Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

minimoonumbertwo · 27/10/2009 13:21

oh wow we are still growing and growing!! Congrats everyone.

barack i am really, really sorry, hope to see you back here after your next scan & toes crossed]]

cadmum thanks, I guess my chances are relatively slim then, I feel pretty much the same amount of sickness as with ds1. You are obviously very in touch with your body! When is your first scan?? I did hear of a lady who had natural twins then went on to have natural triplets!!! sobloodystupid i wonder if you are?! It would be strange to have such a strong feeling if it wasn't...

Am still v sick & tired but am almost grateful for that. Oh does anyone know if it's okay to drink coke during pg?? Now & then? I seem to remember it's a bad idea if you're breastfeeding.

Oh and i think someone posted on here a while back about the swine flu vaccine - is anyone planning on having it??

Hugs to all

orchidgirl · 27/10/2009 13:31

Just popping on to remove myself from the list. I have just got back from EPAU and unfortunately have discovered I have a MMC. Bean was there, but unfortunately no heart beat. Now I need to decide whether to let nature take its course or have an erpc.

Good luck, and I hope you all have a happy outcome.

minimoonumbertwo I don't have a scan booked yet... I haven't even managed to figure out the heath care system here. I can also live in hope that I am expecting two and that explains how sick and tired I feel rather than it just being down to age and too many children already!

sobloodystupid I hope that your feeling is right. I did think that the 'rule' was accidentally fall pg with #4 and then discover that it is actually 4 and 5 but I am sure that there are many, many exceptions... Would you be happy with twins?

I am not really sure that my parenting style would cope well with more than one at a time. I am a soft touch when it comes to newborns especially...

I should be taking the gang off to the craft store to stock up on Halloween/Autumn crafts to keep them busy for then next few days so that I can nap.

Cadmum · 27/10/2009 13:46

barak and orchidgirl: I am very sorry.

Feel free to use me as sounding boards if you have questions in the coming days/weeks. I have been down that route several times. I hope that nature takes it course and that you don't have to make any decisions.

barak It doesn't seem to matter if the pg. is a shock or much-sought after; you are bound to feel a roller-coater of emotions. Be kind to yourself and try to keep the lines of communication between you and dp open.

minimoonumbertwo · 27/10/2009 13:49

orchidgirl so very sorry, look after yourself xxxxxxxxx

gizmo · 27/10/2009 14:21

Oh that's sad Orchidgirl. I'm sorry.

Minimo - I'd have thought the occasional Coke is fine: it's not like you're mainlining the stuff. Rather depends on your philosophy about risk factors, though: I don't change my diet at all when pregnant (with the exception of cutting out alcohol for the first 3 months) because I am all devil may care about Soft Cheese Risks

minimoonumbertwo · 27/10/2009 14:40

Oh cool, thanks gizmo am much more relaxed this time - and brilliantly alcohol is about the last thing i want right now!

herewegrow · 27/10/2009 14:40

Minimo there are some quidelines about caffine intake during pregnancy think the latest is something like:

either 2 cups of instant coffee or
4 cups of tea or
5 cans of coke but best to check.

The occasional coke should be fine.

herewegrow · 27/10/2009 14:42

Icanneverthinkofagoodname · 27/10/2009 14:47

Orchird Girl and Barak I am so sorry for you. Will miss you on MN

Really hope things start improving for everyone from here on in. Hope all goes really well with you scans Claire and Littlerobbo

Have been actually sick for first time today. Quite good really because been a bit worried by lack of symptoms. Scan 2 weeks tomorrow so hopefully that will put my mind at rest somewhat.

Finding I am getting rather distracted from my work these days, reading all the posts on MN instead!

minimoonumbertwo · 27/10/2009 14:49

oh gosh thanks herewegrow FIVE cans?! I will have no teeth left!!

ClaireDeLoon · 27/10/2009 15:18

I'm so sorry orchidgirl

I wish I could say something useful instead of just stock trite phrases

Ilovemyterrier · 27/10/2009 17:00

Wow just scrolled through the 25pages you have all generated and feel hugely comforted.

Am 38 and just found out I'm 5weeks +4 with my first

DP is away abroad working so was feeling a little lost until I found you all.

Have added myself to the list (like Happy Accident I have no clue how to get the number symbol on my mac!)

LittleRobbo · 27/10/2009 17:43

I have good news!!! had 8 wk scan today and everything is progressing well, saw little bean and heartbeat, you can imagine the joy for dh and i after the longest 2 weeks waiting. i could have sat and watched that screen all night i tell you thanks claire my thoughts are with you for friday. Its my birthday on saturday,i will be doubly (a word??) celebrating

Cadmum · 27/10/2009 18:30

Yeah LittleRobbo! Brilliant news. Happy Birthday for Saturday. I am sure that it will be a far more relaxing celebration knowing that you are progressing as expected.

Cadmum · 27/10/2009 18:30

Sorry, I meant to add a Welcome to Ilovemyterrier!

Celery · 27/10/2009 18:42

So sorry to those of you leaving the thread

I am trying to sit tight and not think about anything for a few weeks. I guess because I've had three healthy pg, I kind of just assume that everything will be okay, but it's such early days for me. Am only 5 weeks and it's pretty foolish to assume anything at this stage.

My very good friend lost her twins at 23 wks at the weekend, and its such a heartbreaking time. I feel pretty crap that I told her I was pg just the day before it happened. I don't suppose she will want to speak to me now, which is totally understandable.

That is great news about your scan Littlerobbo.

Cadmum · 27/10/2009 19:03

Oh Celery... How awful for your friend.

Everyone handles these situations differently but I lost one of my closest friends over the loss of our twins because she assumed that I wouldn't want to talk to her as she was expecting a 'surprise' baby. She had complained to me about how she didn't really want to be pregnant and was worried that I would resent her pregnancy. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

In my case, I really needed to be able to talk to people who could just listen to what I had to say without judging... One of the worst things was that everyone around us walked on eggshells and seemed happy to talk about us but not to us. The look of pity in everyone's eyes coupled with their silence or whispers was unbearable.

ClaireDeLoon · 27/10/2009 19:13

LittleRobbo that's fantastic news

Celery I'm so sorry about your friend that's so awful

HappyAccident · 27/10/2009 19:54

I probably would know your old name Celery, just because of when you had your first, but no worries if you want to keep it secret.
Very sorry to hear about your friend. I think it's good that you told her beforehand about your pregnancy, as you don't need to worry about when or how to break the news, and she won't have to feel that you avoided the subject or anything.

Welcome ilovemyterrier. Mine is a mac too - I guess Steve Jobs doesn't think they are a necessary symbol!
Welcome also to newherehelp and herewegrow.

Great news about your scan littlerobbo.

Sorry for your news Orchidgirl and Barack. Having being through a mmc myself, and being close to needing a transfusion when things started to happen naturally (and having had a friend in the same situation recently), I would always recommend the erpc route.

Apols if I've forgotten anyone. It's hard to keep up and remember everyone's situation yet.

greensnail · 27/10/2009 20:26

Hi all, Fab news LittleRobbo, so pleased for you.

Sorry to hear your news Orchidgirl and Barack thinking of you both

I started getting some dark brown discharge today, so hoping it doesn't develop into anything more. I had quite a bit of bleeding in my last pregnancy and everything turned out fine so am hopeful that all will be well this time too.

minimoonumbertwo I'm just about living on coke at the moment as it helps my nausea, am probably on about 3 cans a day. Hope the sickness eases up soon, or i'll have no teeth left!

monthlymayhem · 27/10/2009 20:58

Just adding myself to the spare spot at the bottom (30th).

Sorry to hear some have had to leave already, and hope you're getting lots of support x

GibberingGinger · 27/10/2009 21:31

Can you overdose on folic acid? I can never remember whether I've taken one that morning so normally end up taking one in the evening just in case. Just another one of the things I just can't seem to keep in my head at the moment!

Hello to all the newcomers, I'm glad the list is growing, though I'm really sorry that some people have had a miscarriage. It makes me cry. Sad things do at the moment. (normally I feel sad but don't actually blub). Goes with the extreme tiredness. At least I've not had any sickness!

greensnail · 27/10/2009 21:36

I don't think an extra tablet would be a problem GibberingGinger, you could probably end up taking that much if you were eating a lot of folic acid rich foods anyway. And some people get prescribed a higher dose if they've had problems in the past i think. Maybe you could swap to taking them in the evening though, if that's easier to remember.

HappyAccident · 27/10/2009 21:41

Oh crap - I'd forgotten all about folic acid. That's what happens when you're not actually ttc! Must see if I have any pregnacare left lying around from other pregnancies that will tide me over til I can get to Boots.
