Oh mummyhill, how horrible, I've become overly paranoid about being stung by a wasp so that sounds truly horrific, bless you. Hope you feel better soon x

MrsChemist · 04/09/2009 13:12

Thanks everyone. I tried salt bath. Will now try lavender and tea tree and arnica.

Mummyhill, hope your feeling better after your run in with a wasp.

ladylush · 04/09/2009 14:14

Neddie - it was a good 2 weeks before I felt able to move around normally. Now 8 weeks later it is fine and I even went swimming this week. Hope you heal soon. It must be hard with two babies to look after.

LittleCheese · 04/09/2009 14:52

lovely to hear from you Neddie and Mrsc glad you are home with your babies and hope things settle down for both of you soon.

Well I'm 39 + 6 today so due tomorrow. Been to see midwife today who is still convinced that baby is engaged and has been for 4 weeks now why doesn't this baby just want to come out.

Got to go back next Friday for a sweep and to book an induction if baby hasn't arrived

JRocks · 04/09/2009 15:20

stardust - when I worked at h & b we weren't allowed to advise arnica cream for broken skin, you had to advise calendula instead, has this changed? (It was quite a few years ago)

SprinkleofStardust · 04/09/2009 15:31

Oh sorry, you are right, arnica cream is for bruising isn't it, god I'm being stupid at the moment.

Minshu · 04/09/2009 15:55

Oooh - mummyhill - that sounds horrendous!! Hope it's feeling a bit better by now.

Good to hear from you, Neddie. Hope that the LOs start putting on weight soon.

Hoping not to have CS, but coming to terms with the fact that the probability of that has increased with my awkward LO...

Been through all the remaining donated baby clothes this morning and sorted into piles by type and age / size. Even from the same manufacturer, there's such a huge variation in sizes. Some of the 0-3 month is smaller than "newborn" - it's crazy, but no different to what happens with adult sizes, I guess. Some gorgeous things, though, and some still with the tags on.

BabyLady · 04/09/2009 17:04

Hi all, news to report. Baby Toby was born on Tuesday 1st September at 11:47pm. Labour was pretty long but relatively pain free after an epidural. Pretty good size boy at 8lbs 6, but is feeding well as a result (I think!).

Just home from the hospital today so haven't had a chance to catch up on all the other news but will have a read in the next few days.

Hope everyone is well and congrats to any new arrivals I have missed in the last 5 days.

Ladyem · 04/09/2009 17:13

mummyhill hope your run in with the wasp is getting better! Sounds awful! I got stung by a wasp under the arm last year and it was so painful, so I can only imagine what it must be like to be stung on your eyelid!

Neddie Glad to hear you are home and that the little ones are well! Hope that they start to gain soon and that your scar starts to feel better.

MrsC good to hear that your LO is a good boy!! When I was in the delivery suite they ran me a bath with lavender oil in to help with the healing. It was lovely!! I had quite extensive stitching last time with DD, so I can truly sympathise with your pain, but it does get better after a few weeks.

Can't believe so many are due around this weekend! Hopefully by the end of next week there will be more birth announcements!!

I had an interesting chat with my HV yesterday and she said that women who are quite tall seem to suffer with SPD more. I don't know if that applies to many of us on here with it, but I'm 5'10" and so it seemed to make sense for me!! Apparently something to do with having longer ligaments, so causing more pain.

AprilMeadow · 04/09/2009 17:40

Congratulations BabyLady on the arrival of baby Toby.

Mummyhill, OUCH that sounds awful!!

peachygirl · 04/09/2009 18:05

Congratulations babylady.
neddie I agree with the arnica, you can get it in Boots and the tea tree and lavender oil for the bath - makes you smell though. Also keep moisturising your tum. I felt like I had terrible sunburn after my section last time and moisturising did help - not directly on the scar though.

oops sorry had a bizarre message come up then two posts

JRocks · 04/09/2009 18:29

stardust, not stupid, just pregnant! You wouldn't believe the numbskull stuff I've been doing!

I'm actually amazed I remember anything from back then tbh. But you're right on the tablets...

Congratulations babylady!

I want my turn now

Ladyem · 04/09/2009 18:39

Congratulations babylady!! Lovely news! Glad you are both well and that Toby is feeding well!

LadyStealthPolarBear · 04/09/2009 18:59

Congratulations BabyLady

Was definitely right to change my name to include a 'Lady' - was going to change back but think I'll keep it for a few more days!

TrixieBelden · 04/09/2009 19:11

Great news, BabyLady! Love the name Toby, so glad he's doing well.

Amazing how condescending so many medical professionals are. I shouted at my consultant a couple of weeks back when he wouldn't tell me what my blood pressure was ('I just told you, it's normal'). On the other hand, I got a nice registrar this week who said baby is in ideal position, plenty of amniotic fluid, etc, so I don't hate all doctors. Right now.

Baffled by twinklegreen's rescheduling -- that new EDD sounds mad. Can you have the scan redone by someone more qualified?

Hope the c-section incision heals fast, Neddie.

6 days till EDD here. I've been having crazy contractions in the evenings that taper off when I get in bed. But oh lord, the pain before they do. Right down my inner thighs -- anyone else have that? Not sure how much longer I can keep this up. DD has started school (to her absolute delight), I've stocked the fridge and paid all the bills. I have nothing left to do that I possibly CAN do (can't really cope with hoovering without screaming back pain). So I think a long walk is on the cards tomorrow to see if we can get things moving.

TigerFeet · 04/09/2009 19:20

Congratulations BabyLady and welcome to Toby

My lower back is killing me and I have period pain like you wouldn't believe . I'm definitely getting to the point now where I am removing my head from the sand and hoping that this baby comes sooner rather than later.

I know a few people in RL who are due over the next few days too... one is having a CS on Weds, one will be induced on Weds if she hasn't delivered by then, and another is overdue too. We'll be clogging up the labour ward at this rate!

blue76 · 04/09/2009 20:16

Congratulations Babylady

Last day at work today (thank feck). Cancelled ECV for next Tues - decided I can't go through it again. Hoping she'll turn on her own, but after talking to lots of colleagues over the past few days, those who have had cs said they preferred it to vb. Just worried about being invalid, as dp puts it.

So 10 days to go for me. Feeling very moody and the brain is completely addled.

Minshu · 04/09/2009 20:55

Congratulations, BabyLady!!!

And congrats on finishing work, blue. It's taken a few days for it to sink in for me, but getting used to it now.

I'm the only one not desperately hoping for any labour signs right now - just want baby to move into the right place first.

Had a call from one of the hospital midwives this evening asking where I was and why I hadn't turned up to be admitted this morning. Turns out the obstetrician's message about me staying at home hadn't got through. Oops. Midwife was very nice about it, though, and there wasn't even a hint of me being naughty in her voice

ladylush · 04/09/2009 23:10

blue - I heard that a lot of babies flip straight back to breech when turned via ECV. One theory is that they like to be near the mother's heart. Don't know how credible that is but dd's favourite position is lying on her front on my chest (head resting above boobs).

SprinkleofStardust · 04/09/2009 23:12

Congratulations Babylady, Toby is a lovely name, one that we considered and a healthy weight too!!

Thanks JRocks I'm just feeling so dappy at the moment, it's like any remaining brain cells I did have have completely deserted me in these final couple of weeks, going for a walk round a maize maze tomorrow... if water break and we're in the middle it could be interesting but still anything to encourage this little one OUT!!!

LittleCheese · 04/09/2009 23:41

are you in york sprinkle? There is a huge maize maze at york we were hoping baby would be here and dp on paternity leave to have a day out there before it closed for the season. Think we will have to leave it till next year by looks of things though

mummyhill · 05/09/2009 08:28

Congratulations Babylady and welcome to the world Toby.

Eye feels better this morning thanks for all the sympathy.

blue76 · 05/09/2009 08:38

Ooh Littlecheese, there's a maize maze near me too and I've been dying to go

Ladylush, that theory does make sense! Thank you for letting me know x

Right I think I may have a wonderful tip to start labour off...I went into labour in the early hrs after watching a comedy the night before (dd2). Last night we decided to watch Bruno (ahem, got hold of a copy ). I had to ask dp to turn it off after 30 mins as I was laughing so hard it brought on REALLY strong contractions, which came every 6 mins for over an hr. I panicked - don't want to have this baby yet as cs is planned for 15th.

Honestly, give it a go - even if it doesn't work it'll cheer you up. I have to warn though that it is SO politically incorrect (more so than Borat). I'm gutted and hoping I don't have to wait too long to watch the rest of it.
