Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

LittleRobbo good luck for tomorrow and I'm glad the spotting and backache has eased off.

This si such a worrying time it's awful, time seems to go so slowly.

I told my mum today she was pleased!

So sorry for all those experiencing bad nausea, I hope you're all feeling OK, can't be nice. I remember reading once that the older you are the less likely you are to affected by ms - wonder if that is holding out for us all on this thread?

Oh and welcome to all the new ladies and congratulations - can't believe how many of us there are when we're only halfway through the 'due month' on the list

Woofie · 12/10/2009 19:29

Hello everyone,

Just checking in here to try and make myself feel more pregnant... Besides my rapidly expanding tummy (at 5 weeks??) I'm still pretty much symptom-less.

Really glad the scan went well claire and the spotting's stopped littlerobbo

Welcome and congratulations fillybuster

I'm with those of you who feel like you're making the whole thing up. If I weren't 2 weeks late, I'd have no idea I was pg. Roll on the 12 week scan...

orchidgirl · 12/10/2009 19:42

Good evening all. A bit of advice required. I have my first doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, and don't know what to expect, or what I am supposed to ask.

I imagine he will ask about family health on both sides, but what else? Also how many appointments would I expect to get scheduled. Do they basically book you in and say come back in 6 months? How can I get him to agree to blood tests or an early scan?

I am not taking DH with me. Is this normal? I just don't see the point of him taking a half day off if I don't know if there is any benefit of taking him with me. Which appointments are useful to have DH in attendance?

Any advice, gratefully received.

dizzymac · 12/10/2009 19:50

Hello. I wasn't asked about my family health. He did ask when my last period was and how I was feeling. He gave me a rough due date and asked which hospital I wanted. I was then told he would write to them and I'd hear from them re. scan and ante natal.
I heard within the week.
Some places will ask you to book in with the midwife when you have left the doctor.

He did check about folic acid but I'm already taking them.

That was it really.

If you have any questions I suggest writing them down as I have terrible memory loss when i need info from the Dr. ( and PG brain is not helping either)

Hope that is all useful and all goes well.
good luck

greensnail · 12/10/2009 19:54

orchidgirl Don't expect too much from your doctor's appointment tomorrow - they probably won't say much. From what I can remember my doctor just checked if there was any relevant medical history that would be important, and if I was on any medication, discussed what blood tests etc I would want, gave me some leaflets and told me to make an appointment with the midewife (for when i was about 10 weeks, I think).

The first appointment with the midwife is much more in depth, probably much more worth your DH being there for that if you'd like him to be.

Can't remember exactly how many appointments you get, but its a few more for 1st pregnancies than for subsequent ones. They start of pretty infrequently and then you get more appointments towards the end of your pregnancy.

I have first GP appointment on wednesday, although I've already told her I'm pregnant when I was there with DH and DD last week. Still looking forward to making it official though.

theperfectbaguette · 12/10/2009 20:06

Hello everyone - can I join. I've got no symptoms and was sure AF was coming - in fact I've been carrying tampax round in my handbag for days. Was due on Saturday and tested then and got a BFN, but did another this afternoon and got a BFP. Apart from sore nips and late period feel compleatly normal.

We've only been seriously trying for 2 months so it all seems too good to be true. My test instructions were in French and I sort of staggered out of the loo clutching the stick n paper and thrust it at DP so he could double check I was reading it right. He's just finished a glass of champagne and I had a lemon squash.

I'm 34, and this will be my first

Whhhhhhheyyyyyyyyyy heyyyyyyyyyyyy

Sure its probably been answered but when are you supposed to go and see the doctor and let them know. I'm not actually registered with one here (yet) and will be in the UK for most of the next 3 months with work, staying in various friends spare rooms! God hope Im not not really sick. Wondering if it would be better to see a doctor whilst I'm there (though I was imaginging that I'd have a baby - if it comes to that - in France)

theperfectbaguette · 12/10/2009 20:08

Oh yeah fo- apparently I'll be due on the 20th .......Dohhhhhh

AllGoingSouth · 12/10/2009 20:45

Have just added myself to the list - L2D you are no longer the oldest!

Have been having lots of cramp and backache, have got an early scan on Wednesday (due to previous mc) so am keeping my fingers crossed.

Love2dance · 12/10/2009 21:51

Hey, Welcome new additions. Orchidgirl depending on where you live you might want to discuss which hospital you want to go to(if you have more than one local-ish option and the one you want is a bit out of your catchment area and is popular sometimes they won't take you if they are booked up for your due date).
These days we're supposed to be able to go where we want to though. I wanted to avoid my nearest referral hospital due to relatively high maternal mortality rates a few years ago and not very good ratings, but my alternative choices are pretty popular so I'll have to wait & see. Of course one being next door to huge new shopping centre and the other having an Italian deli with fab chocolate cake nearby have got nothing to do with it .
Hey AllGoingSouth just found out about a friend of a friend who has just got preggers by accident at 48!!! so I don't feel so elderly after all.

Night all.

BiscuitStuffer · 12/10/2009 22:14

Is anyone else finding that they're particularly thirsty just before they go to bed??

So damned inconvenient as I'm trying to reduce nightly wee stops.

Calbourne · 13/10/2009 00:45

Hello - delighted to see this thread. I'm now 7 weeks with a due date of 2 June. Very excited, but I have continuous nausea at the moment and just can't face cooking, which is a bit of a problem as I have 2 little boys that need fed.

Any tips on handling the nausea? I didn't have any with my first 2 pregnancies, so am completely stumped.

AlwaysHopefull · 13/10/2009 07:36

BiscuitStuffer, I'm thirsty all the time, not just at night, but thinking about it, it was really bad yesterday evening, so maybe I've just not noticed it getting worse before. My bladder is a concern. It's not been tip top since DD was born and all of a sudden, I'm thinking pelvic floor exercises might be worth my attention!!

Am feeling queezy this morning for the first time. Thought I'd be ill if I didn't eat the second I opened my eyes and now my weetabix is not sitting at all well!! Happy days - it's all reassurance that the hormones are still flowing!

Washersaurus · 13/10/2009 08:32

Morning all! I have been fighting nausea with continuous snacking, but am struggling around tea time when my nausea is at its worst and I have to cook dinner.

Yesterday, I called the doc's to make my first appointment to be informed that the midwives no longer attend the surgery and that they are now all based quite a distance away (at the top of a big hill) at a childrens centre. I am a bit as they already stopped the HV sessions at the surgery just before DS2 was born.

Are they trying to make it more difficult? I don't drive and am going to have to walk up there. No problem now but not sure how I'll fancy as I get bigger! I'm not sure why they bothered building a fancy new surgery if they aren't going to offer the services people need there....

BiscuitStuffer · 13/10/2009 12:51

Hello everyone....

I have that awful feeling of dread and I hope it's just my paranoia. I still have stretchy goings on in my pelvis but that's about it. I want this babba so much and it feels as if it's all abit on tenderhooks because DH only agreed to a 3rd for my sake and it feels as if I only have a one pot chance at it. I would love 4 kids really but that's not going to happen. If we MC I don't think he would try for another beyond a certain time and so I feel a HUGE pressure for this to all work out. Oh dear

sunshiney · 13/10/2009 13:14

Hi biscuitstuffer, sorry to see you are feeling a bit down. I'm sending you positive vibes! We all just need a bit more time to pass so we can feel a bit more secure, don't we. Roll on twelve weeks! I told my best friend this morning, she was very excited for me, but for some silly reason it made me feel now i might lose the baby! Kind of as if telling someone so early is tempting fate too much.

Icanneverthinkofagoodname · 13/10/2009 13:57

Hi Biscuit Stuffer,
I am sure you will be fine, Last week I was feeling very sick for 2 days and the next day I felt great. Was very worried but did another test was def still pregnant. Its strange though some days I feel really quite sick and other days I feel fine. Does anyone else have this?
Also I find it hard to eat as much as I used to. Cant seem too finish full portions which is very annoying as I am trying to get lots of vitamins and stuff but cant fit any more food in. Have strange urge not to snack also which is not like me. Cant even be bothered much with chocolate .

Icanneverthinkofagoodname · 13/10/2009 14:00

Oh also I have already told pretty much everyone I know. I just cant keep secrets. I think it is much more real now everyone knows and think I would tell most people if I had a miscarriage anyway. Has anyone else told lots of people or am I the only one?

Ponymum · 13/10/2009 14:25

Icannever I've told no-one yet. I need to feel more secure about it sticking first.

I had my first physio appt this morning (because of my bad SPD last time). She said I have to stop all heavy lifting, crossing legs, standing on one leg, etc, and to drastically reduce how often I pick up DD. I am only 5 weeks and she has already given me a support hip belt! But she said I have to do this in order to prevent the return. She said she still has an image burned in her mind of the first time I came to see her, in a wheelchair at 20 weeks pg and unable to stand up or get on to the bed without a lot of help and screams of pain. It was a shock when she said that to me as I had actually forgotten how bad it was. I really hope I don't have to go through that again.

BiscuitStuffer · 13/10/2009 15:06

The thing with the pregnancy testing at this stage, is that it will always show positive as it takes a while for the levels to drop after a miscarriage, so I can't even reassure myself by peeing on a stick

Ponymum · 13/10/2009 15:23

biscuitstuffer Thanks for that. I just peed on a stick again last night to reassure myself. Let's try to forget the paranoia and think of cute bunnies and pretty rainbows instead. (Apologies - you may or may not get used to my misguided attempts at humour.)

Ladyemmalou83 · 13/10/2009 16:35

Hello everyone

Please may I join the lovely june 2010 group? I have just come over from the June bus. My EDD is 19th June, which is my birthday and my 1st wedding anniversary, so its all very exciting. Bit nervous as have has 2 mc already, so I'll probably check my knickers alot, but they do say 3rd time lucky and with the due date Ive got, its got to be a good thing. This is our first so any advice you can offer me would be lovely. When do I need to go to see my GP, straight away?

ClaireDeLoon · 13/10/2009 16:58

Hi everyone hope you're all well. Had some red blood last night. It's tailed off to a brown smudge, but I'm absolutely convinced it's another miscarriage. Waiting for hospital to call back with blood test results to see if HCG has risen since last week.

I have my docs appointment tomorrow - will still go and talk through what has happened with my GP I think.

LittleRobbo · 13/10/2009 18:46

oh claire i did exactly that, totally convinced myself, its a way of protecting yourself i think. but you dont know yet, stay hopeful. i had my scan, everything still in tact so far, have to go back in 2 weeks,to early for heartbeat etc. oh my,what a long 2 weeks this is going to be. Claire, try and rest, sending hugs to you.xxxxx

RnB · 13/10/2009 18:51

Oh Clairedeloon I really hope you're ok and that the bleeding is nothing serious

Congratulations and welcome LadyEmmaLou - that is also my birthday and the day my ds1 was due (he arrived on the 22nd)
