Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

Hi Girlies, glad scans are all going well they're so exciting aren't they.
Having a stressful day at work but only 14 weeks to go, really don't want to come back.
Doesn anyone know how the working tax credits work, was thinking of working out if I'd be as well off not working after considering child minding costs etc. ??
Will pop on tonight
take care everyone
lots of love xx

novadandypowder · 05/07/2005 18:24

i found the article on money matters in August's Prima baby magazine really useful, it may be worth picking that up. I've discovered i'm entitled to state maternity allowance because i was freelance and didn't qualify for any maternity benefit from an employer - bonus!

novadandypowder · 05/07/2005 18:28

Also - get thee down to French Connection. I never usually shop there but their summer collection is perfect unintentional maternity wear, lots of dropped waists and stretchy soft fabrics. And they have a sale on. Have come home with some lovely dresses that can be worn as long tops, but they also have some soft tops skirts and tie waist skirts. Bring on my holiday...

Enthusia · 05/07/2005 19:47

Hiya all

Sorry for the lack of conversation recently, things are really hotting up here what with the end of the school year, my DH's new job, Dad's health plus their imminent arrival again, moving house etc etc!!!!!

Anyway - Happy Birthday Beks hope you had a great time.

ChaCha - hope the heartburn is imrpving.

Nova - POLE DANCING - Had a quick image of myself doing this and could only think of Bridget Jones' bottom on the fireman's pole!!!

Glad all scans have gone well.

Twinkle - Hope your BP settles down and you are not confined to bed!!

Sorry if I have missed anybody out!!!!!

Well as for me, had 22 week scan today which was excellent, DH was able to come which made it even more special. Bubs is fine, bouncing around. Measurements are fine well within norms! Bubs didn't want to show face though and kept playing peekabo with his hands to the point we were told to go for a walk and then come back! When we did return we got a great photo of bubs yawning, which actually looks like he is having a good laugh at us, that is def one for the wall!!!! My placenta looked completely normal, nothing really seemed to be 'hanging' down this time which was great! And I've had no more bleeding!

Have a question about cots though, has anyone used a bedside cot and was it any good? We are now looking at a bedside cotbed. It looks lovely but wanted your advice. We were also thinking of the Stokke one!

Well hope you are all well, will try and post again soon!!!

tessasmum · 05/07/2005 20:01

I've been a bit quiet over past few days. Actually lost ALL my energy yesterday (and was slightly suspicious that someone on here had stolen it!) and felt both my age and about 8 1/2 months gone. No idea why, maybe a growth spurt, maybe hormones as got all weepy over something too. Can't even remember what now! However normal service was resumed today

Nova - loved the toilet peper idea! I'm 8 and a bit sheets and DD (aged 28 months) is 4 1/2 sheets but hers was probably all breakfast!! Luckily it was only us in the house prancing around in the nude waving toilet paper at each other

Must admit that on the stretch marks thing I go along with the theory that its more your skin type than what you rub on your belly. My mum went through 3 pregnancies, including twins, and never had one stretch mark. I may have inherited the same skin as I didn't get any with DD. I am prepared to eat my words though, I'll let you know in November.
However that doesn't stop me rubbing cream on like a good'un and getting anyone else to do it either - well DH and now DD! It just feels SO nice.

ChaCha - I'm with you on the dungerees, most impractical item of clothing ever, especially for pregnant women. Try to split you in two when bending over for anything, take ages to get out of when desparate for toilet and then the straps end up in the bowl and are they flattering? NO!! However have a friend who has worn nothing else whilst pregnant, each to their own.

22 weeks (have stopped counting days as due date seems to now be on either 4th, 7th or 10th Nov!)

tessasmum · 05/07/2005 20:04

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEKSmum

BEKsmum · 05/07/2005 21:11

Evening girls thanks again for the B'day messages, have been thoroughly spoilt today and have had a great time, mainly eating!

Tessa lol at the dungarees and the toilet bowl, used to do that whe I was kid and find it highly amusing!

Enthusia glad the scan went so well, how's dad? Are your parents coming over for long? Mine are here till the thrid week in July, it's a godsend having them here and Ben adores them and constantly tugs on their heart strings with his comments.

Nova pole dancing, bloody hell, now I really do feel a lard arse! Stangely though ds has taken to swinging round poles rather alarmingly, perhaps you can teach him to do it safely for me when you're up to it!
I had been warned about Scorpio children being a handful - and I think it's right, bump kicks like mad whenever I tell Ben off, it's like it's sticking up for him or something

LilJ glad your scan went well too, lol at the parking bit, in the car this evening I said to my husband "i can never park going this way" and his reply was "what backwards" needless to say i was making a complete hash of reverse parking at the time! Not sure if they were wise or brave words from a man who doesn't drive

Right off to watch Gordon Ramsey, then to bed wonder if I'll get another lie in tomorrow, Ben didn't get up until 9:00am today, what a great B'day present that was! Speak to you all tomorrow Beks

SharonTW · 05/07/2005 22:11

Happy Birthday Beksmum hope you've had a nice day x x x

novadandypowder · 05/07/2005 23:18

I can thoroughly recommend pole dancing. The classes tend to be full of thirty-something housewives looking for some fun, rather than lithe wannabe strippers, so no worries about Bridget Jones style capers. I lost 1/2 a stone within a couple of months when i started doing it, it's great for building up thighs, arms and abs, although you do need to have bare legs so short shorts are a must. I also taught lap dancing as part of the course, it's great to go home to your DH/DP and be able to say 'look what i learnt today' and know that they'll actually be interested to find out! I can't wait to get back to it, i really miss it.

novadandypowder · 05/07/2005 23:19

oh - and today bump is measuring an extra 1/3 of a sheet

ChaCha · 06/07/2005 09:13

Morning all,

Beks - Glad you had a lovely birthday and bonus lie in! Lovely.

Sharon - Is nice to see you more of you, hope all is going well and 14wks to go at work you are indeed a brave lass!! Can i just point out that one of your two posts are just SharonTW and the other Sharon TW1 (call me bored) but i couldn't help notice it, lol. The TW1 always sticks in my mind as 'Twickenham' maybe that's why i noticed.

Still no news of Busy? Does anyone email her?
Perhaps her internet is down.

What's with all the toilet paper measurements? Do you start from you would-be waist and measure round? Interesting.

Am off to chest clinic today and then for bedreaded blood test..am going to try once and for all!!! If i'm not on here for a few days you'll know what's wrong...

Love to all x

SharonTW1 · 06/07/2005 13:28

Hello everyone, must be making more time for myself now, seem to be able to get on here easier ?
Cha cha I hadn't noticed my names were different, must be when I'm at home or at work.
Will have to do this loo roll thing !!??

xx
work is dragging today

rodeo1 · 06/07/2005 14:07

Afternoon ladies!

Congratulations to LilJ, Yingers, Enthusia and Twinkle on your scans!! It's brill everyone's doing so well, hope yours went well too Busy!

Yingers, a little girl, how lovely! I'm one of two girls, my sis is 3 yrs younger than me and we really are best friends. When my ds was born I was a bit sad that dd mightn't have the same girlie connection with a little bro!

And yes Sharon, you do have to do the loo roll thing! And Chacha I measured round the biggest part of bump!

Nova you saucy thing, pole dancing , I've got dodgy knees so not sure how I'd manage (or how sexy I'd look!), although I'm sure dp would be pushing me through the pole dancing door!!

Chacha good luck with your blood tests lovey! Try not to pass out!

Beks, glad you had a lovely day, Bella did too but wasn't it awful weather!

Just read that the pint of amniotic fluid we're carrying dear babes in is 'refreshed' every 3-4 hours - what does this mean? Is it filtered? or replaced? Hmmm...

Anyway, I'm 23 weeks today!

Hi Ladies,

Hope you're all well. I've been so busy at work that I haven't had time to post.

Anyway - has anyone had weak bladder probs. Monday morning started well for me when I peed myself in the bathroom! All I did ws cough. I was going to cry but then decided that I was far too tired and in way too much shock! Thank God that I wasn't in the train station or even on the train ! That would have been so embarassing!

I'm 20 + 4 today! Wow - time is flying by. Before we all know it we would have had our baba's and be posting on the after natal page .

tessasmum · 06/07/2005 15:27

Just back from routine antenatal appointment with my GP. Wasn't sure what to expect as last time I was in a different area and didn't see my GP at all after the initial "I think I'm pregnant" appointment!
She did all the usual things that the midwife does but the best bit was when she put the heart-beat listening thing on my tummy - the first thing the baby did was to give it a great kick
Everything is fine though apparantly the baby is a little big. I'm not very surprised or concerned though as Tessa was 8lb 4ozso I'm not expecting a little one!

ChaCha · 06/07/2005 17:15

Hi Rodeo..How was your DDs birthday? Was the same day as Beks right?

Bami, have had a few 'incidents' since being pregnant. Usually happens when i sneeze unaware I guess we should be doing those pelvic muscle exercises!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - Had my blood taken!!!! The nurse at the Haematology dept was fantastic, didn't even know he'd taken the blood!! Did have a dizzy spell afterwards but was well looked after. I am so happy with myself, how brave i am!!! hee heeee..now time to relax and let DH make the dinner (I'm still a little dizzy of course and my arm is quite sore)..see ya later girls xx

Enthusia · 06/07/2005 18:11

Hiya

Thought I needed some exercise so just walked to town and back (just over 2 miles). How knackered do I now feel, that was so hard going and I am not used to being overtaken by everybody!

About this loo roll thing, wouldn't it depend on how large you were to start with??? I am/was a size 16 bottom and am currently 9 and a half sheets, but was this because I was larger than the rest of you in the beginning???? Any thoughts???

Diddle · 06/07/2005 18:45

Hello everyone - have been sort of ctahing up with your thread. Glad to hear all your scans have gone well, and i little worried that are talking about sheets of toilet paper, you are all very worrying and obviously pregnancy fuddles your brain you are all proof of that,.

No luck with me at the moment, still trying. Af due in 9 days and counting!!! I want her to stay away for a good 9 months now, bet she doesn't though.

happy birthday beksmum for yesterday, glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Just wanted to say hi, miss you guys, miss being on a due in thread. getting very desperate now, you know me so impatient. It has only been 3 months. fingers crossed for me.

BEKsmum · 06/07/2005 19:19

Evening girls,

Rodeo you're right that's got to be the worst b'day weather on record, ya boo sucks, here's me worrying that I've had my kids at crap times of the year, when my own birthday is in the middle of the summer and it was cold and wet! Still if it was hot, I'd be moaning so there's no pleasing me at the moment What was Bella's favourite pressie? I don't understand girls toys at all!

Diddle lovely to hear from your hun, glad you're doing ok, now don't you going getting desperate on us, it will happen, you know it will and just think of the fun you get practicing.

Enthusia you think you got problems with a size 16 I was a 26 before this all started so how many sheets allowance do I get in the toilet roll stakes I think maybe I should be using kitchen roll sheets instead!

Chacha you superstar well done you getting your bloods done, make the most of it with the pampering for being so brave.

Tessa glad the mw appointment went well and good on baby for booting you on cue, you've got this one trained already.

Bamik excuse the pun but pmsl at your story, how funny is that, oh the joys of pregnancy! You wait a couple more months honey, it just gets better!!!

Was reading the star signs bit on www.babycentre.co.uk, my goodness have we let ourselves in for trouble - they're supposed to be secretive, manipulative and hold a grudge - please let this be a boy for me I don't think I could cope with that in a girl

Right suppose I'd better go and find Ben some pj's for daddy to get him ready for bed, love this time of the day as I hand him over to daddy to sort out from tea till bedtime - hooray.

Speak to you all tomorrow. Beks 21+3

novadandypowder · 06/07/2005 19:30

Sadly Beksmum that seems to sum up scorpios - but on the plus side we are very loyal (to those we don't hold a grudge against!)..and..hmm seem to have run out of good things...

Have a feeling if I have a girl we're going to clash big time, but she'll be able to wrap DH around her little finger..

Today marks the sad passing of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe - a minutes silence please - fitted skirts, shirts, posh dresses have all been laid to rest in a box, to make room for all things in stretch jersey. A truly day.

BEKsmum · 06/07/2005 19:40

Nova I will hold on to the thought that you have grown up into such a nice person I would never have guessed you were a scorpio, and will pray that bump can be as nice

Ahh a sad day indeed, I'm looking forward to the day at some time in my life when for the first time ever I won't need stretchy clothes, now that will be a day for celebration on a bigger scale than of today's olympics news

rodeo1 · 06/07/2005 20:25

I'm glad some of you others are weeing yourselves too, I woke up the other night in a wet patch! At first I was concerned that maybe my waters had broke, but no I'd wet the bed in my sleep. How embarrassing - didn't even tell dp! It was only a little bit, mind

Beks, got dd a keyboard for her birthday with a microphone attachment - yes I think I have gone mad, before you all say it!\

If mine comes the predicted 3 weeks early I think I'll have a Libran baby. Will look on babycentre for what that means! Do you go on the name poll bit of babycentre? it's my favorite part!!

Oh and do you all get weekly updates from the pampers website? I think Hamster recommended it a couple of months ago and I find them alot more interesting than the babycentre updates.

Diddle - Aw, it will happen soon I promise! Lovely to see you on here, will pop onto the ttc thread soon!

Nova, I mourn the loss of your pre-preg clothes oh, and this time next year they'll all be permanently 'mummy marked' with various shades of baby poo, baby sick, baby food and baby slobber. Oh the joy

Have you had your scan yet Nova? or have you got a date for one coming up?

tessasmum · 06/07/2005 21:42

Don't you just love MN for all those little things you don't talk to anyone else about? Looks like there are a few of us leaking

sarahsausage · 06/07/2005 22:19

Hiya!

Haven't posted for a while, had my birthday on saturday (no longer a teenager woohoo) then rest of the week gone by in a blur. I forget where i put things, what day it is etc in true pregnancy style.

Excited though as its my scan tomorrow will be 19+6. Am going to find out whether bump is a boy or girl (hopefully) so will post if i find out.

Sounds like i am one of the lucky ones where my bladder is concerned, will probably end up regretting saying that when i sneeze sometime soon.

Cha cha am same as you when it comes to having my blood taken, makes the appt 20 mins longer while i lie down to get over it lol.

Soooooo excited cant wait to see baby tomorrow, its my first and last scan, i only get one

ChaCha · 07/07/2005 10:42

Good morning,

Not much to write home about here, was really sick last night, must have been payback for milking the blood test for all it was worth! Slept from 8pm until this morning with the hourly visit to the bathroom!

I've yet to try the toilet roll measurements - I find the whole concept hilarious. 'So how many sheets are you today?' 'You mean weeks?' 'No, i mean sheets!!!!' LOL!

Nice to see you back SarahSausage, all the best for your scan.

Diddle - How is everything with you other than TTC? Still working? When the time is right Diddle it will just happen. I waited a long time for this pregnancy and when i just stopped trying and started concentrating on career/studies it happened! Such is life! Wishing you all the best just the same. Keep in touch.

Oh.. i didn't have the triple blood test as i was too late had another one, can anyone remember what that one is for?
