Thought I would start a new thread for may. Just got bfp and I am really excited. I think I'm due 30th April/1st May but there are so many people on April already. Heres hoping for a healthy pregnancy. I will just wait for lots more of you to join me. xxxx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
newmomma · 15/09/2009 15:30

Lizzie9442 - thats exactly what I did!
AAT and then ACCA. I finally qualified in 2005... If you need any advice I'd be happy to help...?

I didn't know about the danger zones at 4, 8 and 12 weeks. Just keeping my fingers crossed. Had one that worked and one that didn't so far so hoping things work out this time.

Hope you feel better real soon memorylapse it is horrid when you feel so awful. I made myself feel worse last time for almost resenting ickle baby for the awful nausea I had for weeks on end - I think the guilt made me feel worse than the nausea!

Jan9ne · 15/09/2009 15:56

Hi all,
For those of you who are new or don't know (this thread moves so fast!) i am currently in the middle of a 'threatened miscarriage' with bleeding, inconclusive scan, etc. I had repeat HCG blood test yesterday and the nurse has just phoned to say levels are rising quite normally and have gone up to 9000 so they've not exactly doubled but she didn't seem to concerned by this. Memorylapse, you're the expert, is it 48-72 hours in which they are sposed to double? And aren't they sposed to slow down a little after 6 weeks? I am after 6 weeks (approaching 7) and had my blood test about 46 hours after the first (not that i wish to split hairs or anything!)
I had some more bleeding last night - once again no pain, no clots. i'm having a scan in the morning. I feel like i am on a horrible emotional rollercoaster. Now feeling guilty as had a glass of wine to calm my nerves whilst waiting for call from hosp. aaaggghhhh! will keep you posted.

mummytoeli thinking of you. The waiting and the not knowing is bloody awful...xx

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 15/09/2009 16:04

Jan9ne, don't feel bad about a glass of wine, sounds like you needed and deserved it! God when I think about the two or three stonking great binge drinking sessions I had when I was pregnant with my first (before I realised I was pg, obviously!) thank god he was fine!

Sounds like a very very stressful and emotional time for you, I hope you're being kind to yourself and resting as much as you can. What the nurse said sounds very encouraging doesn't it! We all have our fingers crossed for you.

newmomma · 15/09/2009 16:28

jan9ne sorry to hear of your troubles - the waiting is hard enough without any problems - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that your levels do what you want and the bleeding etc stops.

but DON'T feel bad about one glass of wine - at this stage i personally believe that it can do very little harm. sounds like it was what you needed at the time.

smulan · 15/09/2009 16:29

Hey girls, super irregular so my date changed from 8 to 6 weeks after an early US...got to see little tiny baby with a stomping heartbeat...they reckoned my dates might chage again later. I can't tell you how amazing it was, I can't believe it. So I'm super excited to join this group! I've got no MS but got heartburn, trapped wind, not "going" that often and my jeans don't fit anymore. Glorious!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/09/2009 17:28

Jan9ne - sorry there's still no conclusive news for you, it must be really tough. Don't worry about a glass of wine, you obviously needed one.

I didn't know about the danger zones either, useful to know!

LuckyC · 15/09/2009 17:56

memorylapse I really feel for you. Must be very hard with the other kids. Wish we could come round and clean your house for you or something useful. Maybe time to call on your friends, even if you have to tell the news?

Jan9ne Keep us in the loop. Crossing everything for you.

memorylapse · 15/09/2009 18:15

Jan9ne..I was told that the levels usually initially double within 48 hours..then once they get to a certain amount, they can take 72 hours to double, then after that up to 4 days..so its not an exact science..apprently 10-15% of normal pregnancies show an abnormal rise in HCG (ie levels do not rise as they should), they dont rise as quickly after 6 weeks, so I beleive..I found this out after going to hell and back with dd2 when they told me she was a mole!

it sounds like your levels are climbing nicely, so gingers crossed

memorylapse · 15/09/2009 18:18

LuckC..I dont really have friends locally, they all live a bit further away..so cant really call on anyone..not stressing about the house too much..it will get clesned eventually..no contact from my mum what so ever..no offer of help..nothing

went for a lie down just to get some respite from the nausea..but woke after an hour..to throw up the glass of milk Id drunk..

suey2 · 15/09/2009 18:20

Jan9ne that sounds a lot more encouraging. The waiting must be bloody awful.

Bessie123 it looks like I will be going to the Portland after all! My gp raved about a consultant there and said it was much better than going to the private wing of an nhs hospital. She also said that 40% of births occur when we are due! So in an nhs hospital you are much more likely to have you doctor called away to an emergency.
I may see you there!

memorylapse · 15/09/2009 18:22

should add fingers crossed..not gingers!

Hobnobfanatic · 15/09/2009 18:32

OMG, Suey2! Did your doc really say that 40% of births are due in May?! Yikes! I thought everyone would have been put off by the autumn swine flu and pregnancy risks and it would be a quiet time!

charmbutterfly · 15/09/2009 18:37

Hey i was wondering if any of you girls are anaemic like me?? And if you take prenatal and extra iron on the side?

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/09/2009 19:14

40% of births in May :O That's amazing! The main hospital is going to be incredibly busy then.

Charmbutterfly - I'm not actually anaemic but I have an iron deficiency and was anaemic in my last pg. I'm taking iron tablets on the side, and will probably buy more Spatone at some point - I took that during last pg and it did raise my iron levels and I quite liked it I was going to ask the MW about it when I see her.

joshark · 15/09/2009 19:49

hi ladies can i join you? i am about 7 weeks pg due in may seems so far i want to start buying stuff already although i cant! boo! this will be my 4th baby i figured one you get over two it doesnt really matter they all fit in some how, have had my 6 week scan as i have had two ectopic pregnancies and all is looking good with a strong hearbeat although i still keep on worrying hope everyone else is ok? i am having awful morning sickness which is mainly at night horrible. i am 25, 26 in 2 weeks will ask for money and save it for my new pram i was thinking a mamas and papas herbie mmmm lush x x x x x

brightredballoon · 15/09/2009 19:58

Wow 40% can't say I'm surprised though as everyone I talk to raves about how nice it is/would be to have a Spring baby. How lovely to have maternity leave during the summer etc. I will make you all laugh with my naivity but can honestly say with DD and DS we didn't pay any attention to what month they would be born in it was more about getting pregnant and not knowing how long it would take to conceive etc.

Jan9ne - that is really encouraging that your levels are still rising. Perhaps you did just ovulate later in the month? Fingers crossed for you.

Hello to everyone else! I am so tired and have chores still to do that I don't have time to catch up with everyone tonight.

sweetkitty · 15/09/2009 20:27

wow this thread is so fast moving right now and loads of newbies, welcome to you all too many to mention

charmbutterfly - I am always prone to being anaemic, I take a Sanatogen prenatal multivit, a fish oil capsule and a calcium tablet as I have been pregnant or breastfeeding forever it seems. I got very anaemic after the birth last time so am probably going to take some spatone as well last few weeks.

suey - are you having an elective section in the Portland then?

memorylapse - hope the MS goes quickly for you it's a rough time, I have no support here either, you just tend to get on with it don't you? I am not talking to my mother so will not be telling her direct, she told me last time I was stupid to have 3 so I don't want to hear her comments about 4. I am waiting as long as I can to tell everyone else as I want to know the baby is fine before I start having all the comments IYSWIM?

jan9ne - as far as I believe HCG levels don't double exactly in 48 hours they go up and down during the day, it looks more promising as they are still rising which means the baby is making them rise. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and hope it all goes well.

MummytoEli - fingers and everything crossed for you too

suey2 · 15/09/2009 20:49

Oo I'd better clarify: 40% of births occur in the 6 weeks around may: still pretty gobsmacking IMO.
Sweetkitty yes, unless my consultant has a very good reason to persuade me to go for a vbac, I will go for an elecitve cs this time. I had a hideous time last time ending in an emergency cs. I also got pnd. I can't bear the thought of a similar experience, so I'd rather it were done electively and calmly in a nice place with my own room.

Memorylapse I hope you feel better soon. My best antenatal mate who is pg again now has the same problem. She has been unable to leave the house for 4 days. Sounds bloody awful.

Kaylo · 15/09/2009 21:20

Hi Guys, welcome all the newbies.

I'll be honest and admit I haven't read thru all the posts as I've had a super hectic day - meant to be leaving for the airport in a few hours and I'm not packed. DH has taken all my holiday stuff to his mums with the kids as he thought it was stuff I'd got ready for them whilst they're staying with the in-laws clearly he doesn't use his eyes much!!

Anyway - I've now dispatched him thru there to retrieve them so I can deposit the stuff in the suitcase. When he finally gets it out of the loft like I've been asking him to do for ooooo about6 weeks!!

I'm a bit stressed so I'm sorry this is a me post. Just needed to vent a little I guess.

I think I'm gonna go and have a nice coffee while I can still stand the smell of it - I'm gradually going off everything I usually like.

I'll be back Monday to tell you all about Barcelona Provided we don't actually miss the flight

Love to all - I'll miss you (and I seriously will!)

xxxxx

HarryJoesMummy · 15/09/2009 23:15

Kaylo - hope you have a lovely holiday

memorylapse - sounds like you are having a really rough time, I hope it soon passes

Mummytoeli - so sorry to hear your news, I hope everything turns out positive for you

Jan9ne - rising levels sound good, hopefully you will soon get confirmation that all is well

Sorry to everyone else who is feeling terrible with ms - it is horrible, hopefully you all find something that takes the edge off it a bit soon!

Whoever said they were having a symptom free day - me too! I am also a bit worried...but then keep reminding myself that I had no symptoms with DS1 until after the 8 week mark, so this pg may well be the same. I am going to POAS again before I tell the family at the weekend though, just to make sure it is still positive!!

carikube8 · 16/09/2009 08:38

Morning all...
I'd just like to point out to anyone who was wondering that it is not a good idea to eat a whole Domino's hot and spicy pizza after 10pm (I kind of knew that at the time but I'm paying for it now!)

rb3 · 16/09/2009 09:13

Hello,

Just found out I'm pregnant and due in May. In complete shock, we had literally just started trying and it would have ben nice to have a month or two to get used to the idea!

I am happy and pleased, but mainly in shock at the moment.

Hobnobfanatic · 16/09/2009 09:29

Carikube8 - eugh! Poor you! I bet it was lovely at the time, though!

rb3 - I went through exactly the same thing the first time I was pregnant. She was planned, but I thought it would take years. She was conceived almost instantly and I was in shock for months. I cried and panicked and was just so stressed. This time round, I thought I'd conceive just as quickly and it took forever. When I found out that I was finally pregnant, I was just so pleased - no panic at all! I'm a little worried how I'll cope with work (I"m self-employed so no namby-pamby maternity leave for me!) etc but I think once you've been through it once, you know that it's worth it and there's no fear. Or something!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 16/09/2009 09:47

rb3 welcome to the thread. We too concieved literally on the first go despite thinking it might take months. Did an ovulation test which gave a big dark line, did the deed, tested 14 days later, bfp. It was quite shocking.

But I was over the moon with the news until last night when I was lying in bed overthinking. Started going "what have I done, maybe I'm not ready for this, maybe I can't cope with two, waah!"

Ironically (since he freaked out at my first, unplanned, pregnancy right up until the birth) my dp is very calm and happy about it, and says it was the right thing to do.

Although I daresay the fact that he doesn't have to push something the size of next doors cat out of himself helps him be that bit more calm...

Bessie123 · 16/09/2009 09:55

Oooh, I only got as far as Suey2's post. I have to have an elective c-section as well, after complications last time I tried to give birth naturally. If all goes well we will be there at the same time.
