15 spaces left so thought I'd bite the bullet!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LJ29 · 03/09/2009 11:44

My hips and back are awful at night and sometimes my knees play up as well. I think its just the extra weight putting so much pressure on our joints.

nitnat84 · 03/09/2009 12:17

Just back from my 38 week and 3 days appointment and baby has its head 2/5ths into my pelvis. Thought baby was never going to start moving down!
With you on the aching! Getting a lot of period type backache.

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 12:19

oooh backache - can't that be where your contractions start?
I want something to happen - bored of waiting, eating butter beans and drinking nasty tasting water now!

SprinkleofStardust · 03/09/2009 12:36

Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not just falling apart!! I thought it was probably just the strain on my body after all these months of carrying round the extra weight but it's good to know I'm not alone

Would really like something to happen now but there's still 9 days til EDD so I suppose it's unlikely... do you think it makes any difference on your 'period date' and your 'scan date'? My first due date was the 6th but after the scan they said the 12th, I hadn't thought about it until the midwife asked if the EDD fitted in with my period date and now with too much time on my hands I'm analysing every little thing in the hope it will mean he'll come sooner!!

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 12:40

yeah me too - my original due date was the 5th but that got put back to the 12th after the scan. so if I hadn't had the dating scan I'd be expecting something to happen this Saturday

SprinkleofStardust · 03/09/2009 12:41

Stealth when are you due? I've just checked the stats thread and can't see you on there, it may just be my baby brain!!

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 12:42

ooh I'llhave to have a look

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 12:46

right I've added myself - I did know I was due the same day as you but get easily confused! I was one of the question marks at the top - joined the thread before my first MW appointment.

SprinkleofStardust · 03/09/2009 12:46

Oh haha, cross threaded!! So do we keep our fingers crossed that maybe our first dates are accurate or is that just going to set us up for further disappointment? I'm really quite bored now, can you tell?

SprinkleofStardust · 03/09/2009 12:47

Ah I see!! Confusion is something that I am just learning to live with now, can't imagine ever knowing exactly what is going on again, maybe it's better that way

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 13:02

i agree...i think

audreyraines · 03/09/2009 13:31

apparently scan dates tend to be more accurate than LMP dates, but it is even better if you know when you ovulate. if you tend to have a long cycle, you might presume that ovulation was a bit later than day 14, if you have a short cycle, then a bit earlier, hence affecting your due date slightly.

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 13:35

no, I haven't got a clue! Think the scan date's probably more accurate but it would be nice to think not

audreyraines · 03/09/2009 13:41

my scan and LMP dates agree, but i know for a fact that i ovulated about day 19 rather than 14, so I may be 5 days later than otherwise ... sigh. i'm hoping the issue will be moot and i won't have to enter into arguments about induction timing or being denied homebirth due to postdates etc. i just never imagined getting past 40 weeks as ds was born at 38. praying for some action this weekend!

SprinkleofStardust · 03/09/2009 13:52

It's quite complicated isn't it? I haven't a clue when I ovulated, we'll just have to see what happens and go with the flow, I'll race ya Stealth!!

Minshu · 03/09/2009 15:31

Afternoon. I've had a few restless nights, but slept like a log last night. Wouldn't have done had I known what kind of day I had in store. Went for presentation scan, which showed that the baby is presenting shoulder first which gives the risk of cord prolapse. The (female) registrar wanted to get me admitted to a consultant led unit until I delivered, instead of the nice little midwifery unit. I'm only 37+2 with no indications of an imminent labour, so that could have been 5 weeks.

Fortunately, the head obstetrician (another woman, but one who likes "things to be normal as possible") has decided that she doesn't want me cluttering the place up for that long, so has given me strict instructions to carry my ante-natal notes at all times, and get myself to a major maternity unit ASAP if I get any cramps / af-type pains which could indicate dilation (sounds familiar, nitnat?) or if my waters break. Such a relief - I would have gone stir crazy in hospital and no idea if I'd have internet access, so would have missed you lot terribly.

Baby is now measuring a week and a half ahead, and estimated at just under 8 lb (even the midwife admitted that was not reliable, though).

My ribs are sore a lot of the time, my hips and back from time to time and my pubic bone if I've done a bit of walking or swimming, but that settles fairly quickly. My knees and ankles have been crackly for years, but are a bit worse than normal at the moment.

Better get on with some more preparations - might not have as much time at home as I thought... where is that nesting instinct hiding???

Nothing from bexaa or littlecheese?

twinklegreen · 03/09/2009 15:31

Hi everyone, congratulations to all who have already had their babies!

Feels like I still have a long way to go, especially as I seem to have 42 week pregnancies.

My due date was originally the 9th Sept but has been put back to the 28th!! Which I don't agree with, my scan was done by an unsupervised student sonographer. It would mean that I got a +ve pregnancy test 4 days after conception occured, I know exactly when I ovulated as I was charting and the dates they have given me are at least a week out! Also been told that the earliest they will induce me will be 12th Oct (where I'll be 43+ weeks, by my dates) Just praying that this one comes out on time so I won't have to stress about it all

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 15:33

oh no Minshu! Glad you were allowed out (as long as you behave )

twinklegreen · 03/09/2009 15:39

Sorry minshu crossed posts with you. Glad they have let you home, can't think of anything worse than being stuck in hospital just waiting to go into labour.

Minshu · 03/09/2009 15:39

I'll do my best... Not sure if it was the floods of tears that got me out of it.

Poor you, twinklegreen. Hope you are not kept waiting that long!

LadyStealthPolarBear · 03/09/2009 15:50

Minshu
That sounds really odd twinkle - that they'd change it by so much, especially when you are so sure. Hope you don't go overdue but if you do is it worth mentioning it? May do more regular monitoring.

audreyraines · 03/09/2009 16:10

twinkle, that's quite bizarre, when did they do the scan that they are basing this date on? apparently after 12 weeks they are quite unreliable for dating as babies then grow to their individual sizes (whereas up to 12 weeks they are relatively uniform).

minshu, glad you don't have to be in hospital for that period. hope all goes smoothly and bubs moves into a decent position for it all.

another day ticking by and no pain!!

AprilMeadow · 03/09/2009 16:25

So pleased that they decided against admitting you Minshu. I was ready to climb the walls after 2 days never mind the thought of being there for 5wks.

I had hoped to have been holding bubs today as i spent all of yesterday getting cx's 6mins apart - 6.30am to midnight. But woke up this morning STILL pg I have had a few tightenings this afternoon but no pattern to them as such. Am just going to try and forget about it for now as i still have another few weeks to go.

Had my 38wk appt yesterday and baby is engaged and is in a nice position. The mw said that there was no point in booking my next appt as she didnt think i would make it.

blinder · 03/09/2009 16:36

Minshu - but glad they havent admitted you though! Is there anything you can do to shift LO round a bit?

Aprilmeadow - it might feel like wasted contractions but they are still softening and dilating you apparently! Goody goody!

Minshu · 03/09/2009 17:02

Blinder - I didn't think to ask about movement tips, but would have thought that the problem area is so low that ECV wouldn't be possible for shifting in that way. The obstetrician thought that staying mobile would give the best chance of allowing LO to move by herself. I'm very reassured having spoken to her, tbh, as she told me she specialised in high risk pregnancies, but didn't want to see me until my due date

The sonographer also confirmed that LO still looks like a girl, so I'm going to start washing the pink things now as I only have neutrals washed so far

Sounds like you are making progress, Aprilmeadow
