Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

XX scared

Washersaurus, that is so freaky. My Dh dreamt I had twins, and I have a feeling it/they will be twins!
Will have to wait ages for a scan though.
Congratulations everyone!

Washersaurus · 08/10/2009 20:45

I'm 33 btw if anyone cares

sbs - in one way I think if it is #3 and #4 then at least that will be it for our family...definitely! Although, it is going to take some planning to squeeze another one DC in to our 2 bed terrace. We've got nowhere to put 2!

I'm a bit of a negative thinker pre-scan (even though no probs with previous pregnancies) so I try not to think about stuff too much before then. Mind you, I haven't even bothered calling the doc's yet.

madamefreckle · 08/10/2009 20:45

So great that so many people are here! Have to tell you though that i feel rough rough rough. Due to icky stomach upset thing i have been advised not to eat for 24 hours. However, not eating is barely an option as regular nibbling is the only way for me to stave off the pregnancy queasiness. So i'm damned if i do and damned if i don't. But blimey i fancy a bit of marmite on toast. Surely if i feel like eating, i should??

Woofie · 08/10/2009 21:51

greensnail - I think I'm basically in agreement. I certainly wouldn't want an invasive test which put the baby at risk whatever the outcome of the nuchal screen. But I think I'd like some time to prepare if it is high risk - but then it can of course show high risk when everything is actually progressing normally, so that would entail 6 months of needless worry. Since I'd also certainly go ahead and have the baby whatever the outcome, perhaps it's better not to know..? Guess I can always cancel the nuchal!

Welcome mrsalwaysright and washersaurus

That's a good amount of hcg claire - twins, triplets..?

I'm really busy at work at the moment, and since I'm hardly having any symptoms, keep forgetting that I'm pregnant and then getting a little moment every couple of hours when I remember...

Love2dance · 08/10/2009 23:46

Evenin' All. Thanks so much for the nice messages about my mum. LittleRobo you're right about being able to open up here (not that I can't to mates but people aren't always around for a chat).

I just enjoyed a lovely piece of white chewy toast (made with "hard dough bread" - try it - makes fab toast)smothered in butter and a cocoa. I know it's bad to eat late but I was hungry.

Now I'm dreaming of chicken Kiev...

Great news about your scan Den26.

Up early tomorrow for last commute to Cambridge for this week!
Time for bed ZZZZzzzz

RnB · 09/10/2009 06:59

Congratulation to all the new ladies! I can't keep up! Really looking forward to getting to know you all.

Update on my brother: still in intensive care (has been since monday ) He has a strep infection which started as a sore throat, which went on to cause multiple organ failure. Things are however improving.

ClaireDeLoon · 09/10/2009 08:13

Hope he will be OK RnB, thinking of you

orchidgirl · 09/10/2009 13:02

Hello, can I join. I only tested on Monday as I had been on holiday and assumed delayed period was due to the travel. I am now 6wks and due on 4th.

I am a bit worried as I had innoculations before going away and took Malarone for 2 weeks while we were away. Added to a previous miscarriage and symptoms varying by the day, I am a bit emotional to say the least. Doctor's appointment is next Tuesday, and I am hoping to get an early scan to confirm everything is OK.

I am 40, and I think the medical term for a pregnant woman of this age is geriatric. How the medical profession love to make us feel good about ourselves...

ClaireDeLoon · 09/10/2009 18:18

EPU called and booked me in for a scan on Monday morning. However just had some blood when went to the loo combined with feeling a bit crampy so I suspect that Monday won;t be good news

sunshiney · 09/10/2009 18:34

Hi claire, I hope you are okay. I am thinking positive thoughts for you.

Fabi76 · 09/10/2009 19:08

Claire I hope you get good news on Monday. I'm also sending you positive energy

Woofie · 09/10/2009 19:21

Welcome orchid - geriatric!!??? I remember a friend of my mum's telling me that she was termed an "elderly primagravida" at 27 but that was years ago. You'd have thought they'd have worked on the sensitivity of their terminology since then.

Claire - really hope everything's OK.

greensnail · 09/10/2009 19:55

Thinking of you Claire, take it easy over the weekend and hope you get good news on monday.

LittleRobbo · 09/10/2009 20:13

clairedeloon i know you must be worried but try and stay positive.try and rest.

ClaireDeLoon · 09/10/2009 20:39

Thanks for your good wishes everyone, I guess only time will tell.

Greatgoing · 10/10/2009 09:32

Orchid
Just lurking and posting to reassure you that 'geriatric' is used for anyone over twenty-five. It is simply a medical generalisation for anyone past a youthful pregnancy, although I know it makes one think of old ladies. In one way it is a relief that political correctness hasn't taken over medicine too. Don't be too offended; most people on this site/thread would be termed geriatric too!

Ponymum · 10/10/2009 13:01

Hello all. I am due 15th June with my second. I am happy to continue the trend of raising the average age on the thread; I have just turned 41 and was convinced I would be the oldest one here, so glad I'm not alone.

I am so, so thrilled to be pregnant as I really want DD to have a sibling and didn't know if it was going to happen at all given how long it took to get pregnant the first time. I am rather nervous as my last pregnancy was truly awful, but I have come into this with my eyes open, and am a lot more assertive about getting early attention this time around. Last time I had dreadful SPD (in a wheelchair for months) so I have already requested an immediate appointment with a physio to get me started off with the right exercises. I have to keep telling myself to be pushy this time and not be embarrassed about it.

Good luck everyone for the first trimester. Looking forward to getting to know you all so I can stop being so painfully polite.

sobloodystupid · 10/10/2009 13:42

congrats Ponymum! rnb hope your brother is making good progress and hope all is well with you clairedeloon. fingers crossed ..

sunshiney · 10/10/2009 15:27

Anyone else getting a lot of headaches? The nausea wouldn't be so bad if my head wasn't hurting too...

LittleRobbo · 11/10/2009 09:52

morning ladies i hope everyone is well. i have had some very light brown spotting this morning, obviously i am thinking the worst. dh is trying to make me think rationally. i'll go gp in the morning and hopefully get epu appointment asap.

ClaireDeLoon · 11/10/2009 12:31

LittleRobbo I hope everything is OK I have everything crossed for you.

RnB · 11/10/2009 14:52

Hope all is ok LittleRobbo and clairedeloon . Thinking of you both x

nightmareonELMstreet · 11/10/2009 15:10

Hi everyone,
Claire, LittleRobbo hope you are ok. RnB hope your brother is doing better.

Welcome to all the newbies..

No posts from me recently because the exhaustion has hit. and the morning sickness. Big Time. Throwing up several times a day..urgghhh.

Feel terrible because I keep packing my DS1 off with family members so I can sleep. Also having to remind myself everyday that
a) the morning sickness and exhaustion do eventually wear off
b) I am very happy and excited to be pregnant

Hope you're feeling better madamefreckle?

Just a quick, hello and congratulations to everyone. I've got my scan date through for the 17th November. It seems so close I'm really surprised. I think I'll be about 11 weeks then.

Feeling a bit nervy today. All my ligaments/ muscles seem to be stretching and each ache is really stressing me out. I have this real fear that it won't last. It's not based on any fact, just my pessimistic personality. I'm trying to stay positive.
The tiredness is bad and I'm getting the odd craving for cheese and pickle . I've had a little nausea but I can't believe I'm wishing it on myself just so everything feels more real.
