Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

I'm not really that worried, I think I read somewhere that its not retained in the body anyway, and thats why you have to take one every day. Its more the extreme dippy-ness thats wearing me down! Normally I'm very organised!

Celery · 27/10/2009 21:52

Thank you for your insight Cadmum, I know you're right. I will stop thinking about myself in this situation and put her first, and not talking to her because I feel awkward would be a ridiculous thing to do.

Happy Accident, Cadmum, I was Rosieposie ( or similar, can't even remember exactly ) on the March 2006 antenatal thread. He was my third, I have two older children.

HappyAccident · 27/10/2009 21:55

Yes, I do know you Celery (though not details iyswim). I think you might have been on the cusp of the month, as I think you popped into my very close ante-natal thread too on occasion.

Celery · 27/10/2009 22:06

Yes, that's right HA, he was due end Feb, but I knew from experience that he would probably be late. I was right! All three of mine have been exactly 7 days late, so I'm kind of expecting this one to go into July.

minimoonumbertwo · 28/10/2009 11:20

Morning - hope you're all having a good day so far. I very nearly didn't make it into work this morning cos of sickness but felt too guilty so am here huffing & sighing and disappearing off to the loo every 10 mins!

ginger i know what you mean about forgetting to take the tablets, i have actually started taking a different one now which is 2 a day, somehow 1 in the morning & 1 in the evening is easier to remember!

Oh am dreaming of a lovely hot bath right now, then snuggling down in front of a movie - oh could cry that i am at work! thank goodness for MN!

herewegrow · 28/10/2009 11:57

sending hugs minimoo it's nearly lunchtime, maybe a bit of fresh air will perk you up a bit.

thegreatescape · 28/10/2009 12:29

Hi all

Due 22nd June. Have just booked dr's appt for 10/11 (next available one apparently). I am 36 ('mature' end of the spectrum) and its number 2. Very much trying not to get excited yet.

Ladyemmalou83 · 28/10/2009 13:05

Hi everyone, havent been on for a while as trying to get my head round everything that happened last week. So sad to hear that we have lost a few more ladies, its heartbreaking.

I have my scan on friday at the EPU, im trying to be hopeful, but at the same time Im trying not to get over excited about the whole situation. Has anybody had a early scan? is it and ultrasound or a internal scan? and do I have to drink lots of water before hand? Sorry I know these are silly questions especially with all the recent sadness on here, but if anyone can answer them I would be really grateful xx

PS Bluefalcon; how are you? havent seen u in ages

Saucepanman · 28/10/2009 13:07

This thread moves fast! I am so sorry to hear more sad news from some of you.

I am mainly fancying a cheese based diet- all very plain at the mo. Going to a friends for dinner fri, she texted earlier to ask if I can eat fish pie- er no!

2 weeks today till scan (ages). Trying to be calm and positive. Would be much easier all round if I was telling people.

A word of warning people- do NOT take the kids to watch "Up" any time soon, unless you want to do some very unattractive and highly embarrassing blubbing in the cinema. Kind of gives the game away that you are up the duff!

HappyAccident · 28/10/2009 13:16

Why on earth can't you eat fish pie saucepanman? No reason at all to avoid it due to pregnancy. Or is it just that you don't fancy it?

Ladyemma - early scans are generally transvaginal (internal). It's a bit like a big dildo with a condom on, but if you relax then it shouldn't hurt at all. You don't need such a full bladder for this, but I would still advise having one when you go, as they may try a normal scan first. If you then need an internal one and your bladder is too full they will just ask you to go and have a wee.

Saw doctor this morning, who as predicted will only go by LMP date, so he has put me as due on 18th, which is garbage, and will of course move again when I have a scan. Am seeing midwife on Friday.

Ladyemmalou83 · 28/10/2009 15:08

Thanks Happyaccident, I did think it might be an internal scan when I was in the room last time having my bloods done, couldnt stop looking at the Stirops. DH will no doubt act like a teenager if I have to have something put up there men uh! I shall go prepared with full bladder and be prepared to offload it if I need too (and I'll make sure I do full leg and bikini line - I know they have seen it all before but its a bit wild at the mo ).

My 1st Midwife is on the 12th November. MIL is coming home from Spain to come along as DH will be away and she wants to be apart of it all.

muchchocolate · 28/10/2009 16:02

Hi all,

I was getting a bit concerned as I've not had any symptoms really and with my first I was so sick that I expected it this time too, but just back from walk in the park with my lo and I'm knackered!

In a way it makes me feel better as I should not be this tired from a stroll round the park unless I am pregnant!

I feel bad as we had a quiet morning with cbeebies on and now I feel like all I'm good for is lying on the couch - early night for me I think.

Hope everyone is doing ok - I can't believe how slowly time is going at the mo - just want it to be 12 weeks.

Good luck with your scan on Friday Ladyem

ClaireDeLoon · 28/10/2009 18:16

I haven't heard anything from the midwife team - seems everyone else is getting their appointments through for around 9 weeks. I'm 8+2 today so I suppose I would be seeing her next week?

I think I'll wait and see what the outcome of Friday's scan is before i call though I've still spotting off and on, sometimes pink but mostly brown, it's been nearly 3 weeks of this now, I'm feeling very down about it today

LittleRobbo · 28/10/2009 18:43

come on claire stay positive, nearly 3 wks and nothing has come of it yes? you know some people spot/bleed sometimes all the way through their pg. only one more day and your mind will be put at rest, everything will be fine just you see. get some chocolate and a lovely film on and relax

I am off to bed, half 6 and i am off to bed, nearly fell asleep eating tea! goodnite ladies. the shock emoticon is a lot like a yawn dont you think?

gizmo · 28/10/2009 19:53

Hi all

Sorry you're feeling anxious Claire - I guess that is the price we pay for pregnancy. I really hope your scan tomorrow is a positive step forward for you: do you think you'll feel differently about the spotting if you've had a good scan?

It's sad to see other people leaving the thread: I've never joined an antenatal thread this early before and it really rams home how much of a lottery pregnancy can be.

Celery, so sad to hear about your friend: one of my colleagues at work has just lost his first baby at around the 23 week mark. It's very hard to know how to play it: for a start I'm not meant to know (he took a couple of days off and I only know because our PA lady let it slip when we were chatting) but it must be very hard for him, having everyone carry on as if nothing has happened when his world must be upside down. Maybe I'll get a chance to make him a sympathetic coffee tomorrow.

Meanwhile I'm utterly knackered and nauseous, with periodic upswings of wild delight. Also planning a skiing trip for next March, although obviously I'll be a non combatant. Anyone have any idea about dealing with altitude when 6 months pregnant?

georgee · 28/10/2009 20:26

Hi all, just wanted to join and say hello. I'm due 19 June according to the calculator. I've put myself on the list but can't do the special symbol! Found out I was pregnant on our honeymoon, which sort of spoilt all those free bottles of champers that we kept being given in each new place we stayed ...

Hi Gizmo - I booked a skiing holiday for February before finding out, so I plan to roll about in the snow with DS and eat lots of cake Didn't think about the altitude though My Dad still seems to think it's perfectly reasonable to ski at 5 mths, but I won't be taking his advice...

NewhereHelp · 28/10/2009 22:55

Hey, try this for fun : sex predictor

Saucepanman · 28/10/2009 23:15

HappyAccident- yes it isn't that I can't eat it, but the thought making me heave at the mo! it does't take much, admittedly.

However, even if I start puking for Britain tomorrow, I am doing much better than this point in my previous 3 pregnancies, so am counting my blessings.

PorridgeBrain · 29/10/2009 02:08

Hi ladies

I am gradually convincing myself that I have had a missed miscarriage - please help me determine if I am being paranoid of not!

Some background (please bear with me) ....

I had a miscarriage in August at 5+1 which was my 2nd pregnancy (have a 2 year DD). I am 7+5 with this pregnancy, my 3rd pregnancy

When I discovered I was pregnant this time, I started taking Vitamin B6 and baby aspirin (not prescribed by the doc but had heard it can help avoid a miscarriage) and am still taking it every day. I also took a pregnancy test with a conception indicator that came out at 2-3 weeks (was expecting 1-2 as tested the day after my period was due). 8 days later a took another and it was still 2-3 so was convinced there was a problem. Didn't take one for 5 days and it then it said 3+ which made me feel positive however during the period when I was concerned I was reading of threads where the conception indicator was delayed in going to 3+ weeks but did eventually but when they went for early scans there was nothing there so this is in the back of my mind.

In terms of pregnancy symptoms I don't really have any except my nipples are sore to touch. What I am also paranoid about is that not only have I not lost weight but I lost a pound yesterday (bear in mind I have no morning sickness and am eating normally). Having said that I had no symptoms with my DD, although threatened MC at 11 weeks, but I'm sure I gained weight.

I think the combination of the delayed conception indicator, the weight loss (albeit v minor) along with the fact that I have self diagnosed myself baby aspirin means I have convinced myself that the baby aspirin and B6 are preventing me from recognising I am miscarrying.

Please help me determine if you think I am being paranoid as I'm clearly awake at 1 am worrying about this!

Thanks in advance

LittleRobbo · 29/10/2009 08:00

porridgebrain all i can say is worrying about it wont help its hard but try to relax about things a little. i am scared to 'diagnose' as such but if i were you i would try and reasonably think right,i have had no pain/cramps and no bleeding,so thats a positive thing right? have never heard of being able to 'prevent' an mc so cant comment on the baby aspirin or B6,sorry. really hope all is well for you,and remember the power of positive thinking

PorridgeBrain · 29/10/2009 08:24

Thanks LittleRobbo, you're right. Am feeling far more rational this morning Maybe it was a middle of the night panic!

ClaireDeLoon · 29/10/2009 09:49

Glad you're feeling better about things Porridge - I will say though that really those conception indicator tests are the work of the devil, designed to get you to spend more money on tests even though you know you're pregnant by preying on your fears.

Plus if you look at the break down of the statistics they show then the 2-3 week actually isn't all that accurate.

gizmo · 29/10/2009 09:49

Thanks MMH, the only reason that the altitude was on my mind is that I habitually struggle with it for the first couple of days (headaches, nosebleeds etc). Guess it's a side effect of living in the Fens normally.

Skiing at 5 months, eh? Well, DH dragged me down the most, ahem, entertaining black run in Tignes at about 11 weeks gone last time, but I'm not sure I'd fancy repeating the experience with a significant bump in front of me...I'm going to stick to hot chocolate and a bit of light sledding with DS1 and 2.

Celery · 29/10/2009 09:59

ooooooooooh, I feel so sick today. I'd forgotton how awful it is.
