Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

Is everyone okay? No one working/visiting or have any relatives/friends in central London??

Is terrible

Diddle · 07/07/2005 12:35

chacha - apart from ttc all is well, still owrking yes, veyr busy, kids coming out fo my ears
all ok here, nowhere near London thankfully. you ok??

novadandypowder · 07/07/2005 12:43

I hope the rest of you London ladies are ok, think we have at least one over near the city??? Thank god I'm not working or I could have very well been in the middle of all the horror today, doesn't bear thinking about. I've been expecting something like this for a while though, but it doesn't make it any easier

rodeo - i had my 20wk scan 3 weeks ago, so have to wait until wk 36 to get my next one. I'm thinking about a 3D scan at 28wks but i don't know what sex baby is and i think it'll be pretty hard to miss on that, so i need to check with the place first.

DH is a libran so prepare yourself for a messy/lazy child, although unlike most Librans DH is good at making decisions

Beksmum - it's taken me 30 years to be a nice person but my sister is still a cow - only joking.

SharonTW1 · 07/07/2005 13:24

Hello, hope everyone's ok, been think about a 3D scan too but don't know for the same reasons -don't want to find out the sex. Bit mad to go for just head shots but might still !!
Been having a weak bladder too mainly when I sneeze, only 21 weeks tomorrow so don't know what I'll be like in the next 19 !!!
Terrible news today everyone upset by it ringing relatives and friends, DH sister travelling up north from London today but is safely on the train thanks God !

xx

rodeo1 · 07/07/2005 13:39

Terrible news this morning, hope everyone is ok. Bains, Jenjam (if you're back), MizZan, Yingers and LilJ, I know you all live in/near London, praying that you ladies and your families are all ok, thinking about you all x x x

Nova, glad all was well at your scan - must have missed that news, how come you've got a scan at 36 weeks? Low placenta? Tell me to mind my own business if you like! Oh no Librans are messy? More messy than the usual child?!

SarahS, hope you had a nice birthday and good luck with your scan tomorrow - have a lovely time!

Woke up at 5 this morning to feel a definite leg protruding out of the side of my tummy, very tickly! First time that has happened in this pg, very glad I was awake

Took ds to a soft play place this morning and he went off with his little friends, as usual, I realised about 10 mins later that I'd not seen him (I usually manage to catch a glimpse of him every so often whizzing past) so went off to hunt for him. Found him huddled in a corner, alone, saying a horrid boy had 'tried' to bite him. I took him to sit on my knee, fed him some milk and biscuits to cheer him up, lifted his top up just to check the boy hadn't got him, and he had the biggest angry bite mark just under his shoulder blade!

Joe couldn't identify the boy while we were there, the lady who works there says if I could find out who it was she'd ask the boy to leave, but couldn't really get anything out of him So it went down in the accident book and she got some ice for his back. Had to go home before I strangled every naughty looking boy there!

Sory to go on but just wanted to get it out as my mum and sis (my usual soundboards!) are at work!!

23+1 x x x

Rodeo - thats terrible, some kids can be so horrible. Hope he's ok.

novadandypowder · 07/07/2005 13:46

My package at the Portland involves a growth scan at 36 weeks, no reason for it, they just like to see how its doing and check its position. I love scans so i'm very happy at the prospect of seeing baby at least one more time before it's born.

Hope your Ds is ok, sounds like it was pretty bad for him (and you)

novadandypowder · 07/07/2005 13:48

did i miss something with firstbabyandnervous? She joined up just before i did but i've not seen any postings for a while. Have you changed name firstbaby? or do we smell ?

ChaCha · 07/07/2005 13:58

Oh Rodeo!!! Poor Joe, hope you are giving him plenty of TLC..poor little love! Awwww...
Kids can be so mean to each other!!

Hiya all!
Beks- Happy belated birthday hun!!!!
Rodeo- How's little one's bite mark? Horrid little git that did it .
How's everyone?
Glad to hear scan's are going well and babba's are kicking away!
Rodeo- Did crack up at your "accident".

Af's still here! 2 weeks tomorrow! I know I said I wanted a good bleed but this is taking the p*ss!

Shocking news about the bombings. Got a horrid feeling (hope I'm wrong) that this is just the start.

Take care all. Miss you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

tessasmum · 07/07/2005 16:52

DD having screaming ab-dabs at moment so I have come up here to escape. We both need a little timeout I think though I'd rather have a large glass of wine!

Nova, same as you really, had been expecting something but its still terrible when it happens. I grew up in N. Ireland in the 70's and 80's so am no stranger to terrorist threats, or to the devastating effects that it has on people when something does happen. I hope everyone here is OK and my thoughts are with those that aren't.

BEKsmum · 07/07/2005 18:59

Evening girls, what an awful day, thoughts go out to all who have loved ones in London.
Dh works at Clapham Junction so thankfully is away from it all, but I have had my heart in my mouth all day in case something happened, as Clapham Junction is the biggest cross over point in London, now just waiting for him to battle his way home - like you say girls hate to think it but I bet this is just the start as I doubt that even as terrible it has been that it was as effective as they would have liked.

Rodeo, ahh poor Joe, lucky you didn't catch the little bugger that did it, I bet you would have felt like biting him back wouldn't you. Give him lots of extra {{{hugs}}}} from all of us and tell him to stamp on the little ratbags toe as hard as he can and run away next time he gets picked on like that.

Nova lol at your comment about your sister is that just a personal feeling of one Scorpio towards another or is she really as you describe

Nova going in for the complete wind up now as Rodeo & I have been on our best behaviour and haven't teased anyone for ages and I want to know if you are going to be one of the "too posh to push" brigade like the stars at the portland or are you doing it properly?

Was wondering about Firstbaby and Tex, although she has got an excuse as she's moving, but if you're out there you two let us know you're doing ok.

Hk, hello hun, thanks for the b'day wishes, well what can I say, lucky you to have auntie flo to visit for so long it's just like having the out-laws to stay for longer than a weekend isn't it

Sarah hope the scan went well today, will pop back later to see how you got on.

By the way girls just to let you know the Disney store has a great sale on at the moment most things half price, father christmas bought some great bargains today, well worth a look.

Right better go as promised to do some colouring with Ben as he's feeling sorry for himself as he's got a cold, why can I never write a short message Beks 21+4

JenJam · 07/07/2005 19:36

Hi all

I'm back, actually i've been back for two weeks now but it's taken some time to get back into the normal program.

i had my scan on the 21st June - and pleased to announce we're having a baby boy ! and one who is very very active!

we're very happy. all is well. Will have another scan at 28 weeks to check that placenta is less low lying than it currently is.

...i can hardly believe the events of today -the world has gone completely crazy!

  1. tube attacks
  2. a colleague has had a D&C today after being told that her baby was not alive at her 12 week scan
  3. and...a mate has 20 minutes ago, had his bike, laptop etc stolen from the door of our office

some people disgust me

anyway back on the positive front, glad all is okay with you all I haven't caught up properly with all that i've missed, but will read through it all as soon as I have a bit more time.

Jen

Busyalexsmummy · 07/07/2005 20:31

Just a quick check in here as am quite busy. sorry havent been on for a while, it went well in devon and was a nice break, it was nice weather too. The only downside was I had 2 teeth out on the thursday morning that week and throughout the wkend away all i wanted to do was lay down with an ice pack clamped to my face!

Todays events in london are shocking, it was inevitable though that it was going to happen at some point

had my scan on monday, went well, was really gutted that we couldnt find out the sex as i had geared myself up to find out, then the little bugger had its legs crossed so am a little dissapointed but glad to know after much poking/prodding/turning the bed at a downward angle that everything else appears to be ok.

ps im 9 sheets of andrex, is that big/small/or average?(im guessing you are doing the toilet roll belly stats, havent had time to read back through all the posts??)

evening all,

just checking in to say that I am well and all my friends and family are fine too. it has been a terrible day and I still cannot believe it has happened.

I am both angry and sad, and I dearly hope that this is not the start of many more as some have predicted. My thoughts go out to those who have lost someone today and those who are injured.

I hope all of you and yours are well and safe. xxx

hamster · 08/07/2005 09:09

Morning all,

Can't believe yesterday. Scary, you never believe it'll happen here, but it has.
Hope all friends and family are safe and well.

On a happier note, hope you're all doing great. Haven't been on for a while again. Lost touch with all that's gone on the last week or so.

Chacha-well done on the blood thing! Told you it wasn't that bad! As long as you get a really good nurse you hardly ever notice.

Been sooooo busy with ds, he's really getting mobile now so I'm constantly running around all the time.
I pulled a muscle in my side too on Tuesday(sniff sniff), so have been a bit of an invalid. lol, my boss has had to pick me up every morning(4.30am!)as I can't ride to work on my bike(docs instructions)..shouldn't be for long though.

Anyway, pg going well still. Baby constantly fidgeting, feel it esp when I lie down. I've really missed the sensation! I have my 24 week appointment next week, or I might put it off till 25 weeks as my usual midwife is on hols next week....(I like what I know!) So will know more about what's going on in there then.
I'm still feeling sick though, which is gutting, as I thought it would be over by now

Well, I'll stop jibber-jabbering. Hopefully I'll have time to catch up with you guys Monday.

Take care & have a good weekend
xxx

novadandypowder · 08/07/2005 10:37

lol @ 'too posh to push' - i will not be joining that brigade. The only reason we're going private is because i'm a bit cautious about the NHS, and i want this to be a positive experience. The Midwife Led service at the Portland doesn't give you the option of a c/section, their aim is to help you have as natural a birth as possible. You have a midwife devoted to you throughout the whole labour, and if you do need pain relief you'll get it as soon as you ask (my friend was made to wait ages at an NHS hospital). I was impressed by how clean and calm it was there, and there's also the option of DH spending the night there as they have private rooms with double beds. We figured it was a small price to pay for all the reassurance and care they give us. It's made me feel very positive about the whole thing, and at the moment i'm looking forward to giving birth.

I have a very odd relationship with my sister - we are both very similar with personality traits but soooo different. I'm sad we're not closer than we should be, but thats due to a whole family story thats far too long to go into (and maybe the scorpio thing )

Baby is kicking all the time, made me laugh yesterday as i was resting my arm across my belly and it kept booting it. DH still can't feel anything yet, but i keep thrusting his hand onto bump as i'm sure he will do soon.

rodeo1 · 08/07/2005 11:46

Hope everyone is getting over the shock from yesterday,

Great to hear from the 'awol' ones! Busy great everything was well at the scan - sorry you couldn't find out but you've got a nice surprise now after all that pushing!

Jenjam - a boy!! You thought you had a boy didn't you? Well done! Look forward to hearing about your travels soon!

And Cads if your about soon same goes to you too!

Nova - sounds wonderful - and it's worth it to feel so positive.

Glad to hear of all these active babies!! Mine's not as active as ds was, but he is a small tornado, so hopefully that bodes well! Chacha are you feeling anything yet lovey? How many weeks are you now? 20? Give it a fortnight and I'm sure
you will if you haven't already

Yingers glad you are safe and well,

Beks, glad your dh is fine too, how's the name list thing coming on?

HK, 2 weeks! How crap - something I'm not missing at the mo. Missing you though (soppy moment!)

Hamster, Tessasmum, Twinkle and the rest of you, have a lovely weekend. Anyone got any plans? Supposed to be lovely weather again. Hurray! Ds off to playgroup this afternoon so may slope of for a nap!

Love to all,

23+2

Hiya all,

Scan went well yesterday, baby fine although the little monster had its legs crossed so couldnt tell sex so was quite miffed . On the bright side though my sister is 25 weeks pg with first and they dont know sex either so will be a nice surprise for the both of us.

Then had to see consultant (previous c-section) who just told me, after nearly 45 minutes of waiting, that will be natural birth this time around but they wont let me labour for too long, which my midwife had already told me so that 45 minute wait was pointless.

Completely shocked to hear of events in London on radio on my way home, hoping you and your families are all well. Although i have to say it was inevitable something like this, but doesnt make it any less shocking when it happens.

Feeling definate movements now, was getting quite worried as not really felt much before now but scan was reassuring.

Still haven't found any names me and dp can agree on, was so easy with dd, agreed on name at about 17 weeks. Baby will be 2 months old and still without a name at this rate lol.

20 weeks today wooooohooooooo!!

ChaCha · 08/07/2005 16:17

Rodeo - Hiya! I feel peanut move now mainly at night time when i'm relaxing or just lying down. It is an amazing sensation - makes me go all funny!

Yesterday though, and i'm really sorry for TMI, I could not believe at how sore my nipples were, and i mean SORE. Thought they were going to burn through my top - really sorry for TMI here but i'm assuming this is normal from time to time.

Hamster good to see you and Yingers. Sarah - glad all well at scan, another one waiting the surprise eh?

Nova - its good that you're able to go private. I went private for my first laparoscopy operation as i was really conscious, nervous etc.. and the waiting list on NHS was just awful, was worried my condition would get worse before then. Paid just under 2 grand but was treated like a queen Was a really nice experience. Had the second one on NHS, the nurses were lovely, everyone very caring but the being in a bed surrounded by people (hearing them puke/moan/swear etc..) was the downside, particulary the nurses opening the curtains every 2 seconds and being exposed to both reception and waiting room!!!! Other than that was okay. Hope the birth will not be a story from hell.

Enthusia - how are you? Have a few more SATs to mark this weekend and then i'm ready for reports and wrap up! How good is that? 6 working days to go....yipeeee doo da!

Chacha (2 days less 20 weeks)

tex111 · 08/07/2005 16:19

Hi all, been complete madness here. Had a tense morning yesterday as DH works in the City and I couldn't reach him and didn't hear from him until almost noon. Just problems with all the phone lines, he was fine, but it was a very stressful morning. Glad things are getting back to normal so soon. DH off to work this morning and I'm back to my pack of Tim Tams.

Have only had time to skim the thread but do add me to list of 'leaking' ladies. Even went to the GP covinced it was amniotic fluid. Very embarrassed to be told I was weeing myself. Doc said to smell it (TMI, I know!) because amnio fluid smells sweet and I would be able to tell the difference. So embarrassing.

Little one is moving loads and we're getting a bit closer to a name. Won't decide for sure until she arrives but I'm feeling more relaxed about it.

Have my scan on Thursday and very excited about seeing baby. Our 3D ultrasound is on the 29th and I can't wait to see what she really looks like. SHould be so much fun.

Hope everyone is doing well. BEKs, I did read that I missed your birthday so happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a nice day.

As for Scorpios, my sister is a Scorpio and I've only ever seen the good aspects in her but then I am biased! I'd really love to have the baby on my sister's birthday and will push for that date for the C-section if at all possible. It's 1 Nov and I'd much prefer that date to a Halloween baby, though by then I'll probably just be glad to not be pregnant anymore!

OK, DS is hiding behind the couch eating toothpaste. Better go sort him out.

SharonTW1 · 08/07/2005 16:43

Hello ladies, treid to send a mail last night but wouldn't work ??
Must do the loo roll measurement tonight !
I'm 21 weeks today and still no kicks
feeling some moving though and scan was fine so not worried, just feel really well and happy.
13 weeks left at work !!
take care everyone and if I don't get back on have a great weekend x x x

rodeo1 · 08/07/2005 16:59

Just nipping as children are glued to Scooby Doo,

Tex LOL at your 'add me to the list of leaking ladies'!!! How funny - but surprisingly reassuring!

Sarah, congratulations on scan, all these naughty babies with crossed legs!

Chacha and Sharon great you're both feeling movement! Really is so lovely isn't it

OP posts:
BEKsmum · 08/07/2005 20:37

Nova, the Portland sounds excellent, can quite understand why you would go down that route, NHS is a nightmare, last time I didn't get a midwife until after i'd started pushing, my mum thought she was going to have to deliver the baby! Although I must say that the midwife who did eventually deliver Ben was excellent.

Got to say I'm glad I've only got a brother, these sisters sound like hard work.

Lol I was feeling all smug about you lot who are 'leaking' as it hadn't been happening to me then while out today with ds at the Hop Farm with the rest of the family, I sneezed and had to quickly cross my legs! Mantra to self must do pelvic floor exercises more often!!

Chacha, quite normal to experience sore nipples, two ways round this, try to get yourself a bra that doesn't have a seam through the middle i.e. along the lines of a sports bra or get yourself some breastpads, so that the seam won't rub against them - hope that helps, had the same thing myself last time - ouch.

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well and that these babies are kicking for England, Tex enjoy your scan on Thrusday, can't believe I've got to wait until the 21st very

Rodeo the names are dwindling fast, have shortened the girls to Eleanor, Zoe or Catherine with Lucy as the middle name and the boys to Jack or Sam with Oscar as the middle name only problem is that gives him the initial's JOK or SOK, can forsee problems in the future with those can't you. Same with ELK, can see some moose jokes happening there!

Right off to relax as have been on my feet for most of the day, we got a great afternoon tomorrow as Ben is in his first drama show,(can feel the tears brimming already!)so will be very proud mummy when I log on tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great weekend Beks 21+5
