Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

mumandlovingit how about these bras

Adding you to this list but not sure whether to put #3 or #4 as its 3rd child but 4th pregnancy. Have put #4 but please change this if you want #3 or if i've done it wrong! Can change your due date later on as well as I'm just guessing for you!

Welcome madamefreckle keeping everything crossed for you too!

also i meant to add, it seems i haven't escaped the huge boobs thing after all! up until about a week before i got a bfp, i was still giving my daughter a morning breastfeed. so therefore I hoped my boobs would be like 'whatever!' to all the hormones and not get bigger!
but unfortunately it seems i woke up today and they've grown.

ELM · 05/10/2009 12:29

Morning all.

Sorry to hear your news SilverBoots. Will be thinking of you.

madamefreckle hope you're okay?

Had my GP appointment on Friday, forgot how much of an anticlimax it is. Just take my name, admit that I can't actually remember the date my last period started and that's it.
Although the doctor did say a hearty 'well done!'

bambino02: how about a facial, or indian head massage with your car boot takings?

Wish my boobs were getting bigger - at the moment it only seems to be my flubber that is getting bigger. and bigger. and bigger.

LittleRobbo · 05/10/2009 13:49

greensnail i was fine inside the shop,it was outside where all the smokers sit that i couldnt bear, the smell is so bad,i gave up 6 months ago so i think that has something to do with it,they say ex-smokers are the worst,ex-pregant-smokers must be doubly worse!

Welcome all the new ladies, wow we are getting big!

minimoonumbertwo · 05/10/2009 14:01

hi everyone - wow getting really busy!

is nice to hear i am not the only one suffering too! sickness gets quite bad if i don't eat VERY regularly, so at least i can keep it under control with carbs - bit worried about the waistline tho - hope it calms down soon...is so funny, i'm sure my work colleage has guessed as i just sit here going mmmmmm calamari, no a doughnut, no cheese straws, no calamari definitely...

oh now have made myself hungry again!!

bambino02 · 05/10/2009 15:26

elm
yeh thats sounds nice but iv done my usual and spend my spare cash on my dd!!

im realy tiered today. i have a great pair of joggys from m&s. They still look stylish but are totaly comfy. 9pounds 50. bargain

minimoonnumbertwo

xx

dizzymac · 05/10/2009 15:57

Well, I;ve been for my Dr's appointment. No midwife appointment until AFTER my 12-16 wk scan.
Is this normal now? I'm under Bolton by the way.
Things have really changed since I had DD2

minimoonumbertwo · 05/10/2009 16:01

shiney big boobs are fabby! btw ELM i meant to say you are so right about anticlimax at dr's - i went with my ds and the dr was so unenthusiastic, ds was on top form so i made the dr sit through a full rendition of twinkle twinkle, the alphabet AND 1-10 to get some kind of reaction - she eventually said 'he's quite big isn't he?' NO HE'S A GENIUS!!!

have just sent my colleague out to get me some hula hoops - the closest thing to calamari i can think of...

ClaireDeLoon · 05/10/2009 16:10

Blimey I hope that isn't the case dizzymac I think I would really like to talk to the midwife or someone earlier than that

Can someone with experience of all this just talk me through what to expect from doc/midwife/hospital please? After you have been to the doctor what happens - does the midwife contact you or the hospital? Who arranges your scan? Do they just give you a date for the scan or can you change it if it doesn't fit (thinking of DP's work). When do you get to see a consultant?

I think if it's all gonna be a bit crap I'd rather pay the money to go visit my gynae privately and get him to talk through how the problems with my uterus might affect things.

I'm in England btw, same as most I guess. Any comments onwhat happens appreciated.

minimoonumbertwo · 05/10/2009 16:21

oh no dizzy really? i presumed they would be on the same day - think that's what happened with ds. what a pain.

Claire i THINK (can't totally remember) you have a scan & midwife appt at around the same time & the hospital will write to you to let you know the appt's. There will be a telephone number on the letter that you can ring to change the appointment if the one they've given you doesn't suit. You get given a pack of pregnancy notes at that first appt that you've got to carry with you everywhere. then you make your following appointments with the receptionist at that appt iyswim.

sorry if this is a bit vague - you could always ring up your gp's receptionist and she might be able to help?

mumandlovingit · 05/10/2009 16:21

greensnail thanks for adding me. i think it should be #3 but not sure how to change it.i will take a look at those bras, i havent seen that site before.

doctor told me to book an appoinment with the midwife at the doctors so i have, its next tuesday, thought it was this tues! i should be 6 weeks then fingers crossed. looking 6 months though in my jogging bottoms.can you not make an appointment to go and see the midwife? theyre supposed to do blood tests before 12 weeks now and check for somehting to do with downs syndrome. thats what they told me anyway.im positive you have to have your booking in appointment with the midwife before the scan or how do they know when to do the scan?

backache, boob ache and nerve in the top of my leg keeps twinging and hurting.not great today.no sickness though and no belly pains so hopefully good news.

bought some jogging bottomns yesterday as i cant find anything that fits me in my wardrobe.if you're looking for comfy clothes, cheap £3 jogging bottoms from asda are great, theyve got drawstring waists and are so comfy for round the house. their breast cancer t shirts with snoopy, betty boop etc on are long and cover belly up well too.ive bought the lot!

im rambling on and on now.can i blame the hormones yet? lol

dizzymac · 05/10/2009 16:27

I thought it was odd. He's booking me in with the hospital so maybe they'll send out 2 appointments, 1 for bloods and 1 for scan. That sounds more likely.
With DD 1 and 2 I had midwife appointments at about 7 weeks and then bloods/scan.
I have the most awful baby brain, I'm losing stuff, dropping stuff and just plain clumsy and forgetful. It's driving me bats. I feel ok today. Soreish boobs, but not much growth, and lightheaded with a little nausea ( It sounds like a recipe).

ELM · 05/10/2009 19:11

Claire, I'm guessing with your med history you might have consultant led care as well as your local midwife team. (if people have a 'normal' pregnancy they might never see a consultant, at least that is how it is in the Southampton area, or was two years ago!)I didn't have a good pregnancy with DS1 and spent a lot of time in and out of hospital- I am hoping things will go more smoothly this time!

I've been over on the nhs site and apparently if you live in London you can contact your midwife team directly. You can check if that service is available in your area here

It also explains the different roles of the people who give you antenatal care here

Scans etc still seem so far away!

ELM · 05/10/2009 19:14

minimoonumbertwo: love your way of rewarding the dr made me

ClaireDeLoon · 05/10/2009 20:06

Thanks for all the info everyone and thanks for the links ELM!

I felt a bit queasy today a few times (both times were after I had eaten) but not overly so. Seems silly to be wanting to feel sick

Woofie · 05/10/2009 21:25

dizzy - that sounds very late for the midwife appt. I've heard that they tend to take less interest if you've had 1 or more successful pregnancies, but I'd have thought you'd still need a booking in session before your scan. My pregnancy with ds was 4 years back now and you didn't even get 12-wk dating scans in York back then, but I believe it's been introduced now.

claire - i agree with elm, sounds like you'll probably have consultant involvement given your history. You're supposed to get more midwife appts (at least 10 I think?) with a first pregnancy anyway. From what i remember from last time, I made a booking-in appt with the midwife at around 8 weeks, and each time we'd arrange the next session there and then. She booked me in for the 20-wk scan at the hospital. God, it all seems AAAGES ago.

Hardly any symptoms today - tender boobs and bloated, but haven't felt sick like i did yesterday. But I did a digital test yesterday morning which came up as 2-3 weeks, so I think everything's moving along. Roll on 12 weeks!

greensnail · 05/10/2009 22:14

Hi all,

The routine here with appointments last year was booking appointment with midwife at about 10 weeks. Then a 12 week scan only if you want the triple test. I didn't want the triple test, so was going to get a private scan as didn't like the idea of waiting until 20 weeks for a scan. Ended up with emergency scans at 8 and 15 weeks anyway, so that wasn't needed!

I was planning to wait a while before seeing the doctor, however i've started itching quite badly this evening. I had obstetric cholestasis last time, so am expecting to get it again, but its not meant to start until 3rd trimester! I think its probably all in my mind at the moment, but think i should get myself along to the doctors just in case.

madamefreckle · 05/10/2009 23:09

Ooh greensnail, that sounds like a right pain. Hope you're ok. minimoon you DID so make me chuckle about your doc appt!

I think the wee bean is clinging on in there at the moment as no more spotting today
Seeing doc tomorrow so perhaps will get an early scan or something to make sure. Definitely feeling not at all normal: stupidly bloated and icky, and am thriving on that feeling as it must be a positive thing.

ChairmumMiaow · 06/10/2009 10:23

Can I join too? Just got a BFP about 15 minutes ago and I'm terrified now! But in a nice way.

DH will be away at least a few days a week from mid october to mid december so I'll have to do that horrid first trimester on my own. Eeek!

Already feeling sick and tired - yesterday I had decided I didn't feel pregnant and that the sickness was because of extreme toddler-induced tirednes but I just thought I'd make sure today!
