to expect - when do they start offering sweeps, anyone know?
