Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

LittleRobbo we're in the same boat I think. My next scan is Friday 30th, we'll keep strong together. You still bleeding and back pain free?

The hospital called and my HCG levels have gone up from 6,000 last Wednesday to 31,600 today. The doctor says this is a good sign. Assuming no more bleeding/cramps I just have to sit tight for two and a half weeks.

I hate all this worry.

ClaireDeLoon · 13/10/2009 19:05

Sorry Emmalou - welcome and congratulations. A lovely due date for you

I went to see my GP last week when I was 5 weeks. Could book an appointment for next week?

ClaireDeLoon · 13/10/2009 19:06

Littlerobbo just re-read my post - I meant bleeding free and back pain free!

LittleRobbo · 13/10/2009 19:44

claire fantastic news about your HCG levels my scan date is 27th,feels an eternity away. no more nasty symptoms for me so far thank god. i think we've gotto keep remembering that hundreds of thousands of women bleed through their PGs,and have all kinds of hurdles to face.we'll stay positive together!

Congrats all the new ladies. what a brilliant time to be PG,strictly AND x factor, who wants to go out anyway!!!!!

Woofie · 13/10/2009 19:50

Hello emmalou Congrats on graduating from the June bus

Claire - those HCG levels do sound really promising. Try not to worry? (I know, )

I'm with pony on the rainbows and puppies - there's basically no way you can know how things are until the 12 wk scan, but chances are we'd know if something was wrong. Got to stay positive.

Had a wave of nausea this afternoon, which was quite reassuring, although as soon as it started of course I was wishing it to stop... Some people are never satisfied

Ponymum · 13/10/2009 20:14

Clairedeloon I have my fingers crossed for you.

emmalou The only reason to go to the GP early on would be in order to get yourself in the system quicker. e.g. if you are hoping to have the baby at a busy/popular hospital there might be a long wait for your first scan if you leave the booking in appt too late. It varies from place to place but the usual steps are appt with GP, then a "booking in" appt with the midwife, then the midwife will send your details to your chosen hospital to get you on the list for the first scan. I left it too late last time and had my "12 week scan" at 16 weeks, which I found quite distressing.

Ladyemmalou83 · 13/10/2009 22:33

Hey Woofie (Waves like a loon)

Ponymum Thanks for the advice. I'll prob leave it for another 2 weeks or so then. There is only one hospital in Exeter, so I dont really have a choice on places. Based on LMP Im only 4+3, so its very early days yet.

Im so excited but its all a bit daunting at the same time. DH is very happy, keeps patting my tummy and saying he has super sperm. Wasnt too happy when I told him no more sorting out the cats little tray, but he understands why now.

BarakObamasTransitVan · 14/10/2009 10:46

Ladyemma I went to my GP last week because I thought I might be pg (utterly unplanned) and wanted to check that it couldn't be something else. I guess I would've been about 4 wks. He told me to do a test this week if I really wanted to be sure although there wasn't really any need (been slightly in denial, see, despite GP being absolutely convinced) and then to call the surgery to arrange my booking in appointment. Apparently in my area the mw likes to see you really early - 8 wks - so the earlier you call after a BFP the better. As I'm still in slight denial I've not called yet though
Will do this afternoon!

BarakObamasTransitVan · 14/10/2009 10:48

btw last time round was nearly 10 years ago, and booking in was at 12 weeks so I was quite surprised when the GP told me to call so early on.

Icanneverthinkofagoodname · 14/10/2009 16:06

Claire I really hope everything goes well for you. Was speaking to my mum a couple of days ago and she says she bled quite a lot when pregnant with me and for 3 months (quite heavily) with my sister but we were both born healthy with no problems so there's lots of positive stories.

I have what might sound like a stupid questions about weeks. I am today on 7 weeks exactly from LMP so does that mean 2mo my baby is doing what it says in week 8 in pregnancy planners / books? Thats what I have figured out but just wanted to make sure.

MrsC09 · 14/10/2009 18:18

Good question Icanneverthinkofagoodname - I was wondering the same thing. I read that wk 7 is an important week for the baby's growth but not sure if that's this week or next week (I'm 6+3).

I finally got my booking letter thru today! 1st appointment 29th October & scan 26th November - So excited but feels so far away. I can't believe I've only known i'm pregnant for 2 1/2 weeks as feels like ages!!

BiscuitStuffer · 14/10/2009 18:34

Well just to put the spanner in the works, I was wondering if it was the baby's actual week which makes it 2 weeks less than our pregnancy (because we don't actually conceive until 2 weeks in to our cycle. So, if we're 7 weeks, the foetus is actually only 5.

RnB · 14/10/2009 18:38

It would be the time since lmp not 'actual' age that is referred to

Ladyemmalou83 · 14/10/2009 19:03

Barak Thanks for that. My mother rung me today to moan at me for not making me an appointment with my GP, so 2moro I'll make a call for an appointment on monday. Dentist & Doctors in one day: lovely (just to pre-warn you all, Im a total needle phobic and have never had a blood test )

Had to POAS this morning just to check this is real: and it is

upsydaisysexstylist · 14/10/2009 19:15

Hi can I join, due on 1oth .third pregnancy, but our eldest was stillborn at 34weeks so it's going to be an anxoius 8mnths. still got my ds (19mnths) to keep me busy, just got to get him to sleep through by june or preferably next week as the sudden tiredness has hit. Feels really strange this week as have MIL staying but have not told her yet, she must think I am a lazy cow, I was in bed with ds for afternoon nap when she arrived and went back to bed this am. In my defence he is teething and very keen on booby again mummy all bloody night.

Welcome Upsydaisysexstylist

Love the name BTW

AllGoingSouth · 14/10/2009 20:18

Well I went for my "reassurance" scan today and apparantly my dates are wrong! Am only about 5/6 weeks pregnant and not the 7 1/2 that I thought I was. Still they managed to find a heartbeat on the scan, so that has made me feel slightly better and I have got to go back in 3 weeks for a dating scan. They have now got to rearrange my 1st midwife and nuchal scan appointments.

Must have ovulated really late during my cycle - does explain how I managed to get pregnant though - cos I was sure we hadn't "done it" at the right time of the month!!

greensnail · 14/10/2009 20:42

I had my first GP appointment today, so it all feels a bit more real now. Am feeling absolutely exhausted today too and am thinking of going to bed very soon.

AllGoingSouth Think I'm going to find out i either ovulated very late or very early too, as I also don't think we "did it" at the right time! Am looking forward to dating scan now to find out for sure.

orchidgirl · 15/10/2009 07:27

Hi greensnail, I had my appointment on Tuesday, and you are right, it does make it seem more real.

My doctor, although lovely about my pregnancy after so long, was quick brisk ... right you're pregnant, here's the pregnancy pack, here's the paperwork, here's the appointment for the midwife (4th Nov) and I will get you're scan sorted for weeks 11-13. I suppose I should have expected this, afterall pregnancy is an everyday occurance ..

What was interesting was his advice if I suffered from cramps or bleeding. For spotting or worrying cramps phone the surgery immediately, even overnight or weekends. For heavy bleeding straight to A+E. It is nice to have this spelt out so clearly as last time I just didn't know what to do. Anyway hopefully this advice is unnecessary.

Hope everyone is feeling well this morning.

PorridgeBrain · 15/10/2009 08:08

Can I join in too! Have been lurking on here for a week but finally feel brave enough to out myself (had a mc in August so a bit wary this time).

Am due on the 11th with no. 2. No pregnancy symptoms whatsover but then didn't with my DD all the way through and was convinced it was all a myth!

Anyways, I'd better update the list

I'd like to join too please! Am due June 12th with DC2, it's 7 years since my last pregnancy so it all feels new (wierdly). No symptoms apart from being bloody tired at really inconvenient moments. Don't actually believe I'm pregnant but there you go.

Hey biscuit stuffer, my pregnancy book (one of them) has baby age in weeks and pregnancy in weeks next to each other so week 7 is definitely week 7 of the pregnancy.

BiscuitStuffer · 15/10/2009 15:00

This site spells it out - I am always confused!

sunshineday · 15/10/2009 15:03
