Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

Hmmm..DH is still not home There is a sad looking Goldie at the top of the tank and some burnt cod in the oven..luvly jubbly!!!

Need a laugh? I did, go to the 'only joking' section and look at 'men R' can't remember last bit...look at the different ways in which we shower.....hysterical!

Enthusia · 15/06/2005 18:43

ChaCha

Got confused for a minute there and thought you had actually cooked fancy goldfish for his tea!! Sorry.

I am pleased to say all my goldfish are still alive - for once! In Thailand they never faired so well. Couldn't bury them either, or put them down the toilet so had to fling them out of window into V.large lake like thing below - either that or if they were good they might have sprouted wings and flown to upwards!!!

rodeo1 · 15/06/2005 19:51

Hi girls,

Sorry to hear your poorly Chacha and sorry about your fish I used to keep fish but they all used to die on me. The worst is when they're not quite dead and bobbing on the top on their side!

Enthusia, I thought chacha had cooked goldfish for tea too!!

Hamster - scan tomorrow? How brill - you kept that quiet!! Let us know how you get on! Good luck!

Have to say I've not really suffered from ms in any pg and I've got 1 of each - sorry to rubbish the theory Bains!! Look at the link I posted on 5 June down the bottom of this thread, it's a questionnaire based on all those old wives tales, not sure of it's credibility but it is fun to do!!

Anyway thanks for all the scan dates girls, will pop them on now x x x

Did I mention I'm 20 weeks TODAY!!!

Hello all,

Anyway, hope everyone is good and ms is under control. Mine is slowly subsiding although I still have days when I think why am I doing this!!! DD keeps telling everyone that I am having a baby although she doesn't really know what it means. My scan is on 4th July at 22 weeks, don't know why I could not have it at 20 weeks but there u go!

Take care all x

ChaCha · 16/06/2005 07:55

Good morning
How is everyone today?
Is anyone else suffering from back pain? Or has done in previous PG?
I seem to have everything going these days. My very lower back is causing some pain. Find it hard to get up at times!!!! DH's answer for everything lately seems to be 'oh don't worry, just wait until your bigger! grin, grin' Great!!!
Should i see GP or perfectly normal?

Afternoon girls, I'm back did you miss me? [grin} Had a great 10 days in the sun and am not impressed that it's still cloudy and miserable here.

Have read through most of the messages but there are so many I'll be here all day. It has also overlaoded the one brain cell I have left as we didn't get home till 3am!

Hope everyone is well and that Enthusia you are ok after your scare in Spain it must have been a nightmare for you.

Rodeo ha ha you posted loads of long messages while I was away - were you making up for my absence?!!!

tessamum glad the wedding went so well, you'll have to give me a recap about how fab it was.

Tex great news about the house I take it you'll be off to Blackeath(?) soon. I'll post up the details on the drama class this evening.

HK how's things with you?

Busy is it you that might be on crutches - is it becasue of your pelvis or have I got completely the wrong person?

Chacha the back pain sounds normal it's jut ligaments etc softening up but try to make sure your posture is as good as possible so no slouching when standing or sitting!

I'm sure there is loads I've missed on here so if I've not mentioned anyone sorry or if there's been stuff I should have picked up on and haven't let me know a quick update would be great.

Just had to dash off as ds was screaming about a spider thought to my horror it was going to be a wolf spider but was actually one the size of a pin head if not smaller!!! Huge relief for me as didn't have to look like supermum and catch it

Speak to you all later Beks 18+4

ChaCha · 16/06/2005 14:07

Welcome Back Beks [rolling out red carpet]
It's lovely to have you back! Sounds like fab break - did you do much or just relax? Am totally in the best possible way of course!

Busy - that email looks so authentic. Very, very scary!

hamster · 16/06/2005 15:21

Hello!

One very happy Hamster here...had my scan earlier on today! All is well and normal, very active, kicking away bless! And I know what I'm having(well as sure as they can be with these scans)......A LITTLE BABY BOY
I am over the moon, ds will have a little brother to play with!
Plus they will have lots of their friends round to "hang out" when they're 18!....oooh young man!(sorry-naughty mummy!)

Beksmum-hope you had a great time very of the sunshine, though we did have a bit, but nothing to write home about!

Chacha-sorry to hear about your loss! I never could keep bl**dy fish alive. They just die, and they go so horrible! Hope the cod wasn't too burnt though!
Sounds like you were having a bad day! xx

Well, all dressing is off the hand thank God. It's not that bad now thankfully. I was getting a little fed up with wearing a rubber glove in the bath and to wash my hair LOL.

Hey Rodeo-how you doing? 20 weeks too! It's great to half way isn't it, doesn't make it seem as long now. (though it will probably feel like it in the height of summer.... ) Which day are you due on? 4th/5th?

Well, am off for a nap, if I can get ds to sleep after his afternoon snack that is...zzzzzZZZZ

ChaCha · 16/06/2005 15:50

Oh Hamster!! Congratulations...i'm so excited for you (am i the only person who comes on the November thread more than once these days) Are you 20 weeks today then too?
You and Rodeo are so far ahead....can you feel the baby move/kick/punch? What was the scan like, was it much clearer than the 12 week one?
Yes, first time PG - loadsa questions xxx

bamik · 16/06/2005 17:21

Congrats Hamster

I have the worst back pain ever! Baba keeps stabbing me (sorry thats the only way that I can describe it) and baba is bubbling as well

Last night I got this really sharp stabbing pain in my belly button. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Bami xx

rodeo1 · 16/06/2005 17:51

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick catch up before I dish out children's tea...

Welcome back Beks! Glad you had a wonderful time!!! And yes I have been making up for you in the long post department!!

Brilliant news Hammy!!!!!! Our first boy!!!! Any names for him yet? What is your ds1 called? My due date is now the 2nd BTW!

Chacha I agree with Beks re back pain. My posture is terrible I'm always slouching around!

I've got a chance to have a free reflexology treatment tomorrow, has anyone tried it? What does it do/help? All I know is that I'm going to have to scrub my feet tomorrow and make them a bit more presentable!!!

Great to hear your still about Yingers - I was starting to wonder!

Speak to you all later x x x

tessasmum · 17/06/2005 08:03

Morning all! Frantically running round throwing things into bags as have decided on a last minute camping trip to Lake District this w/e!!! Need to get as many trips in as possible in before I'm too big to get off an airmattress! Should be back Tues in time for scan on Weds. Hope the forecast is true. Have a good w/e everyone.

19 + 2

hamster · 17/06/2005 08:46

Morning all,

Thanks for the congrats everyone!

Had a bit of mad one yesterday ringing everyone and telling them the news etc....
I must admit I was a little sad yesterday, sat writing a boys name list! It's so hard to find any nice boys names, and the ones I did come up with DP hated most of! DS is called Callum, and it took us months to come up with that!

Rodeo-I think my due date is still the 4th, no-one has told me any different at this scan etc. It's good to have someone so close in dates to compare with!
Will also have a look at your pics!

Chacha-This scan is so much better than the 12week one, in that it lasts about 20 mins, the sonographer shows you the brain, heart, tummy, feet, face....everything! and you get more pics!
I've been feeling little flutters since I was about 15-16 weeks, but it was only the other night that I actually SAW my tummy move. It was wonderful! You don't realise how much they move until you see them on the scan. It's like their very own little world!
You will soon begin to recognise the feeling, and then before you know it, you can hardly breath because you have 2 feet stuck in your ribs!

oooh I gotta go nap, sooooo tired. Work was crap today
Talk later
xx

ChaCha · 17/06/2005 09:53

Hi everyone,
Tessasmum - where do you get all the energy from? Have a lovely weekend.

Hamster - scan sounds so exciting. I have to stop thinking thoughts of little baby jumping around everywhere and being excited and start hoping that everything is fine with it's development! I kind of forget the reason behind the scan.
I still have to pluck up the courage to go and get blood tests done.

Oh my gosh - i watched that desperate midwives last night.....i was nearly sick!!!! I just kept saying to DH 'won't be able to do that' 'can't do it'....oh my, oh my!!!! Me no good with pain!

BEKsmum · 17/06/2005 11:15

Morning girls, Hamster the scan sounds fantastic and congratulations on the news you're having a boy how lovely.

Chacha didn't do a great deal on holiday other than have lots of lie ins and taking ds to the beach everyday so all in all a very relaxing time.
Lol at your post about the programme, don't you know ignorance is bliss mate, I never even read to the end of my baby books until the last minute! The only thing to be said about the pain of child birth is that you know for sure it has to stop and that every contraction is one closer to the end and to meeting your baby.

The one you should be warned about is the burn which is when the baby's head crowns - put a finger in each side of your mouth and pull it as wide as you can and you'll get an approximation of what I'm talking about (hee hee)! It'll be interesting to see if the other girls agree?

Have a great weekend Tessa and pls could you send some of your energy my way!

Speak to you all later Beks 18+5

bamik · 17/06/2005 11:16

When I was up at 2am this morning eating choco pops, I was watching desperate midwives (not sure if it was the same one as the one U watched Chacha). But I am TERRIFIED of any sort of menstrual pain!!! I'm just confident that I'll get through it. The last thing that I want to do is scare myself as I've read in my books that the fear makes you pump adrenaline - which then makes the baby anxious!

DON'T WORRY LADIES - WE'll BE FINE

hamster · 17/06/2005 12:37

Chacha, you will be fine. The pain is like nothing you will have experienced before(-as in the type of pain, not neccessarily the amount!)
I thought I was great at dealing with pain, obviously I was wrong as I ended up on pethidine and having an epidural! But I think you'll find that during labour, whichever way you end up doing it, all that will be on your mind is when the baby will be born, because you just want it all to end.

I don't like needles either, my sympathy is with you there. I have to have needles-I am rhesus negative so whether I like it or not I gotta be jabbed ...plus I was in so much pain in labour that I didn't care that they were sticking a needle in my spine!(makes me feel all icky now though)....sorry if that sounds horrible!
What time/channel is Desperate midwives on? I haven't heard of it before.

Beksmum-your hol sounds lovely, I wish I could have a relaxing time anywhere. Are you getting away again before bambino gets here?
LOL at the mouth comment. It so does feel like that, only on a much bigger scale! Stretching till you think you can't anymore..........ouch I've made the corners of my mouth sore

Bains · 17/06/2005 14:11

Congrats Hamster...great news that everything is ok!

As for childbirthing, I have a friend who has just gone off work to have her baby and I was telling her how I am ignoring the bits about labour in the baby books and that "ignorance is bliss" and she told me that I should get myself clued up otherwise you are not prepared for the experience. Anyway, long and short...I got myself a good book "Blooming Birth" by Lucy Atkins. Its really practical book and not too in your face about what options are best (e.g. a natural birth vs pain relief or caserean)...worth a read !
