Here we go -

Hpoefully in this one we'll all get to feel those kicks and turns if we haven't already, some of us will go for our 20 week scans, and we might get to look preg instead of looking like we've eaten too many cream cakes!

No more scares in this one though please!

Your discussing another already you must be mad. Never heard of acupunture for the sickness but I was told to try a plain biscut and a cup of tea to settle my stomach. It seemed to do the trick.

Enthusia · 20/06/2005 17:16

Hiya all

Cor bust weekend or what. Glad everyone was out enjoying the sun!

Welcome Novadandypowder - there are quite a few first time mums on here now!!

Bains - I didn't realise you were the 11th as well, same as me!!!!

Well as for maternity leave, I will be going on the 22nd July as like ChaCha, I am teaching and not renewing my contract next year. However, I feel I will have my work cut out with moving house etc in that time.

Sorry to all of you out there with sickness, rashes etc, for once I can say I am quite well, apart from tiredness and stabbing pains on the right side of my bump if I move to fast or in the wrong position.

Did have a shock on Sunday though as my Dad had a minor stroke. He is only 52! They are living in Spain, so I feel really far away. Speak to them everyday though as Dad has a direct line into his hospital room. He is having various tests etc, so hopefully we should know the cause soon and be able to treat it.

Think I am feeling bubs kicking more today, quite lively earlier, it is still a weird sensation though and I keep thinking I might be getting excited over wind

Hi Ladies,

Hope you're all well. I'm 18 + 2 today. Felt baba properly move for the 1st time yesterday and hasn't stopped since I mean if you put u'r hand on my tum U can feel it. Very weird but great! Scan on Weds. Very excited.

rodeo1 · 20/06/2005 18:10

Hello all,

Just a quick one while the children are quietly munching on corn on the cob!

Welcome Nova! Have had to shorten it as I can't remember it all, oh, I remember the days when I had a brain! Sorry to hear about all your sickness, some people just seem to suffer horrendously. Glad you had a lovely scan - you are very good to have resisted finding out the sex!

Ooh diege! That programme sounds brill! Will def watch it - those poor mothers though! Is this your 3rd baby diege? Are your stats on the list yet?!

Hamster, I'm going to get a maclaren stroller, more practical for my situation but I'll use a baby carrier at first as newborns seem a bit lost in stollers! IMO anyway!

Enthusia, hope your dad's ok. Great your feeling movement now! It won't be wind!!

20+5 x x x

I've got my scan today - I'm really nervous - good job it's in the morning. Diege you've got yours too haven't you - good luck to you! Jenjam's supposed to be having her's too but she not back yet is she?

Rodeo - Do you mean you've got your scan tomorrow? How lovely!

Enthusia - Sorry to hear about your dad, hope all is well.

Welcome Nova

Am in sympathy with those itching/sick, I have the worst hayfever ever with only a nasal spray for relief Asthma is also bad. Feel that sometimes when i sneeze my stomach is being ripped apart inside - very odd. Hope we all feel better soon.

Counting days until NO WORK!

rodeo1 · 20/06/2005 21:43

Yes Chacha, sorry it is tomorrow! Today (?) - how thick!

It'll be about 3+ hours so will speak to you all tomorrow. Dp doesn't know if he'll be able to stay all that time. He arranged something at work thinking we'd get scan straight away at 9.30, but today I explained (!) that I see mw first for hosp booking and history, then they'll no doubt be a wait for scan, then I see consultant after that. Men, eh? Do they ever listen? It's not as if he's not done it before!!!

Rant over, hopefully will bring back good news tomorrow x x x x x x x x x xx x x x x x x x x

Looking fwd to hearing your news Rodeo...will log in after work. Pooh! Really can't be bothered anymore...sooo tired and sick today...
Want a holiday!!!!!

BEKsmum · 21/06/2005 09:47

Morning all, Welcome aboard Nova, sorry you've had it so rough, hope you start to feel better soon.

Enthusia sorry to hear about your dad, hope he's on the mend real quick, know how you feel about being so far away from your parents, so if you need to rant or let off steam just let me know! By the way that's definitely not wind you're feeling

Rodeo hope you have a fantastic scan, come back and tell us how you got on won't you. Very of you, can't believe I've got to wait another whole month - boo

You guys that are itching have you tried a bicarbonate of soda bath, same as you give kids when they have chicken pox? It stops itching fast, I got a mosquito bite while I was away and my mum made me put bicarb on it and it took the itch away almost immediately and it lasted for longer than the creams do, which of course we can't use anyway - just a thought!

Had the day from hell yesterday as ds had a nosebleed in the morning and then attempted to throw up all over me in the afternoon, think it was just the heat, oh the joys of parenting, especially when I felt like pants too - still getting odd sickness days like the rest of you, very annoying this far on!!!

Hope you all have a good day, I get to spend 45 minutes sweltering in my car while ds goes to Microsports at lunch time as there is nowhere for parents to wait and it's to far to go home and back in time!
Speak to you all later Beks 19+2

novadandypowder · 21/06/2005 11:41

Thanks for your kind welcome.

Is anyone else feeling quite overwhelmed and emotional at the mo? Up til now i've had no problems with hormonal mood swings (lucky DH) but over the last couple of days i keep getting hit by a very big urge to cry for no apparent reason...

hollybelle · 21/06/2005 12:32

Hi all
Just back from a dull week in Norfolk and now the weather is lovely! My dd (13 months) has chicken pox so I'm just waiting for my ds (3yrs) to start with it. At least I get another week off work!
Good sale on at Jojomamanbebe.co.uk both mat wear and childrens clothes.
Welcome to all the newbies and I hope all the scans go well

sarahsausage · 21/06/2005 14:04

Hiya ladies,

weather not too bad here now, at least i can sleep, although dd is making sure i dont get too much!

I too was looking at the phil and teds explorer, anyone had any experience with one?

Nova - i was exactly same with first. Luckily it didnt last too long for me. Felt loads better at about 25 weeks.

Think im starting to feel baby move now so starting to seem more real. Scan in 2 weeks and cant wait

Enthusia · 21/06/2005 16:21

Hiya

Thanks for the messages. Dad has had a CT scan and an MRI and is being sent home with a portable ECG machine until the test result are back. All sounds very hopeful, so am not as worried now.

I am definitely feeling bubs move now. DH felt it this morning too. It tends to be more in the evenings and mornings, but know if this is because I am so busy the rest of the day I don't notice it as much.

Feeling crappy this afternoon - so hot started to feel sick and dizzy and my class were pains in the arse. Glad to be home, going to chill now.

Bicarbonate of Soda, for itching, will have to tell that to my Mum who is covered in mozzie bites at the mo, great tip!!!!!

As for emotions, I have been on a rollercoaster of them for weeks now, feel as if my just be calming now, not been nice for DH or myself!

Scan 2 weeks today, hooray!!! Rodeo - hope yours went well.

rodeo1 · 21/06/2005 16:41

Hello all,

Had scan today - baby is so cute, even if I do say so myself!!! Baby is fine, everything in order, not sure of the sex as it had it's legs clamped shut but sonographer thought that it may be a girl, but shes definitely not definite!!!

Then went to see registrar and she say's as my uterus was quite thin last time they'll try and deliver at 37 wks at the latest, maybe 36 which is a bit scary. Will have to have growth scans too at 28,32 and 35 weeks to be booked in for ECS on my 35 wk appt. Also to have BP done fortnightly from 26 weeks and weekly from 32 weeks! So I can't complain about them not looking after me! Also going to have my tubes tied in great big knots during section

Spoke to my friends at toddlers, they advised to put my feet up from 34 weeks do as little as poss and wear a support belt to keep pressure on my scar to a minimum Any other advice girls?

Not read anyone's posts, hope you are all ok

Hey Ladies,

Got my scan tomorrow - YIPEEEE

Tessasmum got hers too

Please God let them be able to tell me what I am having. I'll even run twice round the block if it helps!

ChaCha · 21/06/2005 17:08

Hey Rodeo - great news that everything is well with bubs No advice from me i'm afraid, i need advice from you!!!

Beks - Hope your DS is better, must be the weather - when are you going to post some pics?

Nova - I have the odd tearful moment and then get quite emotional. I threw some clothes down the stairs at the weekend and had an uncalled for tantrum..i then hugged DH, said i was sorry and asked for a pizza!!!! Quite mad! Luckily he can have a good sense of humour.

One thing that does bother me right now is when i get told 'your hormones are getting the better of you' or 'its just your hormones' especially at work! Grrrr... maybe i'm just a pain to work with right now and haven't noticed

Classroom was too hot today, glad to be home. Enjoying coca-cola on ice and an omelette on toast...what you all munching on then????

Enthusia - glad your dad is on the mend

Maybe i'm going for my blood tests tomorrow...i'm going to be sooooo brave. I will arrange my niche for return with lots of coke in the fridge and a good movie....

I am rabbiting now...i must be lonely, LOL

ChaCha · 21/06/2005 17:10

Bami
Our posts crossed. God willing everything will be okay. Look fwd to your news, it's v.exciting. How are you keeping anyway?

bamik · 21/06/2005 17:22

Hey Chacha,

Have no appetite at the mo, probably cus me & DH going through what I'll call a 'rough patch'. I know that it's not good for me. I just eat to keep energy up and to make sure baba gets something. I've been eating lots of fruit and drinking lots of juice as well.

Dunno about anyone else but my skin looks fantastic, not just my face - I mean even my legs look great and I've always suffered with horrible dry legs! I've been using this palmers stretch mark massage cream all over my body and it has done wonders! Wow it's true that some women do get the 'flawless' look when they're pg!

Just trying to stay positive at the mo. Thinking lots about baba is really keeping me going.

Love,

Bami x

Enthusia · 21/06/2005 18:34

Bamik, sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch. DH and I were also going through a bit of a rough patch, so sending hugs your way!

Rodeo - Glad scan went well, what of lot of people you saw and will see, really will be looking after you which is great!

ChaCha- it was 90o in my classroom today, have come home so knackered. I am eating nearly anything I can lay my hands on at the mo, hope I don't put on too much weight!

BEKsmum · 21/06/2005 20:38

Evening girls, Rodeo glad everything went well at your scan, baby must have known you wanted to know so was being contrary - must be a girl a boy would have been proudly showing you all he had .
If it makes you feel any better I had Ben at 37 weeks and he was 6lb 7oz and he was fine, a little jaundiced but nothing to worry about.

Chacha there is absolutely no way that I'll be posting a picture , I don't have many of myself anyway, I make sure I take them but will try to get one of Ben to show you all. He's much better thanks, & has been a pain in the a**e all day. Good luck with the blood tests tomorrow, you'll get used to it I promise!

Bamik have you tried the original palmers cocoa butter it smells yummy! Hope everything smooths out with your dh, it's a stresful time for both of you but we're nearly half way through now so hang on in there and try to give each other some space, he's probably just worried about you but being argumentative instead of supportive, my dh didn't tell me how worried he was about me last time till I told him I was pregnant again - men go figure!

Enthusia tell your mum to make the bite wet and them rub the bicarb on like a paste, glad to hear they are letting your dad home, the quality of care out there is 2nd to none isn't it.

Hollybelle sorry to hear about the chicken pox, what a nightmare time to get it, hope your three year old gets away lightly.

Tex if you're out there, cat me and I'll give you all the details on Jigsaw arts, they have a website and classes in Blackheath if that's where you're moving to, or am I making that bit up?

Right going to bed as I feel like c**p and even fell asleep leaving ds to his own devises today - naughty mummy, speak to you all tomorrow. Beks

HellKat · 22/06/2005 08:24

BEKsmum · 22/06/2005 08:51

Morning all,

Hi ya HK sweetheart, how are you doing? The holiday was great, what happened to you took a spare suitcase to smuggle you away and you didn't show up . No, all in all a relaxing time was had by all, lots of time spent on the beach and stuffing our faces what more could you ask from a holiday!
Sounds like you're having fun practicing, got everything crossed for you as you're obviously not crossing anything [wink}Keep up the good work!

Hope the girls with scans have a good day today.

Feeling particularly grumpy this morning as went to bed at 8:30pm but couldn't get to sleep and eventually went off at midnight and ds decided to get up at 6:15am a whole hour and three quarters early, which means he'll be a grumpy little b*er this afternoon.
Not that I'm counting but so far he has said "mum" 64 times already today which is driving me nuts considering there's only me and him here!!! I have a blood pressure check this morning and I think the mood I'm in it will be even higher than usual - arrgghhhh!!!!

Hope everyone has a good day and enjoys the sunshine, speak to you all later Beks 19+3

HellKat · 22/06/2005 09:20

Beks- Did you check out my little ds's pic? Up on profiles.

firstbabyandnervous · 22/06/2005 09:25

Hi all! Just wanted to have a bit of a moan sorry.
I suffer with arthritis and it hasnt been too bad for ages but for some reason its just flared up.My knees are so swollen they are like balloons and carrying around the extra weight is a nightmare.Unfortunately im in work so I cant even sit with my feet up to let the swelling go down.I just feel like crying my eyes out .

Rodeo - Glad your scan went well and best of luck to everyone else who has scans coming up.
