wizzywoo the classes at Dance City are great. I really really enjoyed it. It sounds a bit lame, but getting an hour and a half to think about myself (oh, and the baby ) instead of chasing after a toddler was a complete luxury. They are in 4 week courses though, so if you joined now you'd miss the first one. I don't know if that would matter really as I can imagine there's a lot of repetition.

I know what you mean about needing to rest after Monday. DD is not at nursery on Mondays either. Yesterday on the bus to the hospital I felt so sick and had to ask her to stop asking me questions for a minute (She talks non-stop, all day long). I explained I didn't feel very well and she said she'd look after me - didn't stop asking questions though! Last night when I put her to bed, just as I was leaving she said 'Mummy, I'll look after you all the time'. (thought for a bit) 'and I'll look after Daddy... we'll all look after each other'. That was enough to make me cry yesterday!

Oh, DH works in accounts at the Freeman. It's the grotty looking building that looks like council flats.

Trikken · 22/09/2009 13:52

hey everyone, you written so much. Had a good day yesterday with it being dh's birthday, apart fom ds not wanting to go to playgroup, but think that was because he thought daddy might have cake without him!

broodzilla, mw appts every two weeks, thats frequent. mine have been every six weeks so far. might change after mw appt on fri tho.

am constantly tired at the moment, think it is probably par for the course at this stage.

Broodzilla · 22/09/2009 13:53

Wizzy Happy Holiday/Mat Leave! Crossed posts, but that reminded me that I meant to say:

Wook Good luck! It's stressful timing-wise, but you know what they say about messing with pregnant ladies... I recently did something similar and the outcome was far better than I expected. I think standing up for myself got me some respect (there'll never be much from said person) but more importantly, it made ME feel better: I can't change the other person, she's got a reputation reaching far and wide, but I can at least make sure I don't take the s**t lying down IYSWIM. Also, these things tend to have a snowball effect, so once one person has spoken up someone else will pluck up the courage... it's rare for bullies to just have one victim IME...

tigger32 · 22/09/2009 13:56

I have just spoken to one of the mums from school, she had her baby at the side of the road on her way to the hospital They were both ok, but the baby was very small just 5lb, she (mum) looked huge and was told they thought the baby would be a good 10lb! Apparently the placenta had started to fail so the baby wasn't getting enough food. Thankfully all ok now!

lemontop · 22/09/2009 14:01

wizzywoo Isaac is our first choice name but we're going to wait and see if he suits it when he's born. Part of me is still not convinced they've got the sex right so will wait and see till after the birth!

skorpion · 22/09/2009 14:07

becky at your son being named after Luke Skywalker. We used to be sci-fi addicts, too. Ah, those were the days, drinking and watching countless StarTrek episodes on video...

BeckyBendyLegs · 22/09/2009 14:16

I am the sad proud owner of this book: the best baby name book ever thanks to DH.

BBL, my husband had a teen employee once who was determined to name her baby Anakin Han (and a girl Stormy Skye - hard to know which is worse, really!) Fortunately she changed her mind at the last minute, bless her.

Yikes to the side-of-the-road baby - I think that images of a birth like that must slide through the brains of every bloke who's ever had to drive a huffing and panting woman to hospital! It certainly features on my DH's list of Things I Do Not Ever Want to Deal With, Ever.

I've just heard two birth stories from local mums whose babies had dystocia (shoulders got stuck on the way out) and needed oxygen. I thought this was fairly rare?! Just the thought of stuck shoulders makes me clamp my legs together automatically...

skorpion · 22/09/2009 15:04

We have a friend who would definitely want to have a look at that book. Shame he's not planning to have kids any time soon, but I'll keep it in mind for the time he does. What fun!

LissyGlitter · 22/09/2009 15:05

Wizzywoo and laugs

Am I right in thinking you are both in the north east? I live in Washington, but go to uni in Newcastle centre (Northumbria) so we should meet up or something! Did you say there is yoga at dance city? Is it a special pregnancy one?

If you (or anyone else off this thread!) wants to, add me on facebook. My email address is aliciajduffy at googlemail dot com (I have to type it out long like that as otherwise spammers get it) so if you search for that email address you should find me!

Laugs · 22/09/2009 15:59

Yeah, it would be great to all meet up! There is a 4 week course called Yoga for Pregnancy at Dance City. The one I'm on started last week, so there must be another one starting in October too. There's also aquanatal but it seems to only be at the East End pool. I can't do it as it's on a Monday and there's no creche (DD not at nursery), but it's quite near some Northumbria University buildings.

hobnob57 · 22/09/2009 16:02

Hi guys, just back from MW appointment. My blood glucose results were borderline from 28 weeks, but I managed to persuade her not to re-test since I'd been fed a chocolate bar by a well-meaning colleague 2 hours before the test .

She also told me that being booked in for a scan at 36 weeks is not normal up here, and we worked out from DD's birth that they must be concerned about my pelvis size. I thought it was routine to check for placenta praevia after a cs, but apparently not so. I told her my concerns about going back into labour ward and how I feel the odds are stacked against me for having a normal birth without unnecessary intervention and she is going to organise an appointment for me with a MW in the MW-led unit who specialises in low-intervention VBACs, hopefully on the same day as the scan/consultant appointment at 36 weeks. I wonder what the realistic chances are of her being on duty if/when I go into labour, but it'll be well worth speaking to her. Especially since DH got so freaked out by DD going into distress last time that I think he's afraid of labour and more in favour of me having another cs (which I want to avoid entirely if I can). It might help him to be more at peace with things and not to ask them to section me at the first sign of concern. What I am concerned about is going overdue again, because I really don't want to be induced again (although I don't think they can use the drip after a cs). Hmmm. Lots of questions for this consultant.

Laugs I thought I was the only person in the world with a non-stop talkative (at volume) toddler! It really scrambles your brain sometimes - DH in particular doesn't deal with it well. But she has the vocabulary of a child well ahead of her peers.

LissyGlitter · 22/09/2009 16:36

hobnob I have a very nosy DD- "Mummy, what you doing? Is my baby sister fine? Is she in your tummy? Are you poorly? My baby sister is heavy. Is your tummy hurting? My tummy is poorly, I need my pink medicine. Mummy, can I have my pink medicine? I sit on your knee. I cuddle you and hug you and kiss you. What you doing now?" and so on, if I just sit down! I dread to think what she would be like if she really did have tummyache and wasn't just after calpol!

hobnob57 · 22/09/2009 17:05

Consultant MW just called and confirmed that the scan is for placenta praevia and not for size , and that she'll see me instead of the consultant at 36 weeks after the scan .

I really wasn't happy about the prospect of being bullied into 'standard procedures' at this appointment.

southernbelle77 · 22/09/2009 17:13

Been awol for a while and not had proper chance to catch up yet. DD been sent home poorly and if her breathe is anything to go by, think it might be tonsilitus again - will only be about the 8th time they say they can't do anything for her! She's currently lying on the sofa covered in a duvet, bless her!

Anyway, wanted to add myself to the list...

Heelo everyone, just checking in to say hi and then off to bed - exHAUSTed today. Had a rubbish day at work, feel being taken advantage a bit re covering other classes and one of the teachers I line-manage was really rude and obnoxious during a meeting. She kept huffing about having to be there because she wanted a (fag!) break before her play duty, but actually was making it worse by complaining so much we couldn't get through the agenda, duh! Then she was snotty to me when I reminded her of a favour I'd agreed to do her! Grrrr! What is wrong with some people?!

tigger - I know loads of people have posted about this already but if you really feel you managed to get all your hosp bag AND stuff for first few days in one shopping trip, can you tell me what you got so I can copy you this weekend please?!

erika glad to hear good news about the scan! I have another one in a few weeks too

Also, hello to all you reappearing 'lurkers'!

Right - night night x

ErikaMaye · 22/09/2009 20:52

Just popping by (House is on soon, I missed it Sunday and am a fan of in love with Hugh Laurie!) - went to physio today. Confirmed SPD (Delightful!) and gave me a support belt and crutches. My goodness, I wish I'd got them ages ago, they've made the pain so much more bareable, and helping with my ME too! Might keep hold of them for a bit longer Bit of a bother using them inside / going on stairs, but hey. I was used to using my stick anyway.

Quick (possible silly) question - those of you that are using support belts. Do they have to be worn on the outside of clothes? I was only wearing trackie bottoms and a camisole today, so that's where she put mine, but didn't think to ask

Hope you're all well, will catch up later!!

hobnob57 · 22/09/2009 20:59

erika wear the belt under or over clothes. I find it comfier over clothes but obviously it's not ideal!

ErikaMaye · 22/09/2009 23:45

Thanks Hobnob - might do that and see if I can find a bump band to go over it!! Did try putting it underneath - Mum said it looked too odd to be right on the outside! - but was very itchy, and rather irritating, especially against my stretch marks. Outside it is!!

Have added myself to the list. Oddly my dates don't quite match everyone elses, apparently in France we get an extra week of pregnancy

I'm def 34weeks though as I had a scan yesterday. Baby was fine bang on "normal" but a maybe a problem with the umbilical cord. Doc said not to worry as he sees this quite often but not to go on the internet... so guess what I did as soon as I got home! Had a major panic yeserday bu I'm sure any really serious problems would have been picked up before now.

I'll ask the MW Friday - on the plus side of been on sofa bed rest the MW comes to me twice a week!

ursigurke · 23/09/2009 08:40

maman, maybe in French it's the same as in German? In German I would say that I am in the 35th week whereas in English I count the completed weeks, so I say I'm 34 weeks pregnant. (At the beginning I much prefered the German way, it sounded sooooo much more pregnant and advanced, now with all the unprepared things, the English way sounds much more relaxing...
Anyway, in both cases you start counting from the first day of your last period.
Pavlov, how are you today? I don't think you posted yesterday or I've missed it? Maybe you could sleep all day? I hope the antibiotics are working.

Laugs · 23/09/2009 08:50

Ooh had my first labour dream last night! It was delightfully quick and painless, despite the fact I gave birth to twins. Then I left them at home and went shopping

Kyte my first stop for all things cheap is usually Primark, but you could also try TK Maxx as they normally have a big range of sportswear.

I can't believe how many of you are suffering with SPD. I'd never even heard of it before . It sounds so painful and I really feel for you all. Kyte if you want, I am going to town on Friday so can have a look which shops have high waisted tracky bottoms, so you don't have to make an unnecessary trip?
