Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

BEKsmum · 22/06/2005 09:29

Hk we miss you too, come and chat with us more, keep us all sane! Damn thought I'd told you it was Gatwick! I was the one standing in the queue with the child with a nosebleed at 5:00am!

I did see your little ones picture he is absolutely adorable, no wonder you want another one. Not sure his cousin is going to thank you for the photo when she grows up though! Can't believe how tall he is either he's only a ft shorter than Ben who is tall for his age at 3

Sorry to choke you on the Dr Pepper, but while you're at "it" could you do some for me 'cos I think all urges have left me and i've forgotten how to do it, dh certainly thinks I have!

BEKsmum · 22/06/2005 09:32

Oh Firstbaby, sorry to hear you're suffering, it must be really hard for you. Is it the extra fluid that is making your joints sore?

firstbabyandnervous · 22/06/2005 09:39

I suppose it could be the extra fluid but I really dont know.Normally id be able to just take my painkillers and go to bed for a few hours or a few days depending on how bad the pain is but I cant take anything now.

novadandypowder · 22/06/2005 10:29

Firstbaby - are your employers sympathetic (can't remember what you do, sorry)? I don't know much about arthritis but have you considered whether acupunture could help? If it gets too bad your doctor may be able to sign you off work early?? It's no fun being poorly and pregnant and hot.

firstbabyandnervous · 22/06/2005 10:46

Hi nova! Im a mortgage advisor and unfortunately im in the office on my own today so cant go home early.Have tried acupunture before but didnt get much relief from it and its so expensive here.

Busyalexsmummy · 22/06/2005 10:47

Remember those grobag pillows i was ranting on about a while ago, in case any one else is intrested and hasnt got one, I found one very very cheap on ebay(there £39 BN) heres the item number- Item number: 3982121711 £1.20 its on at the mo!

tex111 · 22/06/2005 11:44

Hi gals, sorry I've been MIA. Things have been crazy here. We sold the house again, not to the couple who saw it in such a mess but to yet another couple. Really hope this one works out. I've been trying to get DS into a preschool in Blackheath but everything is booked up and we still haven't found a place to live. Driving me crazy at the moment.

BEKS, thanks for the drama info. I looked up Jigsaw Arts and have requested an information pack. It looks great. I think DS would love it and they do have classes in Blackheath.

I'm fine. Baby is kicking like crazy and I'm as big as a house. I've already been asked if I'm having twins! Just crossed the halfway mark this week - 20 weeks. Yahoo!

rodeo1 · 22/06/2005 14:46

Hello all,

Thanks for the messages everyone just going to take it easy when I get big, going to finish work before my hol in August (about 30wks), so i'm going to try and hold on until 37 wks!

Thanks Beks, 6.7's not bad is it, had joe at 37 weeks too and he was 6.12 so hoping for the same size again. Are smaller babies harder to breastfeed? They get tired don't they and find it harder to latch on? Well I'll ask my mw nearer the time!

Firstbaby, sorry to hear you've got arthritis, not had any experience myself, maybe you could start a thread on the pg secton, throw it out to a wider audience, see if you can get any suggestions that might help?

Tex, it sounds hectic your end lovey! And in this heat! Hope you're getting your feet up

Well got to dash, got to pick ds up from playgroup and get some shopping too!

21 weeks x x x

HellKat · 22/06/2005 14:52

Rodeo-My ds2 was born at 33/34 wks. Technically I was 52 mins into my 34th week so borderline really. He was 4lb 14ozs (decent size, they thought quite big). He was easier to bf than my first (he was 4 days late and 7lb 12ozs!) He was fully feeding within a week (i.e looking for boob etc) he latched within 2 attempts aswell.

bamik · 22/06/2005 16:36

Thanks everyone for the messages. Had scan this am and found out that baba is a boy!!!!!!!!! I am thrilled to bits. I was in such a joyful mood after finding that out. Then after a conversation with DH I have fallen back into my put again

Sorry to depress you all.

Bami x

Busyalexsmummy · 22/06/2005 18:54

phoar, this heat is intolerable! the town is slowly starting to fill up with hedgers/hippies and various other strange people as they will start letting them in tommorrow, must say im quite looking forward to getting away from it all! you really do get some very strange characters!

Am hoping that ive had chickenpox at the moment, as my friend who i spent the day with today has got shingles and i rang the dr's but there is no record of it on my medical file and rang my dad but he cant remember! eek!

will log in later and post more as I really need to go cook some tea, im hungry as a horse!

ChaCha · 22/06/2005 19:01

Hello everyone,
Had a bit of a scare last night, not baby thank God but with my asthma. GP advised us to call 999, we did, ambulance was sent out was given nebuliser but woke in the early hours just as bad. Ambulance called out again, was taken to hospital and was looked after by lovely nurse - was given more nebuliser and some steroids. Respiratory nurse paid me a visit, upgraded the inhalers (along with a new one) and has put me on a course of steroids. The steroids she said are often given to women who labour early to help develop the baby's lungs so says they are quite safe. Back home and have had lots of rest.

Feeling a bit worn out and am just taking it easy for the rest of the week - Congrats on lovely scan news Bami - awww.. a little boy! That's great. If you need to talk about anything we're all here, some more than others ;) not me of course!

When did most of your bumps start just kind of 'growing'. I seem to be quite small at 17weeks.

Love Cha xx

BEKsmum · 22/06/2005 19:35

Evening girls, boy it's hot, please let it rain - I've been doing a rain dance all week but it's not helping!

Hi ya Tex good to have you back in the fold, sounds rather hectic with you though mate. Jigsaw Arts is definitely good for them, Ben loves it as does his little pal, don't know what the Blackheath classes are like but there's only Ben & one other boy in the class so they get lots of attention!
Don't know if Greenwich has one but the Childrens Information Services may be able to give you a fuller list of nurseries in the Blackheath area, there is a CIS in Bromley who should be able to give you some more information.

Busy, did I miss something here? What starts tomorrow? You make your village sound like that one out of League of Gentleman!!!

Bamik fantastic news how wonderful, little boys are great and their toys are much better too! Have you got any names for him yet? What did your dh say to upset you so much on such a good day? We're all here if you need to let off steam as chacha said.

Chacha sweetheart are you feeling any better? How scary for you, make sure you take it easy and get as much rest as possible, keep us posted won't you.

Rodeo don't think early babies are too difficult to feed you just get a better two week honeymoon period where they sleep more - hooray. Last time the mw told me to tickle Ben's feet if he kept dropping off to sleep while feeding and he soon got the hang of it.

Right I'm off to raise my feet above my head as my ankles are puffy from the heat. Have a good evening and I'll speak to you all tomorrow. Beks 19+3 p.s finally got my blood pressure down to an acceptable figure - hooray!

rodeo1 · 22/06/2005 19:46

Evening!

Ooh Chacha, you love a bit of drama girl! Only joking, hope your feeling much better and it's good they've upgraded your meds. With the heat and extra work your body is doing now your pg, it's not surprising the asthma's got worse, get your feet up, lovey!

Oh Bami, you are definitely not depressing us, sorry your having a rough time of it at the mo. A little boy though?! How wonderful!

HK, thanks for the info! Lovely to see you on here, def keeping my finger crossed for you this weekend! You'll always be a Nov gal to us too!

Keep getting a few twingy pains at the mo, I know it's normal as I had them with Joe, but I'm now paranoid it's my uterus ripping apart! I know it's not, as that would be really painful, but I don't know how I'll cope for the next 16 weeks (and counting!) worrying about my thin uterus! Might get my support belt sooner rather than later.

Tip: I read somewhere recently that consuming pro-biotic foods can reduce your risk of prem labour, so start getting those actimels down you girls!!

Speak to you all tomorrow x x x

Busyalexsmummy · 22/06/2005 21:25

right Im going to do a proper catch up, from monday onwards so this may be quite long!

twinkle1 -Im going to take my maternity leave from 38 weeks, I dont think 32 weeks is unrealistic,at least your'll have time for yourself before the baby arrives-word of advice though, leave most of the little things you need to buy till then-otherwise you'll end up with nothing to do as everything will be already done!

Bains-sympathise with the itching and eczema, I have developed it along my arms and on my elbows since becoming pg, am trying not to even think about itching or else I'll start and never stop! also wearing short sleeve tops to avoid the area getting too hot, because that makes me itch more.

novadandypowder-poor you with the sickness, mine has worn off a bit now, but still being sick 1-4 times a week(which I suppose is better than the 1-4 times per day as before!) mind you, was intresting to read you werent advised to drink anything cold, that was one thing i found of some relief, drinking water ice cold out the fridge! As for the mood swings, I thought i was getting away with it till recently, when i have had a few occasions at crying at nothing, bizzare, hormones eh!

Enthusia-It does sound like your feeling baby move, i would think it probably is at this stage, weird though isnt it first time round-the sudden realisation that someone is living in your tummy!!!

BEKsmum-Hope you didnt melt in your car whilst watching your ds play Microsports!! I know what you mean about sleeping etc at the mo, my sleeping patterns are all over the place, one minute im knackered and fall asleep on sofa, then go to bed at night and cant sleep as either hadf too much sleep or its too bl**dy hot!

rodeo1 - Glad the scan went well, good to hear there keeping an eye on you and looking out for baby+your welfare. Cant beleive how small your babies were, wow lucky you!

bamik-sorry to hear your having a tough time with your dp at the moment, we're all here when you need to talk or if you need to rant. keep thinking of the baby and put you and baby first, you need to look after both of you afterall. Wow its aboy!- are you pleased?(not that you wouldnt be, i meant rather, were you hoping for one more than the other?)

firstbabyandnervous-sorry to hear about the arthiritis, its painful isnt it, and i suppose theres nothing else stronger you can take during pg other than co-codamol?

tex111-great news about the house, hope it goes through all ok, are you in a chain? if so is it very big?

chacha-ohh, what a saga, hope your asthma is now back under control, just take things easy-dont go overdoing it!

Well, been with my friend today and her 1yr old daughter, sat in garden whilst they poured water over each other and got throughly soaked!, you are right beksmum, my town IS like something out of the League of gentleman! and yes rodeo you guessed right its glastonbury!
feel like ive started retaining water already, feel quite swollen today! spd pain is starting to get worse in the evenings now and especially at night.
With ds I seemed to want sex all the time, but with this one, I dont know if its becuase of the heat or what but i just dont want to do it-attempted it yesterday morning but(sorry tmi!) had to get off as was overheating and felt faint and sick! poor dp!
dp seems to be getting into the whole baby thing now, he ordered a baby name book off amazon(as i sold our last one on ebay shortly after ds was born!!) so that shows hes taking more intrest and getting excited, hes even booked off the 4th to come with me for the scan.

there was loads of stuff i wanted to post about, but ive forgotten but nevermind, i'll post when i remember what i was going to say!(pregnancy dopeyness!)

Liz 18+4

Busyalexsmummy · 22/06/2005 21:25

oopps that is rather long-sorry!

tessasmum · 22/06/2005 22:35

Evening all.

Back from lovely trip to the Lake District. Ashamed to say I've never been before but really want to go back, as does DD who was distraught when we started taking the tent down yesterday - much wailing and cries of "Put it back!!" Then in the car we would get the occasional pitiful "No want go home!" I think she really enjoyed herself.

Sorry to hear about the invasion Busy, I know what you mean, I have been one of the weird and wonderful in my time!! Actually our trip to the Lakes was a jugglers event but there were only about 70 of us not 70,000+!!

Had my 20 week scan today and am floating around with a big grin on my face! Was definately underwhelmed by the 12 week one as it was so quick and the baby seemed so small. My 1st scan last time round was at 17 weeks (too dim to be aware that I was pg much before that!!) At 20 weeks its much more relaxed, everything was fine, baby was wriggling like a good'un and we got a brilliantly clear picture to bring back for Tessa. Also sonographer said it was easy getting a good view as I was "nice and slim" Wonderful woman who deserves a medal as I certainly don't feel it!!

Welcome to the new ones, hope you have realized that we don't bite!

As for exema(!), itches, etc I went to a Chinese herbalist to get stuff for DD and it worked brilliantly. No idea of the name as its all in Chinese but it might be worth a go.

Off now to sit in the garden as its too hot to sleep!

20 weeks today!

novadandypowder · 22/06/2005 22:42

Busy - the sickness has also died down for me to, sounds the same as yours, now only 1-4 times a week instead of per day. I have food cravings that last for a week, so far i've covered honey popcorn, hot dogs, cherries, cake and skips. Poor Dh gets so confused as one week i'll really want something and the next week i can't stand it. I read on another thread that someone was into chips and gravy, and this has now become this weeks fad.

Bamik - i'm still so tempted to find out what mine is, but DH would never forgive me. I tried to sneak a look in my scan but must have missed it.

ChaCha - I only now have an established bump at 20+4. Before then it would come and go, and certain clothes would make me look bigger/smaller. However now my t-shirts and vests don't quite cover me all the way to my waistband so i must be growing. Bring it on I say, i can't wait to have a full on bump (i will no doubt eat those words)

Firstbaby - i hope you've been able to put your feet up this evening

I would dearly love some sex, but too scared to try after my bleed at 18 weeks. I think that maybe once i get past 24 weeks i might try again. We've managed to book a last minute holiday for the end of July in Mallorca, so he might get lucky

Loving feeling the baby move, first felt it at about 17 weeks, but the movement has changed from a popping sensation to a stronger pulse like move.

I'm enjoying being able to chat to you ladies x

twinkle1 · 23/06/2005 08:35

morning all had to laugh while reading your posts, you think you have strange people around I live in the village where league of gentelmen is filmed!!!! thankfully im not local only lived here for 1 yr, yes the locals are very strange and so is the real butcher who really sells special sausges.......
Well it has to be 28 here again today so looks like a will be in the kids paddeling pool again(Its bliss)
have a good day

tex111 · 23/06/2005 09:24

Hi all! Another scorcher today. Think we might go hide out at Bluewater in the AC.

BEKs, got my Jigsaw Arts pack this morning and it looks great. I think DS would love it but now I need to convince DH. We're going to be paying more than planned for DS to go to a Montessori preschool because everything else in Blackheath is either full or booked. I have a feeling we're starting down a very expensive path. I contacted the Lewisham CIS and they've been great. Such a useful organisation. Glad your blood pressure is going down.

Busy, no chain really. We're going to rent for a while and our buyers have already exchanged so we're hoping it can all happen very quickly. Now I just need to find somewhere to live! I know what you mean about sex. I seem to think about it all the time but when it comes down to it, it's just too hot.

Bamik, wonderful news about your scan! Boys are fantastic. I remember when I was pregnant with DS it was so strange to think I had a little naked boy with a teeny tiny willy inside my tummy. Used to give me the giggles every time I thought about it. I'm sorry you're feeling so down. Let us know if we can help.

Nova, the mood swings can be tough. I had one earlier this week. Almost cried trying to get DS registered for nursery then came home and just wailed. Five seconds later I was making dinner and chatting away to DH. Crazy.

Think the baby had the hiccups yesterday. Either that or she was kicking very rhythmically! Off to jump in the shower and cool down so I can get too hot all over again! Hope you're all well.

BEKsmum · 23/06/2005 09:58

Morning girls,

Twinkle rofl that you live in that village, hope I didn't offend you!

Busy should have guessed it was Glastonbury, but always thought it was August Bank Holiday! Didn't melt in the car, found somewhere to sit outside and burnt my cleavage instead, very attractive

Tex ouch to the Montessori, are you trying for an immediate start or are you waiting till September, I know ds's pre-school are just sorting out Septembers intake so you might get lucky that way.
As to jigsaw tell your hubby that it will do ds's confidence the power of good and will give him a chance to express himself without ruining your house! Perhaps I shouldn't tell you that in the first week they taught Ben to pull silly faces and to stick his tongue out all in the guise of facial warm up exercises

Blimey Tessa do you ever spend any time at home? I'm really of your energy levels!

Right off to do some housework as my house is a sty, really can't be bothered 'cos it's so hot but it's got to be done.

Out for a curry with the girls tonight so will speak to you all this afternoon probably. Take care for now Beks 19+4

ChaCha · 23/06/2005 10:15

Good morning
Feeling well today and much, much better. Thanks for all your well wishes etc..
Glad i'm not the only one with not much of a bump, ppl keep telling me that they wouldn't know i was pregnant if i hadn't told them I can tell there's a bump though, so that's fine. As for movement - i sometimes feel that i can feel something, like i'm aware it's there - especially at night when lying in bed - who knows? Do hope its okay, am really looking fwd to scan.

Hope you're all enjoying great weather and look after yourselves. Am off for a stress free morning in the garden. x

Bains · 23/06/2005 10:44

Hi All...sooo hot today... its really playing havoc with my sleep.

I have to tell you girls about my evening. I went to pregnancy yoga last night and I was really sceptical about the whole thing but I have to say it was really good. it was nice to see other pregnancy mums and the teacher was brillant (apparently she has trained for years in childbirth and helped amazonian women give birth in the rainforest!). it was really nice just to stretch and get rid of all those niggling aches and pains....is anyone else doing yoga ? Everyone tells me mixed things about it ...i.e. it can be bad for your muscles/it can help your labour....does anyone have any views.

I am going to one of the hospital antenatal classes today - "how to look after yourself in pregnancy" .....everyone says they are not that great but its worth seeing what they are like.

Have fun in the sun everyone!

PS Chacha - sorry to hear about the asthma...I have it too and I know it can be quite scary....but glad to hear you are ok.
